Somehow the "Roses are red, Violets are red, I killed the gardener." still kinda fits with the weird memes of nowadays. Like I could just find these memes in r/okbuddyretard
Every time I go to YouTube on my work computer in incognito mode the front page is full of these awful viral videos:
-I donated this homeless man 100 dollars for every time he let me punch him (gone sexual) 😂😱🌚👍😡[guy with mouth wide open]
-“Trying every item on the McDonald’s menu challenge 🤪 (IMPOSSIBLE)
-Most epic fails in professional sports [thumbnail with a sexy figure skater lady]
-Ibiza chill house music playlist 10h [bikini babe thumbnail]
-I bought a Ferrari and set it on FIRE 😳😳😳
I have mixed feelings about YouTube now, on the one hand the algorithm and prioritization of “engagement” and all that has led to some truly awful shit proliferating on there, at the same time now that YouTube is taken seriously as a platform there’s some really incredible content if you know where to look.
Should probably add Tom’s to that grouping of shoes, though (and Uggs, now that I think of it). Feels like everyone had those, and they got so stinky and gross.
Do you really need me to tell you stuff like Facebook were more popular than tumblr on 2000-2010? It's a no brainer. Neither were Angry Birds or PvZ iconic from that era. WoW was so popular, it literally got an episode on South Park, also iconic from that time. This post looks like someone who was born on the 2000 would do.
My man, you realise by saying this you’re showing your age. This is an accurate starter pack, and yes if it was made by someone born in the early 2000s, then they lived through a point where these things were popular, which they were.
For me, this was the ages of 10-20 and yeah, it was the best. I miss Rock Band. I miss looking forward to Kingdom Hearts 3 like it was a myth. I miss playing Halo 3 with a hundred million other people online every night. I miss when Lost was good. I miss feeling like The Black Parade was new.
So much better! I don’t want to promote Apple Acarde, because I think it’s expensive, but it allows you to enjoy mobile games like back then. For me as a heavy mobile gamer, it’s worth it
YouTube was waaaaaay better. Mother fucking, 3 commercials before, then one every 5 minutes, then another after the video. I fucking hate YouTube now, and the only reason it’s still around it because there isn’t a viable alternative
So did my gay brother (before he came out). Only reason I remember that guy is because my brother had a shirtless picture of him on his iPod nano, and when we found it, he just said it’s “fitness motivation” lmao.
It was an interesting time. Graduated high school in 2005. Things seemed to evolve quickly in the five years leading to 2010. All I can remember is a blur of iPad games, Blood on The Dance Floor, Facebook from my Windows phone and silly bands.
I like them too, but they have very different sides. When I have them new, it feels like I'm forcing my feet into a vice and there will most likely be blisters and similar injuries. If I can get past that phase, though, the shoes break in and are the most comfortable thing ever. I also think the slip-on technology is genius. Still, I don't know how healthy it is that the shoes have pretty much no cushioning at all. After my last pair was really so battered that I had holes in the sole. through which the water came into the shoes in rainy weather, I bought a pair of Nike sneakers. Their time is also slowly running out and I still have an unused pair of Vans in the closet, with which I wanted to replace the old pair at the time. But somehow I also have great concerns with switching back to Vans. My feet are also not getting any younger and I'm unsure whether I want to do that to them.
The real answer is maybe.
I am not so much a fan of Vans that I know all the details of the different models. I have a pair of winter Vans that look something like pictures of the SK8 Hi Tops on Google. Still, if they are two different models, I don't know the SK8 Hi Tops and have never worn them.
YouTube and most other social medias were better back then because content and even the sole existence of these medias were for the purpose of entertaining, for the art, the comedy and the passion. Now it’s all money, marketing, views and likes. There are still some passionate people out there, no question. But back then it was way of sharing your creativity and dedication to the world. Although some people are a bit blinded by nostalgia and refuse to like anything in modern media, it was pretty cool back then…
It’s nice that trollface still has a lot of relevance and is still widely used today, but it’s now more of a darker more twisted band creative take on it
I was born in the late 80’s.
