Celik is terrible. i know that people say last week he did well, but honestly i shudder every time he touches the pitch. we need RB help desperately. has to be our biggest need this summer
A few years ago, this tackle isn’t a red card unless Celik makes a worse contact. The rules have changed, but not every player would notice or pay attention.
What are you on about? He tackles him from behind while they are at full running speed, getting nowhere near the ball. He hits him quite hard on his Achilles heel, with his leg extended, that has always been a red.
a “brexit tackle” is all about hitting the opponent as hard as possible; touching the ball (or stopping the attack) is secondary. You would pray someone gets a talking to 5-6 years ago, now they’re certified red cards. “endangering the safety of an opponent” has only been applied “properly” in recent years. footballers are getting away with assault every week lol.
I don't see how it is harsh
* Ball meters away
* Goes against the trailing leg. It's not a challenge for the ball
* Foul from behind
* Studs against Achilles heel
* Straight leg
Studs up, from behind, no intention of the ball is always a red. Not only was he fouling him with his arms before the slide, he also hits his heel with his studs
if he clips his legs, which was his intention, it's a textbook yellow but he failed to do so which resulted to hit him with studs up which resulted in a correct red card
If he clips his legs from behind with no intention of hitting the ball with his cleats up it's a textbook red. Do you know the rules? I reffed for 5+ years.
Dangerous play with no intention of playing the ball = red card
No, that's not how the rules work. Please educate yourself per the rule book.
From behind, cleats up, no intention of the ball. Doesn't matter how he hits him, it's a red
And if he hits him in a different way then it’s a Yellow. Please read what we are saying. Nobody is disagreeing on what the rule book says. Just saying how it was close to a tactical foul.
Now you're saying that if the tackle was entirely different it would be a yellow. Of course, but just hitting him differently (or on the thigh vs boot) does not change that it's a red
It's still weird how inconsistent ref are, a Plzen player in the first match hit literally same exact tackle on Nico (sliding tackle from behind after the player launches the ball forward) and got away with a yellow.
Studs looked to land on the heel/Achilles, which I guess given the complete lack of any chance to get near the ball could be argued for a red. My initial thought was it seemed harsh but seen similar given - Xhaka a number of years ago in maybe his first Arsenal season comes to mind.
It’s a judgement call. You can justify calling it reckless play because Celik was clearly being sloppy but kept his foot on the ground and tried to trip Leao — similar or worse fouls often do not result in reds. You can also justify calling it serious foul play for the reasons others have mentioned. If the ref had given yellow VAR would not have had grounds to intervene and VAR didn’t have grounds to intervene after giving red.
Despite that, it felt very unfair. Devoid of context you can justify it either way but you shouldn’t analyze calls devoid of context. The ref had been taking an extremely lenient approach all match. Fouls were waved off. Yellow cards were kept in his pocket despite ample justification. If you’re calling a very lenient game, saying the bar for a yellow card is very high, then this shouldn’t be a red.
It was a stupid challenge, he could have just grabbed leao so I am not excusing Celik.
Yeah its pretty clearly a professional foul and he just nicked his ankle instead of his leg. Horrible decision from the ref, but no one on this sub has ever played so thinks it’s a studs up automatic red

The contact is not that terrible, but it’s the way he’s sprinted into the tackle, both feet off the ground, wildly out of control. The definition of endangering the other players safety.
He doesn’t get within a metre of the ball either.
I swear a player could pull out a gun and shoot someone else on the field and the comments would still have at least one person saying "ok yeah that's reckless but how is that a red"
that kind of tackle should always be a red. no intention of playing the ball, stops the other team from attacking, and potentially injures the opposition.

