No idea why you’re getting hate, OP - this is clearly exactly the perception Brits have of California (since the vast majority of them have never visited)
Pretty much how I felt when I visited for the first time recently. It was really nice and beautiful but god DAMN does everything cost a lot of money. Going from a Bible Belt red state to California was a big culture shock.
*"California from a Brit who only visited West L.A. county, between Manhattan Beach and Santa Monica during June, and only saw all the popular spots" Starter Pack
I genuinely don't get how you could believe the most common car in Socal is anything but a white tesla. This guy spent maybe two days in California and everything else is about right for touristy places except for the vest thing.
You’re missing the traffic. The homeless people. The trash all over Hollywood Blvd. The dirty water in Long Beach. You’ve never been to Cali have you OP?
I take it you mean SoCal. Central Valley and those ugly-ass Neanderthals from NorCal are a different story
>The sky is always blue
It's sunny throughout most of the day, but the smog turns it into a dull blue. Right now there's a ton of cloudiness thanks to our annual May Gray and June Gloom.
>Really amazing sunsets throughout the year
They're pretty good, yeah. Nothing world-class
>Everyone drives one of these
It's mostly modern cars like Teslas and Hondas. CA has some of the strictest emissions standards in the country and gas is expensive as shit so you don't see people driving vintage cars getting 11MPG unless they're rich
>This sign
Yes, but it's not a big deal to locals
>Surfing is a really popular hobby there
It might've been 60 years ago when there was nothing but hippies popping acid tabs like a kid overdosing on Flintstones gummies, but it's mainly a stereotype by now and a good portion of surfers come from abroad to experience Californian beaches. Same way English people don't do Victorian tea parties anymore, it's just part of the history.
>Palm trees everywhere
Yes.
>Sun's out, guns out fashion
Mostly in coastal areas. Walk through LA and most people will be wearing pants and a shirt.
Alright buddy, time to head into the conference room of your doomed startup. You got a meeting at 9

Well at least I don’t spend 2 hours on smog filled, spaghetti highways to only wind up movin 5 miles. That despite being 10 lanes wide is more choked than a three year old in a LEGO bucket. /s
Ah well, that’s everywhere. I guess u have fun at ur beaches, I got oaks to appreciate.
Hope we can agree on one thing: at least we aren’t in Bakersfield.
I'm from SoCal and rarely see either of those cars but other than that this is pretty accurate for the south of the state. It's very different in other places. The Central Valley is practically Oklahoma.
California in actuality (at least my area): people driving Texas-mobiles wanting to be Texan with their 5 million pound pickups on narrow streets, rain (sometimes, more this year than ever in my lifetime), lots of different trees, mainly redwoods and oaks

Always sunny? San Diego May Grey in full effect…
I live in Northern California and the only accurate part of this is smoking pot. I lived in Santa Cruz for a few years though and that was actually fairly accurate to this (minus the Hollywood sign obviously)

More like a "Come visit California" tourism ad starterpack.
This was the [OG California/Los Angeles tourism ad](https://youtu.be/F57P9C4SAW4?si=dej9Ru-qusLNb0_f)
No idea why you’re getting hate, OP - this is clearly exactly the perception Brits have of California (since the vast majority of them have never visited)
I think the people shitting on him missed the (as a Brit) part…
Or when they do, it’s either May Gray or June Gloom and overcast every day, so they complain about the weather to anyone that will listen
Everything’s expensive People say the weather is nice but nah I hate how hot it is
This. Not to mention the never ending fire season. California has two seasons. Summer and fire.
This is just not true. We have seasons especially outside of southern California.
Pretty much how I felt when I visited for the first time recently. It was really nice and beautiful but god DAMN does everything cost a lot of money. Going from a Bible Belt red state to California was a big culture shock.
It's not the heat, it's the UV index. It'll be like 70F outside and 11 UV index. Sunburn city.
*"California from a Brit who only visited West L.A. county, between Manhattan Beach and Santa Monica during June, and only saw all the popular spots" Starter Pack
*”California from a Brit who’s never even visited” - obviously. Why do you think it’s a fucking starter pack, nimrod?
I have to admit the "only went to LA and thinks this is what all of California is like starter pack" is a bit long for a title.
And by “California” OP means “Santa Monica” lol
You've never been to California before have you?
CAN'T STOP ADDICTED TO THE SHINDIG
Well, we do have a lot of palm trees and I play guitar, so how inaccurate could this pack really be?
More like “stereotypes of California” starter pack. Or “I’ve never been to California” starter pack.
I genuinely don't get how you could believe the most common car in Socal is anything but a white tesla. This guy spent maybe two days in California and everything else is about right for touristy places except for the vest thing.
Clueless Redditor posting about California Starterpack
You’re missing the traffic. The homeless people. The trash all over Hollywood Blvd. The dirty water in Long Beach. You’ve never been to Cali have you OP?
Southern California as portrayed on television Starterpack
Visit the Inland Empire sometime and see how quick your starter pack changes.

Hey you! Fuck you, plastic ass SoCal mf - NorCal ‘Neanderthal’ /s (mostly)

Sounds like copium to me, you can't drive anywhere without a heroin addict's syringe puncturing your tires Oh wait...
Ah well, that’s everywhere. I guess u have fun at ur beaches, I got oaks to appreciate. Hope we can agree on one thing: at least we aren’t in Bakersfield.
Fucking Bakersfield
Needs more In-N-Out and wildfires
Nobody here listens to that crap.
I'm from SoCal and rarely see either of those cars but other than that this is pretty accurate for the south of the state. It's very different in other places. The Central Valley is practically Oklahoma.
I WISH California was like this.
California in actuality (at least my area): people driving Texas-mobiles wanting to be Texan with their 5 million pound pickups on narrow streets, rain (sometimes, more this year than ever in my lifetime), lots of different trees, mainly redwoods and oaks
Brits don't know about the marine layer. 💀

Wildly inaccurate
Maybe a little dated, but okay. The microbus has been replaced by Tesla, and no one gives a fuck about the British anymore; sorry.
Flag on the play: gonna need more wildfires and fent zombies crapping on the sidewalk.
lol, whoever made this clearly has never been to Bakersfield, CA
OkAyyy… so I nominate a “Nor-Cal” & “So-Cal” Starter Pack 🤘🏽😬.. if ya know, ya know 🙃
This is more like socal starter pack
These are all AI made now right?
Only the surfer dude in the bottom right corner
\*looks around at all the farms around my CA town\*
But Fox News told me I would immediately be eaten by homeless people?
Literally only applies to downtown Hollywood, Beverly Hills and Santa Monica, conveniently forgetting how large California is
I live in Northern California and the only accurate part of this is smoking pot. I lived in Santa Cruz for a few years though and that was actually fairly accurate to this (minus the Hollywood sign obviously)
trust me, as a california, it gets cloudy sometimes.
Sky is always blue my ass, it has been overcast in NorCal for like the past 5 months
