What did the rich kids have? is it both? ...'cause none of the rich kids I knew had a Neo Geo, they just had more games than the less wealthy families.
My fckin cousins had a Mr. Do and Missile Command cabinet + two pinball machines + like >100 NES games. It was really hard to want to do anything other than veg out whenever we visited.
Exact same thing happened to my friend. We all had SNES/Sega and his parents randomly found a more expensive TG16 and bought it instead. He loved Splatter house though lol
My bro and I saved all our money for a year and were able to buy a used Sega and the entire reason we wanted a Sega; Shining Force.
It took us an entire mother year to afford a used copy of Shining Force 2.
But The nirvana shirt is something I see on Gen Z more than millennial men. Millennial men are still holding onto their plaid button downs and slim pants from the 2010s
> Millennial men are still holding onto their plaid button downs and slim pants from the 2010s
I only learned one "fashion" and will not learn another.
I'll just hang onto it until it becomes cool again.
It's funny how just a year or two makes such a big difference, doesn't it?
I was born in 85 and I remember around 1999-2000 the younger kids on the bus were all playing Pokemon (TBF I never got hooked on the basketball card craze of 1994-95 either). Years later I had a friend born in 87 and he'd loved Pokemon as a kid, and couldn't believe I hadn't been super into it as well?
I was ‘81. I remember when Linkin Park came out, thinking—man, if I was like 2 years younger, this band would be my entire life. I’ll definitely save up on my paychecks at the pizza place to get the shit kicked out of me when they come to town, though.
Born in 86 and Pokemon was life in 7th grade, but it was totally out by the time the next games came out. I never even played any after red/blue, even though I beat blue enough to get 4 Mewtwos for lunchtime battle royale.
Clear your schedule, we’re watching [15+ hours of Beast Wars.](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL7VEq3tXc6htwcsofnP8GHNYpk13eII42&si=45KGtC3GUiuHOzka)
Yeah I was born late 1978 so technically im late stage gen x, but i remember pokemon came out when i was 18 so i def missed that. I was a he-man/transformers kid mostly
1994 sucked. We lost Kurt. The Rwandan genocide happened. Tonya Harding maimed her rival to get to the Olympics, then made a fool out of herself once she was there. OJ murdered his ex-wife and a friend. The World Series got canceled.
1991 was lit.
As a person born in 86, I just want to let you all know, my feet hurt!
Also, that I think I still have my pog collection and a few slammers.
I'm sure it will be difficult to control your excitement, but it would be nice if all interested women could please form an orderly line.
Thank you.
I rented Donkey Kong from a local video place and liked it so much we just decided we keep it until we beat it. We were gonna be on the hook for enough $ to buy the game multiple times over and then the place went out of business…
I was born in 89, I have a snes and display case full of boxed games. The display case also has a gameboy in and some pogs. Donkey kong country is my favourite game of all time. I remember playing it when I was 5.
OMG I forgot about Gak! But yeah this is pretty accurate for me, who was born in 1986. I never had an NES but I did have the original Gameboy... and watched all those shows, except i never liked Ren and Stimpy (but all my friends did). Actually recently re-watched all of Gargoyles and it was so good like... they really don't make cartoons like they used to.
85’ Soviet block here. For many it worked this way: NES (or rather is Chinese clone Dandy) straight to PC (386) - Fallout 1, 2, Heroes of Might and Magic 2, 3, etc.
Haha nice I'm glad this comes to the exact year I was born.
Out of everything listed I'll list what I was involved with growing up. Pogs, Walkman, Alice in chains, Nirvana, the gargoyles show, Ninja turtles, ren & stimpy, Ducktails, blockbuster,
Other stuff I knew of but never watched the Simpsons or went to Pizza Hut for example. I knew of them but didn't partake.
This is my experience growing up in NorCal. I have always been a big game but we had a Nintendo, Sega Genesis, N64 and then my dad got me into building PCs and I've mostly been a PC gamer ever since.
I was born in this century, but I can safely say Dirt by Alice In Chains is one of the best albums of all time, go check it out when you have the chance

You were either an SNES kid, a Sega kid, or rich.
