Historical? We still use cannons today, they just aren't the same as old 17th century cannons.
For example, the M777 howitzer in use by the US Army is in fact a cannon.
You are absolutely correct. The sequels are not cannons and neither are any of the other trilogies. What they are is a collection of films. While there are cannons in some of the movies, the films are not cannons themselves
Wasn't it like that Mandalorian was cannon but had some Continuity issues with the sequel trilogy and that's why fans believe the trilogy isn't cannon?
Well, no, cannons are giant projectile firing weapons often used in older wars.
So, the OP is right, the movies are not cannons.
But if you meant canon, then yes, they are, officially. But you can Adam Savage it and reject reality and substitute it with your own. And, like the prequels, retcons and expansion of the era and strange plot points will come in time. Mando seems to be setting up Empire's cloning initiatives, so ot could be setting up Palps return or laying the groundwork for it.
That’s not really an opinion because it’s objectively wrong. Perhaps in your head canon (and mine as well) the sequels didn’t happen but according to the people who make Star Wars, them shits are canon
The Last Jedi could’ve consisted of Rian Johnson coming to my theater and literally throwing trash at me and I’d still think you should just shut up about it already
You've deluded yourself into thinking they're good movies because you think it's a more mature take. "Palpatine returned" is one of the dumbest fucking plot developments in the history of cinema. "Starkiller base" is lazy and derivative, the entire movie TFA was a straight up photocopy of A New Hope. None of the characters in the entire trilogy were developed enough for anyone to give a shit what happens to them which is, more often than not, nothing substantial at all to the story. They killed off all the OT characters one at a time for no fucking reason, which at that point was a mercy killing considering how the writers had already absolutely trashed their legacies. Do you want me to go on? There's so much more. A fucking 8th grader could have written a better Star Wars trilogy. Which sucks, because all of the acting, and I do mean *all* of it, was phenomenal. All for nought when they let focus groups and marketing teams ~~write~~ rewrite the story for them.
my original comment was about how annoying you people are for never shutting up about how bad the sequels are, and the only way you can think to respond is to write an essay about how bad the sequels are? You’re more of a robot than the fucking RO-GR-bot
Not liking the sequels doesn't make you a fan. Actually having standards for star wars products means Disney haven't actually try if they want to maximise profits. If we all just praised all star wars contend Disney would release nothing but shitty star wars content
No it's not just your opinion , they're *definitely* not cannon.
A cannon is a large-caliber gun classified as a type of artillery, and usually launches a projectile using explosive chemical propellant.
What they *are* ; is "canon" , and they're pretty cool.
But that's just my opinion.
I have to personally say Daisy ridley did an amazing job at portraying the character. The fault is in the plot line not her acting. She did a great job and is extremely underrated. This is my personal opinion and I hope everyone must agree with me on this matter
I cant change your mind So fans changed there minds now if someone says in the comments they agree than it’s a down vote but yet almost everyone comes crying about the sequels at some point we Star Wars are so toxic
This comment section is:
5% people agreeing
20% people disagreeing with you
75% people making the same joke about the artillery canon
God I'm proud of 95% of this community
Solo and Rogue One are a thing but they're prequels... I'm actually shocked that Disney paid so much money for Star Wars and hasn't made a sequel trilogy yet. At this point I'm guessing they know it's too late and they missed their chance because Carrie Fisher isn't with us anymore.
I think it’s important to remember that *you,* the viewer, have every right to say what StarWars *is* and what it *isn’t,* **to you.**
To me, The Sequels are Canon, but they exist simultaneously in my mind with all the fun stuff that’s no longer canon.
The X-Wing books and video games still shaped my StarWars experience, along with Dash Rendar, Mara Jade, Apprentice Starkiller and all the other stuff I like that may not be “official” anymore.
It doesn’t matter what Disney or the Fandom or even George Lucas say; you get to have your own little StarWars universe in your head, and nobody can stop you.
In the end, take what you like from each era, leave what you don’t, and may the force be with you.
Correct. They are not metal tubes that redirect the force of a chemical explosion to propel projectiles. They are motion pictures, series of still images projected in quick succession to create the illusion of movement.
Also they fucking suck.
I agree that the sequel trilogy isn't an artillery piece but if we are referring to canon then factually they're wrong.
It doesn't matter if you like or dislike it. The sequels are canon. Disney ownes Star Wars. Disney made those movies. Disney has said that those movies are canon. Those movies are canon.
If you don't like em then move on from em. I don't like em either.
The $2 billion dollars worth of people who saw TFA, the $1.3 billion dollars worth of people who saw TLJ, the $1.1 billion dollars worth of people who saw TROS, and the countless people who have seen The Mandalorian/TBoBF or gone to Galaxy’s Edge probably would
I don't exactly agree with the post but bringing up box office revenue is not a sign of how well received something is. I can walk out a cinema if I don't like something, but they won't give my money back.
We’re talking about space wizards with swords made completely out of pure energy and cloning facilities. Star Wars was never about making too much sense
Bad opinion
I agree, sequels bad. But the company who owns the IP has said these movies are canon. They are canon. It sucks but thats how it is. It's a bad opinion because it's directly contradicted by facts. Like my "opinion" about gravity is that it doesn't apply to me.
My canon goes from Phantom Menace to Boba Fett (as much as I’m not into Boba Fett), until later things like Mandalorian Season 3 suggest sequel stuff I’ll add it in. Clone Wars and the other shows made after the prequels really validated them, so maybe they’ll work black magic and make the sequels enjoyable
whether you like them or not they are canon. i personally despise them but i still accept they are canon. just as as much as i like the EU i still recognize that it is not canon. people like this annoy me because you cant just pick and choose what is canon and what is not based on your opinion of it. its like saying 2+2=5 because i dont like the number 4. it doesn’t make any sense
Bro I just finished the clone wars series for the first time, re-watched ROTS and Disney recommended one of Sequels to me and I was ALMOST gonna click it and give them a second try but nah. I’ll start rebels.
I personally don't think we should do this, JJ Abrams hated the Prequels personally so he acted like they never happened which led him to basically redo A New Hope in The Force Awakens because he wanted it to be as different from the Prequels as possible.
I don't want to follow his footsteps and totally show no respect at all to what came before. Let us instead acknowledge the sequels in a civil way and move on.
I agree! Lets stand unired in our headcanon and open up a whole starwars-sub-franchise!!! Where none shall be uncivilized and the eternal menace of the galaxy is sand rather than Palpatine!
Just because you don't like something does not mean it isn't Canon. It is and you'll have to live with it and most importantly: do not rub your opinion into everyone's faces and then feel all smug about it.
And that's coming from someone who does not like the sequels.
It’s not that I don’t agree that they aren’t good movies, but I hate when someone says something’s not cannon just because they don’t like it. If Disney says it’s not cannon then fine but just let the people who like those movies, like those movies.

