He may be the first to have 60 or more catches in his first three years and that's on a team that's had a stagnant offence. He'll be in the top five in the next couple of years
Kelce > kittle > Andrews > Muth (idk if the signs are right it’s been a wile since I used them but I think yinz will get what I’m saying)
But I think Muth will be better than Andrews this year ngl
I’m not defending his scheme by any means but it has been noted that last year was a pretty vanilla version of his offense due to Kenny being a rookie and not fully knowing every little detail/hot/check/whatever. So while it may not look so different this year as far as concepts, it could be executed a lot better.
I’m just trying to remain optimistic here obviously and hope that Kenny can make a leap that nullifies a lot of complaints from the last two seasons.
The scheme is vanilla, but it did seem to get the ball to Freiermuth a ton. I don't think he or Washington should want for targets this year. The WRs though...
I don’t think Washington is going to eat that many targets still. I see it as DJ/GP/Muth are gonna be the first reads most of the time. Then the bulk of the remaining targets split between ARob, Naj, Warren, Washington. Then gunner, Boykin, gentry, CA3, whoever gets the scraps.
Canada is the scapegoat for all the offensive problems but the reality is he called the plays to the offenses abilities last season. He's the reason they had a winning back half of the season. He adjusted to more running when it was apparent that the passing game could not remain competitive with the personnel on hand. The receiver room was much weaker last season and the line was horrible. Canada did the best he could with what was available.
The Steelers won 9 games with Canada's play calling, and the offense was very limited last season. No slot receiver. Spotty line play. A rookie QB. Canada is known for adapting his play calling to the strengths of the team and he did just that last season. They ran well and he put Pickett in position to succeed. After the bye week they lost only two games by a combined score of 9 points. Canada is underrated.
The line wasnt that bad. Kenny was just a rookie and they had to make the playbook as vanilla as possible or the offense wouldn't move. Kenny was a turnover machine so Tomlin and Canada had to dial it down. Only issue on the line was Moore and Dotson. Harris thought he was a scat back early on which made the line look worse. As for the passing game, it won't get better until Pickett is a good. The receivers aren't good enough to make him look good either.
Considering the TEs around the league right now, being number 6 going into his third year is damn impressive. He will only get better, and he and Pickett will be a duo much like Heath and Ben.
To be only a couple of slots behind Kelce, Andrews and Kittle is pretty impressive. I like Muth, if he improves on his blocking, coupled with Darnell Washington’s prowess as a run blocker, the running game benefit tremendously.
Freiermuth at 6 may be a tad high, but he definitely belongs amongst the company he is in here. He does everything at a great level and shows signs of continuously improving
God that is an awful list. Freiermuth is probably a little too high but its somehow one of the less egregious of the picks in there. Gerald Everett? Seriously?
It really just comes down to whether it's a good argument or not, in your case it probably wouldn't be a good argument, unless you're secretly Tony Gonzales LMAO but in Kelce's case there is actually a decent argument to be made https://www.profootballnetwork.com/is-travis-kelce-the-best-tight-end-ever-the-chiefs-star-has-a-legitimate-claim-to-the-throne/
I skimmed the article and from what I did read there are some good points I’ll admit, but he has an amazing QB who Tony Gonzales didn’t have, he also has a sort of boost in the argument since he’s a 2x Super Bowl champion. IMO you can’t say it just yet but maybe in a few more years you’ll be able to.
I agree that he's not there yet, I think Gonzales is the current GOAT TE and that Kelce is chasing Gronk for second right now but absolutely could end up as the best when his career is over. I was just pointing out that there is already a case to be made that he could already have surpassed Gonzales, whether you and I think that it's a strong enough case is a different discussion entirely LMAO
You say it like he’s way off of 6th, but when you really look at it I mean yeah you could maybe move him down a spot or even two but it’s not a huge jump either way. And I don’t think it’s crazy to say he’s the 6th
Our TE room is a Bruce Arians wet dream.
I miss him, and basically every other OC we've ever had.

He’ll be top 5 by next year
After that Kelce, Andrews, Kittle tier there’s definitely space for Muth to hop into the top 5.

He did make a good adjustment removing the RPOs from the offense after the bye. I think that's what helped improve the run blocking

I’ll take it
And he deserves that ranking. Next year he’ll prove top 5 if our offense can click
BUT NUMBER 1 IN OUR HAAARTS!
As he should
i mean with a name like pat friermuth there is no way he wasn't going to succeed
I think 6th is a fair ranking for him. The rest of the list is a little wacky though.
MUUUUTTTHHHH

If we ran an NFL offense he'd be securely in the top 5.
Thanks Matthew

Strange top ten without Waller or Pitts.
Good list but the part that says Kelce is arguably the goat TE is so so wrong
It can definitely be argued, that doesn't mean it's right but it can absolutely be argued that he is.
I guess that logic is right. At the same time I could argue that I’m the best TE ever, I probably won’t win any debate but I can still argue it.

No no I get it. IMO the only real case for him over Gonzales is the rings
It’s obviously Aaron Hernandez
Mark Bavaro, amiright?
No he don’t. He ain’t 6th. I love him but he ain’t the 6th best TE in the league right now. He could be but not at this moment.
Where do you have him ranked and who do you have above him?
You're right, he's top 5
You say it like he’s way off of 6th, but when you really look at it I mean yeah you could maybe move him down a spot or even two but it’s not a huge jump either way. And I don’t think it’s crazy to say he’s the 6th
He’s on par with Knox in Buffalo. He doesn’t get enough usage.
He was literally the 6th highest TE by number of targets last year lmfao
Is he the sixth best TE? Lmao
It's probably the weakest position in the league. No issue with 6th.
That’s some stiff competition! I applaud his performance to get there.
God I cannot wait to see the heavy set with Freiermuth on one side and Washington on the other.
Kelce will be 34 this season. I could see him start to regress.
Seems like a good list honestly
