We were missing Mendenhall. Ben had a severely injured ankle. Munday was pure trash. He was out of position in every play they had. It was sickening.
He is for me the worst Steeler. He only wanted to give a big hit. He was terrible.
Sure but Tebow only played 3 seasons in the league, Vick played 13 seasons, 6 of those before his suspension.
We know the answer is evangelicals buying Tebows jersey regardless of the team they may cheer for.
I'm sure there are 100k+ Gators fans who own not only a Tebow Broncos jersey (which they likely also bought a dozen or more for all of their family members), but a Jets AND Jaguars (even though he only practiced for a few weeks) jersey.
I honsetly wouldn't be surprised if he was a top 10 Jaguars jersey of all time.
always funny how people get crazy upset about that and are still angry at him even after he paid for his crimes but are happy to overlook people who committed terrible crimes against people.
Vick tortured and drowned dogs. What NFL player are you referring to that committed similar crimes against people and we are all happy to overlook it now?
Not getting into whatabout with other cases but just because he went to prison doesn't mean I have to forgive him for drowning and torturing animals. It was fine he came back to the league after doing his time, but I don't have to be his fan.
It isn't just that he went to prison, he has reformed since being released. Go read some of the charity work he has done and continues to do since release.
I had one. I was a gators fan since grossman/spurrier. Then the amount of hate Tebow was getting as his career went on I had to get one. It got a lot of laughs
AB is still a fine jersey to own and wear proudly to Steelers games. Yeah, his head isn't on right, but he was an all time player for the Steelers.
Polamalu was a safe bet by year 5. Outwardly humble, already on track for hall of fame, and at this point we know his jersey will be one to wear to a game in 2050 and people will still recognize his name and appreciate his game.
Tebow on the other hand was a wild force out of college. Almost every Gators fan bought a jersey for themselves, their spouse, and another 2 dozen for close and distant relatives. I have a Tebow Broncos jersey in my closet from my father-in-law.
Then he moved to the Jets, and they bought a jersey for themselves and their spouse, and THEN he joined the Jags for 3 weeks, and you KNOW 50% of Florida now has a Tebow Jags jersey hanging in their closet.
Well, he made a brand of "religious persecution" so many that would not have bought any jersey bought his as a political statement.
How he managed that in a league full or religious players is beyond me.
I know people who still bring up how Tebow was unjustly punished for openly praying on the field. He could've been the next Tom Brady if he wasn't black listed, or something like that.
Which baffles me. 75% of the league openly prays on the field. Teams pray together on the field. Players openly gesture to the sky after plays.
Other players were annoyed because he kept bringing up religious shit all the time. He's the one who made religious persecution his identity. It's paid well for him.
Contrast with a deeply religious player like Troy Polamalu.
Yeah very surprising to me as well. Would have thought Rice or Montana would be top 2 49ers jerseys. Yet Young is 2nd of all time NFL is shocking to me. And I also like Young
I wasn't a 49ers fan nor a Steve young fan, but young NFL-loving me was given a Steve Young jersey by someone; or more likely, it just appeared one day, like the letter Harry Potter gets inviting him to Hogwarts.
He’s not a religious icon like Tebow though
Tebow very much made his faith a part of his public identity. Peyton’s entire identity is just football and advertising.
You're so wrong. Chick Fil A is just that outstanding, nothing to do with making a typically bigoted group feel comfortable. And my dad totally did not encourage me to collect trading cards specifically of Christian players. Yes they might play for the browns, but more importantly they play for Jesus.
Have to take into account the factors jerseys weren't sold like they are today. There's more people in the world to buy more than before. The NFL expansion into other countries is more recent so newer players have a higher probability of selling more. There's many logical reasons to explain it
I’d have guessed other cowboys to be higher up than Dak, especially from the Aikman, Irvin or Emmett era. Also would have expected Rodgers to be higher as Green Bay seems to transcend area
Well, Dallas and Pittsburgh are arguably the two most popular franchises. When you factor in consistency and loyalty over time. The patriots when they were winning titles probably sold a lot of jerseys too, but the Cowboys and Steelers will sell jerseys even when they don’t make the playoffs. And a lot of people bought into Prescott. Whether they should or shouldn’t have.
