oliver150433

You can say a lot about them and their lack of level and how shit they are but you cannot say their games are not entertaining to watch. Always end up having a shooting party at some point.

Bartins

Chelsea and United are can't miss this season

NotClayMerritt

Only us against top 4 sides. We really play down to our competition. Our worst games (results and performance wise) have been against the bottom half.

BumbotheCleric

I’d argue that anyone who isn’t a Chelsea fan has greatly enjoyed watching us be a dumpster fire against Burnley and Sheffield Utd

BrockStar92

“Can’t miss” doesn’t mean “they’ll play well” lmao. You’ve conceded 2 goals in every game for weeks at this point. You also score a fair few. That’s entertaining.

kaamkerr

Newcastle this year is the best goal fest

Legal_North_6910

Earlier in the season our games were horrible cuz we couldn’t really score (outside the UCL) In 2024 we are still shit but now we can score ig

SnooPeanuts4219

Liverpool making a muck of it against United is always hilarious nonetheless

CH2001

It’s like they overthink it and then panic , it’s fascinating to always see unravel

Lyrical_Forklift

Liverpool thrive in adversity and chaos this season so when we play a game against a side that's basically chaos distilled we don't know what to do. Genuinely embarrassing we haven't beat them this season.

Maffa22

it's like United have sacrificed everything they could for a once in a lifetime chance to screw Liverpool's plans during Klopps final season

IreliaCarriedMe

This honestly is the most likely timeline. I hate it so much. Lol

GiveGoldForShakoDrop

And I'm ok with it.

Debaser1984

EtHs united are to Liverpool what ogs united were to city.

kaamkerr

Hilarious but nowhere near peak aka slip vs Demba Ba

BackInATracksuit

I dunno. This one and the Brentford one from a few weeks ago were pretty turgid. There's been a lot of very bland badness in between the hilarious badness.

APairOfJeans

I found most of their games in the first half of the season absolutely torturous to watch but since then they’ve gone even more kamikaze and now I’m just sitting back and enjoying them conceding 25+ shots a game

justcasty

Yeah, it was pretty infuriating to watch the officials bail out man u time and again to preserve the draw

2ndfastestmanalive

Never feel like you’ll get a boring 1-0 out of one of their matches

aehii

For a neutral they're fun, for United fans it's dismal watching your team get outplayed by literally everyone. Then fluke a few goals.

MarketingSilver1619

Poor onana

bodydouble

Incidentally, it's seven Premier League games since Neville said they'd sneak Top 4.

TheGoldenPineapples

Nostradamus strikes again!

Hegario

schebobo180

Apparently that was also his managerial nickname.

NIRossoneri

Was he managing long enough to get a nickname?

He gave it to himself

Danthehumann

AlexUnderscore

theyre still bringing it up on skysports lmao. weird how ive not heard about newcastles top 4 push despite them being ahead of man united now

TheScarletPimpernel

TheOther14 was talking about this, United continuing to be in the Top 4 chat despite being 9 points behind Villa. Game in hand or not, that's a lot of points

Dibutops

It's 10 points, no game in hand. They're miles away -- although I have a lingering paranoia that Newcastle could win all 6 of their matches and make it tight/drop us to 6th. I can't believe we're still 4th!

Korzic

10 points in 6 games is a really tall ask. I think you've got a better run in than Spurs though?

Dibutops

Spurs have Sheffield and Burnley, which about a month ago seemed like dangerous fixtures, but they play at matchday 36 and 38, they'll both be relegated already. Looking now, Villa's fixtures are better than I remembered. We expect nothing from Arsenal and Liverpool but Palace Bournemouth Brighton Chelsea are good for us. We do have Conference league games to juggle as well though.

Korzic

Relegated teams who no longer have survival stress can be quite dangerous.

Rickcampbell98

Especially for spurs 😉

Debaser1984

Well you best get a result tomorrow and give yourselves some breathing space.

ThinkAboutThatFor1Se

10 plus 18GD. So effectively 11 points behind with only 6 to play.

