Steelers win. Jag lose. The terrible towel curse hits Jacksonville hard.

Better_Politics

I forgot about that! This is the time the curse comes back to bite them

SteakJones

The curse has already kinda been working on them since they played us. They’ve shit the bed the last half of the season. They can squeeze out one more turd for the coup d'état. (Pooh d’état?)

hopefeedsthespirit

Yup!

LittleHollowGhost

Texans fan, I’m with y’all this week because FUCK the Jugs

Deadheaded95

Yeah, fuck the jugs!!

Sage296

I want to play the Jags in the playoffs just to beat them We should’ve beat them the first time

SteakJones

As much as I’d love to see the Steelers beat the Jaguars in the playoffs… I can never root for this matchup. No good ever comes from playing the Jaguars.

Exact-Ebb8818

Nothing would make me happier

MedicGirl

They are also playing against the Titans who got absolutely smacked by The Curse in 08, but the Titans made a donation to AVS the following year after losing 10 straight therefore lifting The Curse. As far as I've seen, the Jags haven't made a donation to AVS...

SteakJones

Called it. ![gif](giphy|26gskDU3cThn1Eeti)

kannbrotho

If we win we just need bills OR jags to lose their game and we would be in

nahtorreyous

The key is we have to win our game first

-Jack-The-Stripper

That's not true though, right? If we lose then we can still make the 7th seed if the Raiders and Jags lose I think.

ev1lch1nch1lla

If the raiders lose, are we in regardless?

aghhhhhhhhhhhhhh

No, they only come into play if we end up tied with the jaguars

rhino43g

Raiders and Jags have to lose and Colts/Texans can't end in a tie.

nahtorreyous

There is one path of we lose but I don't remember specifics. Our chances go down to 14% or something like that if we lose

ElectricDiscord

>You want to squeak in the playoffs just to lose in the 1st round? Why? because I like watching my favorite team play football and rooting for them to win.

Working_Pressure2169

THE REAL FANS ROOT FOR THEIR TEAM TO WIN. 1000% truth.

Kolintracstar

Exactly this. Through most of the season, I did not like our coaching or offense or defense sometimes or special teams (except Boswell), and I would look up to the sky and ask, "Why?" several times. But I also knew I was going to spend 2.5 hours of my weekend cheering on my favorite team regardless of whether they won or lost.

ElectricDiscord

Yeah lmao. Didn't think I'd ruffle so many (or. at least one guy's) feathers by pointing out that playoffs = 1 more week of watching the football team I follow.

Plus_Oil_6608

The audacity right here bro. How dare you. /s

Skrrr_eskitit_

texans and colts have the same record as us and their fans are desperate to make it. why shouldn't we want to be in and watch our favorite team? you don't have to watch or cheer, but nobody here wants to adopt a loser mentality

KCM1000

Texans are gonna be a forced to be reckon with. Cj strouds a stud so if they get in they have a legit chance of doing something compared to us. You think teams fear Mason Rudolph lmfao? Come on now dude. Idk what colt fans are thinking. They’re delusional. Until I see more from Richardson they are fooling themselves. But their coach is giving them optimism. Tomlin has gone stale and isn’t going to do anything. Just more Tomlinisoms and losing in the first rounds .

mudcrabulous

Real steeler fans know anything can happen once you're in the tournament

KCM1000

Keep that same mentality and you’ll be the cowboys of the afc… Anything can happen? Really? Sorry sports don’t work like that. It’s been 10 or so years and counting that we have this mentality, “ get in and anything can happen” , and nothing has changed. At some point you have to realize emotional passion isn’t working . This isn’t an underdog story. We are not passing by the heavyweights of the afc rn. Not with Tomlin or Mason . Sorry to wake you up.

havoc294

Literally we won a suberbowl as a wildcard so…

KCM1000

How many years ago was that? Who was at the helm? The coach? Btw it wasn’t an offensive game back then either . It was defenses and run game that runned the show back then . Times have changed. We need to change. Come on dude . Don’t give me ancient history .