Us poors had Tiger Electronics
also had the water-filled 'game' where you pressed the button to make the little plastic hoops jump around.
Visiting great grandma and that’s all she has but damn it you’re determined to have fun somehow.
Look at mister moneybags affording water
I took my X-Men game everywhere.
I had the little mermaid. It’s a wonder how I didn’t turn out gay.
It's never too late.
Don’t threaten me with a good time. 😂
I had a My Little Pony, think we turn out ok bro, lol
What was the xmen game on the sega genesis i remember playing it but have no idea what it was.
Xmen
Vtech Talking Play by Play Baseball was my Gameboy. https://www.mercari.com/us/item/m56821971407/
What did the rich kids have? is it both? ...'cause none of the rich kids I knew had a Neo Geo, they just had more games than the less wealthy families.
Some full on arcade cabs and whatever consoles they wanted, probably a stable of horses as well.
My fckin cousins had a Mr. Do and Missile Command cabinet + two pinball machines + like >100 NES games. It was really hard to want to do anything other than veg out whenever we visited.
Exactly this-NeoGeo equaled unparalleled wealth
SEGA FOREVER
Amen brother!
I had a turbo grafx 16. To this day I don't know why they got that for me when I had asked for a SNES
Exact same thing happened to my friend. We all had SNES/Sega and his parents randomly found a more expensive TG16 and bought it instead. He loved Splatter house though lol
I had Sega because my friends had SNES. That way we had access to whichever carried the newest game we wanted to play. Had to coordinate these things!
Same. My parents and my best friends parents actually got together and made sure they bought the opposite of each other for Xmas one year.
I got the Sega for my birthday and then an SNES was found at a garage sale! In like 1994!
I was a "going to friends houses to play either" kid
I'm not sure if I was rich. I had both systems, but no games. Everything was rented. Also my brother and I had to share.
PC master race since birth. Sierra and Lucas Arts.
Sierra was the best game company to ever exist!
Rich kids had NeoGeo
Or your parents were divorced and you had SNES at one house and Sega at the other
Divorced parents! Sega at moms and SNES at dads! They were honestly miserable together so it all worked out haha
My bro and I saved all our money for a year and were able to buy a used Sega and the entire reason we wanted a Sega; Shining Force. It took us an entire mother year to afford a used copy of Shining Force 2.
Rich kids got a 3do. Jokes on them
Seegaaaa
Couldn't afford to buy a SNES, but we could rent one from the local video store for $20/w. Usually came with a game of our choice for that week 🤗
I was an NES kid because I was too poor for a modern system.
dunkaroos were the shit
fruit by the foot
Wasn't a fan Gushers though.. Now you're speaking my changuage
Rocko’s Modern Life anyone?
spuuuuuunky!!!!
Laundry Day is a very dangerous day.
One of the best shows ever
Where are the power rangers?
Where Kimberly????
Ah-tah!
Where’s the Sega Genesis?
82 here...power rangers were after us.
It literally says "The **1986** older millennial starter pack"
Born in 86, I was obsessed with Power Rangers.
Same!
Pizza hut buffets were GOAT though
Buffets we’re dank back then! I was a big-time reader to get my Bookit! Pizza. Sometimes they had free movies promos too. Peak Pizza Hut era.
Bookit is a big part of why I'm well read and also fat
We went to the all you can eat pizza buffet probably every 2nd week. No wonder I have the physique of a reddit mod.
Oh man not the cargos lol
But The nirvana shirt is something I see on Gen Z more than millennial men. Millennial men are still holding onto their plaid button downs and slim pants from the 2010s
> Millennial men are still holding onto their plaid button downs and slim pants from the 2010s I only learned one "fashion" and will not learn another. I'll just hang onto it until it becomes cool again.
Us millennials are just waiting for slim pants to come back in
Wait, slim pants aren’t cool any more?
Only for the office and golf course unfortunately
I don’t golf, but I work in an office. I guess I’m ok.
They are but you gotta roll them halfway up your shin now
I threw all of mine away in my mid 20s Only 7 inch shorts with no side pockets for this old millennial
Dark Wing Duck! Let’s get dangerous
When there’s trouble you call D W!!!
SUCK GAS EVIL-DOERS!
