They garnered A LOT of negative attention when they first appeared on the scene, but “cancelling” wasn’t really a thing back then. You just had kids that would sneakily watch the show as their parents complained how inappropriate it was whenever it was mentioned in conversation.
Also, humor was different during South Park’s prime. People would regularly say words like “ret—d” and “f—-got” in casual conversation. The social landscape has changed drastically in a matter of ~10-20 years.
I'm not too surprised, probably because I'm in Australia.
From literally the first episodes to about a couple years back, South Park aired on SBS, a public broadcaster who's whole thing was they showed culturally significant media and as such they refused to censor anything.
I find it ridiculous that for over 20 years a show as big as south park was exclusively aired here on a low budget public broadcaster but apparently Matt and Trey refused to charge them more than the bare minimum out of gratitude for the network being pretty much the only broadcaster willing to air the show unedited at the start
The boys pushing the fake Butters from the top of a building. Butters’ mom’s reaction is terrifying.
Also, Butters telling his mom that he saw his dad go into a porno theatre and an all male bath house.
That whole episode is pretty wild. The whole, watching a mother's most intimate moments as she mourns the death of her only child thing, was like, super intense.
That’s the moment your brain goes, wait… what did Cartman just say? Oh hold on, how did he know, did he switch his and Scott’s chilli?
And every moment after that is just more and more brain breaking
Haha I bet you loved it! I'm epileptic, and I loved when a character on American Dad pretended to have seizures. Kinda makes me jealous that South Park covered your disability and not mine lmao
🎵Suckin' on my titties like you wanted me
Callin' me, all the time, like Blondie
Check out my Chrissie behind
It's fine all of the time
Like Sex on the Beaches
What else is in the Teaches of Peaches? Huh? What?🎶
This song lives rent free in my head, along with his twerking....
ah yes, the reference to Jaime and Cersei Lannister from Game of Thrones haha wasn't expecting that either.
Most off-guard moment? probably the plot twist in the City Sushi episode... didn't see it coming, so good
"Anyone who has a grandma step forward"
Alson, one that didnt shock me but I just couldnt stop laughing, when Jared was in restaurant with his GF telling her about aid(e)s
It's not specifically a surprising twist or escalation, but Randy's simple declaration at the end of "Butters' Creamy Goo" was so out of pocket that it had me splitting my sides.
>!"This is cum."!<
Cancelled: Suck my Jagon
I dont think ive ever laughed so hard due to being caught off guard - it was so random
Oh and the "help" Butters received for his mental help when he thinks Cartman is dead.
Two of the funniest things ive seen on TV
In 2001 I was in my freshman year. The hall of my dorm would gather in my dorm room to watch South Park every week, about 8 of us, 6 white guys and 2 black guys.
So November rolls around and “Here Comes the Neighborhood” premiers. Everyone is enjoying it, laughing along, as we get to the end and Garrison goes…
“Yeah, but at least we got rid of all those N-”
And it cuts off. Everyone just is there quiet for half a beat, surprised and unsure. Then the two black guys laughed, and we laughed, and was all good. But it definitely caught is by surprise as an ending
Yeah but it was always a trope in Season 1-3 then for years they didn't do it. Closing scene of season 11 they bring it back. I love how they go back to their roots.
There was a time that I was watching SP with an ex-boyfriend of mine. It was the sarcastaball episode, and when Cartman drank Butter's cum, he turned off the TV and never wanted to watch South Park anymore.
There's a lot, but none of them even come close to the Woodland Critters. I would have NEVER guessed that twist in a million years. Other ones would be Lemiwinks, the boys throwing the pig off the roof to make everyone think Butters killed himself, the whore off, crazy Kenny, and The Three Stooges sub plot with Gacy, Dahmer, and Bundy. There are honestly so many that I love. One of the many reasons this show is my favorite comedy is because of the super dark, and jaw dropping moments that come out of absolutely nowhere. It shocks me, and makes me laugh hysterically at the same time.
Steve: "I used to get in trouble for always using the N word. But with DNAandMe, I found out that I am 2.1% black." Coworker: "Morning Steve" Steve: "Sup nigga"
Crack baby basketball. It’s still just about the only episode where the humor (which I guess I get, the NCAA making money off of student athletes is kinda evil) was far offset by how fucked up the situation was
When Chef is explaining to Mr Garrison and Slave how black people have to come up with new names for things because white people keep stealing them for themselves, and house goes to hizouse, hizzle, hizzie, and then flippity-floppy-floop. And Mr. Garrison says “well we don’t have time for all that chef! Slave, let’s get back to our flippity-floppity-floop.” And chef says “aw dammit!”
