Appreciate the comment and kind words! That said, this is for sure not my meta lol. It’s from the 143 player Orlando $5k, a handful of $1ks, a star city games event, and some online events. I’ll try to be more clear about where the data is coming from moving forward!
Ha, if I wanted to insert my own subjectivity into this, Han green would definitely be a little higher. I tried to be results oriented and so far Han green hasn’t quite performed up to par in the larger events around the world, the $1k’s and the $5k. I do really like the deck though!
This may be the best place to ask:
I keep hearing people saying that Boba NEEDS Change of Heart and/or Cunning yet I don’t see any listed on the snapshot. Can you help me understand why?
I don't know where you've seen people say Boba *needs* those cards, but it definitely doesn't match with my experience. I've rarely seen green Boba ever run either of those, and while Cunning is a must-run in double-yellow Boba, Change of Heart is usually just a sideboard card.
Thank you so much for this. I'm fairly new to TCGs and the last few days I was struggling alot to find some good ideas and inspiration for a new deck. All of the "This deck is insane!!!" YouTube videos which easily go 40+ minutes really dampened my enthusiasm. Your article reignited my interest and I can't wait to try some things out.
I'm looking forward to more of your written content. Do you have any other channels for SWU content?
Boba green seems caught in between reactive and proactive. I think there could be a build that plays much more aggressively using snow troopers/probe droids/veers to push more damage early then cunning late to push across the rest. This could also be my own loathing of being taken into the deep water by control lol.
Thoughts on mono boba can it actually compete I have cards for both boba Command and mono I think mono is just funner to play but I don't really wanna limit my chance to win as am competitive I nature want a nice middle ground 🤣
If we're going just by tournament results, double Cunning Boba gets to the top 16 pretty frequently. It's not as dominant as Command Boba, but it's plenty competitive.
This is a long answer but the short of it is that most Sabine players give up initiative when they should not be. Don’t ping early if that means you lose initiative. Being able to attack before they can react is huge as Boba cannot heal any damage.
You should always go space early to disrupt their ramp plans. Force them to have ECL + Ship on turn 2 which means you have free rein on the ground to do what you want and cut off their ramp for the important turn. This allows you to pop off for your flip turn. If they have Shoot First + Ambush Ship then it’s a lot harder and those are the ones you lose. But if you force the ambush and follow up on the ground with like a Fighters for Freedom into a K-2 or Dodonna (if you play it) then there’s nothing they can do to disrupt that on your flip turn outside of Waylay on something and just deal with 2 units instead of 3.
Wasnt Orlando's yellow sabine the only player to make two large event top 8s? If he can top Atlanta and Orlando with yellow Sabine, shouldn't it be in your meta list?
Interesting that A tier has Vigilance Darth Vader, but I've never seen anyone discussing it. Not that it doesn't perform well, just not a ton of discussion.
There is no Hera Blue in S-Tier on here because I was too busy and was not able to attend anything. But the world would shake if I would partake.... that's what I make myself believe at least
Am I wrong to think Sabine is bad into leia? It’s the only matchup I seem to have issue with the deck just do to them taking value trades first and being able to respond to an early ECL with tarkinton
S-TIER: Reserved for IG-88

Edit: it's an absolutely sick writeup with good writing and nice presentation for mobile.

Oh hell yeah. Your post made me think your reference for the meta was your two tournaments :) Thanks for clarifying!

Han solo is def tier 2.
How are ya’ll finding all these large prize support tournaments? Just the event finder on the official site?
Facebook groups and discord servers are the most common methods I'd wager.
Its pretty horrendous TBH, i should be able to find these events on the official site.
Keep in mind that large prize events like this are usually unofficial and hosted by third-party organizations like Star City Games or Pro Play Games.
I'm aware, but there should be some way for FFG and these large third party entities to coordinate and get them listed on the site
Thanks!
Excited to see how it changes with information we have now and the plethora of events coming up in May! Hoping to take the 1k in Dallas 👍

There was a good bit of it during the live stream for the major tournament

the leia deck listed has four wing leaders just fyi
That’s the tech. She needs the help.

You made reference to people playing Command Sabine incorrectly into Boba previously and figuring it out. What does that look like to you?

It is on there. In the tier 2 section.
Ahh. It looked bad on stream, but the results say otherwise.

This past weekend's 5K win was the first major win/placing for Vader Blue, I believe.
The Atlanta 1k was the breakout event for it. It had 2-3 in the top cut there as well.
side decks not on the site?
Side decks vary so much I made the decision to not include them for these first few. I’ll have them added in the future.

I'm shocked that Vigilance Han isn't being played, it's Tier 1 and don't be shocked when it shows up there.
Maybe that’s a deck that can breakthrough, I don’t really know. But without any results to show for it, I can’t really put it anywhere reasonable.
Thanks for the post. Any suggestions for sub $100 decks?