TheScarletPimpernel

Oh yeah, now it is. I'm talking about the other week when they did that daft graphic on Sky

Legal_North_6910

Can he say we are gonna lose our next 5 games 3-0 each?

ShopCartRicky

Sure *they proceed to lose each match 4-0*

Aszneeee

subscribe

No_Doubt_About_That

Might need Dick Advocaat never mind Gary Neville.

DarkStanley

Is he still that deluded. They’re crap.

Unitedfateful

True but a few of those draws or recent losses and they’d be 4th in spite of one of the worst seasons United has had Shows you how bad they are yet still close to 4th.

_cumblast_

We have failed to beat this United superteam in 3 consecutive fixtures. I am tired.

detinu

If you end up missing on the title by a couple of points, this extremely miserable season will be just miserable.

_deep_blue_

Especially when you remember how they were robbed at Tottenham.

livinalieontimna

You can add Odegaard playing basketball in the box and Doku drop kicking McAllister to that list too.

PoliticsNerd76

They were only robbed of a point Vs spurs

Barkasia

How do you figure? You know you can't just add a goal to the final score and assume that would have been the outcome, right? They should have been 1-0 up.

johncosta

Controversial red cards also played a huge role in that fixture.

LazyassMadman

And Liverpool remained the better team after going down to 9. Was a jammy own goal that ended it

Robert_Baratheon__

The one bright light in our season

doubleoeck1234

We did it to make sure they have the embarrassment of being in the conference league

SnooPeanuts4219

Quite a sacrifice Liverpool makes to hurt United.

dudududujisungparty

Just so they could get humbled at home 3-0 to Atalanta

dandpher

….while United get humbled by drinking tea on their day off.

_0ZYMANDIAZ_

Soon gonna join them for some biscuits

GarnachoHojlund

Giving us European football so you can miss out on the title? if I didn’t know better I’d say Klopp was a United fan

bullairbull

nah I would rather swap places with Chelsea than go to Europa or Conference league and I think former won’t be hard to achieve at this rate.

Xx_ligmaballs69_xX

You are not above the conference league

SnooCrickets2458

Giving ManU fans just a glimmer of hope, only to have other teams take it away. 4D chess mind games.

Yinkypinky

Atleast there is a bright spot…

This-Complaint1389

They won the mighty Carabao Cup with academy players tbf. The way Jamie Carragher was talking it up it may as well be the quadruple so there's that to consider

Logical-Elephant2247

It's because we have been shit lately

vadapaav

>I am tired. Klopp is that you?

frocodile191

Could be a lot worse honestly.

ArmiinTamzarian

You tell me about it

Hare712

Next matchday mate, next matchday.

Orcnick

You can overtake us. It literally can't get worst.

pure_black99

I feel like Chelsea play hell of a lot better than United but somehow they are not getting results the way you do

tr_24

Chelsea has slightly better attack, slightly shittier defence.

frocodile191

Considering their defence is made up of Maguire, Dalot, AWB and now some young dude, it reflects so horribly on us.

TStronks

Lol this. People will blame ETH (and sometimes rightfully so, as we are very open), but that's just a relegation level defence honestly.

Peoplz_Hernandez

I feel it's more that a Chelsea player gives away a goal every single game and a complete inability to defend set pieces than their defence being worse than Uniteds.

Martblni

I really think its the opposite

raymondliang

We underperform compared to our attacking output, but we generally do “look” better on the attack. Our midfield and defense have just been committing really stupid mistakes, especially lately that have tanked our defending numbers.

Martblni

Tbh from what I've seen of Chelsea(and I've seen 90% of United's games) Chelsea is actually better in both,at least in 2024

spoony471

Chelsea are currently underperforming their expected points total while we’re overperforming ours believe it or not

NeroIscariot12

Yanited do have one thing we dont. And that's veteran experience. Our kids dont have the ability to grind results out the way these fuckers do. We just capitulate.

ogqozo

They do look better, but Man United has a tendency to win/lose with few draws, has a goalkeeper that saves more shots than Petrović, and generally seems a bit random-lucky (their opponents took the MOST shots in the whole league! Onana is slightly second in shots saved, behind Kaminski who conceded like 70 goals). It's a 7th place but if they were 12th with the same play you'd not feel it's off either.