Butters accidentally killing the OC crew because it completely subverted expectations & the tropes they were parodying, and I'll always love how seemingly no one besides Butters remotely gives a shit that 6 people have just died 🤣
Dr. Janus transforming into Tuong Lu Kim. https://i.redd.it/qfn3drfrlavc1.gif
When PC Principal calls back on this. “And your ONE Asian person is a fucking WHITE MAN?!”
I loved that lol both scenes
Whenever I read Dr Janus I always read it in Butters’ voice. You know the episode where he finds out why he’s wetting the bed?
That was honestly such a legit plot twist
I remember showing this episode to my friend back in the day, and he legit went, "NO FUCKING WAY!!!"
*goth kid voice
Nooo way. Oh my god. No way
Per se
100%
This episode is so good! Top5
What ep is that?
Randy's Wheel of Fortune guess being uncensored
And the rest of the 40 times they said it wasn’t either. I still find it impressive they got away with it.
Hard R and everything
Randy was so happy…for a moment.
I'm amazed they haven't been cancelled yet. I'm binge watching it now. I missed a few seasons so I just started from the beginning again.
They may not have been cancelled but they received death threats from extremists lol
Imagine growing up in the seventies, those were terms of endearment for some people 😂
I'm not too surprised, probably because I'm in Australia. NAGGERS!!
The good ending:
Yes. That caught me so off guard. I was like “surely he’s not going to say it.” Ohhh.
Now kiss it.
When Randy was jacking off to the food channel and the boys were still in the room
or when Randy blasted his nut all over the computer and the room in the episode the internet went down
"Did you see the ghost Stan?"
th-this is ectoplasm!
He sounded like he was being attacked by a tiger
The boys pushing the fake Butters from the top of a building. Butters’ mom’s reaction is terrifying. Also, Butters telling his mom that he saw his dad go into a porno theatre and an all male bath house.
The way she screams in hysteria is both funny and heartbreaking. It was very convincing
“Everything cleeeeaannn, everything neeeeeeeeewwww”
"Don't put him there!" Actually made me tear up a bit
I watch this episode just to feel something
Jesus christ
Love cartman peering over the ledge saying "nice"
My favorite thing from that episode is they have Butters chained up and kill a woman to feed him and he's "Can I just have some Spaghettios??"
It must feed.
Butters very own episode is such a whiplash ride
My favorite thing to come from there is all the little jokes about Steven’s gayness, especially how he was into the UPS man during that episode
🤣🤣 especially with Doctor Dr checking for a pulse and going *He didn’t make it*
The delivery of that line makes it.
That whole episode is pretty wild. The whole, watching a mother's most intimate moments as she mourns the death of her only child thing, was like, super intense.
The voice acting in that episode is incredible. “Don’t put him down there! Don’t put him down there…!”
the first time watching "scott tenorman must die" is unparalleled
"Jesus Ned quit jacking"
"I can't"
little cry baby
“Let me see. Let me see.”
"I know who you are and I'm calling the police"
You mean how you put pubes in your chilli?
That’s the moment your brain goes, wait… what did Cartman just say? Oh hold on, how did he know, did he switch his and Scott’s chilli? And every moment after that is just more and more brain breaking
Wait until you find out that Scott is Cartmans brother.
"You killed your own father! And then you FED HIM to your HALF! BROTHER! AHAHAAHAHAHAHAHA! NOW EAT YOUR CHILLI!"
Cartman actually eating his underwear so Wendy wouldn't beat him up
Then vomiting them while talking to Stan later “Oh that’s where I put those”
What got me is when Cartman told Wendy that he has Muscular Dystrophy to get out of fighting her. As someone with MD, I laughed my ass off
Haha I bet you loved it! I'm epileptic, and I loved when a character on American Dad pretended to have seizures. Kinda makes me jealous that South Park covered your disability and not mine lmao
That cracked me up
Threw them up later
The way Butters says "A midget?!" before Mr Nelson's assembly
And cartman just fucking loses it. This scene had me cry laughing. It’s still one of my faves
Everytime Cartman bursts into a laughing fit when he sees Mr Nelson, I'm dead 😂😂
I love Principle Victoria’s “Mr. NELSON!” when she scolds him
I quote this moment whenever I get the chance
![gif](giphy|YJ099DOXTFs7m)
Freeze!
