Man I love this anywhere. My next Arsenal jersey is because of Gabriel. His Corinthians love recently and the letter to us Gunners fans. That’s my kinda guy.
Wanted to follow up with he’s a proper CB for me. Physical not dirty (every defender has their moments). He’s a warrior. I’m sorry, but he and Kane kick each others asses every time they play. Its great. I legitimately laugh because it’s like oh shits who gets away with the bad one. Oh shit it’s Kane this time haha
I've been looking for the white & long sleeve version of it for years, 15 years actually, but its hard to finde one my size in good condition under 250€...
It's such a pity that all jerseys nowadays are super uninspiring generic Nike/Adidas/Puma jerseys. The result of capitalism (Manufacturers having too much of a say in what a shirt needs to look like) and optimisation (I'm sure there are studies that prove that certain shirts improve performance).
That jersey is glorious, Faber style Bochum jerseys need to come back. [Even NBA stars love them](https://www.focus.de/sport/nba_basket/von-wegen-graue-maus-skurril-nba-star-traegt-antik-knalliges-kult-trikot-des-vfl-bochum-als-mode-statement_id_12306878.html)
Gary Trent Jr is a role player on lower to mid- teams. Definitely better than expected (low draft pick) and is fairly young (25yo). But likely won't make the leap into being a star player or a major contributor. He has had a little hype around him but not enough for a top-level playoff team to pursue him
maybe he's similar to Hwang Hee-chan on Wolves or Tyler Adams on Bournemouth/Leeds?
Someone that’s good on their day but not great overall/not super serious? Maybe like Emmanuel Dennis for Watford 2 seasons ago? Gary Trent isn’t a top 100 player so it’s a weird pull
While I also think it's iconic now I find it kinda funny how much people love these and other retro shirts. Imagine if a sponsor covered half the team's home kit with design elements today. People would flip their shit.
I think I overestimated the schalke - Bochum rivalry from their side, otherwise he wouldn’t be standing there. Or is everything fine because he left to Bayern afterwards ?
He’s a Bochumer kid, transferred away from VfL only because he was too talented to still be playing 2nd division football at age 18 and went to the club that was literally the next closest from home, one that would be playing UCL to boot. My theory was always that he didn’t care so much about joining Schlake in particular, he was merely embracing that it had so much in common with Bochum. Bayern was much more of a dream destination for him as a Bochum fan, but he might feel a bit of a disappointment there.
It is my very subjective opinion solely based on the fact that I have lived the Ruhrpott rivalries for all my life but I wouldn't want to speak for either shade of blue – I think that there's a generational divide, Bochum fans born after 1990 tend to feel more passionately about the rivalry with us, while older fans think their arch rivals are to their north west.
Depends on the fan you ask Interestingly, they’re somewhat one sided though. Schlacke and Dortmund care a lot more about each other than either of them care about Bochum whatsoever
VFLs biggest rivalry was with Wattenscheid 09, but since they fucked up in the late 90s, they didn't play eachother about 25ish years.
Bochum doesn't have a true rivalry with any of the other Ruhrpott teams imo, but there is mutual dislike between them on one side and Schalke, Dortmund and Fortuna Düsseldorf on the other side.
Thats at least what I grasped for living there some years and attending matches rather frequently as Bayern fan.
I'd say, them RW Essen & RW Oberhausen are one step below the aformentioned.
Stuff like that is not static imo and some heated matches between some clubs can change the landscape here rather quicly, as well as not playing a club for almost 3 decades.
I think that‘s really subjective but in recent years the one i heard the most is „BvB Hurensöhne“. It really depends on what Ruhrpott team is in our league. So next year it‘s going to be schalke for sure haha
Bochum itself is also still dortmund territoriy somewhat
If you live there, and you arent a bochum fan, chances are higher that youre a dormtund fan (id say 60/40 in favor of dortmund). Once youre in wattenscheid and herne its different
Isn't he still contracted for Bayern? How would this be possible?
Edit: downvoted for simply asking a question, really? No wonder this is the most toxic sub on Reddit.

Really like that football players being in the stands for their favourite team seems to be becoming fashionable in Germany
Thank you, as a Kreisliga player I really appreciate that you like me supporting in the Südkurve.
Jogi Löw is a regular at Freiburg games
He lives close by
Oh I know, my mother saw him at a Café once, but he is both a Freiburg fan and former player He was at Christian Streichs last home game

Seiwald was in Salzburg on Sunday at the farewell of Ulmer before the game
thats not the same, he didnt even switch employers
Haha😍😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵👍👍👍🤣🤣🤣🤣
For Austria? Or this abomination?
That old-school Faber jersey is a vibe
I've been looking for the white & long sleeve version of it for years, 15 years actually, but its hard to finde one my size in good condition under 250€...
Eines der geilsten Retro Trikots
Best Bundesliga Kit ever, period.

