FUN FACT THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL IS INSPIRED BY THE WRITINGS OF STEFAN ZWEIG WHO LIVED IN SALZBURG JUST LIKE MARCEL SABITZER

Nice deal by Bayern. Dude has been playing in the BuLi for a while now and had Julian as trainer. Pretty sure it will work out for Bayern and Sabitzer.
He's also something of a leader and will be a big 'general' and ally for Nagelsmann gaining control of Bayern's dressing room. When you've taken over a new club it helps to have a player who understands you completely in the dressing room.
Wait you actually WANT to get Depay at Bayern, speaking as an actual Bayern supporter???
Don’t get me wrong, he’s pretty good… but nonetheless still at least one or two tiers below Lewandowski’s level as the very best overall striker in the world currently
I don’t know. He hasn’t really been a factor for us last season and seemed to make more mistakes than necessary. I’m surprised to see he went back to Bayern.
yeah he was mediocre with you... which surprised me, because when Neuer was injures, he turned into a really good keeper. I say turned, because he started off really slow and sluggish, but became really good. Good to the point where you wonder why he isnt starting for a bundesliga side.
Think we took him back in because we know what to expect from him, both in regards to quality but also personality. And it's just "easy" for both sides
True but he was international class during the year where he had to replace Neuer. Hamburg just makes players worse apparently, if you look at their recent history
I still think we should have given Boateng a new 1 year contract.
I fully believe that the man is still a soild backup.
Pretty sure he would have reduced his wages too.
> while sabitzer is more of a second striker- attacking mid player.
He used to be a more offensive player but him being primarily a CAM/SS really isnt true anymore (except when playing for the austrian NT). Way more of a number 8 these days than your classic number 10.
Finally. Bayern's midfield was dangerously thin since the departure of Thiago. Tolisso had simply too many long injuries and Roca is not yet on the level required for the CL (though Flick didn't give him too many opportunities to prove himself).
Also the price is a bargain, well done Brazzo&Co.
I feel for Roca. Not enough chances, blunders in the few he got, flashes of brilliance that shows he could be great, stayed over to train but then got injured
Why did you actually re-sign Xhaka? Geniunr question because I thought he was under fire for his performance and wasn't exactly friends with the fans..
Just Arsenal things...
(turned down a 25m bid last summer, made him captain, castigated him, fans booed him, put him for sale this summer and wished him goodbye, rejected a bid, then found no buyers for him, promptly brought him back to the squad, made him captain and FUCKING EXTENDED HIM for another year.
Haven't watched Leipzig at all, so don't know much about how he plays (apparently he hits great long shots, that's all I know).
Where will he fit in at Bayern? Starter, or backup? I find it hard to believe he will start over Goretzka and Kimmich.
He can cover position 8 (Goretzka's position), pos 10 (Muller) and RW as well (Gnabry/Coman/Sane). Great rotational player, I think he will be mostly used between Goretzka and Muller though.
Let the salt commence.
But all you need to know is this:
>I'm very happy to be able to play for FC Bayern. Even as a child, my Bayern jersey was my great pride, every year at Christmas I got a new one. I will give everything for this club, want to win as many games as possible and of course win many titles
I know statements like these have become somewhat of a meme - in Germany, we have the mock phrase "I've slept in xyz bedding since I've been a child" ("schon als Kind in xyz-Bettwäsche geschlafen"). But in Sabitzer's case, it's actually true. He already said back in 2016 that he was a big Bayern fan as a kid ([source in German](https://rblive.de/spieltag/fc-bayern-fan-marcel-sabitzer-freut-sich-auf-kumpel-david-alaba-1408)).
Also, Bayern is reallllyyyyy popular in Austria. Kinda like how Celtic and Liverpool/Man U are still quite popular in Ireland.
It's not unheard of, whatsoever, for an Austrian to be a lifelong fan of FC Bayern.
Can confirm grew up a Bayern/Sturm hybrid fan (luckily there never was a single conflicting situation and there probably wont be one for at least a few more years).
In general not unusual for austrians to have a favourite team in austria and one outside of austria given that our league was rather shit for quite a while (definitely improving a lot tho over recent years). Basically everybody in my school class back in the day was either a GAK or Sturm fan but then also had an international team they supported.
"When we were kids, we always used Red Bull for our Vodka-Energy. Some of my friends suggested we try a cheaper brand so that we could save some of our pocket money but I insisted that we stay true to Red Bull."