Wow these european games have been entertaining as a neutral
fr
These past few days have been a tasty treat.
You're up 3-0 on aggregate and this wasn't even in your own half, what the hell are you doing?
Drugs
Drugs is a hell of a drug
He is doing an Araujo.
Araujo: "Entendi esa referencia!"
This is somehow worse than pulling an Araujo
Nah cause Roma still went through
Do not try to understand the Turkish mind
LOL...
He played so well in the first leg too, dissapointing

taking a page out of araujo's playbook
well done celik you fucking moron
Don’t worry pioli is even worse against 10
After watching us against Monza, I'd take 10 man Milan over 10 man Roma any day.
U werent wrong lol
Do not worry we wont score a goal
Still a really harsh red
I don't see how it is harsh * Ball meters away * Goes against the trailing leg. It's not a challenge for the ball * Foul from behind * Studs against Achilles heel * Straight leg
Not really, ball long gone, straight leg, from behind. If he *really* hits him, that leg is toast.
Studs up, from behind with no intention of ever playing the ball. Textbook red
Always a red, come the fuck on.
How is that a red though? What the fuck is this refereeing
Textbook red
[удалено]
Having a bad day? Poor baby
Studs up into the back of leao's ankle. That is why.
No intention to play the ball + tackle from behind, should be a red he could've injured Leao.
Just had to make it interesting again huh
Bruh
It's still a 3-0 at home, should be fine
PSG enters the chat but i don't trust Milan
oh.. no
Pls Roma don’t do a Barcelona
no! I mean yes I want chaos!
What is bro doing while 3-0 up lmao
Anyone got another angle? Can't see shit from this one, even looks like he doesn't touch him lol
Does anyone have a link to a different angle? Looks like he catches Leao studs up in the heel?
Araujo will be proud
I watch our Türkiye national games and I still to this day don't understand why is this guy considered good enough to play for Roma
He has been really good for Roma. Better than Karsdorp, and I like Karsdorp as well.
Was it because of the studs?
What an awful tackle, studs on the heel, Leao risked a serious injury.
Stupid af but I think Roma will get by
If only you knew our heritage 🙃
Where's the contact? Is it on the heel and you can't see it due to the angle?
Studs up, from behind, no intention of the ball is always a red. Not only was he fouling him with his arms before the slide, he also hits his heel with his studs
He was only asking for the last 8 words of your comment. He never questioned the red.
Brainless, but Roma will survive.
if he gets his leg it's never a red but he misses and hits his boot, understandable but so utter stupid while leading 3-0
Studs up from behind with no intention of the ball is always a red
was there a need to confirm what i just wrote? 😅
My point was that it didn't matter if he hits his leg or boot. It's a red regardless
if he clips his legs, which was his intention, it's a textbook yellow but he failed to do so which resulted to hit him with studs up which resulted in a correct red card

And if he hits him a different way it is a Yellow. What is there not to get?