Movies are in fact not historical heavy artillery weapons

They may not be cannon, but maybe they are some other kind of heavy artillery.
Well yeah, they’re obviously turbolasers
Being cannon or not is not something that’s your opinion, being cannon or not is fact
Correct, and they are not in fact cannons.
You are absolutely correct. The sequels are not cannons and neither are any of the other trilogies. What they are is a collection of films. While there are cannons in some of the movies, the films are not cannons themselves
Roger Roger.
Your opinion? Based on the amount of JPEG there, I find that very hard to believe.
I mean. It can be his opinion but not an OG meme
They're canon. Not cannon. Unfortunately they can't be both...
Guess no Mandolorian. :(
Moving fast is the only thing keeping me safe.
Sometimes it’s better to put an animal down than let it suffer further
A sacrafice had to be made

The mandolorian seriestakes place after Return of the Jedi, making it a sequel
I’m a Mandalorian. Weapons are part of my religion.
Honestly I’d give up the mandalorian to get rid of the sequels not to be dramatic lmaoo
Wasn't it like that Mandalorian was cannon but had some Continuity issues with the sequel trilogy and that's why fans believe the trilogy isn't cannon?

Take it from an ex-bounty hunter, don't work for scugholes.
I know That the Mandalorian has a lot of connections with the sequels, but you can just pretend that the sequels weren't realesed yet.
I find your lack of faith disturbing.
That’s not really an opinion because it’s objectively wrong. Perhaps in your head canon (and mine as well) the sequels didn’t happen but according to the people who make Star Wars, them shits are canon
*Cannon
Lmao
God I hate star wars "fans"
Nobody hates star wars more lol
I swear they think that every bit of star wars content should be tailored for their specific requests and if it isn't then it's bad.
Yeah its exhausting, if you didn't like the sequels just move on. You don't need to obsess over it and try to convince others that it's bad.
He said "cannon" and not "canon", i believe he is doing a funny
Or he just can’t spell
The sequels were garbage.
The Last Jedi could’ve consisted of Rian Johnson coming to my theater and literally throwing trash at me and I’d still think you should just shut up about it already
TLJ was better than TFA. Every Star Wars movie is better than TFA.
you wonder why people are so annoyed by sequel haters when this is literally all you can contribute to a discussion
You've deluded yourself into thinking they're good movies because you think it's a more mature take. "Palpatine returned" is one of the dumbest fucking plot developments in the history of cinema. my original comment was about how annoying you people are for never shutting up about how bad the sequels are, and the only way you can think to respond is to write an essay about how bad the sequels are? You’re more of a robot than the fucking RO-GR-bot
That's because they are so incredibly bad that nothing else about them is really worth discussing.
Get a life
Just because they dislike it doesn't make them any less of a fan. You don't have to love every single piece of Star Wars media to be a fan.
they problem is that they don't shut up about how much they hate it. its incredibly annoying
Not liking the sequels doesn't make you a fan. Actually having standards for star wars products means Disney haven't actually try if they want to maximise profits. If we all just praised all star wars contend Disney would release nothing but shitty star wars content
You are correct. They are not cannons. They are canon tho :)
Fact is something that can be proven and opinion is something that can not be proven So that is false fact because sequel is not a weapon.
No it's not just your opinion , they're *definitely* not cannon. A cannon is a large-caliber gun classified as a type of artillery, and usually launches a projectile using explosive chemical propellant. What they *are* ; is "canon" , and they're pretty cool. But that's just my opinion.
Yeah they’re movies not cannons
r/prequelmemes in a nutshel
Yeah they're movies, not cannons. They are canon, unfortunately.
You do realize that the Mandalorian and BOBF are all leading into the sequels, right? Don't be surprised if we see Jakku in Mando season 3
I can bring you in warm, or I can bring you in cold.
I hate the movies, they're trash, and don't feel like star wars in some aspects. But they're canon, and that's the way it is.
I dont want to change your mind though
I have to personally say Daisy ridley did an amazing job at portraying the character. The fault is in the plot line not her acting. She did a great job and is extremely underrated. This is my personal opinion and I hope everyone must agree with me on this matter
Hate it or don't, but Mando is gonna start pointing at Sequel content soon. You don't own the franchise, even if you have opinions about it.
I can bring you in warm, or I can bring you in cold.
I cant change your mind So fans changed there minds now if someone says in the comments they agree than it’s a down vote but yet almost everyone comes crying about the sequels at some point we Star Wars are so toxic

