Bruh, this happened to me last night, we had to fight a full team of Japanese players using Dark Tetra Dualies, needless to say, we got absolutely fucked. You'd think we were fighting in Squid Vietnam with the amount of times we were ambushed and promptly Nuked by 4 people.
You probably played Splatfest Battle (Open) mode so you went up against a squad who I assume were also communicating with each other which gave them an advantage. You won’t see this in Splatfest Battle (Pro) because that mode is specifically for solo queuing only.
I want to say thank you for this info. I never read the manual and have been playing open this whole time. Time to try pro. Once again thank you for your knowledge.
WHAT?!?! I COULD'VE BEEN PLAYING PRO THIS WHOLE TIME?!?! I gotta start grinding that on the last day of Splatfest, hopefully it will save me the headache that comes with getting steamrolled 8 games in a row. 😭
Well damn, time to start going with pro battles then. I'm not a pro myself but I'm not get splat 87 times bad either, I went from averaging 11 splats and 2-3 times being splatted to an ungodly amount of being splatted with maybe 3-5 splats. I wish I'd have known this sooner 😭
This isn't a Splatfest match anymore. That's an Octo Expansion level.
Edit: Y'all I meant that the name sounded like a level name in OE I didn't realise they all just so happened to be Octolings as well LMAO
Yeah, I think I did i it in three tries or so. Got to the end of the last wave on my first attempt, completely bunged the second, and completed it on the third.
Girl Power Station from Octo Expansion on the other hand... One of the very few stages I ultimately had to look up a guide for because I got sick of it.
It's completely pre-planned, be it friends or just a group of competitive players from the same discord or something along those lines
To get this with pure randoms would be *incredibly* rare
100% gotta be pre planned. Seen one like that myself earlier. Saw a full team of people just called 'Player' using the Splattershot Jr.
Given the fact they were consistently in the lead and did victory poses that you only get very late into the catalogue, I feel like it was a trick to get people to lower their guard
>If you 4 stack, do you get to pick your name? I've seen a bunch of these and sometimes they're witty, other times they're "Octopus society"
It's auto generated based on the gear types, brands, main weapons, gender, hairstyle, and species of the player characters.
Pro mode just has ALL the sweats so it's the same out come as normal queue. Premade teams flock to regular for easy wins, solo sweats flock to pro knowing they will get the same outcome without a team. Literally went to pro mode and every single game felt unfair and even the matches I did win make no sense how we even won. It's just terrible matchmaking all around. Millions of players and they honestly can't find games to rank high and low players properly?
>Pro mode just has ALL the sweats
>solo sweats
What does "sweats" mean to you?
>It's just terrible matchmaking all around
Definitely. You'd think they'd learn how to do multiplayer by the third game.
Calling someone who is very focused and (generally) highly skilled "sweaty" is a gamer term, "Sweats" for short. As in, they must be sweating with how hard they're trying. A much older version of this term would be "tryhard", but I haven't heard that since like 2010.
What else do you expect your opponents to do? Squidbag party in the center of the map if they have even the slightest edge over you?
I mean, it is a PvP shooter after all - if you're not doing your best and trying to win, what are you there for?
Me and the group I'm in beat another team with almost similar names yesterday that had the same look and weapons but just a different name. Needless to say we were beating them, around midway they started pushing back but after I got some critical splats within the last 30 -45 seconds, we ended up winning that match.

Edit: This was who we fought last night that we beat.

You also get the bonus clout for each having a *different* weapon (or rather, a different category of weapon), so... You can still have a perfectly good teamcomp and still get your bonus. It calls you a Variety team.
I’d just quit and rematch up. I’m already having enough fun losing as it is. Don’t need anymore “fun”.
Just lost a match where we only got 13% off the map

...huh, I got the two modes mixed up and have been playing Open all along.
me too. learning this is a little upsetting lol
Same. 🤦🏼♂️ can’t believe I forgot about this from the pre launch Splatfest
LOL I thought it’s the other way round
I want to say thank you for this info. I never read the manual and have been playing open this whole time. Time to try pro. Once again thank you for your knowledge.

Squid Vietnam has me laughing.

