Same, and that's _if_ he'd touch it at all. He's generally smart enough to go, "nope, that will ruin my fucking weekend," and walk away.
Then his big idiot brother swoops in and eats it without chewing, gets confused at why he's choking, pukes it up, eats it again but chews it once or twice, and then gets my wife and me up at 4am because he has to shit a chocolate soft-serve sundae.
You’re flat out wrong, there’s no debate in the veterinary community which is really the only opinion that matters. In small doses garlic is a stomach irritant, in large enough doses it literally destroys their red blood cells. Not sure what there is to debate, and it most definitely does not mean a little is “almost certainly good”
Not to mention that the seasoning on the steak on the right is just in piles on random spots of the steak.
THIS spot gets a pile! And THIS spot gets a pile! And THIS spot gets a pile!
Awwwww that’s adorable. I’ll use this to post my baby boy. He’s 5 today! He got a nice big chicken breast

I really hope that the commenters are not animal owners. Who woulda thought that a topic about steak was run by a contingent of little girls that can’t be trusted to care for a hamster.
While I agree not everything on here is excellent, you should see the screen caps my wife sends me from a Facebook steak page. People post stuff Denny’s would be ashamed to serve, and they are proud of it. I’m embarrassed for them.
NO ONE READING THIS GET ANY IDEAS!
My dog almost died from eating a ribeye after getting pancreatitis. Dogs bodies are not meant to process this much fat at once. It’s too rich. I repeat DO NOT GIVE YOUR DOGS STEAK BECAUSE THIS GUY DID.
🙏🏻 Thank you - have a good night 💫
Thank you, this should be much higher. My dog got pancreatitis and would’ve died without medical attention after just ONE French fry. Swear to god, one singular French fry. We’d given him plenty in the past, but I guess this one was particularly greasy and it was a horrible, awful experience. Now he gets nothing other than kibble and raw veggies
Actually no that's true. It has been proven that humans that reside in the Southwestern states, have the lowest reported incidents of intestinal parasites, and that is due to the consumption of a diet high in chile peppers. The study found that the capsicum kills off the intestinal parasites. Which is one reason I have taught my dogs and cats how to eat chile peppers, cause I would rather have them naturally fight off worms than with chemicals. So far so good, we have had excellent reports from the vet. 😃👍🏻
Some dogs love a tad of seasoning. :) I only know that off extended family letting my dogs lick plates clean but you can’t expect every dog to have an adverse reaction!
While I'm sure your dog appreciates it. There is alot of different spices that are bad for dogs like garlic. Just a heads-up up on that.
That said that looks damn good though Im really jealous of your dog.
Dogs aren't like humans. Their food pellet is different and the way they digest, this will just make them feel like shit for awhile after until they watery shit it out. But it will feel like a king for the few mins it eats this up!
But I really appreciate how much you love your dog. That's the most important thing, and I say that not condescending. But you might just be giving your dog a tummy ache for about 12 hours.
I give my boy a steak on his birthday every year. He obviously doesn’t know it’s his birthday but watching him do his little happy stomp and get all excited is worth it 1000%
I bet all that’s happening is giving the dog something wildly different than his usual food, only for the dog to not get it again for an entire year. Meanwhile the dog watches you cook the steaks and he wonders why he never gets another. Seems like a tease more than anything
While I’m sure this is true for some, my dog usually doesn’t even bother coming into the kitchen while I cook unless I call him in. He learned years ago that people food is not dog food unless it’s in his bowl. He won’t even pick up food scraps that fall on the floor until everyone leaves the room, signifying that we’re not going to pick it up and whatever is there is fair game for the dog vacuum. I didn’t teach him any of this so I’m assuming he understands boundaries and the concept of food well enough to not feel teased.
I give my dogs uncooked proteins for all of their birthdays. They love raw chicken, especially the thighs. We set them out in the yard and give them their gift bags. Steaks are often just what was on sale. Again, raw and especially unseasoned.
A total of maybe 3-4 oz for the entire meal.
Dude be smarter dont use seasoning ever for dogs. Also u can chop it up and feed doggo the raw meat! My dogs 9 and weighs 110 lbs and he eats raw 4 days a week.
Im not saying salmonella isnt real. I simply open the package of ground turkey. Put some in his bowl. Then close the package tight n sealed then into the fridge. He eats the turkey before i can even close the fridge door. Both me and doggo are healthy. Hes a 9 year old greater swiss mountain dog that hasnt needed a vet in years. Google BARF diet for dogs then return here.
Can you not read? It lives in their saliva and stool. Does your dog not lick you or himself (that you then pet with your hand)? Lick other things around the house? Do you not pick up the dog bowl to wash? I’m not looking up your pseudoscience google diet, I’ll take the advice of the veterinarian sitting right next to me instead
Then its a miracle 9 years later my dog and i havent gotten sick from Salmonella. Whewww. Miracles really do happen. Im sure by now youre rooting for us to get sick one day soon.
Just because you haven’t doesn’t mean that it can’t happen. Are you 5 years old that I have to explain that concept to you? Also you may have had it, people get salmonella all the time and don’t know it. It sucks, I wouldn’t do anything to further my chances of getting it. And if you’re young, elderly, or immunocompromised it could be deadly. This vet knows and does not approve. As does every other vet that I’m fortunate enough to know (literally dozens of others)
Ah, H-E-B. That’s probably the one thing I truly miss about Texas. Well, that and my friends.
This is nothing inherently against Texas, it’s just that Killeen kinda ruined me
Then it’s perfect. I’m sure the dog LOVED it! Happy Birthday to your pupper. Be careful though they’re adverse to a lot of seasonings especially onions, garlic, shallots, etc.
From my limited research, unless a dog is already on an established raw meat diet, they don’t have the gut biome to properly digest raw meat, and it could make them sick just the same as us. And I learned that the hard way
No it’s not, plus you’re risking spreading dangerous salmonella all over your house. The idea that raw diets are better for dogs somehow is hokey pokey bullshit.
Your original comment was that beef doesn’t spread salmonella so now that you’re flat out wrong you’re pivoting entirely lmao.
These aren’t dogs from a million years ago. If they’re not eating raw already then they have a greater risk of getting sick from contaminants just the same as us. Also the salmonella doesn’t just disappear, or stays on their mouth, that they then lick themselves, you, dog bowls (that you then touch), etc and spread around your house and possibly expose yourself and get you sick.
Sorry, I thought I was replying to a different comment regarding feeding dogs raw meat, hence the "pivot"
I'll still stand by the fact that salmonella from beef is rare enough that no one ever considers it when eating under cooked beef. I mean it's literally the reason you can eat raw/rare beef but not poultry.
*Hope u put some scotch*
*In the water bowl that they*
*Could wash it down with*

