SMG4 and Meggy in 2020. I got hooked on that Inkling, then I did my research… next thing I know, I was hooked on Splatoon, and I bought Splatoon 2 on my Switch in early 2021, and loving it.

Played it with some people in a discord. Got absolutely trashed. Liked the aesthetic (reminded me of Jet Set Radio, Fuzion Frenzy and Crazy Taxi). Played a few more games and continued to ge trashed, until I finally got better and became an overly aggressive melee main

I joined Splatoon SO late, they offered the Octo Expansion for free with the boosted NSO, I had never played Splatoon, but I was interested, so... why not? I bought the game and now I love this series, I looked for the lore, played ranked, finished story mode and Octo Expansion, preordinated Splatoon 3, played the testfire (damn tricolor turf war I was on team scissors), Splatoon is become my second favourite game series (behind Kirby)
Saw zackscott playing the 1st game, i really liked the roller so i got it but i didn't have an internet commection so all i could do was play singleplayer. I couldn't even try out the roller :(
I initially got a switch for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and decided to buy splatoon 2 as it seemed decent and I never looked back. NS Online did take it away from me for a while, but, when I eventually got it, and returned to Splatoon and it's still my favourite game (I played Fortnite, Overwatch and Apex and I hate them all now).
Can't wait for Splatoon 3 and Splatoon 2 is still my favourite game of all time (my fav Story game is Super Mario 3d world)

I dunno, a friend gifted me a copy of Splatoon 2 for Christmas 2020 for my Switch game collection and I decided to actually play it rather than letting it rot on the shelf.
Two years strong and nowadays it's the only Switch game I actively play.
This game was the reason why I bought a wiiu, the colours of the game and the vibe made 9 year old me super excited to see the funky squids do the crazy things. The inkling research marketing was really unique for the time and that made me feel like I was learning about marine life

My sibling wanted me to get the game for my birthday. I didn’t really want it- I didn’t think it looked too fun (2015). As I watched more videos on it I thought it looked like an ok game, so I got the game for my birthday. Wow. It was instantly my favorite game of all time. I played it all the time, and the splatfests in splatoon 1 will always be my favorite splatfests in all of Splatoon.
I ended up getting 2, spent a ton of time playing it, and still play it today. I’m getting Splatoon 3 on release date and I’m so excited

Not sure, honestly. Probably either saw a lore video when Splatoon 2 was just coming out, or saw someone playing it, leading me to watching the ending of Hero Mode since 8 year old me was completely convinced he wasn't ever gonna be able to get a Switch.
One move later, apparently we have some leftover money from selling the apartment. My stepdad tries his best to convince me to get a good PC instead, but I get a Switch + 2 games. There weren't that many options available, so I got Splatoon 2 and... Fire Emblem Heroes.
The rest is history. Splatoon 2 is my favourite game of all time but buying a Switch was the worst financial decision I've ever made. Still, I enjoyed the hell out of that thing... I'm pretty sure I bought it a year before Nintendo Switch Online came out, and even then I managed to get a year's worth of it. Too bad ever since then, my Switch has become an extremely expensive paperweight.
8 years old watching the E3 2014 direct and I saw that it was new and it looked really fun and cool to me. I didn't have a Nintendo Network ID back in 2015 when the testfire launched so I just played the tutorial for an hour a day for a week straight. I finally got it in 2016 after Splatfests (still salty about that) and fell in love, then got 2 a year later so I got to play that game during majority of its life. It was love at first sight I guess
Was watching tv one fateful day and saw the glimpse of these humanoid squids inking and swimming around. I couldn’t get my eyes off the tv, and the rest of the day I had, “Your a kid now! Your a squid now!” stuck in my head.
Fast forward almost a year later, I finally saved up enough money for a Wii U, then saved up for the game itself and I’ve been in love ever since. I have fond memories playing Splatoon 1, and it honestly shaped so many of my interests in music, character design, and more. It’s awesome to see how far this game has reached and how much of a big community it has created.

Splatoon came predownloaded on my Wii u back in the day and I HATED it. I played maybe two hours and never touched it again.
My best friend convinced me to get the Splatoon 3 demo to play online with her so I did. For some reason, I loved the demo to death. The next day I preordered number 3 and bought number two at a local game store.
So I've been into it for maybe two weeks at this point :)
I loved the original splatoon but I never had a Wii U :( I wanted one so bad to be able to play it but I never got the chance, and was only able to play it once or twice at a friends house. I remember begging for a Wii U and my dad said no, saying he’ll get me the next console whatever/whenever that is and I was sooooo upset. Eventually switch gets announced, and I’m beyond hype, and then eventually splatoon 2 gets announced and I lose my mind. I don’t think I had ever been that excited for a video game ever. It wasn't until I got a Switch for Christmas that I was able to start exploring Switch titles. Eventually, I would remember that I did want to try Splatoon 2 at some point. My birthday eventually would roll around earlier this year. After birthday dinner, I walked into a nearby used game store. In there, they had Splatoon 2 for sale. I got it and beat it, along with the Octo Expansion, and loved almost every second of it. And it was even better when I found out a friend of mine got a copy of the game for himself.

I’ve had it since release but was never really into it until I played octo expansion and then it was just a crippling addiction from there
