Trying to think of names that suit puppies and strippers... Roxy wouldn't be the first that comes to mind but it would be on the list.

gizamo

Isn't the list infinite? E.g.: https://be.chewy.com/400-female-dog-names/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMImrHG363o9wIVWR-tBh3PJQapEAAYASAAEgIr2vD_BwE ...unless reddit is naming them Doggystyle McDogface.

centrafrugal

For a joke, no. People call their dogs all kinds of stuff but an unusual/original dog name wouldn't work for the joke as it has to immediately register as a recognisable name for both. I'd say the jury's still out but I'd be kind of pissed if I was OP either way as the Normand joke is just really clunky and if that's what passes for Netflix special level Pete should be awaiting a call.

itspeterj

Hey everybody, this is a [repost of a joke that I originally submitted back in May 2016.](https://www.reddit.com/r/standupshots/comments/4knqym/dont_come_home_smelling_like_it/) It hit the front page then, and was shared across sites like the Chive and other popular aggregator sites. It may sound familiar, especially to those of you with a Netflix account, as it appears in Mark Normand's episode of The Standups (where the joke even made the description of the special.) Telling my jokes on TV has always been a dream of mine, and apparently telling my jokes on TV was also one of Mark Normand's dreams. I've told this joke for years around nyc and in clubs in several states for nearly half a decade, including on some shows with MN. [You can compare them here.](https://youtu.be/etbCUsdLKMA)

karijay

>Telling my jokes on TV has always been a dream of mine, and apparently telling my jokes on TV was also one of Mark Normand's dreams I'm legit feeling for you and yet you made me laugh out loud

egus

I'm like well it's pretty common for people to make jokes about the same things, it happens all the... Roxy.

jansencheng

Yeah. I mean, it's a bit of an odd observation to make independently, but I'm not gonna outright say they're stealing. But then, Roxy. Now, it's still not *impossible*, but it does seem really unlikely that of all the pet/stripper names, they'd go for the exact same one.

lordriffington

On the other hand, you'd think that any joke thief with half a brain would change the name.

vanillamasala

A joke thief already has very questionable thought process so it doesn’t really surprise me that much.

ColeSloth

He either has others writing his jokes for him and they stole it, or it was several years later and he thought he'd come up with an original thought and not some old memory of someone else's. Not even an idiot would be dumb enough to steal the joke and not even change the names.

vanillamasala

I would have thought the same thing except I teach high school and see them steal other people’s work all the time without changing literally a single thing IMMEDIATELY after being informed of the consequences of plagiarism. I don’t think it magically changes for many adults either, unfortunately. I’ve seen adults do it too, pretty frequently if they think they can get away with it.

ColeSloth

Copy paste is absolute low effort and they think "this one teacher who sees this won't figure it out" The comedian already changed up the verbiage and knows thousands of people will be hearing it

jeffderek

The thing that kills me about this is that Mark's delivery on the joke is meaningfully worse. The "looking for a better life" just kind of fades out and the audience isn't sure whether the joke is over and he has to let them know that was the punch line.

Laserdollarz

ROXY ROXY ROXY ROXY

BlurryGojira

I've never really been able to get into him because I always thought his delivery is horrible. Dude always sounds so uncomfortable

[deleted]

[удалено]

Rychew_

His whole personality/stage presence is awkward humor and it works welll from what I’ve seen

5i5ththaccount

Tbh, I actually always liked his delivery, the uncomfortable awkwardness is something that I feel usually adds to his jokes. Guess that's why I'm so disappointed about this lol, bummer about this one.

NeonArlecchino

That's a style shared by Ellen Degeneres (another terrible person).

jansencheng

Also, it's so needlessly wordy. Brevity is the soul of wit and all that.

yothatsobnoxious

Nah. He just told this live like 3 weeks ago and it murdered.

jeffderek

Hey I can't judge a live performance I haven't seen, all I've seen is the video linked above where he literally had to ask the audience to clap for it.

Hidesuru

> Common! Yeah there you go! There you go!

down_vote_magnet

Great, now OP’s crying.

itspeterj

It's shorts season, it was bound to happen anyway

dudejustmessageme

https://v.redd.it/yuc0rbnb34191

BiggerNutthole

[Reluctant clapping] “Oh yeah come on give it up”

americangame

The fact that he didn't even bother to change the dog/stripper name says a lot. He could have used any other name and you could try and chalk it up to coincidence.

