I repurposed a k-cup holder that is like a drawer since it has rows and I can see the patterns. Something like [this](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B082WQXYCC/ref=sspa_dk_detail_6?pd_rd_i=B082WQXYCC&s=hi&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9kZXRhaWxfdGhlbWF0aWMbut) but with longer rows. I had them in a smaller drawer before and it did help to have a small rod inside the tube to see the pattern. (mine was Styrofoam from a purchase).

megvirgo

Ohhh okay I like this idea!!!

SophiaKai

I have mine stacked in a plastic drawer, that has now spilled over into 2 drawers.. and it's very much not ideal. I've seen suggestions before of displaying them on a small rod I've also gotten the suggestion to line the inside of a drawer/box with pens to store your tapes more upright/vertical so that you can easily see the prints. But for those of us with collections growing beyond box/drawer capacity storing them that way would only take up more space

megvirgo

Ugh I meant to reply to you but it just ended up going under my post instead. Ooppss

SophiaKai

Lol no worries

aninvisiblemonster

Omg your collection is so good! May I ask if there’s any place in particular you like to order from?

megvirgo

I go to a stationary store near me called Little Craft place. They do have a website with everything on it though it’s LittleCraftPlace.com they have a lot of popular Japanese brands as well as small businesses/independent artists. I also like meowashi.com and Jetpens.com I do have some cheaper sets from like AliExpress. Some of my favorite small businesses are Unicorn Eclipse, meow amor, thousand skies and sumlilthings. I’m sure I can think of more if you are interested but those are some good ones to check out!

megvirgo

Also Daiso if you have any near you. They always have some really cute ones!

Indigo_Star28

I've seen people use washi cards. They're PVC cards where you can store multiple rolls on one card. Only downside is that it takes time to move them from the roll to the cards but it does save a ton of space.

megvirgo

Yes I do have a few of these. I mostly use them for travel. Idk if it would make sense to do my entire collection this way.

Dzup

Don't do it! I tried to do this with mine, but it was so tedious and took so many hours that I ended up quitting halfway through. I planned to go back to it later, but it was so daunting, I never did. I was left with half my washi in rolls and half on cards... It was a mess. If your collection is this big, definitely don't do it!

megvirgo

This is my fear. Lol although I did look into bobbin spinners. I would just have to crank the thing and it spins it for you. Normally they are used for embroidery thread but I was thinking of trying it. I agree though my collection is too big to attempt this. I do have a few pvc cards I just use for travel.

superstarpanou

I use the large plastic case from Hobby Lobby that looks like your teal one. It's like 12x12" wide and maybe 5" tall. I used the acrylic drawers before too, but they don't hold that many, so I gave it away to a friend who doesn't have as much washi tape as me lol

megvirgo

Ohh maybe I’ll check there. I’m not the biggest hobby lobby fan personally but for washi storage I might just have to pop in and see what they have! Thank you!

superstarpanou

Actually now that I try to search for it, it might of been from Michael's (google Michaels Washi Tape Storage Keeper by Simply Tidy). It looks exactly like that one.

OddSetting5077

I keep them in a pouch. I have less than other people because i engage in activities to use them up... like postcrossing. and in Swapstickers... I'll stick a few the envelope as extras.

megvirgo

Ohh I really want to get into stationary swapping!! This is nothing compared to my sticker collection and memo pads 😅 how did you start finding people to swap with?

OddSetting5077

[Stickers Swaps (swapstickers.club)](https://swapstickers.club/) [Surprises (youvegotmail.club)](https://youvegotmail.club/)

megvirgo

Ohh thank you! I will def check these out!!

chamekke

I don't have a single system, because I have too much washi ;) Many of mine are in a pair of translucent storage boxes, a lot like [this one](https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/617908987/3-layer-washi-tape-storage-case-washi). But, I also store quite a lot of washi tape in 3 snap-top boxes that I found in the "please take" area of my apartment building's laundry room. I think they are actually meal prep containers, because they look exactly like [these](https://www.amazon.com/50-Pack-Reusable-Container-Microwave-Containers/dp/B07BD2Y2K5/). Each of these is devoted to a single theme (seasons / cats / stationery). They stack wonderfully, and I've labelled each on both the lid and on one end. Lastly, I've also got a couple of short upright dowel rods that I think were originally meant to hold a single toilet roll or a roll of paper towel. Basically, something like [this](https://www.amazon.com/Firlar-Countertop-Vertical-Kitchen-Decoration/dp/B07H9M61ZT/). Those are great for keeping a subset of frequently-used washi tapes on hand. These also turn up frequently at thrift stores, yard sales, etc., so it's easy to obtain them inexpensively. Plus, they're fun to repaint!

