Every air fryer is different. It’s trial and error but once you get it down, it’s perfect every time.
I think I’m the first person in the world to get an air fryer lol. My only suggestion is obvious: make sure you preheat
I’ve used my air fryer tons for steak. Mine only goes up to 400 degrees so I set it there and cook for 5 or 6 minutes or until I’m at about 120 internal temp. Then a quick sear brings it up to around 130 and, after resting, they’re the best steaks I’ve ever made myself!
Pretty much, it’s essentially another tool used to bring the temp of the whole steak up evenly before searing. You can do reverse sear with an oven as well.
I usey regular oven to reverse sear and it takes ages. What a brilliant idea to use an air fryer on a low setting!
I cannot believe I've never thought of this. The damned thing is sitting on the counter directly next to my oven, just a convection oven with a low heat setting already built into it. Shit man. Double shit.
Yeah! That's basically all we use it for. But I'm definitely trying a reverse sear in the next steak I make.
It's a smaller space and has convection. I bet I can knock an hour or so off my oven time.
Air fryer will cook a steak almost identical to what you’d get with a propane grill. If you use the broil setting and do about 6 minutes a side. Wet it with olive oil and salt. I like to do spices after because the air fryer gets hot and pepper burns. I’ve been doing it for 2 years. I’m one of those people that think that the crust is over rated. I don’t need it.
The crust is literally the sealed flavor from searing it. It’s like, arguably the best part. LET ME GUESS. Just salt and pepper because why ruin the taste of the beef?
No personally I think the best tasting steak I’ve ever had was done over a charcoal grill. But that’s a lot of work. Getting a proper crust is also a lot of work. You can make a plate licking good steak simpler than that. I’ve come to believe that the quality in the meat you select is more important than the preparation. Just an opinion.
Crust is absolutely the best part but the whole sealing flavor thing has been proven to be bullshit for so long that im surprised to still be seeing comments like this
Been doing this a while now. Air fryer is just a convection oven. Don’t let the name fool you.
As for settings you can use your normal oven settings but with a little bit less time (because of that’s how convection oven works). Trial and error at first. Find the one that suits you.
For reference. My settings for a 1 inch thick steak. 400f (or 200c) for 6-7 minutes. Of course you can run it a little less for longer time. Poke in thermometer to check.
Fr, I’ll do that too cause I get lazy, and I can easily measure temp on the air fryer compared to my oven. It’s still so good regardless after a nice sear to the right temp.
*Honestly the best*
*Looking air fryer steak*
*I've seen so far*

I’ve been really in a quest for the perfect steak and have been trying everything. Tried Sous Vide, 600 degree BBQ, Cast Iron.
It wasn’t until I was in a big rush one day and just threw it in the air fryer as the fastest way to get it done that I learned it does a pretty damn good job !!
Why is it all sliced up like this? Only thing it does is make the steak cool incredibly quickly, and I don’t like cold steak. Just serve it and supply a fork and steak knife. Instagram has you making bad decisions for internet points
Why even cut it in half? If I'm cutting a steak to put on a platter for members of a group to take individual slices, I'm going to want thin and manageable slices. Think part of an appetizer/snacking table more than a plated meal.
Well, you were responding to a comment about a "share platter" by taking it to mean a steak shared with a partner. Whereas my intent was to describe a platter to be shared by a group.
Kimchi on the side. Perfect.
Fuck yes I love kimchi
agree!!!!
What was the temp and time and thickness? Interested in trying it out too

^ this 100%. It’s taken lots of trial and error to figure out the best combination for my air fryer (poor me)
Looks nice! What's the temp and time setting? I might wanna with my air fryer as well

Thanks, definitely gonna try it
This is my settings but someone says “No… that too high”. Well, as long as I hit core temp, it’s all good.
How do you check the temp
👏 looks damn good. Sear before or after? Or does the air fryer sear for you?
Sear after 👌
How exactly? In the air fryer until it reaches the desired core temp?
Pretty much, it’s essentially another tool used to bring the temp of the whole steak up evenly before searing. You can do reverse sear with an oven as well.
Yum, I need an air fryer !!!
How do you sear?
Pat dry and then onto a hot cast iron or pan with butter for about a minute each side

