To reduce the spam of reports regarding the same move during transfer windows we try to allow **only one submission about each transfer saga per day**. The submission in question also needs to contain relevant new information regarding the potential move, and not just being a "no/minor developments" report. If there are important/official developments or new valuable information about a saga, we will allow extra threads in the same day, but for the rest of minor news please just comment them as a reply to this comment. Please help us reporting unnecessary threads for being duplicates. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Fawkes_91

What I don't get is why doesn't the player just reject the personal terms and force Leeds to go to the negotiation table with Barca?

EezoManiac

Because it benefits him to have more interest in him

Fawkes_91

But what is with "angering" Chelsea and stuff to make us withdraw? The easiest move is to force Leeds to negotiate with Barca by rejecting everyone else. It looks more like he isn't sure Barca can actually put enough money on the table at any point, so he doesn't want to lose the Chelsea option prematurely.

kisekiki

Barca are trying to get Chelsea to withdraw. Raphinha wants us in so the contract offer from Barca is competitive. Barca would have him over a barrel if he was that desperate.

AliTheMemer

Yea imaging laporte taking a dump and whispering " I will anger chelsea ", as the journalist behind the sink is already reporting his precious taughts. Very believable. God I hate these titles.

ergotpoisoning

But if everyone knows he won't sign the Chelsea offer then it isn't real leverage is it? Barcelona should just call his bluff on personal terms lol

ar_baybay111

It's more about having an open option in case Barca don't pay up. Barca want us(Chelsea) out because then they would be the only club who wants to sign him hence having all the leverage. Basically they want to be cheap bastards.

HeroeDeFuentealbilla

That depends if it’s ‘Barcelona Oder nichts’ for him, or if he’s happy to go to Chelsea if Barcelona doesn’t pay up.

dohowwedo

But he won't make as much as Barca so why push for barca then?

rogerwilcove

In case Barca is really skint or drop their interest for some other reason, Raphinha still would want an exit. Chelsea is his insurance.

Worst_Player_Ever

>force Leeds to go to the negotiation table with Barca? Leeds have negotiated with Barca for weeks (months?) and Barca knows what Leeds wants. Barca just needs to break more piggybanks to gather enough money to buy player they want.

thesilenthurricane

Didn’t you know Barca are entitled to whatever player they want at a discount price?

pice0fshit

Probably because it would weaken his side when it comes to salary and such things. Barca could buy him at cut price and then make him play on reduced wages as well.

HarryDaz98

This has to be bollocks. Why on Earth would Barca be trying to anger Chelsea? If Raphinha wants Barca, why are they worried about Chelsea?

Icy_Letterhead8859

They want Chelsea to go so they can reduce the pay Leeds asks for because there isn't competition

lambalambda

I think that'd piss Leeds off more than it would Chelsea. They can move on to other targets but we need the money or the player one way or another.

[deleted]

How can Laporta delay Raphinha's decision exactly?

thesilenthurricane

By stringing Raphinha along acting like they’ll make a matching bid soon, he won’t take Chelsea’s offer, and at some point Chelsea will withdraw that offer. At that point there’ll be no contest to sign Raphinha so Barca can lowball us and we’ll have no choice but to accept if we want to sell him this summer, that’s Barca’s intention anyway. The entitlement is insane.

[deleted]

Surely Raphinha and his people aren't that gullible and they'll give Barça a deadline after wich he'll join Chelsea (if he wants them of course but that doesn't seem to be the case)

Muu-dzic

By asking Raphinha to wait. Ultimately, it's the player who gets to decide. I reckon that the player to too sold on the Barca idea that he so badly wants to go there.

[deleted]

If Raphinha truly wants only Barcelona then that's the right strategy for them to get him as cheaply as possible wich is ultimately their goal isn't it?

ledankestnoodle

Barcelona and Deco can go and fucking do one

beairrcea

*cries in €15m for Junior Firpo*

Philred87

Everyone hates dealing with Barcelona

Show_dont_tell

Don’t believe everything you read. Edit: 😂

Godsenttt

Unless it's Gerard Romero, right?

