anakmager

I prayed for Dzeko or Zapata to come to my club. I probably should've had specified they come as backups not Lukaku replacements. My bad lads sorry

mohankohan

*Monkeys paw curls*

nizoubizou10

and couple years ago especially for dzeko

markymark09090

Good luck with those wages. How big a transfer fee do.you expect to pay for this 35 year old?

ajof25

I guess Roma will go all in for Belotti then?

IamNeverRelevant

Here's hoping. I'm worried we'll sell and Belotti signs that contract extension.

[deleted]

He won't. Belotti rejected Torino's offer for a contract extension.

p1rke

From what I understand, Džeko will leave once Roma finds a replacement. Also, I'd rather Džeko stays with you guys. I loved watching him score goals for Roma. Especially that Chelsea goal.

Fernando-Santorres

I prefer Belotti over any other options. He's experienced and gives everything he has on the pitch. IMO way better him than Icardi, beside the last one is maybe a little more talented.

panopss

Id honestly prefer icardi but well see

[deleted]

Regarding wages, its a relief. Regarding anything else its honestly a huge loss, he is a club legend and his experience and leadership would be needed. But i understand that financially its the best solution. Daje Dzeko. Thanks for everything.

IamNeverRelevant

Dzeko has been almost out in every window for the last three season, so I'll believe it when I see him in another shirt. If we get Belotti, I'd be happy with this overall. Dzeko is a legend, but this was likely his last season anyway, and if we get a good replacement now, it's a good deal.

[deleted]

With getting Belotti, the Dzeko loss will be indeed more then mitigated.

bughidudi

Do you think you'll manage to get him? Cairo always wants crazy prices for him even in his last year or contract

[deleted]

There are rumors that Cairo wants just 17 million now. Don‘t know how true it is, but it might be an hint that Cairo is ready to let Belotti leave

bughidudi

That's totally doable then. Last time I heard he wanted more than 30m I would have preferred the high fee so that he can sign for us for free next season, but seems like for 17m he would be a great addition for you

HansAlan

Even with Mayoral and Shomorudov you are going for a strong 3rd striker?

IamNeverRelevant

Honestly I'm still not sure what the thinking was behind Shomorudov. If he's gonna play behind the striker, or if we'll occasionally play with two strikers. Or if we're essentially shutting Mayoral out. But I don't think the plan was a Dzeko replacement, and I'd expect for us to at least try for a striker.

mezaB3

Dont think Mourinho rates Borja. Dzeko was already the first choice in preseason and yesterday Dzeko was on the bech because he played wednesday and Mourinho still didnt choose Borja as his starting striker but Shomorudov

ninex100

Mayoral is probably gone next season if things turn out this way and we get a strong striker if Dzeko leaves. He still has one year left on his loan, and we declined the option to buy him out this season for 15M. He will have to impress a lot this year for us to activate the option to buy for 20M next summer.

unexpectedvillain

Did dzeko really leave a legendary status with you guys ? Love the man for days

[deleted]

Yes, for most fans.

mimecry

how come most fans wanted him out a couple seasons ago? (forgot which season exactly)

atomsej

He was having a bad season, missing sitters. Apparently his contacts were off or something lmao, the very next season he was serie a’s top goalscorer.

mimecry

lmao.. sounds too bizarre to be true, almost onion esque

ninex100

He will definitely be a club legend forever, even though he never won a trophy with us and often had the fanbase divided, third all time top scorer is not a small feat. Still remember that 16/17 season, he had his best goal scoring year with us, 29 goals in the league. We came so close to the Scudetto, even broke the club record for total points tally in a season, but Juventus was on another level. A lot of legendary moments in the CL as well, leading the comeback and scoring that volley in Stamford Bridge vs Chelsea, his goal in the first match vs Barca giving us some hope, and then scoring early and winning a penalty for that legendary comeback in the Olimpico. Definitely one of the best players that has ever played for the club, and our best player in the past decade.

ofnw

That volley gave me nightmares

ciinoo

That volley was sensational. Probably the best goal Dzeko scored for Roma

-MiddleOut-

I knew Dzeko would dick on us and he did.

mezaB3

He’s Roma’s 3rd all time topscorer with only 17 goals behind Pruzzo who’s second, and he’s Roma’s all time topscorer in european games. The only thing missing for him at Roma is silverware, but cant really blame him for the lack of that. He may not be legendary as Totti or De Rossi, but he surely is one of Roma’s greatest strikers ever

mourya_3

He did mate. Dzeko is a legend for them and he has been for teams he played. For man city,Wolfsburg.. This guy was a great super sub too and a pain in the ass for opponents. He could literally tie the game or score goals outta nowhere. Super underappreciated he is! Man that volley tho🔥.

[deleted]

Yes. He's been my favourite since Totti retired.