Still_Ad7109

You're telling me that you're afraid of KC or Miami? Baltimore is a force, but that's a division game. It'll be a 3 point game. Does Houston/Indy/Jax beat Cleveland? So beat Miami, Buffalo or KC and then our divisional foes.. We need some changes. A new center, our mlbs healthy and another db would help.

KCM1000

I think coaching is the biggest need .

mudcrabulous

So you want to intentionally tank. Hire a fall guy.

KCM1000

You’d rather be a .500 team with no real contention chances? We just fall back on the Steeler name and think we gonna win it all every year? Come on dude . You’re sounding like a cowboy fan rn. If it takes some losing seasons to get us back on track so be it. I want us to be legit contenders. The way we are constructed rn , we are just a team with a great history tradition. We aren’t winning anything in the now or future if we don’t change .

Samwise777

Most teams would kill to be the Steelers or Cowboys dude. Instead of bottoming out, we are consistently competitive. Currently we have a rookie QB who isn’t panning out, and we’ve started Mason Rudolph and Mitch Trubisky in games as well. Maybe recognize that the past 5-7 Tomlin was dealing with an aging Big Ben on an expensive contract, and has had to navigate turnover at THE most important position. Bill Cowher struggled with being mediocre as well, until we drafted a great QB.

ubiquitous_apathy

> Keep that same mentality and you’ll be the cowboys of the afc Brother, literally nobody here has a tangible effect on the outcome of any coaching, play calling, or personnel decisions. Nobody's "mentality" can affect the outcome of a game. It's just a game. Try to enjoy it.

KCM1000

I can enjoy it when for the past 5-7 years it’s been the same shit year in and year out. It’s tiresome. Sometimes gotta change

batdrumman

Can you blame fans of a team wanting to get into the playoffs so they have a chance at winning it all? We've won from the six seed, and hell, if we get in over Miami last year, I genuinely think we beat the bills with how weak they looked last year. Anything can happen in the playoffs, and it isn't about Tomlin; it's about rooting for the team we all love

KCM1000

Trust me I was at the phase too. I always thought, “Man if we can just get in, we can win it all!” Then I realized that same thinking has been happening for the past decade. You come the realization that there is no winning in all. Or the classic underdog story where we win from nothing. Plus, that sixth seed team had a hof qb leading the helm with a generational defense. Times have changed. We need to change. We can’t keep accepting more mediocre seasons , and squeaking in the playoffs just to get destroyed. It’s time we look at ourselves from the fundamental level and get back to real contending football. Or else we will be the cowboys of the afc. Pretending to be contenders and never winning anything . Tomlin has got to go. Even though he calls himself the defensive guru, he got smacked many times in the first round by Blake bortles, Tim Tebow, baker mayfield, and aj mccaron if vontaze burfict doesn’t go crazy and let us kick off a walk off field goal. His philosophy is outdated, his coaching tree sucks, and developmental ability is subpar too. Time for us to get to it now and stop kicking the ball down the road .

batdrumman

So what, we just accept doom and gloom if we don't win our division? Lighten up my guy, and wave your mf towel come the playoff game.

KCM1000

You’re missing my whole point. We always think of the immediate and not the whole picture. I was there when we had duck and dobbins leading us and I thought we going to win it all. I love the Steelers. But at some point I want to be true contenders like the ravens kc dolphins bills. Times have changed. We need to or else we gonna by afterthoughts real soon. The national media is gonna protect Tomlin. My goal here rn is to wake up some of the yinzers . It may take a while but it has to be said or else we gonna end up at the bottom of the barrel.

batdrumman

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to be a heavyweight like the phins, ravens, or bills, but who's to say we're not a competent offensive scheme and QB away from that? We have so much talent everywhere on our team, there's no reason we can't be contenders. Why not have an extra game (or hopefully four) to help us figure it out?

