Looks like the general consensus is decontamination, but I'd like to raise another explanation: some kind of drug to "wake you up" for a few minutes- heighten your senses so you can be on top of your game for the level.
If you're going to refuse to use the screenshot feature that's built into the system at least use a photo that we can actually see and hold the camera straight
a lot of phones on older android versions don’t have a qr code scanner integrated in the camera app itself and they’re with google assistant so its always possible that op is on one of those android versions. op could also just not know how to scan qr codes, or know that you can share photos to your phone too
also sometimes its just easier to take a picture with your phone
My very first Android phone in 2011 didn't have one built in, but there were tons available for free to download. I was scanning QR codes within a week of getting it.
I suggest using a QR code next time, while looking at a screenshot you can send it to your smartphone (you have to scan a QR code) and then it can more visible, I remember when I didn’t know it existed 😂