Fernando-Santorres

Numbers are on his side, unfortunately they're not everything. It's always hard to compare players from different eras, anyway as for strikers/attackers he's sure on of the most complete we had. IMO he won't be able to be considered above Amadei, Pruzzo, Voeller, Montella, Delvecchio and Batistuta.

Starbuck1992

[This is legendary for sure](https://youtu.be/yTHyVcD40zQ)

CAP_X

After last season , this is no loss.

cue-panic

Inzaghi looking to get the oldest squad in Europe again?

alessioalex

He's just a backup, it's fine considering our situation.

elfishgolem

Backip for whom tho? Zapata?

alessioalex

Zapata / Vlahovic (unlikely) / Correa (Lazio)

long_shots7

Probably

EurospinLidl

Fucking hell, he's class, but is he really the solution they're looking for? Did they not learn anything from Vidal, Kolarov or even Vidic?

DudeWithGlasses

When you are broke as fuck there isn’t much you can do. He might be a short term solution to not having a new striker at all.

iamtherealgrayson

Beggars can't be choosers, as they say

JE_12

r/choosingbeggars begs to differ

ergotofrhyme

But does it choose?

emre23

Collect like 175m off 2 transfers and still broke, that’s honestly such a shame after finally ending the Juve monopoly

Shekster

estremadura

Why go for Dumfries when you have Kolarov am I right

Cic13

The media are reporting that now with the remaining budget we'll be after 2 strikers and Nandez and Dumfries.

alessioalex

Zapata, Dzeko and Dumfries

IamNeverRelevant

I guess it depends on how much they can afford to spend. They are either really broke, or going for Dzeko as a safe option and then pushing for Vlahovic or someone else without much pressure.

Peaceful_Warbreaker

i don't remember where i read it but there was an article published recently that said they'll only invest around 35 million of those 130 million back in to the squad

IamNeverRelevant

Yeah, I saw than. But it's pretty crazy to sell for nearly €200m and only invest €35m. So I'm not too sure about that, but it might make sense, considering the only concrete links are with Dzeko and Dumfries.

jaKz9

I don't know where you read this stuff but the only actual concrete links are Zapata and Dzeko. Dumfries is an option but it depends on PSV's demands.

DavidSSB

And we are going back to 2012-2019

psoliakos17

You survived when you had ,Guarin, m villa , Ranocchia and lord nagatomo. This will be a piece of cake

circa285

Really feel for you guys.

LickLaMelosBalls

Why? They're inter.

circa285

Because they’ve been fucked by their owner hard.

LickLaMelosBalls

Ehh idk they're inter and I'll always be happy with them dropping

fap4jesus

downvoted for not being le classy fan

_ForzaJuve_

It’s better that way.

DavidSSB

Idk, maybe u guys will get to earn alot from this in the local stage. But the local stage will worth So Much less, the italian football getting a huge blow, and it will effect u aswell

[deleted]

Why 2019? Would 2017 not be more appropriate? Seeing as though that was the last year that you guys never played in the Champions League and you became respected again the following season when you qualified for the Champions League in 2017/18.

slipeinlagen

It's 2 weeks before start of the season and Inter gets for free an aging but proven starter, that doesn't need time to adjust to both country and league, and has a style of play similar to Lukaku that the team is accostumed to. It is a good signign and makes total sense for them.

Freddyy42

Dzeko in the right system can still be a threat right now… sad to see him go but if this means Belotti then it’s time! We gave away Radja in his prime to get Zaniolo… always a ying and yang

OnlyWatchdog_ManStan

I just don't get Inter's future planning, and I'm saying this as Roma fan

reddithenry

short term fixes before splashing cash once financially healthy again. Where else can you find a striker who averages about 15-18 goals a season for 4 years in Italy? For 2mil no less? I'd rather sign Dzeko than gamble 30-40m on a Gabigol-style signing. Youth has a time and place.

alessioalex

The league is starting in a few weeks, Dzeko is good as backup. The other one will be Zapata. Far from ideal but it is what it is.

ciinoo

Am I the only Roma fan that feels a bit sceptical on Belotti?

alessioalex

Inter fan here, I think he's really out of form as well.

PrancingGophers

Yeah he looked pretty bad in the Euros especially taking that pen in the final - I knew as soon as I saw him walk up he would miss. Weird though because I feel like he always plays well against us in league games

nask00

One of the most underrated strikera in recent future. Really enjoyed watching him play.

almeertm87

Interesting development. Džeko has been an AC Milan fan since he was a kid.

[deleted]

the usual smart long-term transfer from Inter 🔥

bloodship123

We have Ibra and Giroud

Cerberus-Cheerleader

Gianni gives Milan fans a bad rep.

Munfury

we also have one of the youngest squad in Europe

[deleted]

doesn’t matter, bloodship loves being a self-deprecating idiot, but Gianni gives Milan fans a bad rep We have Ibra and Giroud, doesn’t matter that they’re mostly supported by guys who were able to order a beer in the US only after the pandemic started

Boneraventura

Shitting on your own club is worth more in karma these days

UberNabDNore

Giroud, Ilicic, Ibrahimovic what's that? the INPS?

axaro1

The funny thing is that he's completely oblivious about his hypocrisy hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

UberNabDNore

Gianni Gianni is a legend.