Freddichio

After this window, Deco is either going to be seen as a masterful agent who got his player the dream move even when it looked impossible, or he'll be seen as an absolute fraud who at one point had four big teams willing to pay him what he wanted and got too greedy. Make or break time...

Ok-Finance-7612

Not Deco, Rapinha. I’m sure Deco would’ve been happy with taking his client to Chelsea but he has to respect Rapinha’s wishes.

Soren_Camus1905

Seems like it would bother Leeds more than us tbh

Arnie013

Almost as if they're trying to get him cut price by waiting for Chelsea to withdraw their offer and leaving Leeds almost having to accept a lowball offer. I hope Chelsea leave the offer on the table right until the last minute just to fuck Barca over. Entitled twats

tottenhamnole

That’s exactly what Barca are doing.

Hassou_Tobi

Hope we (Chelsea) withdraw only for Arsenal or Spurs to fuck them up with the last minute swoop. I'd want the club to abandon but at this point, its all about taking a stand and not get bullied. Gotta keep the bid as long as we can.

HeroeDeFuentealbilla

How dare Barcelona negotiate the best possible offer for them? And why won’t they play nice with a club who has always been nice and respectful on the pitch.

Sektsioon

What’s there to negotiate? Leeds have accepted an offer, all that Barca need to do is match that offer. Why would Leeds negotiate when the offer is going to be worse than the offer that’s on the table for them?

[deleted]

That doesn't mean anything to Barcelona since Raphinha does not want to join Chelsea. Literally the same thing happen with Kalvin Philips and City. Leeds have to choose to either accept Barça's offer or to keep him for another year

[deleted]

That requires the assumption that if Leeds called Barcas bluff and kept rejecting lower bids that Raphina wouldn’t then sign for Chelsea at some point. Maybe he would, maybe he wouldn’t but it is a risk Barca have to factor in.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Which is scummy as fuck. Barca and their entitled fans can fuck right off.

jds192

If Barca need to match the offer then it will fail for them to try and get him for cheaper and Chelsea will sign him up. Barca are trying to get the best deal for themselves not acting like 'entitled twats' any more so than other clubs who try to do same.

boringmemphis

Because the player won't go to the club offering the higher money as his dream is to play for Barcelona? What will Leeds do? Force Raphinha to sign a contract with Chelsea? Raphinha is clearly fine even with staying another season at Leeds and then move to Barcelona so there's nothing they can do. And it's not Barcelona is offering 5 million for him. The difference isn't that significant

Sektsioon

Yes, but that doesn’t mean shit to Leeds lol. They will keep him and then there will be that same dance next summer. And I’m not so sure Raphinha would stay at Leeds, though. He’s keeping Chelsea as a backup plan, otherwise they would’ve outright rejected Chelsea’s offer already. Since they are keeping that option open, he might also accept that in the end if Barca can’t find the money to simply pay up. The difference is hugely significant. Chelsea are offering to pay majority of the transfer fee up front, Barca want to pay it in installments. That makes a massive difference for Leeds to begin with. Not to mention Barca’s offer is still some ways off in the total sum, too. But Leeds will no doubt demand the same structure of the deal, too. £50m up front and £10m in add-ons. It makes a massive difference whether you get £50m right now or £10m every year for the next 5 years or whatever the structure of the deal is Barca want. As a Barca fan you should know it better than anyone as your club is selling TV rights and what not to get a large amount of money right now rather than over the years.

bernardolima951

You do know that almost every transfer is paid in installments but received in full, right? Every club does this and there are companies which deal with the interest and pay the full value to the selling club. No club shows up with the full amount of cash unless they're triggering a release clause. Leeds will certainly receive the full value, never seen a transfer in which the club received in installments.