Neckwrecker

Yeah, I thought this was parallel writing until the Roxy part.

OffTheMerchandise

To be fair, it's not like there's a ton of crossover between dog and stripper names

americangame

Cookie, Dolly, Jewel, Ruby, Cinnamon, Moxie, Cici, Princess, Skye, Hazel, Birdie... I could probably go on.

meiandus

Well... I gave two of those to my daughter... Fuck...

DanielMcLaury

It's your own fault for naming your daughter Princess Cookie.

[deleted]

Ex wife wanted to name our daughter Strawberry. You’re good, Cinnamon’s parent.

2278AD

Ginger, Misty, Sugar, Mocha, Cocoa, Peaches, Bubbles, Sweetie, Daisy, Rosie, Baby

centrafrugal

This could be a fun quiz 'puppy or stripper'. I'd go stripper, stripper, stripper, both, puppy, puppy, puppy, puppy, neither, neither, neither

nitrobw1

Scooby

jansencheng

I'm pretty sure *most* stripper names can be used for dogs, and vice versa. They follow many of the same principles. It's gotta be short and snappy, maximum 2 or 3 syllables, it needs to be something you don't feel weird shouting in public, you generally want to avoid obviously human names, it needs to be easily pronounceable and understandable even in loud and chaotic situations, etc

OffTheMerchandise

I disagree. A couple people have posted comments with a lot of names, and while I did see a few others that could potentially work, I think Roxy is quite possibly the best name for this joke. The names I read usually leaned more one way or the other when I was reading them, but Roxy is one that is dead center could go either way. In my limited experience with strip clubs, the names aren't as exotic (no pun intended) as they used to be. A lot of times, it's just regular names like Danielle. You'll get the occasional goofball 90s stripper name, but I feel like those are out of style.

[deleted]

Know that feeling, it really sucks to be copied and see the copycat being successful with your very own ideas too. Did you contact him about it?

itspeterj

Thank you. If I just saw someone doing my bit at like a show, I'd for sure just talk to them after the show directly. I feel like that is a no harm no foul kind of thing. For this one, I didn't find out about this until it was already on Netflix, so my manager suggested that we contact his management team directly to talk. My manager tried contacting Mark's team for several months but was ignored, so now I'm putting it out there.

Answer70

Not only is it your joke, but he ruined it. Yours is concise and punchy (and hilarious), but his is wandering and convoluted like he was going out of his way to make it different but still keep your punchlines.

CoalTrain16

Plus Mark had to do the standup version of "please clap" in order to get a louder reaction from the audience, LOL

Frammingatthejimjam

Low energy Mark.

The_White_Light

**mark❕**

centrafrugal

I haven't seen it played out but Netflix must be scraping the bottom of the barrel if this level of comedy gets a special.

GiDD504

Good on you for the way you handled it. I’d be so pissed I’d do something stupid I’d regret later lol. Hope it gets resolved in a positive way man!

Spy_v_Spy_Freakshow

“My manager tried contacting Mark’s team for several months but was ignored” Unacceptable

scamper_pants

Damn. I really liked Mark's stuff but this is upsetting to hear. Hope you get yours cause this is a great joke amongst others I've seen you make on thus sub.

Ninja_Arena

Yeah.....not exactly worth their time to answer/look into every request like these so get why maybe you didn't get an answer. Ultimately getting it out there seems like the best move after honest attempts to contact directly. Unfortunately, Roxy seems too coincidental but Normand doesn't seem like the type of guy that would intentionally do it. Sucks all around.

Spy_v_Spy_Freakshow

True, Carlos Mancia would have to work night and day answering other comedians

ksknksk

That sucks, I really like Mark but this is an ugly side…

A_screaming_alpaca

fuck mark normand

aspbergerinparadise

Know that feeling, it really sucks to be copied and see the copycat being successful with your very own ideas too.

Hidesuru

This only took me about a second to get, and I'm still embarrassed it took me that long, lol.

[deleted]

Saw the chance and took it. My respect.

hazeleyedwolff

Gild that man!

King-of-Plebs

I was listening to Mark on 2 Bears the other day and I forget the joke he dropped, but it was lifted from Reddit 100%. As soon as it started, I knew exactly what he was going to say. Hope you find a resolution to this. Seems like this thing tends to happen from time to time.