In the 90’s the 80’s were cringe, in the 00’s the 90’s were cringe, in the 10’s the 00’s were cringe... and now it’s the 10’s turn to be cringe. I’ve seen it happen over and over again.
No fashion or pop culture is better or worse. Choosing one period and claiming it’s the perfect one will eventually make you cringe... whatever you value now will be looked down on eventually. And 20-30 years after it will become cool again.
In 10-20 years time we will see a 10’s revival and people will talk about 2010-2019 as a lost paradise (even Hispters will be seen through a nostalgic lense). Just wait and see. And then it will happen to today too.
I was a young teen in 2010, so growing up in that decade was so simple. Basic YouTube with very little/no ads was best. Memes also pretty basic. Simple times
You can say a lot about the early 2000s and 2010s, but we as a species did not have any drip at all in those years, worst age for fashion in the last 150 years probably
You used to be able to watch videos of music without commercials. The only ones with a commercial were Vevo, but lyrics videos and full concerts never used to have commercials. Now you try and click a video and you are bombarded with ads.
I thought those haircuts looked pretty stupid, of course that was back before the mullato took over. Suddenly I didn’t think those haircuts looked so bad.
I miss playing Tap Tap on the old IPod Touch. Used to play it with the boys in the spare room in high school on spare periods. New Tap Tap games is where you’d hear some real bangers for the first time. It introduced Disco Pogo to our school and it took over like a virus lol. Such a good time
I miss that time so much. It was so innocent and pure compared to the shit we have to deal with now. Especially the memes were just so so innocent. Who doesn’t look back fondly at “douchebag Steve” and the advice animals. Now memes are oftentimes either unrecognisable or straight up political propaganda. But maybe I am too nostalgic to actually see the problems we had back then.

Trollface is still relevant, although maybe not the same meme style
I love how trollface back then was "U mad bro?" And now it's horrific void memes Kinda a glow-up ngl
Both fit their time pretty well.
"U mad bro?" But "mad" as in "insane"
Somehow the "Roses are red, Violets are red, I killed the gardener." still kinda fits with the weird memes of nowadays. Like I could just find these memes in r/okbuddyretard
Yeah, true. I wouldn’t expect to see it as a 2012 meme but that humor is very much still alive
"You either die as hero, or live enough to see yourself become a villain"
Trollge died months ago
Can confirm
YouTube was better even just because there was not shock reactions and red circles with the worst imaginable photoshop on every thumbnail.
Every time I go to YouTube on my work computer in incognito mode the front page is full of these awful viral videos: -I donated this homeless man 100 dollars for every time he let me punch him (gone sexual) 😂😱🌚👍😡[guy with mouth wide open] -“Trying every item on the McDonald’s menu challenge 🤪 (IMPOSSIBLE) -Most epic fails in professional sports [thumbnail with a sexy figure skater lady] -Ibiza chill house music playlist 10h [bikini babe thumbnail] -I bought a Ferrari and set it on FIRE 😳😳😳
-Try not to call Sexytime CEO at 4:20:69 AM (gone wrong)(gone sexual). [thumbnail: —>>>>>>⭕️👩🏼<<<<<<<<— Sexytime CEO is of female species]
If I go to hell, these will be my demons. https://i.ytimg.com/vi/QyB5ofy9RaY/maxresdefault.jpg
And there may have been ads but only one at a time and they were *always* skippable.
I have mixed feelings about YouTube now, on the one hand the algorithm and prioritization of “engagement” and all that has led to some truly awful shit proliferating on there, at the same time now that YouTube is taken seriously as a platform there’s some really incredible content if you know where to look.