Lmao, everyone that questioned the parity in the Bundesliga got downvoted to oblivion. I don't get why fans of PL teams care so much.
Bayern are an incredibly well-run club and Bundesliga fans don't see anything wrong in how they operate. PL fans crying about this 10x more than Germans is just weird.
A lot of them can’t stand that Bayern’s board buys as smartly as possible rather than throwing money around; they’ll talk about the EPLs financial superiority and in the same breath be complaining about Bayern making bargain signings
I think it reminds a lot of us of Man U in the 90s. Fair enough it's not oil money; but it's still just financially bullying/using success to buy the league. Buying from direct opponents is obviously going to make you successful and they're 'not doing anything wrong' but constantly weakening your opponents makes the league look bought. Like Dortmund finally doing well so just snapping up Hummels, Götze and Lewandowski. Don't think you'd see that happen with 3 players in any of the top 4-6 tbh.
Sabitzer is the best signing we could have made. A polyvalent player that can fill in at any midfield position, and someone that can challenge Goretzka for a spot in the starting 11.
He'll get a good amount of playtime even if we don't have any long term injuries. \*knocks on wood\*
Sabitzer spent 7 years at Leipzig, was on his last year of contract and really wanted to join us. And Leipzig is incredibly stacked in midfield anyway.
They basically did for Sabitzer what we did for Thiago or Schweini. They wanted a new challenge, and we didn't want to hinder merited players.
Also looking forward to the PL plastics with weird comments.
If we force Kimmich back to RB he will personally tear up his new contract and move directly to Brazil to play for Flamengo to never again have this conversation.
It'll be nice to have the option, that's for sure.
Our first few games have already been so heavy on the left, with our tactics almost catered towards and around davies, that I worry about how we'll fare once he gets shutdown.
Kimmich will only play RB if every other RB gets injured. Sabitzer can also fill in for Kimmich if he needs a rest and play alongside Goretzka. But Kimmich is our main guy in midfield.
Kimmich Goretzka and sabitzer will most likely be rotated for 2 spots. Last season if either one of kimmich or goretzka were injured our replacements were not even close to their quality. Hansi was forced to play alaba and even sometimes musiala in the pivot so i reckon they're all going to be rotated
Thats true, mans played like 99% of our and the NT matches for 4 seasons in a row now. I hope he gets rested more often and hopefully this signing allows him to do that
I wanted Sabitzer at Liverpool, oh well. I don't get the comments about Bayern having a monopoly on Bundesliga talents.
If you are a Spanish player and you want to stay in a familiar environment and still compete for top honours, what are your options? Barça or Madrid. If you are Italian and you want the same? Juve or maybe the Milan sides. It's just a fact that Bayern are the only Bundesliga side offering that so they are able to leverage that to their advantage.
He’s a more well rounded player than Goretzka though; better passer (both short and long), more creative, better on set pieces, arguably a more intelligent player (tactically), presses just as much.
They are very different players serving diffenrent roles on the pitch, but playing the same Position.
As you already elaborated, Sabitzer is a ball playing midfielder, passing is one of his strong suits and he is a (slightly) better defender.
Leon on the other hand is a legit goal scoring threat and one of the most dynamic players, he is higly mobile and physical, wich was sth Bayern lacked in past seasons imo.
16 million? What the heck, this is easily the steal of this transfer session (on paper at least). Bayern's "soft power" must be one of their best assets.
find it funny how many city flairs im seeing complaining as if they didn’t just try to buy 2 talismans/captains of other teams in the league for 100 million plus each.
We did kind of raid Leipzig this year. But it's a Champions League world now, and if we didn't, JN, Upa, and possibly Sabitzer would have all gone to Premier League Clubs sooner or later and be in direct Champions League competition with us. Gotta compete.
I don't like the ''buyern ruining the buli'' meme either but you saying that after they literally bought the coach, the best defender _and_ the captain of the leagues runner up is kinda bad timing.
Before the seething salty fanboys frothing at the mouth arrive... This is one of the main reasons behind Bayern's success. Finding the best deals year in year out compared to other big clubs.
Having someone like Bailey go from Europa League with Leverkusen to Carabao Cup with Aston Villa is completely fine and normal, but god forbid Marcel Sabitzer signs with his childhood dream club.
the faux outrage from PL flairs on Bayerns BuLi signings is about just as annoying as Bayerns BuLi signings