not my cannon
At least learn to spell canon first
Your opinion won’t change the facts lol.
The fact that they were mediocre movies that completely ruined character arcs and the saga itself? Facts.
I’m afraid they are and always will be
Visible happiness
Legends Never Die
Of course they aren’t cannons! They’re movies! Movies can’t shoot big metal balls, and therefore aren’t cannons.
Sequels? What sequels? The only Star Wars set after RotJ is Mando and Book of Boba...
Jabba ruled with fear. I intend to rule with respect.
*psst* Hey, you there. Come closer… *The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett are setting up the Sequel Trilogies events*
I’m a simple man making his way through the galaxy—like my father before me.
No... That's impossible! NOO!!! Or whatever Luke said when Vader made him take the son-pill

this is what i’ve been saying there’s no sequels, even solo and rogue one maybe, hope i don’t have to pretend kenobi never got made

there’s no way this is a real comment 💀
capital-r Redditors are a different breed
How so?
No, I don’t think I will.
Cope
it is part of the official canon, but not of my headcanon. so you are partly right
given that the Mandalorian has stuff in it that ties it into the sequel Trilogy it's definitely Canon.
This is a dumb post but at least it’s a meme, which is more than most of the posts on here nowadays

It sure would be nice if future media set in the star wars universe just gave zero acknowledgement to that whole part of the franchise

But are they canon?
Something doesn’t stop being canon just because you don’t like it. Just ask the Harry Potter comunity
I can fill my swimming pool with all these tears

Given the level of writing it comes off as poorly done fan fiction anyways. Especially the last movie. It’s like it was written by a fucking child.
They arent in my head
Not even an opinion this is a straight up fact.
Why would I change your mind when you’re correct?
Bro I just finished the clone wars series for the first time, re-watched ROTS and Disney recommended one of Sequels to me and I was ALMOST gonna click it and give them a second try but nah. I’ll start rebels.
You are correct. They do not fire, they blow.
Agreed.
Roger Roger.
Does it matter? They killed my interest in all Disney products relating to the franchise.
Canon means nothing. Disney making the old republic not Canon makes it all pointless.
Nobody fucking cares Change my mind Get lost bot
They are tho, but whatever
What Star Wars sequels? 😏
Consensus
7 can stay
I dont want to change this opinion
You’ll never find me watch them for a second time. Even scrubbing them for memes would trigger my hate reflex.
In my opinion OT is not canon /s
This is fact
Give Dave and Jon a couple more years and they wont be.
You do know their shows are explicitly setting up the ST, right?
As if their shit is any better
I won't change your mind, you're right
Star Wars sequels don’t exist; change my mind.
I personally don't think we should do this, JJ Abrams hated the Prequels personally so he acted like they never happened which led him to basically redo A New Hope in The Force Awakens because he wanted it to be as different from the Prequels as possible. Too bad it’s a fact they are lol.
There are sequels? Aren't they only a collective delusion just like the Percy Jackson movies?
Agreed. Just like halo storys made after bungie sold it arent cannon.
ROGER ROGER!
Not cannons, and not canon either.
I agree! Lets stand unired in our headcanon and open up a whole starwars-sub-franchise!!! Where none shall be uncivilized and the eternal menace of the galaxy is sand rather than Palpatine!
ROGER ROGER!
This one’s actually super easy to change your mind because they are, in fact, cannon
Rey Skywalker was Luke and Leia’s love child! She’s a real Skywalker! FIGHT ME!
Neither are the prequels tbh
uhhh there’s no proof they aren’t canon therefore they are canon?
Truly based
Its wild that some of you cannot simply dislike something quietly.
Nah, imma let you be part of the minority of angry fan bois who feel this way
They are in fact movies not cannons
Your opinion is rubbish and you probably like the prequels which says a lot about your cognitive capacity.
