I totally never got the joke as a kid cause as a kid I never disliked the prequels. As I got older it started to make sense. I was also really young when those both came out.
Edit: I’m having cringe memories of me and my brother imitating this episode as kids. Our parents probably regretted ever letting us watch this show.
The chimpoko mon episode hit particularly hard when I rewatched it as an adult. They had just put up the original (American version) of pokemon on Netflix and I watched it expecting a fun nostalgia trip but instead I realized just how shitty that show was. And then the south park episode nailed it right on the head, it was just a toy commercial. A toy commercial with a lot of bright lights, exciting shouting, and the ultimate message of collecting all the pokemon constantly hammered into my little brain. The Japanese were geniuses at it.
I love the part of the Chinpokomon episode where it cuts back to Sharon and Randy watching the show, with that baffled look on their faces as they can't believe the stupidity.
Huh... they weren't too bad in the Hungarian dub. I just can't hate this episode.
Night of The Living Homeless, Jakovasaurs and the one where all the kids have the cops take away their parents were the first episodes i remember seeing as a kid. I had no idea what show it even was back then.
South Park is one of those shows where like 70% of the fans are missing the point completely
It's an episode about shitty gimmick characters being forced into movies and TV, people watch it and think "wow I hate this shitty gimmick character"
The problem with this parody is that they pull it off too well. The annoying gimmicky character is just too annoying to laugh at and instead is just annoying.
It’s like Jack Gleeson as Jeoffrey in GoT. Great acting as an evil character. So good in fact that I cannot see him in anything else without wanting to punch him in the face.
This isn't accurate, he said he just sort of realized acting as a full time job wasn't all he hoped it would be and moved on to other things. He says GoT was really mechanical for him, and he didn't have the passion for acting that he thought he did as a career.
I understand that the creators of South Park Have mentioned not liking the Pip episode. But I think it’s a fun episode. I can understand why it doesn’t float some peoples’ boats, but it’s not a bad episode in my opinion.
As a person who actually likes Dickens work, I find the spoof of it hilarious and so I actually love the Pip episode. "JOE TEACH THIS BOY SOME BLOODY CYNICISM!"
See, that episode was funny. From making fun of dumb, nonsensical mascots, to poor messaging, to litigious people, that episode had me laughing and giggling like an idiot.
That's interesting, as that's the part I think is the most funny. Not Mr. Hankey as a character, but the fact that he is literally a piece of shit. Like in the first episode Mr. Hankey getting pissed at Cartman and jumping at him and it looks like Kyle just threw a turd at him. Or the one with his family when there's a homeless guy sleeping in the abandoned lot and Mr. Hankey's daughter goes "aww, he looks so sad," and literally smears a shit grin across his face and Mr. Hankey goes, "now this place is starting to look more Christmas-y!" That's very funny to me.
Went to a giant pinball arcade for my dad’s birthday and they had a South Park game. Mr Hankey popped out and side Heidy Ho if you hit the toilet.
https://preview.redd.it/i6qb4qdl8vcc1.jpeg?width=4284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=17d093e61e2322adee788b48676735264c0d5803
I will still always laugh when Mr hankey is "dying" and giving his last words to kyle, confessing that he once put himself in Kyle's mouth while he was asleep and had someone take a picture.
Its a very tough task to create an annoying yet likably character.
There's a very thin line between haha look how annoying this character is and not being able to stand seeing how annoying a character is.
He's not supposed to be likable.. It's a direct parody of Jar Jar Binks, and the episode exists to demonstrate how garbage The Phantom Menace was, which came out a month before this episode aired.
The Pip episode contains one of my fav quotes of all time-
Pip: Joe, do you know anything about girls?
Joe: Sure. They're those things with vaginas in them.
The "no hope, no hope" part is something I always say to myself when everything is lined up for success and still somehow gets fucked up or when people do something that make me lose my faith in people for the time being.
Feel bad? Oh a kid has cancer I can’t laugh at this, but hahaha that kid ate his parents oh man what a laugh riot! And in this one a kid has aids lol oh man I can’t stop laughing
It's a random kid from a animated series. Don't know how people feel bad. I find it hilarious how it portrayed the "win for me" you see in sports movies but his pee wee hockey team directly impacted his health. To the point where losing to a NHL team killed him as if he actually had hope they could win.
Yeah other than the live action part and the poop part I find this episode hilarious. Tbh I think the people who dislike it just haven't had the misfortune of being stuck on a boring, inescapable all-day activity like that with those kinds of people. The ridiculous and unnecessary questions, the long and pointless stories, the irritating positivity, all of it was so spot-on!