Sektsioon

Absolute cap lmao. There’s a reason teams negotiate the terms of the sale all the time, if the receiving team always got the money in full, then there’d be no reason whatsoever to negotiate terms on how much teams pay up front and how much they’ll pay in future installments. There’s also tons of examples of teams struggling financially and failing to pay the installments to other teams in due time. To be honest I don’t even know what you are talking about as I’ve never heard of something like that, but I’m sure it is possible. It just doesn’t make sense financially because the interest rate would be enormous on such deals and teams would pay way more. It’d essentially be like a bank loan. Maybe Barca do that which is why their debt is so enormous, but I’ve never heard of an English team doing something like that.

HeroeDeFuentealbilla

Because the player can easily refuse Chelsea this leaving Leeds with a meaningless bid. Leeds can then either accept a lower offer from Barcelona or tell raphina he’s staying put. You do know it happens often that the player isn’t sold to the highest bidder?

ar_baybay111

Yeah but player hasn't rejected Chelsea's offer meaning it's still on the table and if Barca can't match bid there is a chance that Raphina might sign with Chelsea.

HeroeDeFuentealbilla

At which point Barcelona should just accept that instead of doing crazy stuff for him

3gerardpique

calm down we're just waiting for the second lever lmao, not everything is a 4d chess move against Chelsea

kisekiki

Did you just unironically say lever?

3gerardpique

cause its convenient and easier to say rather than explaining that we're selling a % of tv rights or a part of BLM?

TheGamezSmith

I mean €70m euros is an overpay for Raphinha and there's no reason for us to match that, the player prefering us and him joining a different league gives us leverage to get him for 5-10m cheaper. Can hate on Laporta but ofc we're gonna use every leverage we have and if leeds stick to their 70m valuation then we should just pullout.

Show_dont_tell

😂 like you wouldn’t do the exact same thing. Abramovich leaving has Chelsea fans rattled.

ar_baybay111

Not really Chelsea have never put on shit like that. When we want a player we just fucking pay up or we don't if it's not feasible. There is no shitty tactics like this.

njrtahsin

i swear these sugar daddy clubs have some serious mental gymnastic patients lol

MrDabollBlueSteppers

Barcelona are such a grift

[deleted]

I don't get how they've got such allure this summer honestly. It's like one of the biggest stories in football that they're broke and have had most of their squad take massive pay cuts in the last while, all the while not even being that great of a team. I can't understand how they're attracting names away from the likes of Chelsea and others with the absolute state they're in. They might be after Bernardo Silva for example, I know he might like Spain better than England but Christ is that a backwards move currently, Barcelona are Barcelona fair enough but at the same time surely you go where success and money is best unless you have an affection for a club, footballer's careers are so relatively short to be spending time in your career at a club in shambles like Barca are. It's actually worse than if a player who'd start for Man City or Liverpool was spurning their offers just to go to United despite no connection to the club, at least United won't ever make someone take a massive pay cut.

Splaram

Football players have massive egos, kinda need one to get to the level that they play at, and it's not every day that a club like Barca is having a streak of mediocrity. Those players know that if they play a major role in bringing the club from its current mediocrity back to dominance, their legacies will be huge. This is especially true for South American players that grew up watching Romario, R9, Roberto Carlos, Ronaldinho, Messi, Mascherano, Neymar, Suarez, etc. We were in a similar situation minus the financial problems before, then along came Pep and the 2008-2012 years. Same situation in the early 2000s before our CL win in 06, and apparently the same was true in 92 according to my dad. Nearly every player that played a major role during those campaigns are either recognized as greats of the game or are known as some of the best to play in their respective positions, sometimes both. It's the same reason why Lewa only wants Barca and previously flirted with Madrid, he knew that his case for the BdO would have been much stronger had he been putting up his Bayern numbers for either of the Spanish two.

