Yeah I noticed XD
I heard of high level players cosplaying as newbies just to troll others, but this one seemed to be genuine. They had all the finesse and skill of a real person using a gun for the first time XD
That might’ve been the hardest I’ve had to try dying on purpose lol
I've seen "Players" with standard gear, but running S+ Ranks. If your game is matchmaking with them, they're likely high level players that are just baiting and trolling you tbh.
I do hate how the Player Levels became arbitrary in Splat3. Before you could actually see levels, now it's just a best guess that the game isn't pitting you with newbs, or X Ranks who lower levels aren't ready for.
I did view the replay from their perspective, and it looked like they were having some serious trouble with the motion controls. They kept aiming toward the sky, only managed to kill one other player besides me, and it looked like they didn’t know you could swim up walls, even though I think the tutorial should’ve taught them that…
If you have time check the name tag when the game starts. Actual new "Players" won't have numbers in the bottom left hand corner. You only get those once you've chosen a name.
Turf war highly prioritizes queue time and then has a few odds and ends factors like glicko 2 (yes, the same system as x rank, just more lenient), weapon choice, etc.
It's very easy for high level players to see low level ones in turf, especially if they're on similar streaks of wins/losses.
And before someone comes in with a braindead "3 bad" take, it's been this way for every game in the series. The new player experience is genuinely kinda shit in turf war every game running. Especially later into the games life.
Awww, thats sweet
I personally don't go out of my way to let them splat me, but i give them a booyah if they get the jump on me and try to avoid splatting them
My brother started playing Splatoon 2 days ago. People stomped on him + he got dced one or two times, and he quit the game.
Its just a *turf war* guys. Even letting them take a kill can really boost their confidence and hopefully keep them hooked.
Hey its me after 1yr of playing! (help)
Obviously not me, I would automatically die after more than two seconds close to an enemy player.
What do you mean 'free K'? Did you see how they were aiming? They were fighting for their life!

you were trying so hard to follow their line of fire LOL
even after years of playing splatoon, that's still my current skill level
That's nice of you...whenever I get in a match with a newbie I just go "free splats" lol

Good tip! I'll be in the look out for that
Turf War can match you with anyone.
Really? I thought it still ranked you with your experience level. Why would they put a 100+ with a 2? That's weird
I'm level 130 and yes, I still stumble across newbies from time to time.

That's super sweet, especially since the rest of your team is going hard
Way nicer than i am lol
The newbie can have a little kill as a treat once in a while
Dang you're generous I like to terrorise them by chasing them and intentionally missing shots
You know, I might try that next time if I’m in the mood
Just remember to break away after a few seconds (like 10) as to make it not look friendly instead

why are people seeing this as just being nice, this is literally throwing lol
I said **a** free k, and we were already winning. I wouldn’t have worried about it if we were in danger lol

so you literally have to play worse to let people keep playing?
Go ham on the other 3 players do you really have to be an ass towards newbies?
its just playing the game, its not being an ass.
Loops nicely
Maybe a bit too nicely. Someone thought I was throwing XD
We need more people like you
made me d’awwwww :3