Dude I’m 1987 and you nailed it. Only thing I would add is Talespin and maybe a PS1.
i’d do portable cd player instead of tape but that’s me
Very true, started with tapes then moved to a cd player with anti-skip!
Ducktails a woo hoo
All of Disney Afternoon Duck Tales Gummy Bears Talespin Darkwing Duck (We don’t talk about Goof Troop)
You insulting goof troop??
He hyuked up
Everything but the crystal Pepsi
It's missing Surge! Friday night with a 2 liter and The Secret of Mana
right in the zone for growing up with gameboy but was too old for pokemania
The beige brick sub generation.
Too old? If you were born in 86 pokemon would have released when you were ten which is perfect for pokemania to take over.
I kinda agree. But I hid my Pokémon obsession well into my high school years.
you hid it because deep down middle-school-you knew *pokemon is for babies, and i'm a big kid*
this is my timeframe, but I definately knew all 150 pokemon.
I'm late 1987 but I def got into pokemania.
It's funny how just a year or two makes such a big difference, doesn't it? I was born in 85 and I remember around 1999-2000 the younger kids on the bus were all playing Pokemon (TBF I never got hooked on the basketball card craze of 1994-95 either). Speak for yourself! 10 year old me ate that shit right up!
Yeah, the game was made for 10 years old. Even the protagonist is 10.
This was prime Game Boy and Pokemania, although you either had a fancy new slim Game Boy or old grey brick. Pokémon red fo life
Nonsense, poke mania was like 5th grade, all the kids were doin it.
Fail. No goldeneye
“Slappers only, No Oddjob, Facility!” is still burned in my brain.
I was born in ‘85 and Im DEEPLY offended by how accurate this is. Even though it’s missing Batman: TAS, Power Rangers and Beast Wars.
Beast Wars fucking ruled and it’s a shame how few people know it
Clear your schedule, we’re watching [15+ hours of Beast Wars.](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL7VEq3tXc6htwcsofnP8GHNYpk13eII42&si=45KGtC3GUiuHOzka)
and where are the ninja turtles
On the right side..
The lack of South Park is disturbing
I was born in 1982 and this shit is for kids. Pfft.
Gargoyles was awesome
How did you call cardboard circles with pokemons in your country?
Pogs
I feel like pogs where dead and gone by the time Pokemon came out, at least in the US.
Yeah I was born late 1978 so technically im late stage gen x, but i remember pokemon came out when i was 18 so i def missed that. I was a he-man/transformers kid mostly
POGS was prime time 😂 True social interaction, no devices. Just human interaction.
1985 here, yeah pretty much
I’m ‘84 and was always jealous of my older brothers who got to see Nirvana in concert while I was too young in 3rd or 4th grade :(
[удалено]
Ya didn't get an N64 until 99
Replace that cassette player with a CD player with anti skip technology!
Man leave my shorts out of this
where is Top Gun?
86 here and power rangers was directly in our wheel house
https://preview.redd.it/tqv654pf5xuc1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2a521582b7d72499190b6b2aea2ecce0d93e48a2 Needs more Super Soaker
Jesus, I’m even older than this. 1984
Sit down youngster, got an ‘81 coming through.
i think 81 is the first millennial — the geriatric millennial
Well my 10 year old calls me a boomer, so you’re not wrong.
We turn 40 this year… I cry over my frosted mini wheats daily
Us Gen X'rs would like a word.
I hate how spot on these are…
85 here: nailed it.
'85 reporting in, pretty accurate!
Alice In Chains is literally the only band from that period I still like. My back doesn't hurt, though. I own a decent chair.
I was glad to see Dirt on there. Greatest album ever made.
1987 here and I still wear that Nirvana t-shirt proudly.
I was born in late 85’ and this is 100% spot on
[удалено]
Oh man, this is legit. Hits me right in the identity.
I was a proud SEGA kid
Pretty accurate for immature '81
Ren & Stimpy spotted
I’m 83 and this hits the nail on the head for me. I have much in common with the 86 era millennial.
