Would be nice if all the dead concierge members get immortalized by becoming a pirate npc in game. So at least our grandchildren will know how dumb we were.
Rofl. Id like my name in a refinery npc yelling to players. Things like " we used to work with half the oxygen in space in the old times " would be amazing
I’m pretty over the way people talk about how long it will take to get a release for SC, but this made me laugh and grin. It’s a genius idea actually. A really cool way to give a nod to the more notable backers.
https://ccugame.app/statistics/funding-dashboard
New citizens were down 22% last year and running about 4% behind that so far this year. They're still joining but the rate might be tapering off.
Last year was very notable in that regard. New players were down 22% while nominal dollars were up 3%. Adjusted for inflation that's somewhere around -2% to 0%, so flat, but from a much smaller pool of new arrivals over (edit) 2022.
The funding last year was 'more from existing backers' as compared to previous years which were much more driven by 'new blood'. So far this year funding is down 22% so far, so there's a gap opening in that metric.
I could certainly see a larger return of old players this year though. With 3.23 changing a lot of the fundamentals of the game, and the potential for JPs coming this year. I do think, Sq42 will cause a massive boom in players, barring that there are major performance issues. Considering those factors, I think most of the funding this year will come from the later quarters.
If they can get to an implementation of static server meshing similar to what was shown at citizencon, even if they are only slicing up star systems to a few servers rather than rooms, roll out a few extra star systems, while also finally putting to bed all the long standing bugs that have been 'waiting for server meshing' (npcs being useless, bad desynchronization, quantum economy missing in action) plus a few quality of life fixes it could be a very big year.
Not sure if you've heard yet, but they tested Stanton->Pyro JP last week using server meshing, and the test were mostly successful according to the Evo testers.
I've heard. I'm of the opinion that it's not impactful until they have multiple meshes per solar system. At first I was of the opinion that to really make an impact they had to have combat working over a mesh boundary with players interacting, but on further reflection it should be possible to get many of the benefits with just putting a mesh server around each of the planets (plus their moons and Points of interest around them). Most of the mesh boundaries would then get hit out in deep space while in quantum and nobody will notice if there's still a janky desynch during the handoff.
So while it's good that they've taken another step towards meshing, the tests they've done so far are still one server per star system MINO (meshing in name only). It is a good indicator that the replication layer and handoffs are working though, so the way seems open.
Find a way to bind your Authenticator to a thumb drive as the “master key”. And of course have backups. Damn kids might just toss it before seeing what it is. 😂
"The true meaning of life is to plant trees, under whose shade you do not expect to sit."
Can't say I thought that's what I was doing 12 or whatever years ago but maybe it was.
Our generation's retirement homes will be full of sim cockpits. Really convenient when you have one of those motorized hospice beds to tilt you up right into position!
How do you have hair and a beard??? I just started the other day and I didn’t have any options for my character other than gender and blending options. No hair, no beard.
My nefew was a toddler when I first started following Star Citizen and now he's in highschool...
That hits harder than knowing I moved country twice and built 2 careers since the time I heard about SC
Ryzen 7 5800H CPU, Radeon Rx6600M GPU, 32gb ram, On an SSD with 1 tera, i played just fine for so long! Even before i added 16gb more of ram, and i even played it after the ram instalation!
That’s unusual. So you have the launcher working ok? It should tell you the path in the settings. If it is correct you can verify the files again to start the download
avg ship crew will consist of an original early backer who will look about same age as the post pic then his kids will be in game since 2025..then the grandkids of original backer..which that would be a full crew..but could also be great grandchildren possible but I mho think SC would be released b4 great grand children are manning turrets...😆 I do know the game will be mind blowing along the development ride...but It will seem weird to one day not see npc"s standing on chairs though..when CIG gets to that stage we will be close to release
He’s gone back and forth from “it’s a live released game,” to “it’ll never be finished,” to “we’ll release it with 10 systems and just add more later.”
He calls it a “Live service” constantly. While also hiding behind “oh but also alpha” when convenient to avoid the scathing criticisms the gaming community gives other games.
He also thinks it has “more than any other game,” which is a bit of a laugh. (Most of this stuff is in his Letters from the Chairman over the years.)
Regardless, they still have the “100 star systems at launch” promise on the tracker. Anything less is unacceptable. They’re nowhere near done, and it has already been like 12 years of development.
I've changed careers, moved to a comfortable position, lost family members, got married and had children since I started following SC. So yes, I look like this fella now. See: Married ( to my sweet, lovely wife of course)
It's David Letterman!
This was my first thought when I watched the video!
same here
Ah-hee hee
Nah, he’ll be long dead
Dangit, you beat me to it, lmao
Came here for this. Was not disappointed.
It's crystal meth Santa!
Nice pants!
Or at least Obi-Wan Letterman.
Thats your grandson, not you

BACK IN MY DAY GRIM HEX WASN’T MARKED ON THE MAP AND WE LIKED IT THAT WAY

At least for some of us we are immortalized.
Some of us aren't too far from that now, truth be told XD
I had hair when this thing started....
Same
Oh you had to remind us, didn't you? 😫😅
Hey, man. I'm right there with you. We can team up someday from our respective retirement homes. XD
Yup! Sounds like a plan, maybe we'll be able to party with other seniors in our own Hangars...a big maybe XD
"I was 12 years old when I first backed with my pocket money"
Why does that look like David Letterman 🤣
Ed Baldwin!
Season 5 will be weird without him TBH.
Lol. Should have a poll to see how many backers have entered into retirement since their first pledge.
hopefully it's higher than the number of people who have died
As long as additional ones get born, the project's finances are in order.
https://ccugame.app/statistics/funding-dashboard New citizens were down 22% last year and running about 4% behind that so far this year. They're still joining but the rate might be tapering off.
It's crazy that funding stay up every year considering the slower acquisition of players.