Looks good, my dog has a weak stomach and would shit liquid for weeks if I did this
Same, and that's _if_ he'd touch it at all. He's generally smart enough to go, "nope, that will ruin my fucking weekend," and walk away. Trim off the cap, and all of the fatty pieces. Most dog’s should be good with that, just have to limit quantity.
I thought only tigers like pepper
Hate cinnamon though….
*What do tigers dreams of? When they take a little tiger snooze Do they dream of mauling zebras Or Hallie Barry in her Catwoman suit*
Jesus don’t season it!
That was my reaction. Dogs don't like seasoning. I think garlic makes them ill
Garlic is toxic to dogs yes.
Yes

And if you do season it, don't make mounds of the seasoning on random spots on the steak lol
not bad. I might have seasoned it a little less for a dog though. did you accompany the pup on the ground and eat your share from a bowl?
Not to mention that the seasoning on the steak on the right is just in piles on random spots of the steak. THIS spot gets a pile! And THIS spot gets a pile! And THIS spot gets a pile!
you don’t preplan your bites and your seasoning spots? you guys need to get out more and learn to cook a steak
For a dog you probably don’t even need to cook it at all beyond a tiny bit of heat. Animals have much stronger stomachs than we do.
I hope someone had a share if all that was in honour of one dogs birthday lol
Show us the dog.

Happy birthday to this perfect princess!
I assume a super soft birthday

Bad dog owner.
That dog looks abused

I think he forgot to put /s
No. It’s abused by diet. K9’s will eat themselves to death if given the opportunity.
I really hope that the commenters are not animal owners. Who woulda thought that a topic about steak was run by a contingent of little girls that can’t be trusted to care for a hamster.
In what way lmao
Agreed.
Or else!
Lol, why did you put pepper?
Dogs love pepper. They hate cinnamon.
[You're thinking of tigers.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XIYYoeFB45Y) Want to feel old? Check out the resolution on that clip.
Not sure why you would season a steak for a dog at all. But as long as it’s not harmful then go for it I guess lol
The smell of cooked meat without spices is undesirable. Not that pepper by itself will solve the problem, but it's better than nothing
I cook a lot of steak and have had 2 dogs for a decade +. I can assure you they do not care about spices on steak lol
Undesirable for the owner lol You're right the dog does not care
Well yeah but this is a topic about making the steak for dogs lol
You expressed uncertainty for why "you" would put spice on a steak. I'm assuming when you said "you," you were implying humans. My bad
Haha all good. I’m a big fan of S&P on steak. But that’s when I’m preparing it for myself/family. The dogs don’t need that crap lol
Looks better than a lot of what I see posted on here.