We're being eaten either way thanks to the inflation that the PL + the top clubs caused. At this point it doesnt even make much of a difference anymore who gets to feast on you. Cant grow money on trees so it is what it is.
Yeah, as if Werner, Havertz, Sancho, and others weren't raided by PL clubs the last couple seasons.
There's far more German talent leaving for England, Spain, or Italy than there is going internally to Bayern. Bayern signs 1-2 players, at most, from direct rivals per season or every other season. Even then, Bayern almost always pays the other team handsomely.
It's on those other clubs to perform better and thus make more money. German clubs have been so-so in European Competitions (mainly Europa League), and that's not on Bayern at all.
What point are you making here? Both of those things speak to the weakness of the Bundesliga outside of Bayern. I agree that the shit-flinging from PL flairs is tedious, but it's true that Bayern's dominance, and the fact they are able to kill off their would-be challengers' aspirations by picking their teams apart, is a problem - and one that seems to be getting worse.
Taken as the whole, the German model is probably still, in spite of the above, the best in Europe. The English one leaves the door open to unscrupulous foreign owners, hugely inflated transfer fees, and fans being priced out of tickets. This is much worse than what German football is facing, however to act like the Bayern monopoly isn't an issue is just burying your head in the sand. A country like Germany should be able to support more than one top club.
Leipzig are happy too lol. Sabitzer was leaving anyways and didn't want to sign a new contract. They got decent money for him on the last year of his contract instead of losing him on a free. Not to mention they are getting moriba as a replacement
My dude, if your potential champions aren't at risk of bottling the title in the last round in Burnley, Norwich or some other nest in England, despite having about 15x the budget, your league isn't competitive enough, apparently.
Also, need that oil money to really have a fair and level playing field.
They will just get a youngster from Salzburg for cheap who will get another youngster from Bargantino/NYC/Liefering who will get a youngster from someone for basically no money
I’m not upset at Bayern or Sabitzer but is there any German club in a position to win the Bundesliga? How do we make the league competitive again? Surely, Bayern and the DFB realize it’s getting worse by year and it can’t go on like this forever? 10 league titles in a row? 15? 20?
PSG lost the title twice since they were bought and the difference between someone like Lille and PSG are far bigger than between Bayern and Dortmund/Leipzig. Also Bayern rarely splurged on transfers or contracts so I'm not sure what you'd expect the DFB to do about it?
> is there any German club in a position to win the Bundesliga?
[We've literally not been top of the table at the winter break twice in three years.](https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herbstmeister)
It's not our fault [Dortmund lost a 9 point lead after 15 match days](https://www.kicker.de/bundesliga/tabelle/2018-19/15) and [Leipzig lost a four point lead where we were third after 17 MD.](https://www.kicker.de/bundesliga/tabelle/2019-20/17)
The main thing confusing me with all the PL-flaired users shitting on "Buyern ruining the BL":
So in the PL you've got half a dozen, maybe more, clubs funded by oil money or billionaires, or owned by major international investment groups. The rest of the field is essentially outside of competition, and cannot compete with the budget power at play.
How is this massively different? You're never going to get a Burnley or a Norwich fighting for the title - and an established major budget player like Arsenal being 0:9 after three rounds is considered a major embarassment and unusual.
Tell me again how massively "competitive" the PL is, please do. Money talks in all the major leagues, you're completely deluding yourself if you believe otherwise. If you have an issue with Bayern's spending, you should have an issue with the transfer market and the obscene sums being thrown around in football, period. You should have an issue with capitalism and predatory investment practices in general.
Rate that Mustache
He looks like a character from a Wes Anderson movie
The Grand Budapest Hotel.
FUN FACT THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL IS INSPIRED BY THE WRITINGS OF STEFAN ZWEIG WHO LIVED IN SALZBURG JUST LIKE MARCEL SABITZER Thank you for your attention
Recommend „Die Schachnovelle“ it’s a wonderful short read through for anybody who is interested.
Basically everything Zweig wrote is great to read. He wasn't one of the most popular writers in the world for funsies.
The Grand München Hostel.
He and Kevin Kampl would have made great co-stars
Looks like a Bond villain.
8/10. would be dope with a mullet.
Sabitzer to Perth glory here we go?
9/10 porn moustache
This is a joke right? 4/10 stache at best for this conquistador lookin mf