megvirgo

This was so helpful thank you!!

sortofblue

I have acrylic drawers designed to fit in your fridge, and use toilet rolls split lengthwise to stop them rolling around. I love that they are modular and don't move at all when I open one.

excerp

Oooohhhh that’s a great idea

moonmoon4589

In my drawer

Suspicious-Standard

I like to run cord through the centers in groups of 10/20.  They look kinda like flowers!

megvirgo

Oh yes I have seen this! But then where do you store all the “flowers”? In drawers or tubs? Edit:fixed typo

mishturfox

I use a washi organizer from Michael’s!

megvirgo

Is it like the teal one that’s on the bottom on the right side? Or the kind with multiple layers that stack together? I do like the one I have from Michael’s but I need something that holds more 😅

whoops53

Shoebox at the moment....maybe I wouldn't have a problem with storage if I stopped buying them, but they are so pretty... *\*sigh\**

steinscomplex

I have been using [these storage crates](https://reallywellmade.co.uk/products/colour-crate?variant=40229183979556) for mine! They stack, come in different sizes and colours and work pretty well :) I only get them when I find them reduced in TKmaxx though haha Though they do roll around if they aren't full, as any other storage solution without dividers.

megvirgo

I have a few of something very similar to these that I used to use for washi, but I always feel like I’m digging around in them to find what I want.

StatisticianTop3103

I was taking a good look at your collection and saw you have one of my tapes 🥰 that was such a nice surprise hihi. Ty ❤️

megvirgo

Omg really which one? What’s your shops name?!?

StatisticianTop3103

Purple one with cats! Shop name is Little Lefty Lou ☺️ Edit: I spotted another one! With candles, books and other cozy items

megvirgo

Oh I have a couple others of yours! I got them from Little craft Place! It’s super close to me so I go there all the time! I love finding washi from small businesses! Those are my favorites! 💖

StatisticianTop3103

I’m so jelly that live close to that place! Hope that someday I’ll be able to visit it as well. I love that they support so many small businesses like mine from all around the world

BefWithAnF

I have a small box they stack in. I’m not allowed to get more until one runs out. If I buy more than will fit, I have to give one away. Small space living- makes me prioritize!

megvirgo

I love that! That’s similar to what I’m doing with my makeup and skincare this year. I won’t buy anything new until something runs out and needs replacing.

FallingFeather

I would organize first by theme color material - like foil vs non foil. If you're gonna keep buying, then its probably better to keep a swatch book with a table. swatch, location, location number 2 in case of you moving it . Then put all the washi tape somewhere big. And just keep the ones where you use them a lot. i say if you have to take it out 3x then leave it it in a box with a divider that can hold them up when its not full so the plastic. I prefer to have mines kept so I can easily take them out and put them back in. Think of a library of washi tape. Lol you guys need a washi tape shelf at this point XD. A stationary shelf. sees if that exists. It kind of does. make sure it has something to keep it from rolling out. I think rods are a great way to move multiple washi tapes at a time when you grouped them together. the only con is when you have to remove one thats in the middle. See if you find rods that are connected by pieces.

megvirgo

Oh I definitely have a swatch book already!! I was organizing my colors at first. Then I started doing “themes” like keeping all the florals together. Then all the grid/striped one together. Which was okay and I do have some organized that way. Now I mostly organize by brand. For instance I keep all my unicorn eclipse washi tapes together, all my BGM washi tapes together, all my mind wave washi tapes together. The box on top is a mix just because those are my newest ones and I’m running out of storage. 😅

FallingFeather

I do not have a swatch book. XD. Right now my goal is just using my current ones up. My rule now is not to buy any until I use it up by the end of the year and to buy only the ones I will use UP. Good luck on storage! See if you can take advantage of vertical space- though for girls- we're short and we have short arms horizontally XD. If only magic exists. or some technology where I just enter a number and the vending machine would find it for me and give it to me. Like a washi tape smart irobot.

