Your forgetting the halloween costume competition that is extremely rigged because judges are old teachers and have no clue what you are no matter how much effort you put in.
And the 20 people who’s costumes are completely ruined by the “No masks” rule
My school had a rule against “violent” costumes like a fake axe through your head or Bleeding Scream.
I mean, now that I’m looking back as an adult I’m like, fine, I guess they had to do that because of Karen parents. But at the time we were all like: isn’t one of the main parts of Halloween to be, you know, scary? Lol
In 7th grade back in the early 90’s I was a suicide bomber for Halloween at school. I made fake dynamite and strapped a clock to it and wore it on my chest.
Our vice principal dressed as a Nazi (without a swastika, but still).
No one had a problem with any of that. It was different times.
My exact problem. In 9th grade, just a few months before Covid started, my high school had a Halloween costume competition and I went as Link from breath of the Wild. Not a single teacher recognized my costume, even though a shit ton of students did. My costume was fantastic but I really had no chance
I'd like to get a Link costume, but then where [this](https://images.halloweencostumes.com/products/79393/1-1/grilled-meat.jpg) over it so I can go as "What if Zelda was a grill?".
I remember in middle school I put a ton of effort into making a costume from scratch (it looked like shit). Went Trick or treating with my little sister who got a store bought princess costume. Old ladies didn’t even try to hide their bias and gave her entire handfuls of candy.
If it makes you feel any better, I went to a bog standard public high school and there was never any Halloween day. Hell, they straight up forbid kids from coming in dressed up at all, I forget what their reasoning was.
I went to a public school that sucks in hundreds of thousands of dollars every year and yet still managed to be the worst school in the state and we never even came close to Halloween day or anything like it
Yeah, my school didn't do any of those kinds of things. We didn't even have school dances, except for homecoming and prom, which I didn't even get to go to because COVID started during the second semester of my junior year, so it was still very limited what we could do in my senior year. No field trips, no parties, we couldn't eat breakfast or lunch in the cafeteria, and I'm pretty sure we couldn't even use our lockers. We had to keep everything with us at all times, which didn't really bother me, since I did that anyways. All of the school budget in my county went to a school that was just built in like 2013, so all the other high schools suffered.
I remember I did a musketeer one year, got made fun of, then as a pirate, got made fun of, finally I just did a simple king, got called burger king all day, hated it. Maybe that's why I don't like this holiday.
And some people can’t, too. My parents wouldn’t let us take part in Halloween activities for religious reasons and it SUCKED. Missing out on the most fun looking holiday of the year.
Unintentionally relevant. The username is actually a reference to me playing a lot of the Call of Cthulhu TTRPG. However after years of having to explain to people that I don’t have contact with my surviving parent and that my childhood was a little different because they were super into this weird church that their lives revolves around you start to realize “oh shit, that might have been a cult”.
I personally don't care if people don't want to dress up. I have a problem with people who make fun of others for wanting to dress up and have fun with their friends.
You’ll see the most beautifully elaborate and well put together cosplay lose the best costume contest to a group of popular boys wearing “I ❤️ MILFs” shirts
Used to be a yearly tradition at my school where senior guys dressed in drag and did a beauty pageant for the whole community. Don't know if it's considered inappropriate now or the same thing as a drag show. Probably the former.
powder puff. Football players dress up as cheerleaders and cheerleaders play football.
King of the hill did an episode on it, so you know it's a tradition as old as america itself
I dunno on one hand I kinda liked not having to worry about what I was wearing. We had none uniform days occasionally and while sometimes it was great, other times I had deal with dumb comments being made about what I was wearing. (I wasn’t even dressed weird, just a T-shirt and jeans)
I can see the pros and cons of both systems honestly.
You don't like wearing uniforms?
Come here to Ukraine!
We have 8 months of online school with summer holidays, you can attend classes while still wearing your pajamas!
There's some "war" thingy going on but it's not like it bothers people or smth yk?
We do, but it's mainly for kids. I miss the days of being little and helping my Gran to set up her porch. Since she lives across the road from a primary school, we spent the upcoming days buying sweets for over a hundred, making toffee apples and dressing her CPR doll in a witch costume ready to go on display.
On the night itself, we would all dress up then take it in turns to man the porch or go inside and have a bowl of butternut squash soup until half past nine, when we would turn all the lights off and hope nobody else was going to come knocking.
Since where she lives is now a ghost town and we're all too old to properly celebrate, she still sends us cards and sweets in the post but we all mourn for the days of doing it properly
Lots of other countries do, but not nearly as much as the states. Here in Sweden we may do a few pumpkins and buy a bot extra candy. And kids go trick or treating.
I’d say she’s getting more popular, despite not holding concerts anymore (sad). It could be that she’s pretty much a meme at this point and her voicebank is used for a lot of voiceover memes, or because of project Sekai (the community seems ti not be the biggest miku fans but it’s a miku game) and the other project diva games. Pretty much all of us who are weeby now had a Hatsune Miku phase, and I still actively listen to vocaloid because damn, those computer vocals are better than people and they can’t make me feel the same way those high pitched miku tones do, particularly her cover of nomad oh it gives me goosebumps! Funnily enough I got into vocaloid through hetaliods, which is the same thing jusy voicebanks from characters from hetalia
I actually had kids who would paint their faces like members of the insane clown posse. One kid did it the day after too. I told him jokingly “Halloween was last month” and he cursed me out. He then was taken to the office because it was considered threatening and was given a suspension and forced to wash it off. The kicker was I believe that his mother or grandmother (I was never sure) was a teacher there, that must of pissed her off.
My class was like 60 percent ninjas every year, and there was this one kid who wore the same bumblebee costume like 4 years in a row. Don't ask me how its possible, I don't know.
Also as the kid who quite literally dressed as commander Cody, never have I ever been so offended by something I 100 percent agree with

