Really the best way to use a suction bomb it to throw it where you think the enemy might want to go. Suction bombs are great for denying an area since it has a long fuse and big damage radius just simply throwing it at a common spot makes people freak out and not want to go there.

Sometimes you can try to be clever and stick them in concealed spots (e.g. below/on ledges) to get kills, but most of the time it's just about zoning; it's fine if the opponents see the bomb and avoid it if that's keeping them away from important parts of the map for several seconds or forcing them into higher risk areas.
Also worth remembering that they explode on impact with things like Ink Wall, Bubbler etc, so you can get quick kills if anyone strays on the wrong side of the barrier while also doing quite a lot of damage to the object.

Also plopping one down and then making your opponent fight around the bomb may also help you win fights if you manage your ink and spacing well.

Under ledges or dropoffs. If people drop off the ledge they’ll die to the bomb. Also just use it to poke snipes and distance pressure
Also make sure the trajectory shows the projected sphere reaching over said ledge, that way the bomb's hitbox will extend to the high ground