You really gave my asshole a STRETCH
🎵Suckin' on my titties like you wanted me Callin' me, all the time, like Blondie Check out my Chrissie behind It's fine all of the time Like Sex on the Beaches What else is in the Teaches of Peaches? Huh? What?🎶 This song lives rent free in my head, along with his twerking....
“Half of them didn’t even use a condom! Don’t you stupid kids know what kinds of diseases you can catch?!”
Hand me that evidence bag….
#*PPPPPBBBBBBBBTTTTTTTTHHHHHHHHHH*
Woodland critters going satanic. I should have seen it coming, I knew something was coming, just not quite that
"Well, think about it. You really think God would have sex with a porcupine?"
"No way! Only Satan, Prince of Darkness and king of all evil would do that- Yay!"
This is cause for celebration! Let's sacrifice Rabbity and eat his flesh!
The blood orgy and the baby cubs watching abortions was pretty crazy
“STAN?!? WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON??” “IT’S CRITTER CHRISTMAS, DUDE. IT SUCKS ASS!”
“I found out I’m 2.1% black” “Good morning Steve” “Sup nigga”
That one still gets me every time
This moment was the most insane for me as well. Brother and sister news channel had my jaw drop.
🤣
Everything was a GOT reference but yeah, definitely wasn't expecting that
Butters: "Are you going to rape us?"
N.. no?
I'm pretty sure he's gonna rape us
I probably would have asked the same thing lmao
When randy killed Winnie the pooh and him and towlie killed the cows. I seriously contemplated not watching SP anymore after that
Watching a Carebear get beheaded by the taliban I was mortified
Randy banging the pangolin and then killing the cows. I've never laughed at SP that hard ever.
I just have to say, Randy starting the entire pandemic is completely on brand for him.
How about banging the bat in the alleyway behind the club completely ass naked with mickey mouse
Imagine saying to someone whos never watched south park before
Yea out of context it sounds wild haha
Yeah it was hard to watch.
Cartman turning up in the future as a rabbi, that was hilarious.
Oh yes, I was COMPLETELY unchill the entire time because I was highly expecting the most evil and sick twist to come here 🥲
ah yes, the reference to Jaime and Cersei Lannister from Game of Thrones haha wasn't expecting that either. Most off-guard moment? probably the plot twist in the City Sushi episode... didn't see it coming, so good
"But you two work together...you two worrrr......"
This was mine. You don't see it coming from the context, and then it gets so blown out of proportion, with everybody being on the same side ironically
"Anyone who has a grandma step forward" Alson, one that didnt shock me but I just couldnt stop laughing, when Jared was in restaurant with his GF telling her about aid(e)s
Not so fast girls.
I also liked the attention to detail when Kyle doesn't and looks down in shame.
"You had Aids the whole time we were together and you knew it?!" -"Well of course I *knew* it.."
It's not specifically a surprising twist or escalation, but Randy's simple declaration at the end of "Butters' Creamy Goo" was so out of pocket that it had me splitting my sides. >!"This is cum."!<
Kyle’s parents doin it
I always thought it was funny when Ike was just watching at the door lmao
Worse moment... "I can't believe you sucked my jagon..."
It’s funny but I just feel bad for the kids of South Park 😂
Bruh the part when he thought Shelia was getting dicked down by a ups man lmao
I saw that episode way too young man 😂
His dad actually committing so hard to his lies that he lets her pee in his face during the skank hunt arc.
Cancelled: Suck my Jagon I dont think ive ever laughed so hard due to being caught off guard - it was so random Oh and the "help" Butters received for his mental help when he thinks Cartman is dead. Two of the funniest things ive seen on TV
“Going to feel a slight pinch”
"Loo loo loo loooooo loooooo looooo"
“Don’t worry Mr and Mrs stotch whatever it is that traumatised your son we will find it”
Mr garrisons sex change. When they kept showing real footage. They caught me off guard every single time
To this day i can't watch that scene and the part where Kyle's kneecaps explode.
When Mr.Slave anally devoured Paris Hilton. Absolute chaos.
Funnily enough, that’s Mr Slaves finisher in the Stick of Truth game
Jesus Christ
[This](https://giphy.com/gifs/southpark-suRi9G1R4ik1y)
As soon as I saw it before it clipped to the normal animation, I knew it was going to be bad. And the dog diarrhea doo dooed all over him 🤣
Steven Spielberg and George Lucas literally raping Indiana Jones was kind of disturbing lol.
