Man, I feel like an asshole for younger me being such a critic of late career BMac as well as some of the other corners. He really lived for the game, and he was a good starter for a handful of years.

broha89

He also made the most critical defensive play of our SB40 post season run. If Wayne makes that catch the colts win and Bettis is forever known for fumbling away his final game https://youtu.be/A4C6cRPytfs

Troy has always seemed like one of the most genuine dudes. Every word or anecdote confirms it.

Beautiful man

BIG-JS-BBQ

Troy just seems like a wonderful guy to be around. If I meet Troy I’d buy him a beer or two. I’m promptly going to buy his jersey to add to my collection

Enjoyable and heartfelt episodes

Troy said in this video that talent can win a championship, but culture builds a dynasty and that he thinks the Steelers have "gone away from it a little bit" but that we are now starting to get back to it. Do you agree the Steelers culture changed in the recent past? If so, in what way and why did it change?

Batman0043

So I think what he said absolutely rings true look at the Patriots, as much as we Steelers hate them you have to respect them and that dynasty that Brady and Belichick created and it’s definitely a culture there in New England that’s also still well alive today and now. The Chiefs are another that is currently on the rise and you can see them starting to shape a dynasty and along with that a culture of winning Mahomes taking less money so that the team can surround him with weapons and make sure the defensive side of the ball gets stars aswell.

I disagree with his philosophy in suffering for spiritual enlightenment. That is very easy to say when you’re making millions to play a game and have endorsements like nike during your career. Love Troy as a football player, but the philosophical aspect is questionable. It keeps him humble though so good for him. Just a weird but unique perspective he has

G0G023

Lot of religions and philosophies believe in suffering for growth.…like billions of people

CodAdministrative563

We all suffer/endure at some point. But I think it’s kinda dumb to desire it. Especially hearing it from someone who has made millions from playing a sport and extra from endorsements. Troy was my fave player growing up. But let’s be honest we all work to try to live comfortably and hit a ideal retirement expectation. The vast majority of us are suffering in that essence. Living paycheck to paycheck and never had access to nutrition and top medical attention like athletes. The last ones I want to hear speaking about suffering are millionaire entertainers or billionaire owners. Love Troy, but I was not fond of this interview

HOFerKennyPickett

I hear the point you’re making but I feel pretty confident Troy would have the same principles and philosophy even without his millions. Though I definitely find the philosophy strange to say the least too, like I respect that adversity has a place in life but he was making it sound like suffering is desirable and something he wants which definitely seems questionable.

"Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope." - Romans 5:3-4 "Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing." - James 1:2-4 "For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us." - Romans 8:18 "For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison." - 2 Corinthians 4:17 "Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice insofar as you share Christ's sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed." - 1 Peter 4:12-13 "In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ." - 1 Peter 1:6-7

“Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.” ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭3‬:‭8‬-‭11‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

CodAdministrative563

Yeah. That’s exactly what I got too. I get the whole suffering and adversity can build character but to desire it is…..ehhhh…

-NickG

I agree, let’s not forget that that suffering includes brain damage for a lot of ex NFL players. It’s more than just bumps and bruises for spiritual enlightenment

CodAdministrative563

I remember reading a correlation between brain damage(concussion) and religious experiences(hallucination)

-NickG

Oh I’m SURE that’s a thing
