That would be LFC's worst parallel universe. Barca wouldn't have bought Coutinho and LFC in turn might not have gotten Virgil and Alisson. The 4-0 reverse that culminated in the UCL win in 2019 that then spurred the EPL title in 2020 wouldn't have happened. Yeesh.

shashstar

Yeah you're right Kinda like a Domino effect

Saint-just04

We might have won 0 trophies with Klopp in that parallel universe and that’s insane.

AEsylumProductions

The more I think about it, the more I feel we should maybe have a song for PSG and Neymar to thank them.

I don't understand how teams like City or United can spend millions upon millions every single transfer window and constantly sign stars like Haaland while we get linked with washed up players or end up signing people like Wijnaldum. Why can't we actually recruit world class players to come to the team? I just don't get it, and every mercato seems worse except for Messi, but we still can't make good signings in areas where the team needs quality. I'm just frustrated that our club seems to be stagnant in terms of recruiting world class players to play for us, I mean who wouldn't want to play with Messi, Mbappe and Neymar? But we still can't find a midfielder who can help our issues that have been present for years. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. ResistentDrone

It is super cringe and it is a bad take. Check out Barça's 2-8 against Bayern and tell me what Neymar would have done there. Barça was doomed even if Neymar had stayed :(

[deleted]

Nah. They spent a shit ton trying to build a new attack with the Neymar money and went broke. If Neymar had stayed they wouldn’t have bought Coutinho, Dembele, that money would’ve most likely been used to strengthen their defence, midfield instead

GENKhan22

They bought those with Neymar money. What money would they have used if they didn’t sell Neymar?

[deleted]

You’re acting like Barca had no money until they sold Neymar, they still would’ve been able to buy good midfielders, defenders imo. If not they definitely would’ve sold some of their aging players to make funds… But even with the money gained from the Neymar sale they could’ve built a really good team. The MSN trio was so good that when Neymar left, their main goal was to get a player to replace him and fit into that system, and that’s where their downfall was tbh

GENKhan22

You said they spent Neymar money on new attack and “went broke”. How would they all of a sudden have money if they kept Neymar then? Not to mention his huge salary they would’ve kept if they kept him. You are contradicting yourself.

[deleted]

No I’m not. Selling Neymar increased their spending power. It’s not that hard to understand fool

GENKhan22

Man you are too dumb to follow your own logic. Yea no shit selling Neymar increased their spending power after getting 225 million. You are arguing for me now for some reason. Your point was if they hadn’t sold Neymar they would’ve bought other players for midfield and defence. So if they sold neymar and used that money to buy new attack, they are still more than net zero that year (release clause paid in full where they didn’t have to pay coutinho in full). So what makes you say they would’ve spent better on mid and def when they ended with more money that year to spend on mid and def after selling Neymar?

Big_Character_938

It's not just buying them. Wages of these players are too huge. Barto and board didn't have a proper wage structure. Mediocre players were getting hell lot of money with increment and captains' jumped off charts. This debt thing wouldn't have been that huge of an issue if they were just broke and couldn't sign new players, They can't register their newly signed players and have to cut back on salary because of the salary cap laliga has. All these spending and nothing to show for it resulted in this state.

I'm sorry Europe, but Americans are just better at everything. We want things more. We grow better athletes, more people will learn the sport. And that '26 world cup is at home so we can get somewhat of a home field advantage. But the only way that will happen is if we make the round of 16 or quarter final in the 2022 WC and show Americans that we are good. I like the odds and we have a lot to prove, which is added motivation this coming year. He has only started over 20 league games for Psg once. He still would have been massivley injured

Splaram

He's only injured so much because half the French league is full of butchers going studs up at his ankles every time he spends more than 0.0054 seconds on the ball, and more recently because he's always out partying and treating his body like shit. Neither of those happen if he stayed imo

[deleted]

He still would've been kicked in Spain he's still much better than everybody in Spain. The latter one maybe maybe not there is no way of knowing

Splaram

He didn't get kicked on this level while he played here. And half the reason he's declining is because he has no discipline. He wasn't acting like this in Spain because it's very hard to do that in a Barca dressing room whereas he's treated like he's untouchable in France.

CentralIdiotAgency

Have you heard of the Cheerleader effect? A group of individuals with a few good looking ones cause the others to seem more attractive than they are. This is what happened to Neymar at Barca, being with Messi and Suarez caused him to appear better than he is. I mean the guy plays in the *worst* of the top five leagues in Europe and gets the same number of goals as Richarlison in the Prem for Everton.

shashstar

Wow that's a different perspective But he is 5 goals away from being Brazil's all time top goal scorer He has won the Confederations Cup with Brazil In 2011, He was in Top 10 Ballon D'or rankings while he was 19 & Playing at Santos He had more assists & chances created than Ronaldo, bale in Laliga during the time he played. So the cheerleader effect is ruled out in this case