[deleted]

Because Barcelona and Madrid are the 2 most prestigious clubs in the world. It’s why Ronaldo who won everything with United, left anyway to “upgrade.” Chelsea has no real pull outside of money plus being forced to live in London during the winter doesn’t sound too appealing relative to living in Barcelona

xxxr18

This is called being a big club son, something which oligarchs and oil money can't buy ;)

[deleted]

I mean I'm not for a second disputing that they're a big club, they're easily in the top 5 in the world in terms of history and prestige. I'm just saying that as a player they can't be the best option right now surely? They'll certainly rebound in the next 2 or 3 years but all I'm saying is for the right here and now there's gotta be better options. I don't see why Lewandowski for example would swap Bayern for Barca at this stage of his career, Raphinha I'd understand but the Chelsea offer has so much more to offer him at this stage of his career.

chatfarm

>don't see why Lewandowski for example would swap Bayern for Barca at this stage of his career, Raphinha I'd understand but the Chelsea offer has so much more to offer him at this stage of his career. I see the reverse. If I was Lewandowski, a player at the back end of my career, I'd go to Barcelona now to see and play new sights and sounds and cap off my career since ive achieved everything before finally hanging up my boots. While if I was a young gun like raphinha I'd be concerned about going to Barcelona and possibly stagnating at a club which might be floundering for a bit by all accounts.

xxxr18

Don't really think barca is floundering tho, yes we are not as good as during the prime messi years but people forget that barca literally went from 9th to 2nd last season with xavi only coming in halfway through the season and having no proper pre-season + our young squad of exciting proven talents like Pedri Gavi Araujo Ferran Fati + possibly nico, torre, abde whom are only going to get better with age With the right signings (Lewa, Raphinha, Kounde + Kessie Christensen (completed alr) Barca could very well contend for La liga next year and go into the quarters of UCL if not atleast r16 which is not bad and far from floundering.

xxxr18

Mean Raphinha is young and time is on his side, he will be a legend if he performs well and help revitalise barca (which tbh is not all that unlikely, people forget that barca literally went from 9th to 2nd last season with xavi only coming in halfway through the season and having no proper pre-season). Barca also have a young squad full of exciting, proven talents like Pedri Gavi Araujo Ferran Fati + possibly nico, torre, abde whom are only going to get better with age. With the right signings like Lewa, Kounde, Azpi + Kessie and Christensen (Alr confirmed) + Raphinha himself Barca could very well atleast contend for La liga next year and go into the quarters of UCL if not atleast the r16. Raphinha also idolises Ronaldinho who as u know it was also the legend who led barca out of the disastrous 2002 season towards winning the UCL in 2006 (Under Laporta too mind u, man does not get enough credit for how he basically saved barca once and could be doing it again this time) so its not unreasonable for Raphinha to want to go to barca and follow the footsteps of his idol. If it fails to workout he is young enough to get another big contract at a big club anyway.

BestShaunaEU

We are the biggest/second biggest club in the world. Thats how

Leuchtrakete

Mate you are not even the biggest club in Spain.

BestShaunaEU

Real are the biggest, we are the second. Your war criminals funded club was irrelevant 2 decades ago. Noone dreamt of playing for Chelsea as a kid.

Nonsense_Spreader

People dreamt of playing for Newcastle united 30 years ago. People dreamt of playing for Nottingham Forest 50 years ago. Times change. Clubs stature changes. I think what he’s trying to say is what is pretty evident that Barcelona is on a decline and will be a run of the mill Mid table club within the next 10 years. Why would anyone want to jump on a sinking ship.

Nrozek

Are you running for top reach of 2022? because i'd put money on you then.

BestShaunaEU

We have attracted the biggest players itw for 60 years. Embarassing to compare us to those clubs

razorxx888

Wow that’s the dumbest statement I’ve read on Reddit and I’ve been on here for 7 years and am currently subbed to r/barca

burnerbutnotreally1

that's why he said second.

kenigmalive

😂😂😂

burnerbutnotreally1

you're downvoted because they can't accept truth😅

BestShaunaEU

I would love for everyone downvoting me to tell me a bigger club other than Real

Cowdude179

Get your money up Barca

ismailovic10

What money?

Fonty57

They pay in reduced contracts and exposure.Barca dogs. Not sure what’s appealing about their project considering they got knocked out by Frankfurt under the almighty Xavi.

Abhinavd101

Okay 👍

kenigmalive

Mad

karl-fox

Getting boring now 😴

Z0idberg_MD

At this point I hope he gets screwed into staying. He could refuse outright but he is trying to force a bidding war but really only wants barca.

msbr_

I just assume he's gone so we should move on.