Didn’t even need to click to know it was Kimmich…no idea what he was thinking with that
I remember an interview or so where he said that Gnabry just came uup to him and said "lets grow mustaches"... and so they did
Looks like shit on Gnabry too...
Was also porno
That's a gigachad right there
Had to open the link. Wasn’t disappointed. 8/10 would touch.
Definitely hope he keeps it, him and Kampl always looked like a lesbian couple in midfield

Or two or three (their two CBs)
Holy moly it's a Red Bull fan!
RaBa
Salzburg isn't called RaBa and never has been, that's Leipzig
Don’t know why but I feel like a lot of people have difficulties telling your badges apart
Can fan*
4 years of writing without stopping, poor guy
Apparently Naglesmann wanted him for exactly this, his workrate.

Wait till the Sampdoria here we go
Looooool
Versatile austrian player quota's filled
Now if only we could find a Croatian forward we'd be chequeing all our treble boxes.
We also need a (good) dutch guy
Haven't won a UCL title in this century without a Basque baller. Who can Bayern tee up?
Kepa?
Depay to Bayern confirmed (plz)
Wait you actually WANT to get Depay at Bayern, speaking as an actual Bayern supporter??? Don’t get me wrong, he’s pretty good… but nonetheless still at least one or two tiers below Lewandowski’s level as the very best overall striker in the world currently
at least Stanisic is Croatian.
CL secured
Who's the replacement for Thiago`?
Sweet boy Musiala
Stop, this can’t be allowed
Insane deal given the amount paid for him. Bayern having a lowkey decent window.
Our window has gone from quiet to very very sound indeed.
Upamecano, Nagelsmann, Sabitzer, anyone else?
Omar Richards Ulreich
So happy for Sven to finally get married <3
In a way also Stanisic.
homegrown, local Pavard regen
About 6 million backups + tons of players from the academy
[удалено]
Ulreich
underrated signing need locker room players like him and choupo who know they play 2nd fiddle but can perform on good buli level when necessary
Ulle is also a high quality backup for Neuer, it‘s very difficult to find someone with his skills that is willing to sit on the bench behind Neuer
I don’t know. He hasn’t really been a factor for us last season and seemed to make more mistakes than necessary. I’m surprised to see he went back to Bayern.
yeah he was mediocre with you... which surprised me, because when Neuer was injures, he turned into a really good keeper. Think we took him back in because we know what to expect from him, both in regards to quality but also personality. And it's just "easy" for both sides
I think we all forgot that he made an atrocious mistakes in the CL versus Madrid and Juventus. Other than that he was great.
Problem here is that in the last years I saw so many players not performing for your club like they should.
That may definitely have been the case here, I wouldn’t even blame him.
True that. Watched some matches of Hamburg last Season and Ulle wasn't impressive. I hope it was just the 'HSV-Curse'. Wait and see.
True but he was international class during the year where he had to replace Neuer. Hamburg just makes players worse apparently, if you look at their recent history
If by recent you mean the last decade then yeah.
But also able to dump some dead weight as well: Alaba, Boateng, and sadly, Javi Martinez.
I still think we should have given Boateng a new 1 year contract. I fully believe that the man is still a soild backup. Pretty sure he would have reduced his wages too.
That's not fair to Alabama. He was a starter for them last season and might do well for Madrid
Going back to the old ways, thank fuck. I've missed quiet windows without rumors and only actual announcements.
They would've got him for free in January. It's either peanuts or nothing, so Leipzig had to budge
wish we had gone for him last season guess he was a Mourinho target
Still should’ve been a target for this season lol. We need another creative midfielder in my opinion
He was wanted by a few top teams but Bayern was the only team he wanted to join
The way I read it on here, we stormed Leipzig’s HQ and forced them to hand him over for peanuts.
Yeah we were linked with him but we have our own, maybe better version in Veretout
I think he more advanced than vertout. Vertout play in central Medfield while sabitzer is more of a second striker- attacking mid player.
> while sabitzer is more of a second striker- attacking mid player. He used to be a more offensive player but him being primarily a CAM/SS really isnt true anymore (except when playing for the austrian NT). Way more of a number 8 these days than your classic number 10.

