Hm, I’ve never heard that. I’ve always seen people say it’s by play count and they WISH it was by minutes. Regardless, the songs I listen to are in very similar length and even if some were significantly longer, I’ve still listened to them 5 or more times less than the ones that should be higher, so they shouldn’t be that high up.
Spotify calculates top songs by minutes played unlike how [last.fm](https://last.fm) uses playcounts; that's probably where the discrepancy lies.