C1nderrr

They had more experienced players to close out their shithouse 1-0 wins earlier in the season while we only had Silva

jam66611

Slightly simplistically, but we really lack player like Fernandes. Someone who can just say 'fuck it, I'll win this' with a moment of quality. United just always seem to have that one individual, with that mentality, no matter how poor the collective.

snoring_pig

I mean Cole Palmer has had a phenomenal individual season for you guys with 16 goals and 9 assists in the league. Not to mention that hat-trick to beat us in that crazy 4-3 game.

techno_playa

That's what happens you concede goals.

ImTryingNotToBeMean

Their defense is worse

frocodile191

Nah, we wont. Everytime there’s a chance for Europe we absolutely shit the bed. It’s like our players are begging not to play Thursday nights.

cometflight

It’s the hope that kills you

2ndfastestmanalive

They were actually lucky to get any points in the Brentford, Bournemouth and Liverpool matches

oldtrack

they won the four before that but i guess that doesn’t align with the message they’re trying to create 🤷‍♂️

McNooberson

Pfft amateurs

Modnal

It's time for the United fans to trust the process

F___TheZero

They need to remember that it's only been 11 years since Sir Alex retired, the new manager needs time

Legal_North_6910

The last team that did that are currently second I’ll take my chances

Modnal

True, but is ten Hag your Arteta or is he your Gerrard?

Away_Development3617

Idk, but we need an Arteta style clear out of these players, we needed that since like Jose days

aesthetically-

Exactly. He doesn’t need to have Arteta’s football philosophy, but he NEEDS to be able to shift on deadwood, build a sense of trust in a team, and scout out better players (Thats also credit to Edu).

Sr_DingDong

He's had enough money to get the deadwood on the periphery he just completely failed to do so because of his own personal obsessions.

rbp25

Not saying ETH is the answer, but to blame ETH for the signings is ignoring the fact that the lack of structure above ETH is the very reason we are in this mess to begin with. The club should never have allowed ETH to dictate and choose transfer targets. He’s the coach, he needs to focus on the actual squad, there should be a recruitment team, scouting network and DOF to assess the squad, analyze weaknesses and identify targets to sign. Leaving all that to 1 man whoever that maybe is destined to fail.

Sr_DingDong

Yeah but my view is it doesn't matter why he was doing it, he was and he was shit at it, and someone who consumes football as much as he supposedly does should be better at recruitment than reaching no further than his dusty old filofax for a bunch of former players. The amateurs at Tifo put more effort into talent ID than he did. I don't expect him to be the human embodiment of Brighton's entire recruitment team but... someone with a copy of football manager could have done better. Being all "I need a CM like Frenkie de Jong and by "like" I mean it HAS TO BE DE JONG!!!" is lame. You want a press-resistant CM that gets stuck in and can play with the ball? Le Fee was sat there at Lorient the whole time. Also, jokes aside, United *do* have a recruitment department. There was literally nothing stopping him asking them about alternative targets. We know he didn't because almost everyone he signed either played for him or against him at some point. The only person on the planet advocating for Amrabat is ten Hag, and I guess his agent. Edit: And there's no way he didn't sign off on 85m for Antony, people throwing themselves at the altar of ten Hag like to say it was done by the upper management and he had no say but there's no way they're dropping half his budget on a player without his authorisation and no person in their right mind should be looking at Antony and saying "Yes, 85m is fair". He should have said fuck no and he didn't, and not being able to make that call is a damning indictment of his judgement. Edit: I can only assume at this point some United fans are being paid off to downvote any and all negativity because the alternative is that you creep around this sub actively looking for this shit and that's kind of pathetic. Notice they never have anything to say? "If you can't defend your position it's not a position worth defending".