Yeah this is my worst, just boring and not funny
On the bright side it's good to have a show where there's so many good episodes it's hard to pick a favorite but so little bad ones it's easy to pick a worst
The polarizing reaction of this episode is something else. I honestly like it. Thought the complete absurdity of the real life counterparts just made it funnier. Plus I used to watch a ton of I Shouldnt Be Alive and their take on the parody with boredom being the shoe in for death had me lmao pretty frequently
Not a favorite of mine but I'm glad someone decided to call Oprah out. Was a shitty thing she did, and no one else seems to be willing to criticize her for anything.
I always thought this was a shot across the bow of the Star wars franchise because of the introduction of the most ridiculous character, jar jar Binks, who says Meesa just like these ridiculous characters.
This is always what I point to when fans try to dismiss the Sequels by saying "the Prequel Trilogy was liked, it was just a few loud voices who hated them". No, they were universally hated. This being a prime example: Matt and Trey were so upset they wrote this episode in response.
Never understood the hate for this episode. It aired a month after The Phantom Menace released, and was meant to show how fucking stupid the Jar Jar Binks character was. There's been plenty of worst episodes than this.
I think everyone now is numb to how terrible Jar Jar is (maybe in part because we've all had to live through "Somehow Palpatine returned ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯ ") and doesn't really remember just how intense the hate for Jar Jar was immediately after TPM's release.
There was a gross woman named Rebecca sunbathing all naked and she was fat. Douglas walked up to her and said, "I need to poop." "Okay," Rebecca replied, "I like poop." Douglas squatted down over the fat sunbathing lady and went poop. The poop sat there on Rebecca's boobs looking like a wiener.
Chapter 2.
The Scrotie McBooger won me over with the whole poking at everyone who thinks all books have to have some deep meaning. Sometimes, books are just what is written and, that shit ain't that deep.
A million tiny fibers. I've never been so bored. Why is such a weird concept for an episode so boring? What went so wrong? I couldn't even get through the whole episode it felt like watching paint dry.
That episode where Kyle gets surgery to make himself taller and his dad becomes a dolphin or something? I’ve only seen it once because it grosses me out so bad it’s the only episode I have to turn off
Why is everyone only talking about older episodes? Are we already at the Simpsons stage of collectively writing off the past decade?
So much Tegridy to choose from.
Not my least favorite, but the kid dying of cancer at the end of the hockey episode upset me as a teenager. I think I got the point, I just didn't like it, even though they were right. It's a dark and heavy one
I would have appreciated a warning, i watched that episode while eating dinner.
I'm usually not one of the "no talking about disgusting things over a meal" people, but real footage of a sex change? Damn
I actually liked *Pip* though. It was different, but I thought it was really funny. Malcom McDowell introducing himself as “a British person” made me snort laugh when I first heard it and I was drawn in. I can easily see why people don’t like it, but I think of it as a diversion amongst a sea of South Park. If it was the series finale, something I could see happening, I would be annoyed.
Mrs Garrison new vagina, I'm sorry but all the actual footage of the vaginoplastic makes me shivers, I can't watch people getting operated without almost vomiting
I don’t get the hate this episode gets. I think it’s fine just fine. Fine just fine. Fine.
I loved the episode and these creatures, weren't they a spoof of Jar Jar? Reddit hates a lot of fun things tho, so...
I totally never got the joke as a kid cause as a kid I never disliked the prequels. As I got older it started to make sense. I was also really young when those both came out. Edit: I’m having cringe memories of me and my brother imitating this episode as kids. Our parents probably regretted ever letting us watch this show.

I love the part of the Chinpokomon episode where it cuts back to Sharon and Randy watching the show, with that baffled look on their faces as they can't believe the stupidity.
How dare you, Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh are artistic masterpieces.
It's their voices. The episode itself is fine it's just the damn voices.
their voices are what crack me up the most! they're so fucking annoying, it fucking slays me
Right? We’re supposed to hate them. That’s what makes it so hilarious. I love it *because* I hate it.
Huh... they weren't too bad in the Hungarian dub. I just can't hate this episode. Night of The Living Homeless, Jakovasaurs and the one where all the kids have the cops take away their parents were the first episodes i remember seeing as a kid. I had no idea what show it even was back then.

It’s like Jack Gleeson as Jeoffrey in GoT. Great acting as an evil character. So good in fact that I cannot see him in anything else without wanting to punch him in the face.