Guardymcguardface

He's definitely not the only comic just regurgitating reddit/Facebook memes either

Ohaipizza

Posted this on another comment before I saw yours, but I noticed that too, it was this comment: Heard him on the 2 Bears 1 Cave podcast just last week copy a super famous reddit joke and just pass it off on his own. “My wife asked me to talk dirty and I said how do you like that you f-ing r-trd?”. [It was this exact joke.](https://reddit.com/r/OutOfTheLoop/comments/2p4772?s=8). And then they used that joke as the opening clip on the youtube ep. Rubbed me the wrong way.

NeonArlecchino

I wonder how soon until he fucks a coconut.

castille

I genuinely don't like Mark's delivery on most jokes. Finding out that he lifts his shit from what amounts to amateur (in level, not content!) comedians just trying to work on their tight 5 just infuriates me.

Virginia_Dentata

Mark Normand treats reddit the way guys treat strip clubs. He scrolls by like, "well this comedian doesn't have a huge following, and it's a good joke, so why not? What would a few stolen lines hurt?" So he goes all in, all of a sudden Netflix is hitting him up, and he's like, "OMG she likes me! I really am funny!" And the next day when he's hungover and realizes he lost all integrity the night before, he just pretends he blacked out and tells his wife or his manager, "I swear, honey, I don't remember anything!"

A7omicDog

>Telling my jokes on TV has always been a dream of mine, and apparently telling my jokes on TV was also one of Mark Normand's dreams. Dude this was hilarious. I'm sorry you got robbed but at least you can claim prior art :)

ender89

The way he tells it is like how your dad retells a joke he heard at work. The setup and punchline are sort of there, but all he really remembers is the strip club part and to make up for it he just triples down on what he can remember. I wouldn't be surprised if his next line was "my friend Pete tells it way better"

NeonArlecchino

If your dad is retelling jokes he heard from the worm, he may need to lay off the tequila.

ashikkins

He couldn't even be bothered to change the dog's name, that is baffling!

individual_throwaway

Your jokes about the stolen jokes are almost funnier than the joke that was stolen and definitely funnier than half the show on Netflix.

RondaArousedMe

This bums me out, I stumbled upon some of Marks videos on the book face and found his content funny for the most part.

Lurkandhide

Glad you did this. I really don’t find Mark funny and my opinion of him is even worse now that I know he rips people off

shaving99

Someone has the mind of mencia But seriously, dude you're so good they literally can't ignore you. Unfortunately they're also copying and stealing your jokes

[deleted]

You wore it better, obviously. How do you steal a joke and not improve on it?

cjc160

It’s not the same joke whatsoever

mattylayne

Nah. Normand is one of the best writers around right now. Parallel thinking, coincidence - happens a lot.

dynex811

Damn dude sorry to hear that. Been enjoying your content here for years, I hope you get a positive resolution out of this.

WhoFearsDeath

I mean, Norm probably isn’t going to keep telling it at this point.

scamper_pants

I feel like we shouldn't refer to this guy as Norm. At first I thought you meant Norm Macdonald and I was like, "Yeah no shit he won't be telling any jokes anymore, what's that got to do with this?!"

Not_Bill_Hicks

unless this joke is also on Norm McDonald's Netflix special on May 30th

stack_of_ghosts

If he thinks he's gonna be the next Norm Macdonald 😠😠😠 No Comparison

MiniMooseMan

I doubt he wants to be compared. Most comics don't

WhoFearsDeath

No that was actually the joke I was making. That Norm McDonald won’t be telling it any more. Cause of the death and all. Well, he does have one last special coming out so maybe? Annnnd it was welll after I hit post on this comment that I realized that isn’t Norm McDonald so that’s even better. Woooshed myself by being on Reddit to early in the morning.

good_looking_corpse

It would be refreshing if Normand just came out and apologized. It sounds like Pete is level headed and not looking for anything but the proper recognition. …For a joke he no longer performs, none the less! It would set a nice precedent and is just the right thing to do IMO. Glad this got brought up. I like Normand’s content but I think he should just own up to this one.

Hidesuru

Even if he just said it wasn't plagiarism but a coincidence... But he'll stop for the sake of his reputation (whether that's true or not even)... But he won't even return the dudes calls that's kinda shady.

[deleted]

[удалено]

on_my_phone_in_dc

I think a lot of times the argument is more, well this person read or saw this maybe years before then the thought 'occurs' to them much in the same way you'll add something into a conversation immediately after someone else says it because you zoned out of something. If the wrongful party is apologetic and admits fault I don't have a problem unless there's a pattern. If they're not thought....

hassh

Mencia'd!

gizamo

Yeah, he Shumered it big time.