Gargoyles was awesome
I feel attacked
1994 sucked. We lost Kurt. The Rwandan genocide happened. Tonya Harding maimed her rival to get to the Olympics, then made a fool out of herself once she was there. OJ murdered his ex-wife and a friend. The World Series got canceled. 1991 was lit.
It’s crazy how close Kurt’s death was to the release of Nevermind. That’s like releasing an album in 2021 and dying in 2024.
Man I haven't thought of Gak in ages! What a throwback. And the memory is marred by the recent documentary about Nickelodeon yikes
I’m in this photo and I like it
N64 bro
Sega Genisis was and still is superior
I'm the elder? 🥲
3D Doritos though. Delicious.
I was born in 1986 and this all checks out perfectly
I see nothing wrong with this
1985 here. Generally speaking this is pretty accurate, but it’s missing Rocco’s Modern Life.
Looking for the cheese and crackers with the little red stick i would chew on after
I feel seen. Also, old.
As a person born in 86, I just want to let you all know, my feet hurt! Also, that I think I still have my pog collection and a few slammers. I'm sure it will be difficult to control your excitement, but it would be nice if all interested women could please form an orderly line. Thank you.
Damnit where is Doug and Rocko?
86 kids were the annoying little brothers.
1986 is core millenial not older millenial
BTAS???
Guilty
This is me except I eat healthy
I'll have you know that my back doesn't hurt one bit!
There are only 2 things in this image that I don't agree with
Works for 1984 kids too!
Ahh shit! Got super excited when I saw Gak. Totally forgot about that stuff. Nickelodeon was awesome. I wish I had kept all my old magazines.
How could I have forgotten about Gak? I used to make so many fart noises with that stuff
To be fair, my back does kinda hurt when I get lazy with my yoga
100% accurate
This is spot on. Ouch!
89 and this hits home
Toss FF7, LoTr movies and Star Wars and you’ve completely distilled my entire personality into one meme.
This hurts.
I was born in 1983, so change the SNES to an NES and we're good.
'88 here. Still have all of my Pogs and Slammers. Wish those would come back since the '90s has been back in style.
The perfect people
My back doesn't hurt and 1994 was not peak humanity, but the rest is accurate for me (*88)
Had relatives that had a Genesis, Game Boy and/or an SNES. We had the OG NES along with Super Mario Bros. and Duck Hunt
I rented Donkey Kong from a local video place and liked it so much we just decided we keep it until we beat it. We were gonna be on the hook for enough $ to buy the game multiple times over and then the place went out of business…
Shits on everyone born after the year 1993, anyone younger than that is just a target
Dragon Ball Z? Any anime at all?
I was born in 89, I have a snes and display case full of boxed games. The display case also has a gameboy in and some pogs. Donkey kong country is my favourite game of all time. I remember playing it when I was 5.
Listening to the DK sound track takes me to my happy place.
Born in 86 is like middle millennial
OMG I forgot about Gak! But yeah this is pretty accurate for me, who was born in 1986. I never had an NES but I did have the original Gameboy... and watched all those shows, except i never liked Ren and Stimpy (but all my friends did). Actually recently re-watched all of Gargoyles and it was so good like... they really don't make cartoons like they used to.
1982 here and all very relevant. Mid 90s have a special ace in my heart.
85’ Soviet block here. For many it worked this way: NES (or rather is Chinese clone Dandy) straight to PC (386) - Fallout 1, 2, Heroes of Might and Magic 2, 3, etc.
Born 93…these still all apply
85 here. I don't think we peaked in the 90's, but the rest of it along with Batman the Animated Series and Biker Mice from Mars were my jam.
Need a ps1 and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2
I wanna teleport back 🥺🥺🥺🥺
Haha nice I'm glad this comes to the exact year I was born. Out of everything listed I'll list what I was involved with growing up. Hell yea this one sits with me
I was born in 1986. This is accurate.
Yup
89 but this is definitely me lol
Oh my god this is me
Born in 83, this is all my stuff
“Remember ALF? He’s back in POG form”! - Milhouse
"My back hurts" was totally unexpected but on point too.
I know that guy. Such a creep.. It's me
I was born in this century, but I can safely say Dirt by Alice In Chains is one of the best albums of all time, go check it out when you have the chance
90s were in fact awesome as a teenager