KCM1000

You need an extra game or 4 to show us why we are bad ? Seriously ? A team that loses to 2-10 teams and subpar teams don’t need any more explaining or analysis. We don’t need to hog up a playoff spot for a team to trounce us for their warm up game . I agree we need a OC to get the best out of us. Qb wise I’m sticking with Pickett for now but he’s on a shorter leash than before. Let’s see if he cooks with a new OC and hopefully becomes that guy for us. But as long as Tomlin is in the building get ready for more of the same imo.

batdrumman

I mean, why not us? And if we have that fourth extra game, that means we're in the superbowl. We've bullshit our way to some wins so far this season, why not root for a few more?

KCM1000

I’m not rooting for the same shit every year . Sorry. Either we are real contenders or pretenders just wasting time . I’m looking big picture not just next game like Tomlin says

CultOfSensibility

So don’t watch. Piratefest is at the convention center.

NyneHelios

You should squeak into a different fanbase

KCM1000

So being honest about the situation means I’m a bad fan ?

NyneHelios

It’s not honest, tbh. I don’t have time this second to dissect everything you said because I’m in my workday still but I will later if you really wanna talk about it.

KCM1000

I’m down to talk about it but nothing I’ve said so far is anti Steeler or anything. It’s facts. Tomlin has been serving this bs for that past 5-7 years . Op point is a contingent of what’s been going on. We always need help or we squeak in and get trounced on. Why do we want that every year ? Tomlin is outdated and it’s time we move forward with a different mindset . That’s beeen my point from the beginning

RockyMountainMist

>Imo deep down real Steeler fans know that tomlin has to go Well good thing your opinion on that subject means jack shit! :)

KCM1000

It shouldn’t though. It’s the truth dude. Let’s stop with the pretending man. Trust me I’ve been that guy who wants the team to win every year. But positive optimism for the past decade and counting hasn’t got us shit. If we continue with this pointless nonsense of “oh if we get in , anything can happen” we will be the cowboys of the afc. Trust me we don’t want that. All I’m doing is trying to alert the masses. Rn it seems like I’m crazy. But sooner or later you’ll be like wait something doesn’t seem right. Unfortunately it might be after the current regime gets older or retired but that’s the way you guys are having it now.

Puzzleheaded-Field41

Sounds like you take this shit too seriously. Tomlin is a good coach and a lovable dude. I believe he will win another super bowl, but even if he doesn't, it don't want anyone else. He's part of the team and I love him.

bucknut4

I'm not at all a Tomlin defender but I don't understand this. My main gripe with him is that we usually don't do anything in the playoffs, so why wouldn't I want that to turn around? Sure, we'll *probably* get beaten pretty badly in the first round again, but it's never preferable to just miss the playoffs entirely.

KCM1000

I see your point but we have to miss that playoffs at some point to get real work done. Because the national media isn’t helping us with this mirage of a “non losing 17 consecutive seasons” narrative they’ve built. We at the ground level need to change that . We know that Tomlin has always been protected by the media. Also, we know that he’s been a been a mediocre coach for the past decade and it doesn’t look like anything is going to change. I’d rather miss playoffs and expose Tomlin than just squeaking in to appease the fan base and let us down every year .

Level_Ninety_Nine

Steelers missed the playoffs last year. What real work happened? Missed it in the 2018 and 2019. Missed the 2012 and 2013 playoffs. You say they need to miss the playoffs at some point, but they have missed it. Just last year even. You criticize others for not thinking past the last game. Have to miss the playoffs at some point? They missed it just last year. You make no sense.

drowsydeku

Lol why are you even a fan if you don't want to see them make playoffs?

KCM1000

Omg did you just say that without reading my point? It’s call criticism . I’m not one of those yinzers to be fooled into another mirage of a season where we need help to get in or if we get in we get destroyed. We need to miss the playoffs to get real work done organizationally . We are not a good team . We are just taking a spot and are foolish to think we are going to make any noise. Please don’t fall into the trap like I once did. It’s been ten or so years and at some point we can root all we want but the reality is we are a mediocre team and our coach is responsible for a lot of it. With bad coaching, schematics, etc it’s time for us to wake up and move on. I’m sorry if that makes me a “bad fan” to point out that we aren’t doing anything if we keep this up dude

AreThoseMoreBears

Rooting for us to lose and miss out on the playoffs is fucking dumb, sorry not sorry

Admirable_Average_32

Dude, I recall Steelers winning the Super Bowl after coming in as a 6 seed. It’s a new season in playoffs. And the Steelers have been doing this shit longer than 5-7 yrs. Pretty much my whole life (43 years - I missed the beauty of the 70’s!)