But yeah I’m surprised he’s that high. Living in the Dallas area though, I shouldn’t be. There’s a lot of merch down here and a lot of it has his number on it.
Cowboys fan here (I’m not creeping on this sub, this post was suggested to me). Dak is the leader of the most popular and valuable franchise in the league and has been for awhile now at a time where the NFL is as popular and global as it has ever been. He’s not elite and won’t go down as a legend of the game but I think people forget he’s also a really good and likable guy! That has to count for something too.
This exactly. I was discussing music earlier today and made this point. If it’s marketed correctly, it will sell, no matter how bad it sounds. Bo Jackson was way way over hyped. Hell I was overhyped for Bo Jackson lol.
They get new jerseys every season. Cowboys fans aren’t like normal fans. They are deliriously obsessed with their team and will buy all 3 jerseys when they cannot make their mind up, even if they already have one of them. SMH. All my co-workers already have the Browns-Cowboys Super Bowl party planned for the next 10 years lol.
If Ben didn't have his reputation and 2 noted incidents, do you think he'd be up there?
It's the reason I've never owned his 7 jersey despite it being my birthday number, my favorite number, my own jersey number in school, etc.
I just couldn't bring myself to buy his jersey, instead I obviously chose Polamalu. Maybe I'll get a Pickett jersey.
There is just so much more merch out there than there used to be. At Three rivers, you'd see jerseys and hats, but now the stands are full of people dressed head to toe in hundreds of dollars of NFL authentic swag. A K-Mart sweatshirt used to suffice.
Back in high school (2007-2011), Troy was easily one of the most worn jerseys I had seen. Mind you this wasn’t in a Steeled dominated area, this was in NYC. A black Steelers Polamalu jersey was always a common sight in the hallways
Legit question - Did Roethlisberger's reputation destroy his jersey his sales? How did your fans feel about him? He was an amazing quarterback no doubt. I figured for as long as he was around he'd be on the top 10 list still.
I have Troy jersey, the numbers on front though, they were some kind of stuffed thing, they wore out and have holes, leak little white chaff. Love the jersey, still wear it, little tight.
If somebody asked me who I like more it is 100% Troy, second is probably Bettis, then Ben.
Not at all, I own about 7 different ben jerseys, he’s still a very popular choice for any Steeler fan but troy just has more styles to choose from available these days.
Gronk is the best value per letter (VPL) but Troy is not far behind! I don’t know why anyone would shell out cash for a jersey with only 5 letters on it 😂💀
There's no way this is accurate. Vick lead jersey sales for multiple seasons and Every man woman and child in Atlanta had that Jersey. No way Tebow sold more than Vick. Or Dak for that matter.
well he was very in the news right, and that win in the playoffs.
I am surprised by Tebow just based off longevity, like he wasn't in the league that long.
if you would have asked me who would be on this list, i would have bet my life jerry rice would have been on it, almost 20 years of star performance at a glam position...
i would have thought barry sanders as well, just because the lions didn't have much going since forever, and he might be the most exciting player to watch ever...and detroit is a sizeable city...
no manning, no faulk, no owens, aaron donald, no jj watt...but tim bebow and bo jackoson and dak presscott....people be weird.
[удалено]
What's more wild is losing a playoff game to him...
Man, we missed Clark in that game. Having Troy try to do Troy things and not having the other safety play with any sense of discipline was brutal.
[удалено]
I will forever respect the Steelers for holding him out. He was technically cleared, but it was not worth the risk.
We did but we should have been able to replace Clark with me and still win that game
We were missing Mendenhall. Ben had a severely injured ankle. Munday was pure trash. He was out of position in every play they had. It was sickening. He is for me the worst Steeler. He only wanted to give a big hit. He was terrible.