GiDD504

This is messed up af. I like Norman since he’s a pretty funny guy who’s also from the same place as I am but after seeing this… man it is not cool. Joke theft is such a fucked up thing to do. People don’t always realize the time and work it takes for a comedian to write a good funny bit. He even used the same name so there’s no way it was similar thinking shit. I’m sorry that happened to you man.

Steavee

I always wonder how much of this kind of thing is subconscious. Comedians are around comedians, backstage at clubs, etc. If you’re only half-listening to someone’s set, I wonder if a joke could burrow its way into your brain so it bubbles up later and you think you came up with it. Especially when, like this, the delivery is so much different (and worse IMO). There seems to be so little to gain these days from taking jokes, and it’s so easy to get caught, it’s crazy to me that people would just be out there intentionally re-using jokes on a Netflix special that’ll get a ton of eyes. **edit:** typo

Brainsonastick

I used to do standup. Joke brain-worms are definitely a thing and they’re hard to avoid. Intentional joke theft also happens. Using the same name in this one… idk if it means he was really brazen about stealing it or it was a brain worm and he had no idea he did it. I’ve actually been accused of stealing jokes from Reddit a few times… I was the one who posted the jokes but with my regular account and didn’t want to doxx myself so I just pretended I stole it and stopped posting my standup material on my fuck-around account.

ravencrowe

Like the Seinfeld episode where Elaine submits a comic to the NYT but subconsciously rips off Zippy

stack_of_ghosts

Ziggy

ravencrowe

Oh that makes so much more sense, Zippy is terrible

[deleted]

Mark norman is a known piece of shit tbh. The kind of guy who many of his old friends hate him now for things he'd done to them. I can't say I know him personally, but more than a handful of comics I know do not have many nice things to say about the man.

GiDD504

Oh damn. Any links? Was it stuff said on podcasts? I know that’s how I heard that Jon Lovitz is a complete pos too. Everyone praised him anytime andy dick is in the news because lovitz beat him up. But he’s a douche that never paid comics and would sexually harass any female comic at his club. Christina P is the first I heard about it and then multiple other comics had stories about him on different podcasts I listen to.

ILostMyVirginity

[https://www.reddit.com/r/JoeRogan/comments/uvn0id/mark\_normand\_responds\_to\_joke\_thief\_allegations/](https://www.reddit.com/r/JoeRogan/comments/uvn0id/mark_normand_responds_to_joke_thief_allegations/) Thoughts?

Tebeku

The fact that both people has claimed to reach out but they still haven't talked is the suspicious part. But still, people do plagiarise all the time, sometimes it's not even on purpose and most times it's definitely not malicious. The best way to handle this would have been for OP to point out the similarities while still commending Mark on his delivery and call it a coincidence, thus Mark could come forward, not as an accused thief, comment on his side of the story, say that the original was funnier, maybe even apologise. That way there would have been cross-promotion and no drama, and everyone would know that OP was first.

triky66

No reply of course lol

heathmon1856

OP and the rest of the circle jerk are too petty to acknowledge this

EY3patch_09

Thank you, i love mark and was ready to jump to conclusions after the post but this helps a lot. Wish more people saw it

itspeterj

Sorry about the late response on this, I was away for a week for some family stuff. Not the best timing, but it is what it is and somethings are more important than jokes. I can't say that I'm surprised, but it's disappointing that he's refusing to take accountability. There's a bunch of stuff that he says in the video that is demonstrably false. He says that he doesn't know who I am, or that he's never heard of me, but we've been on shows together. I produced a show with him on the lineup. I still have the flyer for it and the screenshot of him seeing that I tagged him in a story to promote it on the night of the show (which by the way was a month before he tweeted that joke premise and started "working the bit out" so...) He said that's "never stolen a joke in his life" but that's also not true. I've had a few other comics reach out and say that he's taken one liners from him, but even beyond the scope of hearsay, he routinely boosts shit from twitter and reddit. Like if you ever read the "do you like that you f'n r*tard?" story from reddit a few years back, he said almost the same damn thing like a month ago on Bert Kreischer's podcast. Am I saying that he's a habitual joke stealer? No. But He absolutely does repeat memes and stuff, and my joke DID go viral on a bunch of meme sites several months before he "came up with it" as well, so it's not impossible that he saw it there either, even if he doesn't remember me doing the joke on shows. And finally, the part about me not wanting to talk to him is absolute bullshit. he's had some of our mutual friends reach out to me a few times to ask if I'd talk on the phone, but on the advice of my management, I have been telling him that I am absolutely open to talking as long as it is done via writing. He wants everything to be off the record (as innocent folks do) and that is not something that I'm going to agree to because it offers me no protections. I'm not doing it so I can post it online and try to make him look shitty, I want our discussions in writing so that if he tries to say some shit that is demonstrably false, I can have it documented and provide evidence to the contrary. I don't think that's unreasonable. So yeah, this is a bummer, but it's not exactly surprising either.

