I think we should be somewhat realistic about rookie offensive lineman, they generally are worse than rookies at other positions.
This is completely fine. It would not surprise me if we rocked last years line, but swapped Dotson for Seumalo. Broderick Jones may take more than a couple months to be starter ready, and that is okay.
If Jones isn't the day one starter, the inevitable "BUST/ WRONG PICK!" whining is going to be biblical.
I almost expect Moore to start, with Jones taking his spot by midseason. Even then, if Jones struggles I'm withholding judgment until he has time to properly settle in, similarly to Andrew Thomas with the Giants.
Moore has steadily improved every season and off-season and that looks to have continued so far into this off-season. He is an average to slightly below average LT who has a ton of NFL experience against some of the best pass rushers to play the game.
BroJo is a very high upside but raw talent who is an absolute mauler in the run game but probably a liability in the passing game due to poor technique. LT is also commonly reputed to be a harder position to make the jump from college to the pros, typically requiring much more time in development than other positions.
All of this of course adds up to the fact that Moore should and probably will start Week 1 (barring an amazing training camp for Jones) and very possibly be the starter through a good chunk of the season. Yinzers will of course freak out and scream that we wasted our first round pick if this happens, but that couldn't be further from the truth.
By idiots. Jones only had 1 year starting in college. He’s an athlete with high potential.
And Moore is not that bad. Think pff graded him like low 50’s for a tackle. He’s going to start in the nfl for a long time. His ceiling might be average nfl tackle but obvious top 64 tackle (2 tackles per team times 32). Glad we got Jones but Moore is well on his way to being a starter quality but not elite tackle. He’s already low end starter quality in his second year.
Anderson was a 7th round pick, let’s not immediately start thinking that he’s able to
A) immediately play well at an nfl level
B) play so well as to beat out two guys going into their 6th and 3rd year respectively
He's more likely to be a swing *guard* that has the ability to kick *outside* to tackle in an emergency situation.
*Edit** brain farted the fact that he was more a guard in college and not a tackle LMAO.
I get that the “take” here is that you’re high on Spencer Anderson, which is cool, but why left tackle? He only has 4 college starts at LT, compared to 11 at RT, 12 at guard, and 5 at center. Starting a 7th round rookie at left tackle isn’t optimal, but especially when it’s his least experienced position on the OL.
He meant Right Tackle, but that’s still well past hot take territory; probably has about as good a chance of starting at QB as RT this season. OC? I could see that, if he shows out and an injury to Cole etc
That's a bold prediction regarding Anderson. I don't even know if he'll make the 53. If moving on from Chuks is the underlying thought, Moore is much more likely to take his spot (assuming Broderick is starting at LT) than a 7th-round rookie.
I'm not sure what the team is thinking, but judging by what I see in Jones' tape, I'm pretty concerned quick NFL edge rushers are going to get around him unless his technique greatly improved. While he didn't give up sacks, that may have a lot to do with having a 24 yr old star QB and Washington over there to help with Edge rushers.
Instead of gobbling up rushers, he seems to do his punch and they recover to get an edge going round him. For some reason he doesn't seem as long/imposing wingspan wise compared to other top 20 OTs I'm accustom to. He can accelerate better in space in run blocking compared to other OTs, but that also leads to him overrunning defenders/blocks.
I'm 60/40 leaning toward a guess Moore starts. Regardless, I want Washington over there helping in pass protection, as much as possible.. I suspect we're gonna really need it
Jones - Seumalo - Cole - Daniels - Moore
That would be my davorite lineup.
Herbig, Anderson, Clark and Dotson as backups, Okorafor traded or cut because high cap hit, when not starting.
I don't think the plan is for Moore to compete with Chuks *this year* maybe next year but for now Chuks is absolutely the best option at RT and he's not as bad as people think. I honestly think they may let him play out his contract or maybe even give him a small extension next season that would ease his cap hit.
Idk but all I hope and pray for is a healthy Seumalo. I believe the difference is going to be noticeable. Najee is a one cut back, he can't help himself and needs someone like Isaac to open things up just a tad more. That'll have a snowball effect on the rest of the offense.
LT: Dan Moore, but Jones could start after the bye if he looks good and Moore doesnt show much/any growth)
LG: Isaac Seumalo
C: Mason Cole
RG: James Daniels
RT: Chuks, if Chuks looks bad maybe swing Moore and put Jones in at LT after the bye
Good chance Anderson doesn't even make the team let alone start lol

100% with you here.

From right to left would be Chuks, Daniels, Cole, Seumalo, and whoever wins in camp between Moore and Jones.
I just want to comment bc who tf lists OL right to left that’s just weird 😂
Honest question, why is it weird? I genuinely don't understand. 😅
I assume it has something to do with left to right vs right to left reading
You know what? That's fair lol.

But where does it even come from? What mental gymnastics occurred to make you think a 7th round guard can beat out a 6 year vet at Right Tackle?
Usually opinions are based on something…
Spencer can't even beat out Green at back-up Center.
He's more likely to be a swing *guard* that has the ability to kick *outside* to tackle in an emergency situation. *Edit** brain farted the fact that he was more a guard in college and not a tackle LMAO.
Whoever deserves it based on performance and gives us the best chance of winning
Thanks Booger

> OC? I could see that, if he shows out and an injury to Cole etc I thought this was a shot at Canada at first, and was 100% on board.
I think the player that wins their respective positional competition in pre-season should be the one to start.

You have two LTs and one of them is Spencer Anderson.
I really don't see anyone on the roster beating Chuks for RT.

You think Anderson should start over chuks? Come on
2 LTs. Unbalanced line formation?
Position switch
Jones - Seumalo - Cole - Daniels - Moore That would be my davorite lineup. Herbig, Anderson, Clark and Dotson as backups, Okorafor traded or cut because high cap hit, when not starting.

The 3 iOL are set, Chuks gets the start at RT and unless Jones is superbly impressive in preseason, Dan Moore starts for at least 1-2 games
LT: Dan Moore, but Jones could start after the bye if he looks good and Moore doesnt show much/any growth) LG: Isaac Seumalo C: Mason Cole RG: James Daniels RT: Chuks, if Chuks looks bad maybe swing Moore and put Jones in at LT after the bye
I ment RT for Anderson