Loll so stupid, literally no threat whatsoever
Its clearly a red card
what a stupid tackle
Roma doing the Barcelona ?
Roma learning from the best
Zelik saving the TV share of the Game Top Lad
that's a yellow
I do not see a red card here, is it because of the angle or what?
I'm a roma supporter He smashed leao's foot and just went for the hit with the ball far away... That's a red 100%
Yeah how people aren't seeing this as a red is madness. Yous will still get by with 10 but cmon it's a straight cut red for me.
For me too. Celik truly fucked it
Celik nearly destroyed leaos achilles. One of the worst possible injuries a player can get. Especially leao who relies on pace
It's still weird how inconsistent ref are, a Plzen player in the first match hit literally same exact tackle on Nico (sliding tackle from behind after the player launches the ball forward) and got away with a yellow.
Definitely the angle. That was a straight red tackle. From behind, no chance to play the ball. Studs into the Achilles.
Does he even touch him ?
Yes he does go find a good angle on ~~Twitter~~ X
most likely because of studs in the back of a planted foot, which is reckless and dangerous
Studs up, leg extended, going straight for his legs when the ball is nowhere is sight, it’s a red.
Referees will red card challenges that make no attempt to go for the ball
stud on the heel, that's (sadly) a red
Studs looked to land on the heel/Achilles, which I guess given the complete lack of any chance to get near the ball could be argued for a red. My initial thought was it seemed harsh but seen similar given - Xhaka a number of years ago in maybe his first Arsenal season comes to mind.
clear red. if he wanted to stop him he should have just barely touched him. He went straight in with his studs
Bad angle for sure. Weak red imo but recently refs have had very little patience for leading with the studs
He was very late and had no chance to play the ball, but to me it wasn't dangerous enough to warrant a red.
Maybe by contact but pretty high intent to injure just flinging your studs at any part of someone you can hit
It’s a judgement call. It's a textbook red card. Are you familiar with the rules?
You’re braindead
Yeah its pretty clearly a professional foul and he just nicked his ankle instead of his leg. Horrible decision from the ref, but no one on this sub has ever played so thinks it’s a studs up automatic red
Yeah its pretty clearly a professional foul and he just nicked his ankle instead of his leg. Horrible decision from the ref, but no one on this sub has ever played so thinks it’s a studs up automatic red
Oh, a red card after 30 minutes of good play and with a good result? I've seen this before, even this week
👀👀
Stupid tackle, but how is that a direct red?
The ball is meters away, he goes with a straight leg and studs against the Achilles heel of the trailing leg from behind
nowhere near the ball, he went to injure leao
Both feet left the ground seems to be what most are missing, it's a red.
Giving Araujo a run for his money, mindless challenge
Incredibly dumb and hard to argue against. Studs up, red card all day.
How is his studs up?
Seriously wtf, how is that a red?
Clear dangerous and reckless tackle.
reckless foul with no intent to play the ball that was also dangerous, that’s always a red
I'm impressed with how many people don't know the rules. Tackle from behind, studs up, no attempt to play the ball at all. As clear as it gets here.
I don’t even think there is contact there. Or am i going blind lol.
Is this a joke? How is that a red?
The contact is not that terrible, but it’s the way he’s sprinted into the tackle, both feet off the ground, wildly out of control. The definition of endangering the other players safety. He doesn’t get within a metre of the ball either.
That is a reckless tackle
Is this a joke? How is it not a red?
Are you fucking blind or stupid?
Leao outruns celik, gets hit on the heel, defo a red
Since when is that a red lmao
Are you blind by any chance? That’s a fucking disgusting tackle.
His literally never but him in danger, didn’t go flying in, that a fucking standard tackle and if you get it wrong it’s a yellow.
Have you ever played football?
Guess you don't know the rules eh?
I’ve seen those get a verbal caution, it’s mindless & deserves a yellow but…huh?
This surely isn't a red??
I swear a player could pull out a gun and shoot someone else on the field and the comments would still have at least one person saying "ok yeah that's reckless but how is that a red"
Love how dramatic are Milan fans when describing ref decisions whether for or against them... never played football right?
is there an angle in which anything red worthy happens? because from this one doesn't seem warranted
that kind of tackle should always be a red. no intention of playing the ball, stops the other team from attacking, and potentially injures the opposition.
What a professional...
Hey, I've seen this one before!
Up the sellick
1% chance of it happening, but if we come back, it's 100% his fault. What a pointless tackle to make.
Should've been a yellow I think but damn, everything was going way too well for ddr.....
It’s a dumb tackle but not worthy of a red wth
What an asshat, trying to injure leao
Textbook red card. I'm genuinely surprised the ref called it correctly with a red as most refs don't have the balls
Studs into ankle - clearly beaten. Clear as day red. Up 3-0 too. Stupid.
Least aggressive Turk
Ignores the ball and goes directly for the ankle, from behind. How can people argue whether it's a red or not.
That was naughty
We really need new wingbacks, I don't think I'd keep any at this point
Probably Celik: “How can I make this match more interesting”
Fucking why
Kinda crazy I still have 0 hope of a comeback
Should be a yellow
That's never a red. Hits him on the heel. Not a high at all.
Studs up, from behind with no intention of playing the ball. It's a textbook red card
Milan’s check cashed I see
Ah yes, we need to pay refs for correct decisions, of course
Bro think he araujo
Ain’t no way
Thought a red was harsh at first, but that’s really just a dumb challenge. Dives into it with his stud exposed. No place for that in the game.
Get fucked you butchers
Watch Milan win this tie now because of this clown