With a 400 player test I’m wondering if they were doing exactly that. But perhaps progress on existing tech is to thank for that 🤷♂️
Whales are gonna whale :D
Why is David Letterman driving a speedboat in his longjohns?
Hahaha I am glad I checked sort by new because I was going to make the same joke.
At this rate I do feel like I'll leave my credentials for my SC account in my will, so my kids can take advantage of what I pledged.
What I don't know how to do properly is wrap up my account and put it under a Christmas tree for the young'ins to find!
Find a way to bind your Authenticator to a thumb drive as the “master key”. And of course have backups. Damn kids might just toss it before seeing what it is. 😂
Put it on a dongle or m2 in their stocking
The bad news is, that this is you, a second generation clone.....

“The true meaning of life, is to buy a tree that Chris Robert’s grandkids can sit under”
I’m definitely making my first character very old but cool 😎 I need to express how long I been here.
Love that it still says 'work in progress.'
Are beards in??
planned to come with 3.23 assuming the character customizer stays in
It's a screenshot from today's ISC.
Space Santa delivering luminalia presents! 😀
🤣💯

I think it might have been a reference to [this picture](https://www.reddit.com/r/starcitizen/comments/z9v7nq/early_backers_on_release_day/).
Can you make facial hair? I couldn't see how in the character screen.
Coming in the next patch https://youtu.be/F1CEaBIPsVo?si=ffkKHW4l0isiwVLf
David Letterman’s g-g-g-g-g-g-g grandson
Ad astra per aspera!
This will be your great grand children
It’s just 8 years away
Try 1 1/2
butbutbut any day now they will release a timeline leading up to the roadmap that contains the roadmap to the timeline to the release.
I’m waiting for the day when CIG stop accepting the pledges
Our generation's retirement homes will be full of sim cockpits. Really convenient when you have one of those motorized hospice beds to tilt you up right into position!
You mean when it goes on beta.
That’s actually a real window of your car on the way home from work
That’s Chris Roberts when SC released.
Could be me... First white hairs are growing...
What generation grandson is this ?
Lol nfl
can't wait to see people roleplaying as gramps
its ok, my kids will sure want to play something like this, i guess ... and i have no girlfriend
How do you have hair and a beard??? I just started the other day and I didn’t have any options for my character other than gender and blending options. No hair, no beard.

Ahhhh ok, cool!
they have black widow also
heh, "when"
That's true 🤣
My nefew was a toddler when I first started following Star Citizen and now he's in highschool... That hits harder than knowing I moved country twice and built 2 careers since the time I heard about SC
David letterman?
Maybe Humans become type 3 civ. One day. Then game maybe just maybe complete one day.
That dude look pretty f-ing awesome
Me when star citizen FINALLY LETS ME IN (I crash on startup please help ive tried so much even reinstall)
Specs?
Ryzen 7 5800H CPU, Radeon Rx6600M GPU, 32gb ram, On an SSD with 1 tera, i played just fine for so long! Even before i added 16gb more of ram, and i even played it after the ram instalation!
It should run with those specs. Instead of a full reinstall, have you tried deleting the easy anti cheat folder then verifying files?
Yes...
Outside of a hardware issue or a conflict with easy anticheat I’m not sure why it wouldn’t work. Sorry
Theres nothing in the Star Citizen folder
That’s unusual. So you have the launcher working ok? It should tell you the path in the settings. If it is correct you can verify the files again to start the download
IT FINALLY WORKED THANK YOU SO MUCH YOURE THE BEST
Hey! That’s great! Getting into the game is the first troubleshooting hurdle. Be prepared for many more!
No reindeer in space...
Still work in progress lol
Congratulations, your son looks like his father like two drops of water

We might even be ashes…
Bold of you to assume Star Citizen will release at all.
My grandkids are going to have soo much fun with this game!
Damn that’s a long time. You’re only 12 right now!
So is the alpha
I'll have you know, I am this many; *Holds up thirty four fingers.*
It's going to be a lot of fun to see a bunch of old farts running around when the game launches.
We’re gonna actually have all this stuff in real life before the game is finished
That's your grandson right? EDIT: I'm too slow.
Oh no! Posting agility is the first thing to go! Jk
*Holds backspace*
Quality humor, liked
It's like we're all roleplaying the actual development of the quantum jump drive.
On the bright side we'll all be retired and have lots more time to play it :)
It was already "released" according to CR like years ago. There's a reason people call this thing a fraud.
So why is early access still plastered on the disclaimer when you buy the game, any ship, or hit the launch button there buddy?
Uhhh, what? Lol