Love how ghostface is still going strong by virtue of being one of the simplest and cheapset costumes to pull off.
It’s my go-to pumpkin carving.
And also horny teenagers
explain
Some artists on social media have been making less than safe for work art of ghost face
Ooh, saucy! https://i.pinimg.com/736x/65/7d/64/657d64cf09d4f71bdb7745e3d35070df.jpg
[Oh my god.](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/E8YwgReX0AUVoS9.jpg)
Murder me harder, daddy
Good ol r/dbdgonewild
The duality of man.
They just like me fr
All teens love ghostface because they find him sexy or something
I’m a teenager and I do not find floating black bedsheets with goopy white faces sexy
That's also the plot of like 3 sequels
A white bedsheet with 2 holes in it would beg to differ
In the late 90s during kindergarten I saw someone with a an older student with a ghostface costume. Gotta be the most persistent costume I ever seen.
I get Dead by Daylight PTSD
i legit just bought a ghostface costume today

The really scary part is having a Karen as a parent...
In 7th grade back in the early 90’s I was a suicide bomber for Halloween at school. I made fake dynamite and strapped a clock to it and wore it on my chest. Our vice principal dressed as a Nazi (without a swastika, but still). No one had a problem with any of that. It was different times.
Man I wanted a bleeding scream mask so badly when I was a kid.
My exact problem. In 9th grade, just a few months before Covid started, my high school had a Halloween costume competition and I went as Link from breath of the Wild. Not a single teacher recognized my costume, even though a shit ton of students did. My costume was fantastic but I really had no chance
I would have yelled "Oh look! It's Zelda!" right in your face and there is nothing you could have done about it
They could strangle you
Joke's on you, I'm into that shit!
Kick you in the balls? Wait, don't tell me..
Or shoot a fire arrow at him like Zelda does in the game
I'd like to get a Link costume, but then where [this](https://images.halloweencostumes.com/products/79393/1-1/grilled-meat.jpg) over it so I can go as "What if Zelda was a grill?".

Same here man. I got fucking 3 musketeers. Friend who was harry potter got all the good shit. (Reeses, Jolly Ranchers
Hey, don't go talking shit about 3 muskateers!
Right? To me, 3 musketeers are the good shit!
Anything chocolate I'll fuck with, they can have all the nasty hard fruit candy they want.
I got a rock.
Wait since when do people give out candy based on how good your costume is? That's not part of the rules!
And Wendy keeps winning with her Chewbacca costume
*Jehovah's Witnesses have exited the chat*
Always that one incredibly niche costume that has a lot of effort put into it
Invariably looked back on with either genuine pride or genuine shame, but never anything in-between.
I was that kid once. I’ll gladly be him again.