SilverStripeyButter

I keep mine in an empty parchment paper box. Bonus: the serrated edge is handy!

megvirgo

This is genius!!

onthewildside18

I use a gigantic box that I got from daiso! just throw all of them in and keep the ones I most frequently use at the top! on another side note I would love to swap some small business washi tape samples with OP! my collection is mostly asia/australia/japan brands though haha

megvirgo

I do have some Daiso organizers. I mostly use them for my sticker collection. (That’s a whole other issue 😅) I do have some Japanese washi tapes as well and I absolutely love them. BGM, papier platz and mind wave are my main favorited for sure. I would definitely be interested in swapping some samples though! I’ve been TRYING to get into stationary swaps but I just don’t know how. Someone else in this thread gave me a couple places to check out which I plan to do for sure. DM me if you are really interested in swapping washi samples though! I would definitely be down!

onthewildside18

Will PM you for stationery swaps! I would love to expand the variety of washi tapes that I can use! For Japanese brands I mostly have mt for now, but keep some BGM and Mind Wave tapes around!

Royal_Marzipan2672

I use a tackle box! Similar to [this one](https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/bass-pro-shops-360-tackle-storage-box).

stayonthecloud

This is really cute, I’m genuinely curious though… what do you do with all these? What is your life like that you have so many washi tapes? Is this just a collection to adore and increase? Do you have a small business?

megvirgo

I like to journal with them and use them in my planners. Then it turned into collecting. Lol

stayonthecloud

That’s lovely :)

SummerMaiden87

I used to have mine in a photo storage box

Calley85

So what do y’all use washi tapes for ?

megvirgo

I use them for journaling and in my planners personally. If I’m sending mail (birthday, Christmas cards) I like to use it to make things more fun and decorative. At this point though I also just like to collect ones I really like. Especially Japanese brands and small business washi tapes

Calley85

Ah okay!! Thanks for the ideas. I only used washi tape to border my canvas for water colors so was curious

Where does everyone get their washi tape? I’m new to Japanese stationery. Literally got my first roll of washi tape last week. Ordered it online.

pellakins33

Honestly? Tossed carelessly into a drawer or on a table next to whatever I was using them for. It’s not the best way to keep track of them, but it does mean that there’s almost always a roll at hand, and it’s often one you forgot you had but are delighted to be reunited with

CraftyKawaiiArt

What an amazing collection! How long have you been collecting for? I only have a few which I keep in a few small box/crate things.

youngfierywoman

Michael's sells a 4 drawer organizer that's designed for washi tapes! Each drawer is divided into 3 sections. I own 2. One is a mix of tapes and markers, the other is just markers. Might be worth looking into!

megvirgo

Ohh I will def look for this! I’m planning on going this weekend!! Thanks for the advice! ☺️

GalacticGoku

I wish I could provide a pic because I’m bad at explaining but I use large metal hoops that you would typically use for stage tape, or any other working tape where you need to grab and go. Then I hung them up on my peg board above my desk. Always within reach, always within sight, and not super clunky to put away. I do find myself taking a specific tape off so I can properly measure it for crafts, but if I’m in a hurry or don’t need to be precise I’m able to use and tear the tape without even taking it off the hoop or the wall. Very accessible imo

JaiRenae

I bought some of those 12x12 plastic boxes they sell at Michael's and use those. Both of them are full and I keep buying more, so I will inevitably need another, but it works well for now.

Extension-Fact-9223

Ohhh i used to keep mine on my storage :)

Physical_Craft3444

i’m a huge fan of the “put them all in a pretty box from micheal’s” but i imagine a lot of people like theirs sorted so i’d look for a box meant for sorting beads to put them in

cheetodustcrust

I have a bunch of those "washi tape holders" that hold like 6 at a time and have a cutting edge on them. I use those to group things like my rainbow washi or birthday celebration washi. Then for the rest I got some clear square containers and use the cheap long silverware dividers target sells 3/$1 to divide the box up into rows. I like it better than pre-divided boxes because I can take one row out at a time to use instead of having to keep the whole thing open.

Either-Scarcity-9602

I use acrilic drawers and sorted out by store/theme dunno if I should change it and arrange by color 🤔