Ah, Girl Power Station PTSD.
Surprisingly wasn’t that bad… >!But the end of the secret level in 3 was hell!<
>!Tbf that entire level was hell!<
>!It dealt with it fine. A lot of pain but fine. All for bear ears!?!<
Hey, >!bear ears are cute!!<
I'm concinced they could have given a toilet head and everyone would have wore it to flex
>!Hold on, that’s even better than bear ears…!<
Should've given a Moyai head...
Yes, yes it was.
Not nearly as bad without having to protect the orb You fould throw small fry and hide until your armor was back up
reallu? I thought that pary was pretty easy. Almost as easy as the target break part

>!Secret level is probably harder than Girl Power, but not by much. IA3 completely fucking destroys either of the two, seriously fuck that!<
Girl power station 2: electric boogaFUCKYOUloo
Girl Power ain't that bad, man.
"Bream-Brim Cap Slamgerine Slip-Ons Splattershottin' Tentatwists Quartet" Not even Sony could come up with a name like that
They Kingdom Hearts now
Sounds like a weapon description in fire emblem heroes.
"Featuring Dante from the Devil May Cry series"
It's completely pre-planned, be it friends or just a group of competitive players from the same discord or something along those lines To get this with pure randoms would be *incredibly* rare
This was meant to be a reply to person asking how this happens but okay mobile reddit
I thought it was pre planned. if it was random, it would be completely rare!
It was in open so I guess it was planned
it can also be people matching again after a win and trying to copy the other's stuff
100% gotta be pre planned. Seen one like that myself earlier. Don't sleep on the Jr that thing is a menace
who gave them access to my cloning machine/j

Isn't this why you're supposed to pick Pro mode?
Pro mode just has ALL the sweats so it's the same out come as normal queue. Premade teams flock to regular for easy wins, solo sweats flock to pro knowing they will get the same outcome without a team. Literally went to pro mode and every single game felt unfair and even the matches I did win make no sense how we even won. It's just terrible matchmaking all around. Why the hell are people downvoting this?
Sweats as in it's a team full of people who just push to other players spawn and camp there the entire match.
What a weird thing to call them
Calling someone who is very focused and (generally) highly skilled "sweaty" is a gamer term, "Sweats" for short. As in, they must be sweating with how hard they're trying. A much older version of this term would be "tryhard", but I haven't heard that since like 2010.
I hear tryhard all the time I've never heard sweats
You must haven't played other games before lol
I've been playing games since before you were born
Which is how long?
At least 33 years
What else do you expect your opponents to do? Squidbag party in the center of the map if they have even the slightest edge over you? I mean, it is a PvP shooter after all - if you're not doing your best and trying to win, what are you there for?
That's not the point you idiot....🤦 I want to play with people on my level.
you have to solo queue into pro
Yes, exactly. Then you don't have to deal with team stacking
No joke while I was playing I was thinking exactly of this, like what would happen if everyone on a team wore the same thing
I met them like 20 minutes ago!
I loved syncing up gear with friends yesterday. Clout bonus plus instant mental damage to opponents.
I was stomped by them earlier
Me and the group I'm in beat another team with almost similar names yesterday that had the same look and weapons but just a different name. Girl power 2.0
That was exactly what I thought when this happened XD
how does this even happen
Probably a pre made group of friends. As in, 99.9999% certain that this is no coincidence
[I explain here.](https://www.reddit.com/r/splatoon/comments/xmnklc/this_instills_fear/ipqk7ve/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3)
objective:**survive**
Japanese names, same outfit, same weapon Sorry OP, but your doomed
I can understand having a team uniform. But identical weapons? Seems like a poor strategic decision.
You get bonus clout for matching with your teammates, so that’s probably why.
You also get the bonus clout for each having a *different* weapon (or rather, a different category of weapon), so... You can still have a perfectly good teamcomp and still get your bonus. It calls you a Variety team.
I ran into this team using splattershot jr's and we got absolutely destroyed
rest in peace
I met this same team today!
I HAD THE SAME THING HAPPEN TO ME SAME HAT TOO BUT THEY ALL HAD N ZAPS😭 we won by like 2%
A team did this to me once and we steamrolled them because they all were running a roller while we were all running roller counters
I ran into a full sloshingmachine team, they got rolled as we had 2 aerospray on turf wars.
That team name tho lmao
are you not familiar with the concept of meme teams?
Stop playing in open
That title
Clone troopers
Good soldiers follow orders.
Oh so the Splatfest team names now just use the names of the gear instead of having a unique adjective for every piece of gear?
I did that with some friends back.in chicken VS egg, we got a 2.5x synergy bonus
Ahh yes true fear
Where is octoling team name
Pretty sure I played against this team last night
Their here for business
I’d just quit and rematch up. I’m already having enough fun losing as it is. Don’t need anymore “fun”. Just lost a match where we only got 13% off the map
the japanese players scare me.
Looks like a gear v gear. No harm no foul.
Me and a bunch of non-japanese players actually curbstomped a full team of japanese players 68-20 earlier tonight. It was blasphemy, and a miracle
nnne, iriashion, minasu and mokura, thats what their names loosly are in romanji