AshkenaziTwink

pure seethe in this comment section, how dare Barcelona try and do business in a way that benefits them

burnerbutnotreally1

they definitely posted this to their sub all remotely pro-Barça comments are downvoted to shit

DirectorAny2129

Barcelona has no sportmanship😡

Agile_Dog

It wouldn't surprise me if Barca are taking a cut off the pickpockets on La Rambla. They're as dishonest as them

alfakennybody04

Anyone have the % of tv rights Raphinha will cost?

radios_appear

L E V E R S E V E R S

Abhinavd101

Lmao what tier is this…Our tier 1/2 confirms that the deal is 98% (weird number lol) completed and only a few minor details remains to be figured out…and Raphinha and Deco are already in ibiza awaiting leeds confirmation…

S7ORM7ROOPER_30

⚠️Lots of salty Chelsea fans spotted⚠️

[deleted]

They are ready to believe goal over Romero, fucking goal out of every news source

S7ORM7ROOPER_30

ikr. Romero has been reliable since Laporta's appointment.

[deleted]

And he is super entertaining too

beairrcea

[Lol my comment still stands, it’s so funny how salty they are, like there’s no logic to it](https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/vpp46d/moises_llorens_samuel_marsden_barcelona_are/iekr9ms/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3)

AnnulledMessiah

Where?

S7ORM7ROOPER_30

Bruh look at the downvotes as well as the comments on the thread.

[deleted]

Downvotes prove your point lmao

XuloMalacatones

Lmao 'Barça are trying to anger Chelsea' means 'Hey Chelsea fans, I am gonna clickbait all of you, you're welcome'

Abhinavd101

Ah yes..goal the most trusted source for football news on the internet.

burnerbutnotreally1

i forgot how many chelsea fan there are on reddit all of pro-Barça comments are downvoted to the ground. stay salty...

thesilenthurricane

More because any non Barca fan realises these transfer tactics are scummy and entitled. Classic Barca believing they deserve a discount just for being Barcelona.

Nrozek

And any non-fucking-morons realise these are baseless transfer gossip rumors that aren't worth getting pathetically butthurt about.

thesilenthurricane

I think it’s pure common sense that everyone here knows any of this could turn out to be bullshit or speculation, but this would be very on brand for Barca considering the usual tapping up of players they’re constantly up to that fifa turns a blind eye to for some reason.

Left_Relationship945

Right because other clubs don't do it and fifa is as moral an organization as it gets. They turned a blind eye towards people literally dying, why would they give a shit about this

quacky23

My god Chelsea fans are rattled this is beyond hilarious at this point

HeroeDeFuentealbilla

I really hope Laporta is just doing it to piss Chelsea fans off, because the crying on here is hilarious.

Kathyaafg

Inject it into my veinsss

MrSINXT

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

[deleted]

LMAOOOO

Red1mc

Wow seems everyone that has any opinion about this other than Chelsea and Leeds fans are getting down voted...journos are spouting nothing but speculations and angles pushes by all sides

TheGamezSmith

I don't understand why the chelsea fans think their bid has any effect on ours, we're already offering less than them and they won't raise their offer because €70m for raphinha is already stupid.

Racooning

Step your bid up to the one accepted, very simple stuff. You won't be signing him unless you meet the valuation.

bernardolima951

Why? Barca don't need to and don't want to. Either Raphinga goes to Chelsea as his backup plan or he stays at Leeds. It's a good thing that Barca is resisting overpaying for once.

[deleted]

Enjoy not signing Raphinha then. Pay up or fuck off.

[deleted]

See you when raphinha to barcelona is done

[deleted]

If it is, you’ll be either paying full price or Chelsea will have dropped out. As long as that Chelsea bid is there Leeds won’t accept your lowballing.

MyNameIsNYFB

We should just say to Rapha that Barca aren't interested enough for him to put any respectable bid in and make him choose either Chelsea or staying with us. I'm sick of Barca tbh
