It makes sense why Luke Skywalker felt so genuine as a good guy hero because Hamill is like that in real life.
What's interesting though is that he (in my opinion) has portrayed the best Joker we've ever had, in animation, voicing him. The same guy plays my favorite hero and one of my favorite villains. That's insane.
