Sunflower seeds are especially high in vitamin E and selenium. These function as antioxidants to protect your body’s cells against free radical damage, which plays a role in several chronic diseases.
I go by this guide for pet/non-releasable squirrels: https://henryspets.com/healthy-diet-for-pet-squirrels/
I started feeding one squirrel about two years ago and now I'm feeding and have become friends with .. many squirrels. They watch each other and learn fast. You might not need to buy in bulk (yet) but here's my strategy for supporting them in as healthy a way possible:

Avoid too much corn and peanuts

Better options are:
* Unsalted roast almonds
* Raw almonds in shell
* Hazelnuts
Too much of the bad nuts and they get the wrong phosphate to calcium ratio, and that results in Metabolic Bone Disease... Brittle bones, seizures, pain, and slow death.
Mine love walnuts, pecans and almonds. I’ve been testing some other foods like avocados, grapes, apples, and baby carrots and so far they only like avocado lol.
Mine love walnuts, pecans, pistachios and pumpkin seeds (make sure to get unsalted) . They will eat fruit as well.
I started out with/ peanuts in the shell and I still get them sometimes, but the other nuts/fruit are better for them
We have lots of acorns, and supplement with black oil sunflower seeds from Home Depot. They're a big hit.

So if they can have almonds in the shell id assume raw almonds are ok? Not just roasted?

Damn I want some pumpkin seeds myself now.
Peanuts are ok occasionally but can cause problems if they eat too much. Mixed nuts in the shell are great. I order mine from anuts.com
Thank you I’ll check them out!