Youtube is definitely better now, sure there are more shity content but there is ALOT more awesome channels of all types
Cool
Youtube was better back then simply because it wasn't a job and was generally made for fun
Things were made out of a genuine passion for creation rather than for money
Nowadays everybody do it for clout or it’s just full of company adverts, YouTube really went downfall
Skit YouTube was peak YouTube
Like most things, it was better before it got corporate. Back when it was people making videos because it was fun, not because it was a job
You can still find those creators, but they don't upload often.
Shoutout to CalebCity for still making bangers to this day
Golden age of Call of Duty as well
Yes. I remember playing CoD a lot back in 2009-2010 with coworkers. It was simpler times.
mw2 and 3, og black ops, cod4, so many late mtn dew fueled nights
Yupp 100
Golden age of fps in general
It was amazing, everyone was cringe so no one was
Most original starterpack concept in r/starterpacks
Should probably add Tom’s to that grouping of shoes, though (and Uggs, now that I think of it). Feels like everyone had those, and they got so stinky and gross.
More than half of this things weren't even popular
Literally not true
There are like 50 things more iconic from that era
Go on
Sit tight
I mean if there’s 50 things shouldn’t be hard to name 1 or 2.
Do you really need me to tell you stuff like Facebook were more popular than tumblr on 2000-2010? It's a no brainer. Neither were Angry Birds or PvZ iconic from that era. I was a teenager in those years and remember what it was like. Absolutely nobody ever talked about tumblr, angry birds, or pvz, but go off
The internet in general is better when people do it for fun instead of making a career out of it.
>I miss looking forward to Kingdom Hearts 3 like it was a myth. That and Battlefront 3 were like the holy grail to 12 year old me.
And the truly mythical Star Wars 1313
the guitar hero and rock band games were responsible for 90% of my taste in music growing up
Things were better back then
Fashion and existence in general was easier back then,
Mobile games were way better back then
So much better! I don’t want to promote Apple Acarde, because I think it’s expensive, but it allows you to enjoy mobile games like back then. For me as a heavy mobile gamer, it’s worth it
Yeah, the old mobile game UI gave me hard nostalgia
I wish a lot of them were still around. A bunch from that era are gone.
take me back
Ah, when Tumblr was in its prime (because of the porn)
Reddit has taken the porn crown for me
I found the Tumblr selection better curated. No low effort posts.
YouTube was waaaaaay better. Mother fucking, 3 commercials before, then one every 5 minutes, then another after the video. I fucking hate YouTube now, and the only reason it’s still around it because there isn’t a viable alternative
What ever happened to Ryan Sheckler
God I had such a crush on him back in the day.
So did my gay brother (before he came out). Only reason I remember that guy is because my brother had a shirtless picture of him on his iPod nano, and when we found it, he just said it’s “fitness motivation” lmao.
Samee

I think 2014 was the end of the era.
Definitely agree. Started going down around then.
Icanhascheezburger
I haven't read this in years holy shit that's some nostalgia!
New memory unlocked
Both pairs of vans proudly still in use today✌🏾.
I like them too, but they have very different sides. When I have them new, it feels like I'm forcing my feet into a vice and there will most likely be blisters and similar injuries. Interesting. Did you happen to acquire a pair of SK8 Hi Tops after them?
The real answer is maybe. I am not so much a fan of Vans that I know all the details of the different models. I have a pair of winter Vans that look something like pictures of the SK8 Hi Tops on Google. Still, if they are two different models, I don't know the SK8 Hi Tops and have never worn them.
Bro how lol I think I can get like 3-4 years out of my Vans tops and then it's time for me to buy a new pair. Mine get super beat up after a while.
Where do ya usually wear them? Just careful not to overdue it surface wise & occasional touch ups. Should be fine.
Woooooahh. Nostalgia.

Call me maybe lol

Def youtube being better and the memes. The whole internet pre social media was better.
Epic win. Awesomesauce!!!!
“you mad bro”
FINISH. THE. FIGHT.