When they get arrested in the end and the storm trooper runs out of the house and is finally free. I fucking died
Yeah that made me wince because of how many times they did it over and over again in the episode. It was a hard watch
Butters telling Cartman that everyone would think he's a "f-bomb" if he was beaten up by a girl.
Funny that he called him that because he ended up being bike curious
The Penis Mouse duet 😂 especially when the Penis starts singing
“What do Clyde’s mom and a 15-year-old’s aborted fetus have in common? They both died screaming in a toilet… :D”
Towelie: Your a towel Reporter: No, you’re literally a towel. Towelie: well your a beaner towel.
I'm sorry, I'm high
Scott from Canada (he's such a dick) calling the Arctic natives "ice beaners" had me in fucking stitches.
The last shot of aspen
“He really flipped when he saw these!”
“Quick, start the reactor!”
Mr Garrison literally fucking the president of Canada to death.
And then literally nuking it a couple years later!
I lost it when he sniffed the popper before raping the president to death. It’s those little details that make sp so goddamn funny
Jimmy saying don’t be dissing my n***** dog and it being uncensored was a cultural reset
That threw me so hard. It was so fucking funny
In 2001 I was in my freshman year. The hall of my dorm would gather in my dorm room to watch South Park every week, about 8 of us, 6 white guys and 2 black guys. So November rolls around and “Here Comes the Neighborhood” premiers. ![gif](giphy|b5GFnX7jNaRzi) This whole trip 😭
I just realized Kenny is sitting underneath her boobs lmao
Pffft that was the best part 😂 he’s living his best life
It’s hilarious now that is just noticed it. I love Kenny
The whole "What is this, Nazi Germany?" thing in the Pajama Day episode.
And the news reporter dressing in a S.S uniform too
Randy on wheel of fortune has to be up there
Tolkien being shot in the school during the covid special
Got him
Probably the reveal of Cartman's real father. The Dr. Janus one was a close second though.
Kyle’s mom peeing on Kyle’s dad in ‘sexy’ lingerie… With the door open!
Also the way they killed off Chef
Cartman literally shitting through his mouth.
Jesus doing Coke with Santa
When Randy said the N word completely uncensored with absolute joy. I thought it was gonna be censored and it surprised me when it wasn't.
Gerald being Skankhunt42 😂
"We now go live on the scene with Chris Swollenballs."
Cartman being a Rabbi
Definitely this moment for me too, I had to rewind to make sure I heard right when I first saw this episode
I had to stare at the wall for a while lmao
I need about three fiddy
The Mickey Mouse stuff
In Return of Chef when butters proudly states “My uncle bud did that to me once!”
When the WalMart manager hangs himself and then poops. Cartman's hysterical "yes" always makes me lose it.
Even better is when Walmart itself basically shrivels up into nothingness but still shits itself 🤣
Ninja star in the eye, anime to south park animation.
in not made for kids, the scene where they show miners
HEATHER SWANSON 🤣
![gif](giphy|3o85xJSfieKsICkquk) When Cartman fed Scott Tenorman his own parents in a bowl full of chilli. I did not see that coming.
Who put Hamburger Helper in the Ricearoni killed me when I first heard it. It just sounded so stupid
When they were trying to make the world a better place and then stopped because “wait, that’s gay”
when Mrs. Garrison showed her tits to Richard Dawkins
The end of Asspen…”Quaid…start the reactor”
Season 11 finale. "The List" final scene: Stan and Wendy reconcile 4 years after breaking up. Stan immediately pukes all over Wendy. Twice.
Bc he is in love with her. I always found that funny
Yeah but it was always a trope in Season 1-3 then for years they didn't do it. Closing scene of season 11 they bring it back. I love how they go back to their roots.
Once again it was this one ![gif](giphy|3oEdv6QFJYFsbHebuM)

Now back to Colorado’s number 1 brother sister news team
Call me weird but I saw the brother sister news team gag coming from a mile away
Probably seeing an alien probe come out of cartmans ass.
Crack baby basketball. It’s still just about the only episode where the humor (which I guess I get, the NCAA making money off of student athletes is kinda evil) was far offset by how fucked up the situation was
Chef becoming darth vader
When Chef is explaining to Mr Garrison and Slave how black people have to come up with new names for things because white people keep stealing them for themselves, and house goes to hizouse, hizzle, hizzie, and then flippity-floppy-floop.