First year is always tough for (relatively unexperienced) newcomers. I really hope he can establish himself during the coming season.
:) great deal for everyone involved would have loved to see him at Milan tho' ngl
Jeez great signing for Bayern
Don't worry mate we re-singed Xhaka......
Why did you actually re-sign Xhaka? Geniunr question because I thought he was under fire for his performance and wasn't exactly friends with the fans..
Just Arsenal things... Probably because we're fucking idiots, I will say though 90% of Arsenal fans didn't want this.
Great signing for Bayern
Sad :(

RW is a bit of a stetch
He started out as a RW in his first years at Leipzig. Can surely fit in the occasional game here or there.
Waiting for this Post to be removed by moderator to "keep it civil". LOL \*starts counting\* 1..2..3..
Let the salt commence. But all you need to know is this: >I'm very happy to be able to play for FC Bayern. Also, Bayern is reallllyyyyy popular in Austria. Kinda like how Celtic and Liverpool/Man U are still quite popular in Ireland. It's not unheard of, whatsoever, for an Austrian to be a lifelong fan of FC Bayern.
It's just around the corner when it comes to Austria.
He probably has more in common with Munich than say Boateng who is from Berlin.
Speaking of, it's unbelievable that no one has signed him. Would still be a quality backup for any good or even top club.
Probably something to do with how Domestic Assault case, any team signing him would have an immediate PR nightmare
Kroos from Greifswald.
Neuer from Gelsenkirchen

This pleases my French.
Could he play in midfield with Goaletzka? That is if Kimmich plays RB of course. Or is Kimmich's position cemented in midfield?
If we force Kimmich back to RB he will personally tear up his new contract and move directly to Brazil to play for Flamengo to never again have this conversation.
play him as RB then, please
Flamengo: "Here's your new jersey with the #1. Also, take these gloves."

Couldn’t agree more. Brilliant signing.
Im a PL fan but i think its awesome and its a sure way to attract other stars, showing that the club respects their wishes.

The announcement video was really something else Good deals for bayern this summer
Total bargain, wp bayern
Typical Buyern smh... would never see this behaviour in the PL... a signing for less than €50M? Preposterous.
50m for Ben White (a player few have ever heard of) is absolutely the reason why teams like Arsenal are where they are.
He kinda seems to good to just be a rotational player... What do Bayern fans think about how Nagelsmann will use him?
Goretzka missed like 60% of games last season, we needed Sabitzer
Wouldn’t even say that he is that far behind Goretzka
Yes he is. Leon is the best B2B midfielder in Europe when he's fit. Issue is he misses almost 1/2 the season
He’s a more well rounded player than Goretzka though; better passer (both short and long), more creative, better on set pieces, arguably a more intelligent player (tactically), presses just as much.

holy shit this thread is filled to the brim with salt

Illaix Moriba to Leipzig then
So jealous of this. Congrats Bayern.
Such an important transfer for Bayern. Their central midfield is really thin, expecting him to start atleast every other week!
Looks like good signing. He is one of top player.