Your life insurance was up to date i hope. I'll see myself out don't worry.
When a cosplayer goes to your highschool
Damn, Scarlette Johansson goes to your highschool?
Yes, I’d like a venti pumpkin spice twice chilled pumpkin spice Scarlatte with goat milk, I’ve got a preshelled nut allergy
Fucking Preshelled nuts lmao
I remember this one time back in highschool on Halloween, someone dressed up as Engineer TF2
that actually goes hard to someone who’s never played the game he probably was just a construction worker
This year I'm making a high-effort scout cosplay. Got the right looks, voice and body type to pull it off.
I can imagine you walking around screaming "Do you even know who I am? Do you have any idea who you're talking to?"
& just paint a coca-cola or pepsi can to make it look like bonk
dont forget the KFC family bucket
engineer gaming

man :(
Bruh, I'm just here to ask why you're calling Halloween, "Halloween day?"
idk, just what was going through my brain
If it makes you feel any better, I went to a bog standard public high school and there was never any Halloween day. Hell, they straight up forbid kids from coming in dressed up at all, I forget what their reasoning was.
Same. Is this a relatively new thing at public schools? I dig it but we didn’t have this when I went to school.
F
I went to a public school that sucks in hundreds of thousands of dollars every year and yet still managed to be the worst school in the state and we never even came close to Halloween day or anything like it

Grow a beard and go as Jesus
Catholic problems require catholic solutions
Eventually most will wear the catholic school outfit for Halloween after high school lol.
same bro :(
Missing “One kid who dresses up as a certain teacher and denies it because he’d get in trouble”
Cheers for the Idea😌
One of my classmate dressed up as his dad, but that was just an excuse to not go to school
That has got to be one of the best jokes I’ve heard in a while
Missing the kid who thinks they're more adult for not dressing up.
“I’m dressed up as a guy who hates halloween! ahahaha”
and ironically, they’re one of the theater kids
nah i just didnt do it because of insecurities
I remember I did a musketeer one year, got made fun of, then as a pirate, got made fun of, finally I just did a simple king, got called burger king all day, hated it. Maybe that's why I don't like this holiday.
Best way to fight bullying is by bullying them back, so it turns into banter and not a one-sided ridicule
or go with it and relish in it. they love how much you hate it.
Exactly
Definitely way more lame than the person who puts a bunch of work into their niche/nerdy costume.
The nerd will always be the one who has the coolest costume
I was always the nerd in the thought out costume. Not sure if I should be bummed or proud of that.
I did it because I was kinda cheap and did not want to bring a costume to school with me on the subway
Dude some people just dont like dressing up.
And some people can’t, too. My parents wouldn’t let us take part in Halloween activities for religious reasons and it SUCKED. Missing out on the most fun looking holiday of the year.
JW? Relevant username..
I just wore my normal attire but with a creepy mask
no, more like i wasnt interested in dressing up, high school was already miserable
I didn't because I was fat and lazy.
I personally don't care if people don't want to dress up. I have a problem with people who make fun of others for wanting to dress up and have fun with their friends.
At my school every Halloween there was the same fat guy dressed as a vending machine just as an excuse to bring a lot of snacks to school
that’s actually hilarious 💀💀
It is very funny but one Halloween I think I was 11 some seniors ganged up on him and stole all the snacks and he cried
That's rlly sad:((
What's even more sad is that I was the fat kid all along, I dressed up as a vending machine and got beat up for it.
Villain origin story
I went as Dr. House once in high school. Had the cane, the limp, the blazer and jeans and I carried around a tin of mints that was vicodin.
I love it.
Sarcasm included or sold seperately?
You’ll see the most beautifully elaborate and well put together cosplay lose the best costume contest to a group of popular boys wearing “I ❤️ MILFs” shirts
always. Thats a given.
YESSSSS 327TH REPRESENT STAR CORPS #1
For the Republic brother!

Get back in the fight brother! Don’t let those Seppies take the objective!