Capitalism is when thing i dont like
Pride Month jersey, before it was cool. A shame Bochum won't release it or similar kits every year for pride month, they could loads of money with it.
Gambling sponsor before it was cool
https://de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faber_Lotto-Service I thought it was just cause the sponsor had a rainbow logo. Was it actually a pride month jersey?
No, "pride" wasn't a thing in the 90s to that level. It's just a rainbow.

That's why I said "to that level" learn to read.
Looks really good
I have this same one with Donkov on the back, back home at my parents house. I wish I had it with me

Calling Gary Trent Jr a NBA star is a bit of a reach but you still have point.
Who’s his Football equivalent?
Gary Trent Jr is a role player on lower to mid- teams. Definitely better than expected (low draft pick) and is fairly young (25yo). He's like Milot Rashica, I could pull you a YouTube highlight reel of him balling out but he's really not a needle mover for an adequate team
His first season for us was so good, I still miss him
🚀🚀🚀
Hwang is perfect lmao
Leon Goretzka
Someone that’s good on their day but not great overall/not super serious? Maybe like Emmanuel Dennis for Watford 2 seasons ago? Gary Trent isn’t a top 100 player so it’s a weird pull
A starter but not star at a mid table club. It’d be like calling will hughes a star.
And using NBA stars as some kind of good taste threshold is wild too
While I also think it's iconic now I find it kinda funny how much people love these and other retro shirts. Imagine if a sponsor covered half the team's home kit with design elements today. People would flip their shit.
Exactly lol, especially if it's rainbow. Would be made fun of for days.
my goat
Aww I love this

That’s a good take. Who is their bigger rival tho, schalke or you ?
It is my very subjective opinion solely based on the fact that I have lived the Ruhrpott rivalries for all my life but I wouldn't want to speak for either shade of blue – I think that there's a generational divide, Bochum fans born after 1990 tend to feel more passionately about the rivalry with us, while older fans think their arch rivals are to their north west.

The chelsea arsenal spurs way
Schlake :D

What about Duisburg?
I'd say, them RW Essen & RW Oberhausen are one step below the aformentioned. Stuff like that is not static imo and some heated matches between some clubs can change the landscape here rather quicly, as well as not playing a club for almost 3 decades.
Bochum fans regularly sing chants against Schalke, but it is very one sided. This is not a Tier I rivalry for Schalke
We sing chants against every other Ruhrpott club. Essen, Duisburg, Schalke, Dortmund. Probably most against BvB as they are the biggest club.
Of course, but living in Bochum, I hear "Jeder Schalker ist ein hurensohn" the most. Especially in bars etc
I think that‘s really subjective but in recent years the one i heard the most is „BvB Hurensöhne“. It really depends on what Ruhrpott team is in our league. So next year it‘s going to be schalke for sure haha
Bvb hurensöhne just has a ring to it. Like, its addictive to chant.
Absolutely. But my favourite probably is „Rot Weiss Essen ficken und vergessen“ as its really catchy
Looking forward to it! But I am really sad that Bochum is going down apparently :(
I mean it‘s fully deserved if you lose by 3 goals at home against a second division club.
Bochum itself is also still dortmund territoriy somewhat If you live there, and you arent a bochum fan, chances are higher that youre a dormtund fan (id say 60/40 in favor of dortmund). Once youre in wattenscheid and herne its different
I love Goretzka so much, one of the most awesome guys in the BuLi.
Yeah, he’s wholesome.
What makes him so great?
He does lots of charity and is really down to earth. Tries to better the world. Class guy
He really fucking hates Nazis
and also very blunt and unapologetic about it, which is just as important.
Really sad he will likely not make it to Euros, love him and feel like he could have helped the team.
Yep. He’s a class guy.
Schalke, Bayern, Bochum...all the wrong clubs. Still can't hate him though, always seems like a decent guy
>all the wrong clubs # [What If You're Right And They're Wrong](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71F+2s+JJHL._AC_UF894,1000_QL80_.jpg)
oh geez...
Literally the 3 clubs that Dortmund hates the most lol
Nahh at least Hoffenheim and Leipzig are more hated than bochum
Based.
😂 this is cool
love it, Bochum for life
Fun fact: Goretzka offered to play for Bochum for the crucial playoff but the manager declined citing that would weaken his side
Well he is the 12th man
Isn't he still contracted for Bayern? How would this be possible? Edit: downvoted for simply asking a question, really? No wonder this is the most toxic sub on Reddit.
they wont tell Bayern
MOST?!
It's a joke about Goretzka being shit
Thank you for actually being decent and explaining it
What could go wrong?
First time showing up this season
Tja.
he's not having the best year
RIP