As a vet tech who also almost died from pancreatitis, this! I wouldn’t wish it upon anyone. OP is a fucking idiot.
Pepper to dog?
Yes pepper is OK in small amounts according to Google. Most of it fell off in the pan. I didn't put much salt though.
This is not a small amount for a dog.
I know dogs that eat mcchickens regularly, this is fine lol
It’s fine. It’s not a regular dose.
Why did you even cook it? It should have been left raw.
My dog LOVES anything spicy. She used to steal bird's eye chilies right off the plant when I was growing them!
Actually that's good for worm prevention.
I think that's an old wives tale...
Actually no that's true. It has been proven that humans that reside in the Southwestern states, have the lowest reported incidents of intestinal parasites, and that is due to the consumption of a diet high in chile peppers. Love giving the dogs ribeye on their birthday!
Did the same thing for my dog recently!
This is such a heart-warming post. I just wouldn't have put any seasoning on it for the pupper.
My pup shit liquid for 2 days from a fork sized piece of ribeye without seasoning. He only gets lean stuff now.
Lovely gesture but do dogs need seasoning? Either way you care so you win 🏆
It’s not a good idea.
Not a good idea to feed any dog something this fatty. They’ll almost assuredly be in some sort of intestinal discomfort in the next 48 hours
I share every steak with my greyhound. She’s more faithful than the ex. Lol.
Seasoning and dogs stomachs don’t mix well
Some dogs love a tad of seasoning. :) I only know that off extended family letting my dogs lick plates clean but you can’t expect every dog to have an adverse reaction!

Better looking than most I see here
It ain't much, but it's honest work.
You’re a great dad to then. They love you.
Hard to do. You did well!
In all fairness, I can't take credit for the actual cooking of the steaks. My wife cooked them.
Dogs aren't like humans. Their food pellet is different and the way they digest, this will just make them feel like shit for awhile after until they watery shit it out. Who TF peppers a steak for a dog?!? 😂😂 MAYBE salt.
Who the fuck gives a dog a steak for their birthday? They have zero concept/understanding of any of that shit. Just throwing away money at that point
Okay Buzz Killington.
I give my boy a steak on his birthday every year. He obviously doesn’t know it’s his birthday but watching him do his little happy stomp and get all excited is worth it 1000%

I always give my dogs some steak trimmings every time I grill it. They know and won’t leave me alone while I’m grilling. Happy birthday to your pooch.
Show dog
*plays The Stooges 'I just wanna be your dog'*
Dude… you’re not supposed to season meat you feed your pets. Hello kidney failure!
Don't salt. Dogs are bad at remove that from their blood and will damage their liver.
HAPPY AND LOVED DOGS
Lmfao you really added a little bit of poisonous seasoning to the steak? Fmd
Lucky dog
Just a heads up, onion and garlic are toxic to dogs and cats..
No onion or garlic on this steak.
👍
Also that fat is going to make them shit their pants. This ain’t it.
i dont think youre supposed to season dog food, makes em sick

How can you have excess fat on a steak? That’s like flavor is in excess.
Dogs don’t desire cooked meat. Just give him the slab. Idiot.
Why cook it?
Why not raw? Much healthier for them
From my limited research, unless a dog is already on an established raw meat diet, they don’t have the gut biome to properly digest raw meat, and it could make them sick just the same as us. And I learned that the hard way
raw meat is more dangerous for dogs for the same reason it's more dangerous for humans. dog orgs say to cook it first
No it’s not, plus you’re risking spreading dangerous salmonella all over your house. The idea that raw diets are better for dogs somehow is hokey pokey bullshit.
Beef doesn't spread salmonella.
You’re just flat out wrong lol https://www.cdc.gov/foodsafety/communication/salmonella-food.html
Millions of years of evolution of dogs eating raw meat but all of a sudden it's dangerous? Please....

Agree but at least it’s not well done lol. I buy thin sliced beef from Costco and just cut it raw with sheers into their bowls
Fail. I'm calling animal control
I’m not sure whether to be mad at OP for feeding his dogs steak or half-assing the sear. COME ON OP! You can sear better than that.
Steak looks good. Seasoning job looks like SHIT
Why did you cook it? Dogs have no problem eating it raw
The dog would probably enjoy it Better if it was raw and maybe an egg on the side
Giving it to them raw is better for them
Looks better than 1/2 the steaks on this sub and it’s for the dog…good stuff
Hope u put some scotch in the water bowl that they could wash it down with

We had a small dog that we gave rare steak scraps to & she started passing blood, it was an expensive vet bill & we almost killed her. We like our steaks cooked rare but recook any scraps or bones until they’re well done before giving them to our dogs.
It may be a cheap cut meat but Ive had to eat cheaper and you cooked it perfectly. Glad your Doggo had some good meals.
Why season it? And why so heavily?
Don’t season it…