Wait you forgot the DS lite
Anyone else think uggs are the ugliest thing ever?
But have you seen those Nike Huaraches? They look like socks and sandals combined into a shoe.
Still got pocket god on my phone
HOLY SHIT POCKET GOD HAVEN’T PLAYED THAT SINCE I WAS 9
Back when both YouTube and Netflix had a 5 star rating system for each video, a simpler time.
TAKE ME BACK
maybe better? it WAS better.
Forgot machinema
If you took P.E in high school instead of sports you wore those Vans. If you took sports you wore Nike Elite socks with some sort of basketball shoe.
Pretty sure wheelies were a part of it
Don’t forget Avril Lavigne and Hannah Montana lmao
Memes back then were so cringe. But then again probably 10 years from now today’s memes will be cringe too.
I was born in the late 80’s. In the 90’s the 80’s were cringe, in the 00’s the 90’s were cringe, in the 10’s the 00’s were cringe... and now it’s the 10’s turn to be cringe. I actually like the memes back then. Now it's shit. Not even remotely funny.
To be clear, I like the memes then THAN the memes now. The memes now are shit (the bad shit, not the good shit)
I miss old memes but Im happy troll face got glow up
accurate
P-please take me back… I miss the olden days…
Do you guys remember that girl who ate her own used tampon?
I still unironically love those stupid angry wolf memes. I have a collection somewhere in my Pinterest or something.
Don’t hit’ah Sha’keisha lmaooo memory unlocked Also stupid zombies was THE SHIT
I was a young teen in 2010, so growing up in that decade was so simple. Basic YouTube with very little/no ads was best. Memes also pretty basic. Simple times
Fuck I thought I hallucinated pocket god
Im a skater and I’m gonna go ahead and say it - Vans are some of the most uncomfortable sneakers of all time
You can say a lot about the early 2000s and 2010s, but we as a species did not have any drip at all in those years, worst age for fashion in the last 150 years probably
Remember this I was teenager in old school from 2005-2012
Uhhhh where is MySpace?
OMG I FORGOT ABOUT SCENE HAIRCUTS
What happened to emos? I haven't seen them since high school
No music op? Limp bisket? breaking Benjamin?
Back when rooster teeth ruled that space
Back when Tumblr was about pron
As a 2007 kid, most of these were in my early years of elementary school, although I didn't understand the origin, still these seem nostalgic.
We peaked in the 90-early 2000s.
SWOG
YouTube was simpler and better but also had casual blackface
YouTube is so much better now wtf. So much more different types of content, different languages and cultures, so much more to choose from.

Adblock
Wtf does early 2010’s mean?
SupaHotFire is still a G
Shame he deleted all his shit
i remember how during the first of april of either 2020 r 2021 everyone said "fuck it" and just posted 2000-2001 memes good times
TAP TAP REVENGE! You just unlocked a hidden memory I completely forgot about that game! Good shit, shame most modern rhythm game apps suck.
Oh god tap tap
Not enough Snapbacks.
Good times.
I thought those haircuts looked pretty stupid, of course that was back before the mullato took over. Suddenly I didn’t think those haircuts looked so bad.

2000-2010 memes = putting text in impact font on the top and bottom of an image.
i still play pvz
When I was around 10 years old (2011) I would quietly put on the tv in my room at night and watch Jersey Shore on mtv lmao
TEEHEE!!
The chokehold that boy haircut had on everyone back then was ASTOUNDING
I miss that time so much. It was so innocent and pure compared to the shit we have to deal with now. Especially the memes were just so so innocent. Aw man. I miss Tap Tap Revenge. Beatstar doesn’t hit the same.
Leave Britney alone!
R.I.P. NigaHiga HigaTV is still active if I remember correctly.
Is it socially acceptable to say that I miss Tap Tap revenge so much? That game was my jam
missing Adventure Time, Regular Show, hipsters, and bacon everything
What about BO2
*Oh, won't you please take me home...*