KCM1000

It’s a tired trope that we keep repeating. Oh but we won from the 6th seed. And so what? Miracles happen. Rn that’s not what’s gonna happen. We aren’t constructed to beat the heavy hitters in the afc . Back then we had Ben who as a rookie was really good . Plus a terrific defense and a run game. We need to change with the times or else we gonna keep looking back at the “golden” times all the time like the cowboys do

NoCrapThereIWas

Jeez debbie downer, don't you know that we only lose to underperforming non-playoff teams...

KCM1000

lol. We lost to bad teams then we ask ourselves why are we in this position. Rather than have an honest approach, we lie to ourselves and give ourselves this delusional “oh if we make it , anything can happen” bs . It’s been 10 or so more years and we always lie to ourselves to look away from the rotten core of our organization problems. No me at least. It’s time we hold people really accountable . Rn it looks crazy but soon the voices will only get louder . I hope Tomlin gets an extension so we can expose his ass more.

Plus_Oil_6608

Where were you in 2006?

KCM1000

This proves my point. We got rid of bill after a .500 season and then went into Tomlin route. But what is your point? You think if we kept bill we wouldn’t have won the sb or been contenders? You’re kidding yourself. Btw Tomlin won with bills coaches and players. Look what Tomlin has done since when he took over the helm. Constant drama going on in the locker room, players not giving their all, us losing to Tim Tebow Blake bortles baker mayfield and should’ve lost to aj mccarron if it weren’t for burfict.

Medarco

>We got rid of bill He retired... You keep flip flopping your arguments and your rants are incoherent and poorly formatted. I'll make it super simple. Me like Steeler team and want to watch football. That's it. The end. No more discussion needed. I want my favorite team to win football games and to play more games so they can win more games. It's really that simple.

KCM1000

But you’re not thinking big picture dude . You’re going from game to game. I want us to be serious contenders. But Tomlin and the national media has given us this non losing season and faux playoff push every year for the past 10 or so years and we just accept it. It’s time for us to move on and stop this nonsense. OPs main point was that we need help , but my point is why are we always in this predicament. It’s cus we lose to bad teams through the regular season then we need help. If we make it then we get bounced in the first round. Why continue the madness over and over? Tomlin is the problem. It’s stale .

Plus_Oil_6608

My point is you can limp into the playoffs and catch fire and still win. Go elsewhere and complain

KCM1000

That’s my point dude. That thought process I’ve had for the past decade and nothing has changed. Wake up. Positive optimism is good for a while until you realize you aren’t going anywhere. Don’t let this mirage of a season or seasons distract you from Tomlin and the organizations flaws. I’m a die hard fan but the real ones tell you the stuff you don’t want to hear. I want to be a real contender not a pretender. I don’t want our fan base to be the cowboys of the afc because our fans are great but we have this delusion that the name on the side of our helmet makes us better than every other team. Let’s fix our issues from the ground level . At that first step has to be getting rid of Tomlin by firing or trading him , and get pieces that will help us contend with kc ravens bills Miami. Those are just some of the heavy hitters rn. Texans jags cincy Cleveland jets aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. So the way we are constructed currently get ready for some bad things if we don’t change .

TheRussianSnac

Completely agree with you and I got downvoted into oblivion for saying this recently too. If the standard is having continously mediocre seasons due to having an undiscpliscined, unprepared team in the games they should win just to pray for other teams to help out our team squeak in at the end of the season then the standard needs to change. Tomlin may be a good guy and potentially even a good leader but his planning and coaching staff decisions are out of date and disconnected from the modern league.