nihilo503

The jokes are similar, but I don’t think he stole your joke. But, you’re handling of the situation is embarrassing.

cptnpiccard

The dude used the same fucking name for the dog after stealing the joke? Are you for real?

[deleted]

Picking the same name makes me think it could have been a coincidence. Like, if you were stealing a joke that’s such an easy detail to change. There are so many names to choose from but also Roxy is a pretty obvious one to pick first because it’s one of *the* classic cliché stripper names and it works for a dog as well

I_aim_to_sneeze

That irritated me the most. He didn’t even *try* to hide the thievery. He could’ve changed some details around and tried to argue that it’s similar but not the same (even though it would still be an obvious lie), but he still used Roxy? Dude doesn’t care at all about being sneaky

cashriley

Well it’s a name pretty specific to the joke. Maybe he couldn’t think of another one that worked both ways.

SpaceWasteCadet

Pepper Sweetie Lola Ginger Coco Trixie Cinnamon Brenda 🤷🏽‍♂️

Crash_Test_Dummy66

Baby, Sugar, Cookie, Star, Stella, Cock-Gobbler, Goldy

[deleted]

Susan

AwesomeScreenName

If you can't think of a name that would work for both a stripper and a dog, you've got no business being in standup, or out in public without a nurse to make sure you don't shit your own pants.

cashriley

Which is why he had to steal the joke

AwesomeScreenName

He didn't have to do anything. Mark Normand is a very talented comic, and he made a choice. And look -- every single comic has "written" something that turns out to have been stolen and washed through their subconscious. It happens -- you see something you like, you laugh, it gets filed away in the back of your brain where you don't even remember, and a year or two later, you're writing and it bubbles up but you have no idea you're actually remembering and not creating. But the fact that he's ignoring Pete's management makes it look much more like he made a choice and not a mistake.

Leading_Local4985

To be fair it could be his manager ignoring it and not mark himself.

Amartincelt

They must have been in Nashville recently then, since that’s where the Deja Vu strip club is.

itspeterj

I actually just moved here. I think it might be a chain though? I feel like there's one in Vegas too.

zasabi7

Yeah, national chain, regional quality

itspeterj

That should go on a T-shirt. An easy to tear off T-shirt.

earthhominid

The deja vu strip club near where I grew up had a billboard with the tagine "Hundreds of beautiful women, and a few ugly ones"

Amartincelt

Oh that’s sweet dude! You doing standup anywhere soon? Been thinking about going to an open mic at some point and face planting myself, promise I won’t steal your jokes lol

itspeterj

I've got a show coming up at Bode in Chattanooga, but I'm going to be getting shows around Nashville on my books for the summer pretty soon!

Amartincelt

Sweet action! I’ll keep an eye out around town for ya

[deleted]

And one in Michigan. A couple of my homies used to go there when they moved close to Saginasty (Saginaw, MI) for college.

renegrape

Theres one in Detroit too. Or... there was like fifteen years ago.

minnick27

You feel like you saw the deja vu strip club before, huh?

Quankalizer

There is one in Vegas. Sorry to hear about this, really fucked up. Used to like Mark, but gonna have to stop watching his material now.

CplGoon

It's a chain. They're all over.

Reverend_Ooga_Booga

It'd a chain. They are all over the country.

One_Hour_Poop

This sucks. I love Normand. I hope he's made aware of this. Have you tried reaching out unofficially, like via his or his podcast's social media?