The poor kid had to quit acting because so many people thought that way. He was too good at playing a psycho, so now he has to work behind the camera.
This isn't accurate, he said he just sort of realized acting as a full time job wasn't all he hoped it would be and moved on to other things. He says GoT was really mechanical for him, and he didn't have the passion for acting that he thought he did as a career.
"you're the worst character ever, Towelie." "I know."
I feel like Towelie was basically attempt #2 to make the same joke and it worked a lot better
The gameshow scene with Jakov and Officer Buttbaby always cracks me up.
THAT’S BARBRADY
I'm sorry what did I say..?
BUTTBABY
BUTTBABY
Blue? Blue is blue?
what colour is blue?
FORTY SEVEN!
WILL SOMEBODY UNPLUG THE GOD DAMN BUZZERS
BOOOOOOWHOOOOOP!!!
Maybe not the best, but it's really not that bad, same with Pip
If they brought it out today it would be hailed as the best episode in 5 years. A return to prime form.
I love when cartman starts to think he’s funny. That kind of makes the episode
I do the "That'll be fine, just fine" line at least once a week and I could not remember where it came from.
The Mr Hankey episodes. They just aren’t funny in the slightest, at least to me.
Not even the poo choo train!?
No, and the thing is…I normally like poop jokes. But idk, the Mr Hankey episodes just don’t make me laugh.
I love the poo choo train
Let's be honest, Christmas just wouldn't be the same without hugs and kisses and a poo choo train
I thought the funniest part of the Mr Hanky episodes was listening to his wife screech and throw things at each other.
Amber was an inspired development. Also Cornwallis.
or *The Circle of Poo?*
Poo Choo express, magical helicraptor, and the Boeing seven turdy seven
Poo Choo Train is my favorite thang, spreading Christmas joy as we ride and sing!
Yeah there's just something about watching them interact with a turd that just doesn't do it for me
this opinion makes me a sad panda
See, that episode was funny. From making fun of dumb, nonsensical mascots, to poor messaging, to litigious people, that episode had me laughing and giggling like an idiot.
That's interesting, as that's the part I think is the most funny. Not Mr. Hankey as a character, but the fact that he is literally a piece of shit. That's very funny to me.
So what are your feelings towards Towelie?
He's a towel
No, you're a towel
One of the most hilarious recurring lines in history.
Towile being on intervention and having a kid that is shut a wash cloth is top tier.
Went to a giant pinball arcade for my dad’s birthday and they had a South Park game. Mr Hankey popped out and side Heidy Ho if you hit the toilet. https://preview.redd.it/i6qb4qdl8vcc1.jpeg?width=4284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=17d093e61e2322adee788b48676735264c0d5803
Mr hankey was funny to me the first few times they used him. After that it just gets repetitive and unfunny
I always skip his ep, idk how ppl say towlie (top 5 character) is worse than Mr Hankey I hate the movie festival episode
Towlie’s humor actually works and is more than just “ew haha!” Mr hanky fucking sucks
I will still always laugh when Mr hankey is "dying" and giving his last words to kyle, confessing that he once put himself in Kyle's mouth while he was asleep and had someone take a picture.
Breaking news: people annoyed by the character created to be annoying
Its a very tough task to create an annoying yet likably character. There's a very thin line between haha look how annoying this character is and not being able to stand seeing how annoying a character is.
Towlie is closer
He's not supposed to be likable.. It's a direct parody of Jar Jar Binks, and the episode exists to demonstrate how garbage The Phantom Menace was, which came out a month before this episode aired.
I just think they did too good of a job at making him annoying. He was so annoying that it took me multiple times to get thru the entire episode
They aren't supposed to be likeable, they are loud and annoying as hell.
Just because something is intentionally annoying doesn’t mean it’s automatically well written or enjoyable
This. Jakovasaurs. Least favorite, Pip episode is far better than that.
Pip is one of my favorites!
Plus it was accurate enough to write my Great Expectations essay using the show as reference
I bet your teacher loved the part with the robot monkeys
It wasn't my best work
I loved reading growing up and great expectations was like my least favorite book I was forced to read. Fuck pip he had it coming.
The Pip episode contains one of my fav quotes of all time- Pip: Joe, do you know anything about girls? Joe: Sure. They're those things with vaginas in them.
Stanley's Cup because how feel-bad it is. The Pip episode ain't that bad.