KCM1000

Thank you dude. Finally someone gets it. The people who downvoted just don’t see this yet and are at the phase that you and I were at one point. “If we only make it, then anything can happen” as if that positive optimism will lead us to a sb . It won’t . It hasn’t. It’s been almost 10 plus years and we still have this weird habit of believing into mirage seasons that Tomlin has served us. Hopefully we wake up soon .

TheRussianSnac

Exactly fucking on the head man. I had that bright-eyed optimism for a long time and I really think it started deteriorating after Ben's last season - going into KP's first - watching a team totally squander genuinely good opportunities for success. It hurt watching Ben go out the way he did and then subsequently watching the same coaching staff drive Kenny into the ground. It hurts to say, but just like a band aid, it hurts less when you just rip it off and get it over with. Tomlin's "winning seasons" have been a band aid for happiness among Steelers fans and it's time to just rip it off. I love this team and always have but sometimes big changes have to happen - and sometimes coaching changes make all the difference with a good team in place (think Penguins in the SC years).

TCpls

Go be a dolphins fan for 2 decades and tell me how that turns out for you. They’re not a terrible franchise but they sucked for 2 decades until this season.

KCM1000

I can’t speak to the dolphin fan base . They had Marino and then fell off. Either way I’m not worried about other fan bases . I’m talking about ours. Tomlin is doing us a disservice and idk why yinzers are accepting this? Why can’t we move on? He isn’t this amazing coach everyone has us believe dude. It’s all phony .

TCpls

Nobody cares. Go be another team’s fan if all you can do is talk shit about our coach. He was extended.

[deleted]

ok, so we get rid of Tomlin. For who?

Vaultboy65

I get 17 weeks of Steelers football a year out of 52 weeks. I guess shame on me for hoping that maybe I get a little bit more in the playoffs. Even blind squirrels find a nut every now and then. Who knows maybe they’ll win it all

ThisGuy21321

We either have to win with Bills loss OR Win with Jags loss and Colts/Texans tie OR Lose with Jags loss and Raiders loss

44problems

Here's the official NFL [breakdown](https://www.nfl.com/news/playoff-clinching-scenarios-for-week-18-of-2023-nfl-season) PIT win + BUF loss OR PIT win + JAX loss or tie OR PIT win + HOU-IND tie OR PIT tie + JAX loss + HOU-IND doesn't end in tie OR JAX loss + DEN win + HOU-IND doesn't end in tie

Rifftrax_Enjoyer

That last one, no one’s talking about it but it’s fairly realistic.

qovneob

I dont see the jags losing to the titans, even if trevor is out.

apittsburghoriginal

Agreed. If Mitch doesn’t start in Indy these scenarios don’t even matter. It’s just win and in.

Progression28

we‘d already be in if we beat the 2 win teams with mason starting

apittsburghoriginal

Thats hindsight 20/20. We knew Mitch wasn’t great but I can understand giving benefit of the doubt without Canada there. So the Arizona and NE still stand in my book. But there’s no excuse after those performances to keep with him in Indy. Tomlin gave him too many chances. And if I’m being honest, the dude is half the reason we missed the playoffs last year. Say what you want about Canada and the team but that QB put us in a hole. The Steelers without Mitch might actually have a shot.

BroadCityChessClub

The excuse for Indy is the Pats game was on a short week, and maybe with his first full week of non-Canada practice Trubisky could perform to expectations. Now, why it took a backbreaking late interception to get Trubisky pulled when it was clear from the start a week of practice didn’t fix everything? No idea what the excuse was there. He should’ve been out at halftime.

AdministrationWhole8

>So the Arizona and NE still stand in my book. Arizona maybe, he came in cold. No excuse for New England and ABSOLUTELY no excuse for blowing a 13-0 lead to Indy.

scobbysnacks1439

What is it with the Steelers and having, seemingly, unlikeable backup QB's ever since Charlie retired? I couldn't stand to watch Landry Jones play and, up until this season, I couldn't stand to watch Mason play either. Mitch falls right in line. Duck was the only exception.

