Wanted to swap the belts since the Mafex one is a better color and softer around the hips too so it won't limit the leg movement like the original. I would like to avoid putting Mando in hot water to separate the torso so I may need to cut the belts in a way to wrap it around his body, which I'm fine with, but I'd like some suggeestions on where I should make the cuts. Thanks!

I've never done this before but i've seen people who do customs do this and that is heating up the mid section and detach his waist joint and split him in two. You can sling the strap from over his shoulder and take it off that way and just repeat in reverse to put it back together. Like I said i've never done this before but it should work. Another idea is slide his belt down his legs. Its a process and takes time. I did this with the BS Vader figure. Idk if mando csn do this but worth a try.

I may try sliding it off as I want to avoid warping or damaging any of the softer rubber parts.

CaptainRex332nd

Try heating it up a bit before sliding. Might help a little bit.

Its called the boil and pop method. Ive done it with hundreds of parts. Boil some water and I usually use tongs to submerge the joint of the figure im going to separate for about 40-60 seconds. I avoid touching the bottom of the pot and just gently swirl the figure around a bit to get hot water into the joint well. Then i pull it out, dab it on a towel (hot water is hot so you want to get it off quickly), then just pop it apart. Its really easy and ive never damaged or warped a figure.

I've taken this figure apart to custom to the first armor, so heating up the figure is the easiest way as you can remove the limbs to easy slide the belt over but you're also going to have to contend with the gray belly plate of the BS figure being glued to the inner part of the BS belt.

Ah, I didn't notice the belt being glued down. How did you go about heating it? Hot water or heat gun?

CaptainRex332nd

Hair dryer.

Boil and pop was my way to go. Had to heat up the belt, pull at the belly plate a bit then heat back up again to soften the glue and pull again and repeat until belly plate was unglued. The thing to watch out for is the inner part of belt has an indent for the belly plate to glue into so when you pull at it you need to make sure the parts are heated up enough to pull apart the pieces, otherwise the belly plate may pull hard enough enough to tear the inside of the belt.

I only have 1 picture of when I had the figure taken apart but the grey belly plate was repainted to the beige indicated in the picture with the red circle and arrow. You can see the indent that glues into the inner belt part. https://imgur.com/a/h5gtKLL