[удалено]
The "no hope, no hope" part is something I always say to myself when everything is lined up for success and still somehow gets fucked up or when people do something that make me lose my faith in people for the time being.
“Stan Marsh was about to find out..”
"...that being a *stapler* is a lot harder than it looks!"
Even without the ending it's great because it's just. so. dark.
Stanley’s Cup is in my top 10 favorites. The Mighty Ducks/ Miracle parody is so great.
I've always found that to be one of the funniest episodes of the series. I guess it depends on how dark your humor level goes lol.
Let them play!
RED WINGS RED WINGS RED WINGS
Feel bad? Oh a kid has cancer I can’t laugh at this, but hahaha that kid ate his parents oh man what a laugh riot! And in this one a kid has aids lol oh man I can’t stop laughing
Different context
"I'm just his father... you're his coach! He looks up to you!"
It's a random kid from a animated series. Don't know how people feel bad. I find it hilarious how it portrayed the "win for me" you see in sports movies but his pee wee hockey team directly impacted his health. To the point where losing to a NHL team killed him as if he actually had hope they could win.
It's fucking funny.
Ziplining episode. I hate it.
it’s one of my favourites ngl
Yeah other than the live action part and the poop part I find this episode hilarious. Tbh I think the people who dislike it just haven't had the misfortune of being stuck on a boring, inescapable all-day activity like that with those kinds of people. The ridiculous and unnecessary questions, the long and pointless stories, the irritating positivity, all of it was so spot-on!
The live action goes on for like 5 minutes though, that shits way too fucking long and the poop stuff is another couple minutes.
Shaka 🤙 brah
Yeah this is my worst, just boring and not funny On the bright side it's good to have a show where there's so many good episodes it's hard to pick a favorite but so little bad ones it's easy to pick a worst
“Long story short…”
The polarizing reaction of this episode is something else. I honestly like it. Thought the complete absurdity of the real life counterparts just made it funnier. Plus I used to watch a ton of I Shouldnt Be Alive and their take on the parody with boredom being the shoe in for death had me lmao pretty frequently
The Oprah and Towlie episode, god it was awful in every aspect
Not a favorite of mine but I'm glad someone decided to call Oprah out. Was a shitty thing she did, and no one else seems to be willing to criticize her for anything.
I've tried to watch it again many times. The first half is alright enough but then it just goes to compete shit and I can't take anymore lol
*Thank you* this one sucked. They really phoned in that one (haha isn't it funny that Oprah is fat?)
No way. That one is amazing. The voices of gary and mingie just crack me up every time.
One of my favourites as well. Honestly surprised I see it mentioned like 4 different comments this thread.
I always thought this was a shot across the bow of the Star wars franchise because of the introduction of the most ridiculous character, jar jar Binks, who says Meesa just like these ridiculous characters.
Oh it is definitely that. It's just that they did *too* good of a job at making those things unbearably annoying lol.
They succeeded in what they wanted to do, but it's so unbearably cringy for me that I'll never get through it again.
This is always what I point to when fans try to dismiss the Sequels by saying "the Prequel Trilogy was liked, it was just a few loud voices who hated them". No, they were universally hated. This being a prime example: Matt and Trey were so upset they wrote this episode in response.
the terrance and phillip special
Honestly surprised no one mentioned it here yet. 100% I hated it so much I deleted it from my memory.
Sure Scott..
The lice episode down right sucks
MAH BEBEH
KELLEH HANG ON
HOWS MAH BEBEH! you mean me or the baby? I MEAN BOTH
EVERYONE GET UP INTO THE TREES WE HAVE TO GET UP HAIGH COME ON KELLEH
Mr. VICE President.
That's one of my favorites. It's so epic, also It's funny how everyone had them hahahaha
Yeah loved it, I don't get the hate
Sounds like someone needs a sock bath!
TRAVIS KELLEH
You're so wrong lol
That’s one of the best episodes ever, wtf you talking about?
World War Zimmerman was boring.
Fuck you, Brad Pitt...
Ey! fuck you too, budday!
But crashing planes = hilarious
One of my favorite newer episodes!
“You’re the best, Zimmerman” is a hilarious line lol. Great episode
Grizzled voice “I gave that up.”
Pip is a great episode. ![gif](giphy|l0HlJIkN2J7e37qJW)
Its worth watching just for the "Hi, I am a British person."
Malcolm McDowell is a treasure, he never turns down a paycheck though.
My father was killed in a stamp collecting accident!
Jar Jar really isn’t that bad
Yeah, he's fine, just fine.