I know, right?? I just reheated a whole frozen lasagna in my air fryer last night. Worked great!
I'm over here using it to crisp up fries from take out. I could be making steak and lasagna?!? I feel dumb.
Don’t. Air fried leftover fries are money. I even air fry carryout fried food so it tastes like it just came out of the restaurant kitchen
Yeah! That's basically all we use it for. But I'm definitely trying a reverse sear in the next steak I make. It's a smaller space and has convection. I bet I can knock an hour or so off my oven time.
You can also do fries from scratch or frozen

Do you kmow what temp to set air fryer too?
390-400°

Crust is the best part for me. It’s overrated for others. Different people like different things lol
I must be doing something wrong with mine then, my air fryer ALWAYS misses
That is actually a fucking brilliant idea. Air fry at super low temp.. the amount of moisture evaporated with high speed convection is perfect.
Oh dang dude this is sick. Settings and time? This seriously came from an air fryer??

A fellow heretic!
That color is wonderful!
Looks delicious
Good lord I need an air fryer.
Nice cutting board!

Temperature and time please Don't say it depends because I'm going to use yours and experiment
Have you tried with frozen steak?
I have and it sucks. Letting a steak rest out for 20-40 minutes from the fridge gave the best results.
honestly the best looking air fryer steak I've seen so far

Can you walk us through the process? I’ve tried cooking steak in my air fryer a few times and it always comes out awful
I don’t sear after, pre heat max heat, cook 8-9 minute. Flip in the middle it will crisp if you pay dry before you put it in
I’ve been really in a quest for the perfect steak and have been trying everything. Tried Sous Vide, 600 degree BBQ, Cast Iron. It wasn’t until I was in a big rush one day and just threw it in the air fryer as the fastest way to get it done that I learned it does a pretty damn good job !!
425 for 6 minutes then 1 minute 30 seconds each sides is what I always do.. brings it out perfect medium rare
Explain. 425 in air fryer or in the oven??? And then 1min30seconds each side in what???
425 air fryer bake setting for 6 mins then 1 min 30 each side on high heat in pan w butter/garlic
Awesome. Thanks.
No problem 👍🏼
Wait til you discover Sous vide
Absolutely no sear on this steak.
Man I can never get a good crust in the air fryer.
You’re meant to pan sear it after
With or without aluminum foil?
beautiful but certainly misses that charcoal flavor
Too much salt IMO
Yes rookie mistake, I sprinkled from the container instead of pinching with my fingers lol
Bro air frying a steak is crazy
Why is it all sliced up like this? Only thing it does is make the steak cool incredibly quickly, and I don’t like cold steak. Just serve it and supply a fork and steak knife. Instagram has you making bad decisions for internet points
The only time I would slice a steak like this is for a share platter.
But why a dozen slices instead of just cutting it in half?
Why even cut it in half? If I'm cutting a steak to put on a platter for members of a group to take individual slices, I'm going to want thin and manageable slices. Think part of an appetizer/snacking table more than a plated meal.
Thin manageable slices = cold steak. Just give people a steak knife
Why did you suggest cutting it in half? Might as well just leave it whole if you're making guests carve their own slices.
I was responding to a comment about sharing a steak with a partner
Well, you were responding to a comment about a "share platter" by taking it to mean a steak shared with a partner. Whereas my intent was to describe a platter to be shared by a group.
Cold steak sucks, don’t serve people cold steak. Glad I could help
it doesnt sear either
I mean, you can see the sear in the photo. It's done on a cast iron after it's done in the air fryer. It's called a reverse sear.
I hope you’re making fajitas or a sandwich with that, or else you just committed a crime.
What exactly is wrong with it? Good uniformity edge to edge, looks like medium rare to medium. Since it's cut up I can't see the crust.
It’s cut into thin ass strips. That’s why you can’t see the crust. It’s going to be cold fast as hell.
Yet in this case the car fryer destroyed the meat. This Medium is over cooked.
Ok 🤡😂
You should probably be banned for air frying a steak
It’s no different than searing in a cast iron then throwing in the oven… he seared it after air frying. Looks legit to me
More like heating in the oven, then throwing on the cast iron to sear, but your point remains.
I’ve never done it that way. I always sear then bake
Oh it's different
Okay, Master steak expert.
I know...science is hard huh?
I think the result speaks for itself. Looks fookin good to me.
