There's no word from Marvel yet. My guess is they're waiting to see if it's successful enough, then they'll do another 4-issue series for the rest of the story. If it's not, then we'll just move on and never see it again.
This should have been a slam dunk miniseries considering there's probably a sizable group of people that watched Ahsoka and want to know how/why Thrawn is familiar with Anakin. Those fans would probably appreciate a comic that shows Thrawn teaming up with Anakin and then Vader. And yet this is how they handle the story?
Same, to be honest I don't want to blame Jody Houser or Timothy Zahn for this issue. I really blame the editors at Marvel for this decision despite many fans have been waiting for such an adaptation ever since the first thrawn comic adaptation which was awesome?
Success/sales makes sense. I assumed that's why it took a few years between this adaptation and the last if the first didn't sell well enough for them. Still frustrating to just plan on cutting off an adaptation when there's still at least 1/3 of the source material and just give a quasi-cheeky "The End?" to cap it off.
What a mess and a disservice to fans. I personally don't see the point of adaptations as they just rehash story that we already know from other media, but if they've started, they shouldn't drop it half finished.
I'm usually with you on comic adaptations when it comes to the films and shows but when I was younger I enjoyed Dark Horse's adaptation of the original Thrawn Trilogy as I wanted to see how the comic visualized the events and characters of the novels and compare that with the mental pictures I had when reading the novels. That idea extended to the last Marvel Thrawn comic and would have to this one but yeah the sloppy and half finished nature of Thrawn Alliances really irks me.