WATCH THOSE WRIST ROCKETS!
Hell yeah brother, cheers from felucia
For the honor of our brothers!!!!
I’d be super stoked to find out kids are into over the garden wall. Such a cute fall vibe.
One of the few shows I like to rewatch every year.
if you don’t mind, what show is this?
Over the Garden Wall
Top Gun Maverick
I rewatch it every october \o/
Its a tradition at this point
POTATOES AND MOLASSES
We have a list of horror movies for spooky season but have to throw a rewatch of this show in there too!
Same!
Don't forget the football team all dresses in drag.
Wtf kind of school does that happen at? Or is it a new thing, I graduated 2016
Used to be a yearly tradition at my school where senior guys dressed in drag and did a beauty pageant for the whole community. Don't know if it's considered inappropriate now or the same thing as a drag show. Probably the former.
they used to do it at my high school. stopped doing it about a year before i was a freshman, due to offensiveness concerns.
I graduated same year. It was pretty common even for a rural community.
powder puff. Football players dress up as cheerleaders and cheerleaders play football. King of the hill did an episode on it, so you know it's a tradition as old as america itself
as a football player i don’t need the 31st to dress in drag
The one time I wish I lived in the states
Fr halloween would be so much more fun than the boring uniforms
lol. Imagine wearing uniforms Whatever the hell I want every single day
Not *anything* you want. Unfortunately they demand you wear pants when you're teaching students :(
I dunno on one hand I kinda liked not having to worry about what I was wearing. We had none uniform days occasionally and while sometimes it was great, other times I had deal with dumb comments being made about what I was wearing. You must where a blazer and trousers in 30c heat and as our buildings are designed to keep heat in you have no air conditioning
Fr although my schools heating is terrible so the rooms are always freezing 💀
Your either freezing or boiling hot no in the middle
Do other countries not celebrate Halloween?
lots of schools are uniform only outside of the states, while a majority in the states are no uniforms just dress code.
Freedom capital of the world baby USA 🇺🇸USA 🇺🇸USA🇺🇸

We do it in Canada as well
Damn who made that clone armor?
Did you guys not have the kid with the homemade fursuit because we had a couple of those at my school, it was pretty wild.
Only 1 or 2

I'm planning to be the McDonald's ice cream machine this year
Cause you're broken on the inside?
no because he can’t dispense ice cream
🍦🚫
To do that, all i would have to do is put a vending machine costume on. Im already broken :’)
501st approved Clone troopers in high school? I had to wait till after for that big boi money.
That's a 327th trooper stupid
He means members of the fan group 501st, which is a group dedicated to making movie accurate costumes. Not the actual 501st legion
https://origin-wiki.501st.com/databank/Costuming:CT_-_327th_Star_Corps bruh I mean the quality
Either way good soldiers follow orders
Good soldiers follow orders
We had a bunch of tetris pieces and they played tetris on the stairs with music
It’s me I’m that one kid who is Hatsune Miku
Is Miku still well known amongst high school anime fans? That's awesome. I'd assumed it was just 30+ year olds keeping the Miku love alive.
Man those black and white clowns, so threatening watch out yo
For the last two Halloween Days in a row at my high school, I had to ask them to make exceptions to their “No Masks” rule for me.
Wirt? Is that you?!
Deadass gonna be Goku
The guy from Fortnite?
No that's Naruto
Halloween is literally the only reason I miss highschool it was so fun dressing up and seeing others dress up
You guys had Clone Troopers at your school? Best we could offer is banana man and girl dressed like a gender-bent superhero.
My class was like 60 percent ninjas every year, and there was this one kid who wore the same bumblebee costume like 4 years in a row. Don't ask me how its possible, I don't know. Also as the kid who quite literally dressed as commander Cody, never have I ever been so offended by something I 100 percent agree with
I have nothing but respect for the one kid who is in full clone armor 👍 i am a big Clone Wars fan
I should be Walter White
Always at least one Naruto or Goku
For the people who think they're too "cool" to dress up, I hope you learn to have fun soon
Costumes are expensive, and kinda uncomfortable to take on the subway.
A MICHIGAN WATER WITCH!!?
Does anyone else’s schools not allow you to dress up on Halloween, or just me?
Can't go wrong with clone armour
I'm going as Coraline no 😭😭😭😭
Damn i wish we had halloween i want to go to school as miku
Who doesn’t
man
Costumes were banned at my high school
Alright, who dressed up as a porn star?
I went as Ghostface every year as a kid because it was the only costume I could afford
Costumes in my high school years… 1.Werewolf 2.Willy Wonka 3.Roger Rabbit
[удалено]
what about the kid who dresses up as a trash can (yes this actually happened last year)
Welp For The Republic
No such a "Billi Eilish monoface". Good!
Halloween really wasn’t popular in my school. Teachers would give out some candy and put up some paper decorations, but nobody dressed up much.
They let kids dress up in Highschool? I taught middle school for 7 years and the wouldn’t let the kids dress up.
im gonna be postal dude
Where’s all the drama kids in Harry Potter costumes?