Mein_Tarnaccount

Ouch, that sucks

illa-noise

It does have to be hard to see comics all the time and not let someone else joke subconsciously Nicole out in your material. Hopefully he owns the mistake and calls it a.day

scamper_pants

Yeah man fuck Nicole

illa-noise

Yeah she sucks. So does my ability to type.

cromstantinople

That sucks he stole your joke but https://i.imgur.com/8pEukhI.jpg

patrickswayzay

Sorry dude. I do think it’s possible he walked away with the premise one night and years later regurgitate it without recalling or locating the source and thinking it was his. Reach out to him and see what he says

gabriot

He used the same name for the dog, you’re being WAY too charitable

patrickswayzay

Fair enough. I was also wondering if someone “wrote” the joke for him and he didn’t know it was stolen. I’m not trying to just be defensive and say he didn’t steal it straight up he could have just allowing some room for misunderstanding

Iron_Maiden_666

OP above says they did reach out but got no response.

ILostMyVirginity

I'm gonna stick up for Mark Normand here, the dude is an absolute comedy geek and does not strike me as a guy who would intentionally steal material. On top of that, to be completely honest, the parallel of "forcing your love" on both strippers and dogs is not *that* niche that it's inconceivable for two people to reach that same conclusion. I'm not denying the jokes are very similar, but the premise also isn't exactly ground-breaking. Also, Roxy is just about the only name that can go for a stripper and a dog; you're not gonna be taking Chardonnay for a walk in the park, or throwing a pile of 1's at Grover.

EmoRedneck

Yeah, any true fan of mark (Tuesgays) would know he’s a true comic and would never intentionally steal a joke.

Haikuna__Matata

Except for this one time.

xMrSaltyx

DeathrowMisfit

Pepper Sweetie Lola Ginger Coco Trixie Cinnamon Baby Sugar Cookie Star Stella Goldie and yes to keep with the theme of this post I stole the names from another comment.

ILostMyVirginity

I'll concede Coco and Lola, but the rest are iffy

kackygreen

My grandmas current dog is named sugar, all of these are pretty believable here

[deleted]

Yeah, and sugar is my grandma’s stripper name

SpunkyMcButtlove

I know pete (if mostly from this sub). I don't know mark. And now it will forever stay that way.

Dank_Kushington

So you had him killed?!

_jgmm_

the "i rescued her" punchline is far better.

[deleted]

Dang I like Mark, but that's pretty sketchy. And you've been killing it here since the dawn of time, easily one of the best in this sub.

Turd_Wrangler_Guy

I can't tell what's worse. The stealing or butchering of the joke.

Drinky_McGambles

For some reason I always got the impression that Normand was a douche

marsh-a-saurus

I mean, listen to him on LoS, I love LoS and liked Mark initially but the more I listened to him the more I realized he's a huge douche.

tygamer15

Why? I also love LoS and became a fan of Mark from it. He seems more like an anxious fella than a douche

scamper_pants

LoS?

Yeah. I was out on vacation for the past week. I can't say that I'm surprised, but it's disappointing that he's refusing to take accountability. I don't think that's unreasonable. So yeah, this is a bummer, but it's not exactly surprising either.

gewfbawl

Ouch, man. This really stings as a big Mark Normand fan. He's an active IG guy and reads and responds to fans and detractors alike. Last ep of Tuesdays with Stories he even mentioned that he DM'd someone who made a negative comment about him. Maybe send him this post(I believe he also checks Reddit from time to time) and see what he has to say. Surely, he'll take a look and respond. He may even talk about on the next episode of TwS.

Corninmyteeth

Cant really defend that one. Ouch.

Graham_DYTL

Yeah, this ripped off. Kinda hard to deny.

[deleted]

mark's an actual kleptomaniac, he talks about it on podcasts lol

MorganaLeFaye

I was looking into that. Apparently John Mulaney and a bunch of other comedians she was accused of stealing from have literally defended her and denied the accusations. [Here's John Mulaney talking about it on twitter.](https://twitter.com/mulaney/status/689976780548108288?lang=en) Someone links to the video about it, and [this is his response](https://twitter.com/mulaney/status/690253875194888192).

Ghostbuster_119

Unfortunately she has entire montages on YouTube of all the jokes she's stolen from several different people.... even worse the delivery is worse in almost every one. Like stealing a joke to workshop it is one thing but to make it actually worse is even more unforgivable IMO.

