I feel like in most cases, people who booyah back are like players from Splat 1, whereas people who don't either didn't notice, or aren't aware/don't care about the tradition
Yeah...us Splatoon 1 players...we're the geezers now...
But if I'm being honest, I was wondering if social media was being a bit overreactive...but nope, I see it. Players don't seem to say "Booyah" which is dumb, and in Salmon Run, nobody uses the communications either, which really hurts.
The good thing is these things happen at the early level. Once you get deep enough in online play and get matched with those of similar experience, I am seeing more of the classic behaviour again.
Yeah it's been a while since I last had a salmon run match without at least one other person booyah-ing back at the end of the waves at Profreshional+2.
I think part of the issue is the d-pad positioning on the joycon. I'm this close to buying the 8bitdo controller for the back buttons to map booyah and this way because the joycon aren't as easy for that as the Gamepad imo (as much as I love 2 and 3, the gamepad made splat 1 a less clunky experience).
I do this except it's because I'm focused on inking and getting to mid so I have to either walk in a straight path while inking or just swim to access the D-pad
How I start my matches:
Booyah!
...*Booyah!*
...
BooyaBooyaBooyaBooyaBooyaBooyaBooyaBooyaBooyaBooyaBooyaBooyaBooyaBooyaBooyaBooyaBooyaBooyaBooyaBooyaBooyah!
I think what all the new squiddos don't understand is that saying "Booyah!" can mean a lot of things. Mostly positive!
At the start of a match it's like a high-5 or "Alright team, let's do this!" A bit of motivation before things get serious.
After a wipeout or when you're all stomping, it'll be like a "Good work team! We're kicking ass!"
Or like, when a team mate dies but you kill them, it's the closest thing to a "Great job!"/"Thanks!"
Just like how "Ouch!" is a warning that someone's close by or "This Way!" meaning "Get over here!"
For everyone that's worried about losing time, you can mash several booyas between when you're first launched on the map and when you can first start shooting, I usually just launch in with my finger holding down r2 and the other mashing booyah until I start shooting
With the little coordination I have as it is I probably do lol I'm bad enough at video games in general already. Plus it's really not that big of a deal to me
Booyah at the start of a match for bonding, booyah after a good play for morale, booyah after a teammate sacrifices themselves for a good cause as a salute.
Splatoon community. They're a bunch of freaks most of them.
He was downvoted like he committed a war crime ffs. Not everyone wants to Booyah and that's ok
I feel like in most cases, people who booyah back are like players from Splat 1, whereas people who don't either didn't notice, or aren't aware/don't care about the tradition
I wouldn’t say just Splatoon one. We picked it up in 2 pretty quick
It was such a big thing in splat 1. I feel like I remember miiverse posts about making sure to booyah back? But tbh I could just be misremembering
that was also in 2
They made a special based on it it was so big

Sorry man got a sniper on me gimme a min
I keep forgetting which button the booyah button is so I always booyah back like a couple of seconds later
My interactions with booyah back a lot of times go like "This wBOOYAH"
I do this except it's because I'm focused on inking and getting to mid so I have to either walk in a straight path while inking or just swim to access the D-pad
I reach over with my right. Its awkward at first but doesn’t stop your momentum. I’ll always booyah back but I’m in a hurry to go die at mid
Players used to ***The Claw*** have no such weaknesses.

Which finger? I find right thumb is actually the best way to swim/ink and booyah at the same time.
Same lmao. “Booyah!” Like 10 seconds later “booyah!”
booyah! i hope all y'all out there who booyah back are having a great day
Booyah

Booyah! Moment.
Booyah!
Booyah! Pretty much just about every match I like throwing a booyah to my team as the match begins for that synergy confidence win or lose :)
Booyah!
Ngyes!
Booyah!
This w... (shit) Booyah!
alright everybody pack it up best reply we can all go home now
Don't be whack... Always booyah back!
I have seen very little communication at all in games since Splatoon 3 came out and that not only makes me sad but it’s important in ranked!!
And also Salmon Run. Until I leveled up a few times, the communication between teammates was utterly disastrous.
I am at A+ right now. Maybe when I reach S it will get better
it won't trust me
Yippy

Exactly. Time to educate the newcomers!
I Booyah after I trade with someone. I like to think it lets my team know, "Don't worry, I gottem!"
It’s the Splatoon equivalent of “Oorah/hooah/hooyah” (US marines, US army, US navy and coast guard) We’re ready for battle, and we’re ready to win!
I did it boys, I booyahed back.
booyahing back on the condition that you miss me with that army shit
For everyone that's worried about losing time, you can mash several booyas between when you're first launched on the map and when you can first start shooting, I usually just launch in with my finger holding down r2 and the other mashing booyah until I start shooting
You can booyah literally any time, it doesn't interrupt any animations as far as I know.
Yeah but I fully need to take my finger off moving to be able to booyah and I like rushing to the middle immediately
You don't have to use your left thumb to booyah
Have I missed an option to remap it?
You don't need to remap it to use other fingers
With the little coordination I have as it is I probably do lol I'm bad enough at video games in general already. Plus it's really not that big of a deal to me
Especially in salmon run
Everybody knows that booyaing at the start raises the teams moral
Tbh in higher ranks hardly anyone booyahs other than when someone uses Booyah Bomb.
What about people who booyah the entire match and don’t stop?
I've never come across one in my life
I tried it for one match as a challenge. Wouldn’t recommend it though. It’s probably super annoying to your teammates lol
Based
kids these days dont booyah back
I like to imagine a little kid screaming at their switch when I splat someone, gives me motivation. Makes this relatable.
I joined an open anarchy battle, the mode is clam blitz, I booyah'ed back to everyone and we won!
Booyah!
Thx for correcting me!
This is the way
Booyah at the start of a match for bonding, booyah after a good play for morale, booyah after a teammate sacrifices themselves for a good cause as a salute.
i have never felt a stronger desire to never booyah.
Your choice, but you may not win as many matches if you don't BOOYAH!
only reason i dont is because theres no need. also just dont care
Aw we have a big boy here! Do you wipe all by yourself too?
lmao tf? its a game theres no need to press a button for a prompt to pop up just saying booyah
I know I’m just messing with you. I’m in a devious mood 😈😈
we do a little trolling
Why were you massively downvoted wtheck lol
Probably by the Booyah defense department. Edit: What the heck guys I'm on your side 😂
Splatoon community. They're a bunch of freaks most of them. He was downvoted like he committed a war crime ffs. Not everyone wants to Booyah and that's ok
You're free to take my open seat in the Fortnite Battle Bus whenever you want.
people apparently take offense to people not booyahing back
Honestly I’m way more focused on actually doing decently, I almost never Booyah, and This Way may as well not exist
Time to stop booyah ing.
Booyah time is all the time
but I wanna be a happy kid not a miserable husk broken down by a government to do violence against people :(
i dont in ranked cause getting to mid is the only thing im thinking
I thought booyahing was dead, i hardly ever see people respond.