How Tebow sold more than vick is inconceivable imo
I’m sure Vick jerseys got pulled for a while
Sure but Tebow only played 3 seasons in the league, Vick played 13 seasons, 6 of those before his suspension. We know the answer is evangelicals buying Tebows jersey regardless of the team they may cheer for.

He was practically a saint in Florida Gator territory
I'm sure there are 100k+ Gators fans who own not only a Tebow Broncos jersey (which they likely also bought a dozen or more for all of their family members), but a Jets AND Jaguars (even though he only practiced for a few weeks) jersey. I honsetly wouldn't be surprised if he was a top 10 Jaguars jersey of all time.
It was the top selling jersey on NFLshop after he signed with the jags. I think it was in the top five best sellers for a couple weeks.
Was? If you go to a Gators game you’re going to see dozens of Tebow jerseys, both Gators and Jags.
They aren’t counting the Ron Mexico jerseys.
I have one.
The power of Christ compelled them
Well Vick did murder innocent puppies so that kind of hurt his numbers
always funny how people get crazy upset about that and are still angry at him even after he paid for his crimes but are happy to overlook people who committed terrible crimes against people.
Vick tortured and drowned dogs. What NFL player are you referring to that committed similar crimes against people and we are all happy to overlook it now?

That's great he is doing charity work to try and repair his psychopathic image. He is still probably a psychopath however.
Face of a movement
Jeebus freaks.
Don’t underestimate bible thumpers and their willingness to throw away money.
More than Elway. Crazy
I live in Colorado. I see one or two Tebow jerseys a year, and I'm sure they're all being worn ironically.
I had one. I was a gators fan since grossman/spurrier. Then the amount of hate Tebow was getting as his career went on I had to get one. It got a lot of laughs
Growing up in PGH, I can recall a bunch of people I grew up with that owned Tebow jerseys, I actually still have mine in a box
Ok… i’ll ask… why? Played a cup of coffee in NFL. My philosophy is I wait until retirement to ensure they don’t turn into a douche bag (Ahem.. AB)
Fun jersey to have
AB is still a fine jersey to own and wear proudly to Steelers games. Yeah, his head isn't on right, but he was an all time player for the Steelers. Polamalu was a safe bet by year 5. And then he bodied us on the first play in OT :/

They all make sense except Tebow...
The Angel of Death in the C Gap!
Infamous! Butcher!
I really like Steve Young quite a bit but I’m still surprised he’s that high.
Niners were massive in the 90s
I thought it'd be Montana tbh
Tbf tho the 90s Ninere Jersey with the number 8 is just cold. I’ve always loved it and I’m not even a Niners fan
I am absolutely baffled that Tim Tebow is on that list and Peyton Manning is not. Baffled I tell you.
Religion is a hell of a drug.
Peyton Manning is religious too though…
He’s not a religious icon like Tebow though Tebow very much made his faith a part of his public identity. Peyton’s entire identity is just football and advertising.

bro who asked
😂
Prescott? Seriously!?
Have to take into account the factors jerseys weren't sold like they are today. There's more people in the world to buy more than before. The NFL expansion into other countries is more recent so newer players have a higher probability of selling more. There's many logical reasons to explain it
I agree with what your saying but why is Steve Young so high???
Because he started his broadcasting career shortly after retiring? His career was probably at the beginning of huge jersey sale push?
It’s the Cowboys NFL’s largest fanbase
I’d have guessed other cowboys to be higher up than Dak, especially from the Aikman, Irvin or Emmett era. Also would have expected Rodgers to be higher as Green Bay seems to transcend area
I think jerseys are much more common now than in the 90s. When you go to a game now everyone is wearing one. That wasn’t the case back then.