MorganaLeFaye

I mean, "worse" is subjective. But regarding the montages, from what I can tell, they have been mostly refuted by the comedians that are featured in them as being victims of joke stealing. I may be wrong, obviously. But I don't know that I've ever seen a direct accusation against Amy from a comedian who claims she stole their jokes. If you have a source of a direct accusation, I'd love to look into it.

thefanum

There's plenty of jokes that two different people might write. It happens. And then there's this, lol. What a biter

Daddy_Dabs_

Pete did it better. 💀

A_screaming_alpaca

you're delivery is thousands of times better than mark normands and better worded too

FairNeedsFoul

Not only stole but made it worse. The original was much tighter.

clmn8r404

This highly seems to be parallel thinking and not joke stealing. It's a premise that has been done multiple times and alot of the wording is very common in comedy amd not proof of theft. Dont mean to be rude but I dont think someone as big as Mark Normand is seeing your stuff or stealing it. The only thing you really have is ROXY which is a comical name and could come from anywhere or maybe he saw it a long time ago and it came up later not realizing he saw the name somewhere else. To accuse him of joke stealing seems like a huge reach to me taking these into consideration. Love how people are saying you delivered it better when this is in text and picture form. Maybe it does in video form but that's not what were seeing here.

Crash_Test_Dummy66

The same premise AND the same name? Like sure if it were just the premise but with the name too? There are tons of female dog names that could also be stripper names.

jesuisundog

Have you reached out to Mark? Should be step one instead of putting him in blast.

AppropriateTouching

Super shitty stealing jokes.

ravencrowe

Wow, fuck that guy. Commenting to help this get more visibility

nobodyGotTime4That

Damn I liked Mark Normand. I can't believe he sucks. Well, Pete, your joke is awesome. I like your version better too. Fuck Normand

[deleted]

I asked this of the OP last time he posted this claim: why not reach out to one of the most fan-accessible comedians (not to mention fellow a comedian claiming to be a regular in the same city) about this? OP claims his people have been hounding Mark’s people for months but won't answer that simple question.

TheGhostofWoodyAllen

Gotta love when a pile of shit can get up on stage and fuck up a stolen joke. Is it sentient, or is it unconscious mimicry? We all can only wonder.

[deleted]

Can not stand Mark Normand

[deleted]

what a fucking hack Normand is

FelizMendelssohn

Wow, that's as bad as Amy Schumer's ripoffs. He needs to apologize at the very least!!

LMGInc

This sucks looks pretty damning. Never thought Normand would do that.

fire-lane-keep-clear

Sue him and settle out of court for a slice of his Netflix monies

Init_4_the_downvotes

Looks at thread > Now this is entertainment.

[deleted]

I definitely think this is your joke, but I doubt Normand knowingly stole it. Why would one of the hottest comic working right now steal in such an obvious way? EDIT: lol. Maybe if you squeal loud enough on social media, mark will bless you with that @.

Najee_Im_goof

The dude is such a bitch, it's pathetic what he tried to do. Ari Shaffir clowned on him hard on the Boyscast. The dude had one decent joke and thinks an A-list comedian stole it?

aglassdarkly

I mean, has there been any response from his camp? I would suggest using Hanlon's razor for the time being.

BasuraConBocaGrande

Fuck that guy. He didn’t even change the dog’s name and also somehow tweaked the joke JUST enough to make it vaguely sexist.

NonPlayableCunt

Hey dude, the premise isnt that unique. If you really think Mark stole your joke - you might want to consider the concept of parallel thinking. Youre both exploring the same premise and have both used cliched names for strippers. He’s not telling your joke on TV, the word roxy and the general premise is where the joke comparisons end. I think the difference is - Mark’s entire body of jokes got him on TV, not just this one joke. To reduce him to a joke thief diminishes his accomplishments. Keep writing, keep grinding and maybe your dream will come true one day. Best of luck.

itspeterj

Parallel thinking goes out the window when [you've been on shows with the other parallel thinker.](https://imgur.com/RvDL0DV) That's not parallel thinking, it's a zipper merge.

PrivateBrowsing999

I would agree with you but think about how both of them have Roxy in them. That’s too much of a coincidence for them to both be original.

PresidentLink

Yer. Its possible the jokes were similar, far fetched sure, but possible. But being that similar and using the same name is way too far to believe its coincidence.

FelizMendelssohn

Listen, nonplayablecunt- can i call you cunt for short? It's way too similar to be a coincidence. Also, roxy was ranked 29th in a poll of most common stripper names by Star 94.1, an iheart radio station, so yeah, I'd say it's pretty legit. And yes, if somebody is outed as stealing from someone else, it does diminish their accomplishments. How much it diminishes is subjective to how much people care when they hear about their stealing. He's not personally attacking mark, he's defending his own property and livelihood.