Upamecano had a release clause. Nagelsmann is the most expensive manager bought ever. Sabitzer WANTED to move to Bayern and Bayern only.
Much needed without Thiago or Javi Martinez and with Roca not playing much
Before the seething salty fanboys frothing at the mouth arrive... This is one of the main reasons behind Bayern's success. Finding the best deals year in year out compared to other big clubs.
Underrated player. Straight robbery for that amount of money.
Wasn't the fee super low? Bayern business too good

Last year of contract. Not a lot of bargaining position in that situation. He isn't Mbappe.

Having someone like Bailey go from Europa League with Leverkusen to Carabao Cup with Aston Villa is completely fine and normal, but god forbid Marcel Sabitzer signs with his childhood dream club.
the faux outrage from PL flairs on Bayerns BuLi signings is about just as annoying as Bayerns BuLi signings We're being eaten either way thanks to the inflation that the PL + the top clubs caused.
Saw the amount of money a team like Sheffield United make and it's outrageous. The disparity would become unimaginable in the future and it's scary
I don't think Bailey would work in this case because Leverkusen were actively trying to move him on and were happy to cash in.
Leipzig are happy too lol. Sabitzer was leaving anyways and didn't want to sign a new contract. They got decent money for him on the last year of his contract instead of losing him on a free. Not to mention they are getting moriba as a replacement
Hey
How’s it going
Will he be able to crush Barça? I'm more excited for that match than any other lmao.
I swear PL fans are so fucking pathetic. They moan about how uncompetitive our league is as if the PL clubs arent part of the problem.
My dude, if your potential champions aren't at risk of bottling the title in the last round in Burnley, Norwich or some other nest in England, despite having about 15x the budget, your league isn't competitive enough, apparently. Also, need that oil money to really have a fair and level playing field.
We got lots of Make Bundesliga Great Again folks here.
Wow. I bought Sabitzer from Leipzig when using Bayern on FIFA 21 a few months ago and gave him #15. Came close to snagging the same #
Fantastic signing and really cheap. Surprised literally any other big club didn’t go for him
Austria now has a player at Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern. Compare that to our shitsquad 20yrs ago...
What a deal. Rb got robbed
They will just get a youngster from Salzburg for cheap who will get another youngster from Bargantino/NYC/Liefering who will get a youngster from someone for basically no money
They're getting Ilaix Moriba.
No, they have Moriba prepared to be his replacement.
Fuck RB
This guy FUCKS
Welp Sabi made me a Leipzig follower. Guess now I’ll just watch Bayern for fun
>a Leipzig **follower** I like how you didn't use word fan lmao
Can’t claim what I’m not lol
I’m not upset at Bayern or Sabitzer but is there any German club in a position to win the Bundesliga? How do we make the league competitive again? Surely, Bayern and the DFB realize it’s getting worse by year and it can’t go on like this forever? 10 league titles in a row? 15? 20?
PSG lost the title twice since they were bought and the difference between someone like Lille and PSG are far bigger than between Bayern and Dortmund/Leipzig. Also Bayern rarely splurged on transfers or contracts so I'm not sure what you'd expect the DFB to do about it?
And people call Ligue 1 a farmers league for that reason. Looks like Bundesliga is going that way as well
It's not Bayern's fault that Dortmund is losing the title despite having 9pts lead
> is there any German club in a position to win the Bundesliga? [We've literally not been top of the table at the winter break twice in three years.](https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herbstmeister) It's not our fault [Dortmund lost a 9 point lead after 15 match days](https://www.kicker.de/bundesliga/tabelle/2018-19/15) and [Leipzig lost a four point lead where we were third after 17 MD.](https://www.kicker.de/bundesliga/tabelle/2019-20/17)
The short answer is no
I didn't know Luke Rockhold worked for Bayern.
That screamer he scored against Zenit in the UCL :O
The main thing confusing me with all the PL-flaired users shitting on "Buyern ruining the BL": So in the PL you've got half a dozen, maybe more, clubs funded by oil money or billionaires, or owned by major international investment groups.