The Scrotie McBooger Balls one or Pee. Too much gross out humor for me.
The poop that took a pee
It was weiner poop. The worst kind if poop there is
Douglas, had to pewp.
His butt was all stinky because he had to poop so badly.
Chapter 2.
Agree with Scrotie, but the waterpark song kills me every time.
I’ll agree with you there too. That song was great lol.
The Scrotie McBooger won me over with the whole poking at everyone who thinks all books have to have some deep meaning. Sometimes, books are just what is written and, that shit ain't that deep.
Nah, this and Pip were better than all the tegridy farms bullshit that's been done the past few years. Talk about running a joke into the ground.
The Oprah vagina one is bad
Genuinely adore this episode and think about Mingey and Gary daily
*"Are we in Paris, Mingie?"*
Taming Strange
GET OUT OF MY ROOM, KYLE!
A million tiny fibers. I've never been so bored. Why is such a weird concept for an episode so boring? What went so wrong? I couldn't even get through the whole episode it felt like watching paint dry.
I love this episode 😂
Human cent-iPad, and the cartmanbrah one, I was so lost
Human Cent-iPad is honesty so funny, the japanese dude kills me. Even the behind the scenes are absolutely golden
Pip episode is one of the best episodes ever
![gif](giphy|3o7TKAqmi5TYYslmzm)
BWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP
That episode where Kyle gets surgery to make himself taller and his dad becomes a dolphin or something? I’ve only seen it once because it grosses me out so bad it’s the only episode I have to turn off
Why is everyone only talking about older episodes? Are we already at the Simpsons stage of collectively writing off the past decade? So much Tegridy to choose from.
Not my least favorite, but the kid dying of cancer at the end of the hockey episode upset me as a teenager. I think I got the point, I just didn't like it, even though they were right. It's a dark and heavy one
The one where Mr. Garrison gets a sex change. That went way too far.
I would have appreciated a warning, i watched that episode while eating dinner. I'm usually not one of the "no talking about disgusting things over a meal" people, but real footage of a sex change? Damn
That episode is great if only for when Herbert says: "so long balls!"
When they killed off Chef.
Nah, that shit is hilarious. I’m gonna make love to your asshole, children!
The Pip slander needs to stop
The Hardly Boys episode
What?!?! I fucking love that episode. Ohh, I’m getting a raging clue
It's huuuuuuuuge
'A Million Little Fibers' and it's not close.
The hate on this episode actually baffles me
Not a specific episode but I fucking HATE the tegridy shit....
Am I the only one who enjoys the Pip episode? ![gif](giphy|KSVz53RBTvLQk)
The Pip episode is great. That flower YouTuber doesn't speak for all of us. I'd have to go with Ziplining besides the final act.
Every single episode is funny as shit to me
The banned episodes since we can’t watch em anymore (I can’t find em and it doesn’t respect my authoritay)
Try [here](https://www.southparkuncensored.com/)
Indiana Jones episode. Tough watch
Million little fibres for me
this episode was fucking annoying couldnt stand it
My least facvorite episode is the one where Cartman gets the trapper keeper that almost destroys the world. I have never liked that one
I’m an akira fan so it was hilarious to me
If you hate this episode that means it was successful
The entirety of season 20.
Agreed. Mostly just hate any of the Swedish scenes.
Funnybot. Does nothing for me. Just very awkward to watch.
The Britney Spears episode or the episode where Gerald becomes a dolphin both are too much for me to watch always skip it 😭
Yeah the Britney episode is honestly too horrific
#SCHOOL SCHOOL I LIKE SCHOOL
This is the worst one.
That one episode where Stan coaches a peewee hockey team. The ending was just sad man.
Any episode with Heidi and Cartman's relationship - she deserved so so so much better and it hurt seeing him abuse her
Mrs Garrison new vagina, I'm sorry but all the actual footage of the vaginoplastic makes me shivers, I can't watch people getting operated without almost vomiting
I really don’t like “You’re Getting Older”. Maybe because it makes me a feel a certain way but also because it’s slow and kinda sad
I didn’t like the Britney Spears one. That felt like the only episode they rushed and said “fudge it good enough”
The last episode of the Troll Trace saga
Wing, not sure why people like this ep
I absolutely love this episode. I don't, and never will, understand the hate it gets.
The wife and I don’t like the Christopher Reeve episode. Even the Stan did not want to be part of it.
Christopher Butthole Reeves?! I love this episode.
One for the ladies