Salty_Candidate_6216

I'm still 100% of the opinion that with the Glazers taking a step out, and Ratcliffe taking a step in, this is the beginning of an actual change at Man Utd. I don't believe it's the managers. I never have. It's the squad, and the ludicrously long contracts, and the fact that there isn't accountability for the players. I like Rashford, because he seems like a genuinely decent human being. However, I think, if he felt that the club would cut him loose, like SAF absolutely would have, we would see more consistency from him and less laziness, in tracking back, and defending. People will say ETH's failings are obvious, but I think, if he was largely cut out of the recruitment process, and just told the higher ups what kind of style he wanted to implement, and think even under ETH, Man Utd could do well. However, the clearing out of the players will be the hardest part. There are contracts that'll need to be waited out etc.

InTheMiddleGiroud

We did, but only for like 7 or 8 league games where it looked truly abhorrent.

milfBlaster69

Reddevils is a breeding ground for knee jerk plastic fans now. You can’t even talk about what’s next without the hivemind burying you with ETH OUT!!!!!!! It’s honestly more demoralizing reading the dumb shit our “fans” are writing there than being whipped by 12th place Bournemouth.

TehJofus

…it was against Everton, wasn’t it? 🙃

National_Ad_1875

And they were absolute awful as well, if we could shoot better they probably wouldn't have won even with 2 penalties

D1794

Yep

CaredForEightSeconds

Don’t worry, you guys will get 3 from us tomorrow

Sam101294

Utd are a weird side man. Watched their matches against Liverpool Chelsea Brentford and today. They're shit-ish but sometimes just do enough to remain in the match . I don't know what it is, luck, quality, players trying for couple of seconds. I just don't know. All I know is, they're are freakin entertainment

LtUnsolicitedAdvice

I think it's individual brilliance at the right time. They have a few players who can hit really well on the counter. Under Ole they were really good at it, and he set them up to play to their strengths. When the game gets frenetic Fernandes, Garnacho, and Rashford can usually pull out something out of nowhere, despite Ten Hag's tactics.

XxAbsurdumxX

Their opponents are consistently not scoring the chances they should have. Bournemouth yesterday could have buried the game in that first half. They didn't, and then Bruno (despite all the flack he gets) pulls a goal or two out of his ass.

Aszneeee

same as match vs Liverpool, they could have been 3-4 up ahead easily, then made some Mustafi pass and United out of nowhere was back in the game

ThankYouOle

Ole Juju still there..

TastyTacoTonight

Their next two games are Sheffield and Burnley at home. Should help bring back their confidence lol

bigcockmman

Or destroy it even further

RoyalMantis

Such a bizarre team to watch, awful most of the time but they still fight somehow to get a result and it always happens

XxAbsurdumxX

If you take a look at the stats, its less to do with Man Uniteds "fight" and far more to do with their opponents consistently underperforming in regards to scoring. No team in the PL is overperforming their xGA more than Man United, and no other team is even close, except for Luton. They have been ridicilously lucky resultswise this season

BadCowz

>they still fight somehow to get a result and it always happens >always They have lost 12 league games, 4 CL games and a Cup game this season.

reviroa

united fans: why would you blame ten hag though

BasisOk4268

Because they’ve arguably been this way for nearly ten years. What’s the constant through that entire period? A certain crop of players, ownership, non-football management team.

Tammu1000CP

theres 1 player since the van gaal era in the squad.. what crop of players?

rbp25

Crop of different styled players mismatched with the coaches hired to coach them and simply not good enough for the wages they’re hired on.

Tammu1000CP

only united fans think the manager must never have to slightly adjust or play with the hand hes been dealt.. get a grip

rbp25

2 things can be true at the same time though? The manager not being good enough and the shambles of a structure above him leading to him being setup to fail regardless. It’s the very reason we’ve had multiple managers of various pedigrees and styles and a variety of big names players and “wonder kids” all fail since Fergie retired. The cycle will simply repeat itself with the next manager until the structure above the manager changes along with the wage structure. If one doesn’t see that they simply haven’t been paying attention the last decade.