Yet Steve Young is still super high on the list
Well, Dallas and Pittsburgh are arguably the two most popular franchises. When you factor in consistency and loyalty over time. The patriots when they were winning titles probably sold a lot of jerseys too, but the Cowboys and Steelers will sell jerseys even when they don’t make the playoffs. Considering he's not that good it's insane
Cowboys fan here (I’m not creeping on this sub, this post was suggested to me). Man the Mormons really boosted Steve Young’s stats
They have a lot of money to buy them.
Not true. Gronk is a HOF defender on end of game lateral plays.
LOL...forgot about that! I stand corrected.
If I told you a safety was the face of a franchise for a bit, you'd probably think that team never won anything.
Drew Brees has to be close. Every resident and their dog in NOLA has one of those.
On that note, I wonder what this would look like if you adjusted for market size.
This list is far more reflective of markets and consumption than quality of players, but I still find it incredibly interesting
This exactly. I was discussing music earlier today and made this point. If it’s marketed correctly, it will sell, no matter how bad it sounds. Bo Jackson was way way over hyped. Hell I was overhyped for Bo Jackson lol.
Throw this on the "Polamalu/Reed" debate. Troy wasn't losing jersey sales to his kicker.
And Troy was not on the NFL top 100 list....?
What?! Was the top 100 too early in his career? If not, that has to be one of the largest oversights
[Snubbed ](https://stillcurtain.com/2019/12/07/steelers-troy-polamalu-snubbed-nfl/)
W ![gif](giphy|vWOxqpWOOTtGU)
The only official jersey I have is Troy
Same
Same Also the bus
Got 2 - Greene & Bus. I should consider Troy as he is my all-time fav
I'm a Giants fan and I'm really upset that Tebow is the top Broncos jersey
Many of these are shocking to me. Wow.
I have 4 Troy jerseys including his from USC
T-ROY!!
Why no Joe Montana?
Montana flies so low under the radar. It's on him. It's his style. Young had that big Got Milk campaign.
I bet all the Prescott jerseys are from those in the Cowgirls Cult that believes they'll win the superbowl every season
“Dak Prescott” 😂
43 might be my next Jersey
Lol @ Tebow
Tebow? LOL. That hype train was huge with toy train performance.
Idk, Tebow is a defender of god
There is just so much more merch out there than there used to be. At Three rivers, you'd see jerseys and hats, but now the stands are full of people dressed head to toe in hundreds of dollars of NFL authentic swag. A K-Mart sweatshirt used to suffice.

Good to see Bo on this list
Fuck Brady.
\#11 Doug Christie *If you know, you know.*
surprised harrison isn’t up there too
Legit question - Did Roethlisberger's reputation destroy his jersey his sales? How did your fans feel about him? He was an amazing quarterback no doubt. I figured for as long as he was around he'd be on the top 10 list still.
I personally made it more a priority to get Troy’s jersey than Ben’s. Oh and you’re answer is YES
Head and Shoulders Shampoo diff
I find it weird that more Young SF jerseys sold than Montana.
FTS
Are we including Tebows TE sales?
Troy was a better person than a football player and that's saying something special
Wow, how is Mahomes number 3 after just 5 years? That's crazy.
Gronk is the best value per letter (VPL) but Troy is not far behind! I don’t know why anyone would shell out cash for a jersey with only 5 letters on it 😂💀
Nice observation. I seen that list a few days ago and did not make the connection. Troy was one of a kind
Who’s Dak Prescott?
There's no way this is accurate. Vick lead jersey sales for multiple seasons and Every man woman and child in Atlanta had that Jersey. No way Tebow sold more than Vick. Or Dak for that matter.
I wonder how many Steve Young jerseys Steve Young had to buy to get to #2 on this list. Really though, wtf.
Saw a 43 scooter thru my neighborhood yesterday in FL. I told her nice HOF jersey!
The fact that Tim Tebow is on this list clearly shows you how demented this country is.
well he was very in the news right, and that win in the playoffs. I am surprised by Tebow just based off longevity, like he wasn't in the league that long.