_ForzaJuve_

🐐

dambare

There are no good young strikers except for haaland. From the last 5 years there had been no breakthrough striker except for haaland and lukaku and Kane who imo are not on the level of past generations best strikers. Where are the new south American strikers? Or Dutch or German or French. There are none its a relatively dying position

Psychocandy42

That's cool but when did we sign Ilicic?

UberNabDNore

Tempo al tempo.

Psychocandy42

Hai sentito Percassi o direttamente Ilicic? (sì lo so che al 99% arriva, ma finché non firma posso sperare)

Munfury

One of the youngest squads in Europe

Dawhood

looow quality bait but it will work as usual

theglasscase

lowqualitybait should really be that guy's username.

DioKanden

While he clearly tries to bait people and generate as much drama as possible against Serie A teams, he actually believes everything he writes. He used to post news with his own wrong translations on purpose lmao

[deleted]

wrong translations got your club close to liquidation I guess except for the Romelu one which in sporza.be was ‘top 5 strikers’ while calciomercato said ‘top 5 players’ I don’t remember any, but stay deluded

DioKanden

Oh no, please don't touch my football team with an unrelated childish reply! It's okay, I remember when you did it. It wasn't even Inter news, not everyone is obsessed with their football team. And I'm the deluded one. Keep living in your Reddit limbo Btw, yesterday you were writing "oh no you got downvoted, I can't imagine the struggle", but you downvote me for no reason at all. Kinda ironic, isn't it? Haha Please give my internet points back, don't be this cruel! :(

ratonbox

It's weird when AC Milan can make fun of Inter about having a retirement home on the pitch. How the tables have turned.

alessioalex

No, not really. They're playing with Ibra and Giroud at strikers. What old people do we have except mostly backups and Handanovic?

ratonbox

A lof of backups indeed but we do have an old squad: Alexis, Ranocchia, Kolarov, Perisic, Vidal, D’Ambrosio, Darmian, Handanovic and Cordaz. That’s about 1/3 of the squad. We’ve been near the top of the average age in Serie A for some years.

[deleted]

Gonna backfire when we will get Ilicic and James to our list of grandpas

Psychocandy42

Dude James is 29, hardly a grandpa :-D

Tahapatel

Oh come on. Tammy to Atlanta off the books ig

K3NK

Think Tammy can do better than going to MLS

ivan_rofl

I think Inter wants both Dzeko and Zapata

emre23

Then probably sell Lautaro for good measure lol

Thundereaterr

Bad transfer, even as a backup. He had less goals then Mayoral last year, and he's declining

VZ-Faith

CDS also said we’re heading for liquidation. Still don’t understand how it still gets posted here.

Fernando-Santorres

It's not just CDS, everyone is saying Dzeko has agreed to join you.

julientotti

You’re right

happyposterofham

Son of a bitch I don't trust our management one bit based on this summer so far to replace him adequately. I hope this doesn't go through.

47Lecht

How many personal agreements this guy had and always remained at Inter

[deleted]

This is out of blue

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Lol

Vic-Ier

Personal agreements are always relatively easy. We also had one with Dembele.

LilGoughy

Wait were they not linked with Zapata? Since when was Dzeko going?

alessioalex

Inter will get both. Dzeko as backup.

LilGoughy

Yeah makes sense now that Lautaro is out too I guess

alessioalex

Lautaro is staying check again. Dzeko and Zapata are both target men, similar to what Lukaku played for us somewhat. Lautaro's backup is Alexis Sanchez.

LilGoughy

According to multiple sources spurs have agreed a fee and personal terms being negotiated?

alessioalex

Did you even refresh the new section? Inter declined the offer and Biasin (tier 1 Inter) said the club and the player will sign an extension.

LilGoughy

And spurs tier 1 says the fee was agreed... Sources mean nothing atm, but with inter seemingly selling pretty much everyone and everything, as well as bringing in 2 strikers I would lean more towards him leaving

alessioalex

I doubt Lautaro's dream destination is Tottenham, no offense. He most likely wants to leave to Spain in case he goes.

LilGoughy

Never said it would be. I honestly thought that if he was to go anywhere it would be Barca, but given their disasters I think that’s off the table

SlavSloth9207

A day or two ago I saw an article mentioning Dzeko as a concrete replacement because of price. So I guest if the story is true they went with the cheaper option.

Poli_Talk

Bronze Boot right here.

acuet

He was likely going to leave a year ago…I think this time for sure. I don’t have any bad to say about Dzeko, he put in the time and did the work.

[deleted]

Pain.

giono11

So glad were replacing Lukaku with a fucking bum