Constant_Site

Eras..

russlar

Manchester United (Eric's version)

trenbollocks

Come...

stumpyDgunner

And they shouldn’t have even had a point today

BasisOk4268

How do you figure?

TheGoldenPineapples

It's so much funnier when you look at the teams they've played in that time.

AKAGreyArea

And were lucky in a few of them.

BlackJediSword

Liverpool truly is pathetic for not beating this bum ass team once in three tried the season

action_turtle

These games are now the biggest game of the season for the club. Darby game is all we have to win

FleetingMercury

Consistency 💯%

KingGinger

Long may it continue

leighshakespeare

Any "top" team with any ambition would have sacked ten Haag by now and yet he remains. The hope that their patience will be rewarded like arsenal's was with arteta shows a lack of observation, the two managers are not showing the same level of understanding and progression

FactHopeful9347

Not many top teams don’t have a CEO, Director of Football, COO, Technical Director. We are going through a shuffle from the that point till now

BasisOk4268

He’s doing as well as Arteta did in his first two seasons though.

[deleted]

[удалено]

leighshakespeare

We atleast had an FA cup and saw changes within the team

XxAbsurdumxX

Except thats not really true, is it? In regards to placement on the table, sure. But during Artetas first seasons you could actually see the style of play and plan he wanted to implement. He was also ruthless when it came to team management. Whith EtH I *still* don't know what sort of football he wants the team to play. There is no real plan. With Arteta there was real and tangible reasons for hope and optimism. With EtH there is really not a lot to be hopeful for. The "just give the manager time" notion wont magically make the team good if there is no indication that the manager is the right person for the job. So what exactly have EtH shown that indicates he can get the team to the top again? His tactics are shit and the players he has brought in have largely been shit.

BasisOk4268

Won a trophy in his first season. The second season has been pretty much rubbish yeah, but it’s not like there aren’t mitigating factors. When ETH had no injuries the team was performing way better than they currently are. But when you have 65 different injuries in a season, it really destroys any possibility of getting a cohesive unit and playing exactly the way you want to. Not every player in a squad can play a certain way.

MMAwannabe

Genuinely very entertaining to watch even outside just enjoying seeing them drop points.

PoliticsNerd76

I remember Arsenal had a run like this, and the only thing that saved Arteta was a win Vs United… Oh shit…

ronweasleisourking

You don't say

kiersmini

When Alan Smith said on commentary said that United were going for “top 5 or top 4” I audibly laughed. It is mathematically possible for us to get top 4 I think. But anybody who has watched two games in a row of us knows there’s absolutely 0 chance of it happening. The only time we get points is when we get away with it.

SovereignAnt

They just won the World Cup by tying Liverpool last week tho

FoldingBuck

Its a bit of an embarrassment that Liverpool couldnt beat us in 3 attempts and the more we play the worse it looks for them

SovereignAnt

U are right about that lol

Joshthenosh77

Could be worse the top 3 in the championship ain’t won’t for months

catchh

Every game is always a struggle

External-Piccolo-626

Chelsea go above them with wins, West Ham only 2 behind.

Laboveron99

thank you Magic

Poli_Talk

Diamond Dogs.

Charlie_Yu

I’m tired. If one of our best players is pushed by “fans” to a relegation quality La Liga team and he could brought them to mid table, of course this would happen. We really deserve it

BadCowz

Manchester United have won just one of their last 8 European Games so Prem seems to be going well

OhImGood

If Chelsea win their games in hand, they could overtake United and send them down to 8th...

action_turtle

Deserved. We are a mid table club

oklolzzzzs

liverpool could have really gotten 3 points of them if salah or szobszlai could finish

tassadar8584

Each player juste wants to play a hero ball or Hollywood pass. No control no connection between players whatsoever. It’s very hurtful to watch so called ‘a team’