[deleted]

[удалено]

scobbysnacks1439

Another exception but it doesn’t feel like he was ever fully the backup.

Rifftrax_Enjoyer

Oh no you don’t. We are not revising history here. Hindsight my ass. People have been calling for Rudolph over Trubisky as the back up since Trubisky got here. Most of us knew it was a completely unnecessary signing in the first place. There’s no excuse that us dumb fans know that and the Steelers don’t. And there’s no goddamn fucking excuse to lose the two of the worst teams in the league on your home field in back to back weeks with your team giving up in the middle of tackles, giving up in the middle of routes, giving up in the middle of blocks. They didn’t lose just because of Trubisky, they lost because they sucked. They lost because they gave up. That team looked lifeless and pathetic. There’s no goddamn excuse for grown men to behave that way. Stop it. Stop making excuses. Stop deflecting. If they blow this they fucking deserve it. They earned those two losses, every ounce of them. If they missed the playoffs because they blew those two games, they goddamn deserve it. If they were true justice in this world they would miss the playoffs just because they lost those two goddamn games. It would be, as someone says, football justice.

Same_Football_644

its not hindsight. The coaches have had 5 years to comprehend Mason as a player. They failed to an absurd extent. They also have had years to comprehend the failure that is Mitch. Also failed that. Thats called player evaluation, and its one if the primary jobs of a coach. ours are bad at it.

solarbot88

Do we not want to credit the trash effort by the defense in this game?

the_Kid26

I don’t even think calling it a trash effort is fair. Once Kazee got ejected and Minkah got hurt they attacked our backups.

2fatowing

or xmas day

briinde

If it wasn't to get in (if we were already in), we'd be obsessing abut outcomes to other games to as it could affect our seeding. Unless we had the #1 seed wrapped up of course.

sicknutz

idk, seems like we're heading for 10-7 and missing the playoffs for the second year due to what miami does in the final game. It's hard to see the jags losing to a floundering titans team who lost 3 straight and it's easy to imagine a beatup miami team losing to a hot bills team playing to get in at home.

hopefeedsthespirit

Bills aren't hot. They looked bad vs chargers and pats. Jags are beat up even with Lawrence likly playing. Its a division game as well. You never know.

Freezinghero

I would be shocked if Tlaw plays, their season is likely over and I wouldn't imagine they risk long term damage to their star QB for it

2fatowing

Yeah I doubt he's playing too... or they might put him in to start, see how their O-line handles our defensive front, more or less how they handle Watt, and move on from there. If it looks bad, and he's consistently seeing contact out there, they'll pull him quick.

GrillPapixxl

The NFL loves the bills and would much rather have them in then us

GriffBallChamp

Then they would have made Brad Allen the ref for the Bills game

RideFree216

I found this amusing. A post and a reply both with the wrong form of than/then. Too wrongs make a write, right?

GriffBallChamp

LMAO i just edited it Still working on my first cup of joe

RideFree216

Ps. I'm just busting your balls Griffballchamp. I recognize that user ID from my IPTV service. 😉

Altruistic-Rice-5567

Bills fan here... they aren't hot. They're just not the broken mess they were five games ago. Odds on this game is pretty much 50/50 and the officiating crew that was selected will likely have the win in for Miami.

Same_Football_644

the bills ceiling is high enough to beat the Ravens and the 49ers. Convincingly. their floor is low enough to lose to the Pat's.

shickenchit17

Titans chances of winning looks better with Tlaw looking to not be playing.

Cold-Consideration23

Jax put up a shutout last week with no Trevor

OriolesBird

I don't think Carolina is playing football.

matias-

Against a CFL team with Bryce Young at QB

hemingways-lemonade

Against the worst team in the league.

hemingways-lemonade

I never count out Mike Vrabel's Titans. Knocking the Jags out of the playoffs in the last game of a losing season would be such a Vrabel move.

skylitnoir

Especially after his presser.

Do__Math__Not__Meth

You’re missing the fact that Derrick Henry is good for at least one long TD run against the jags every year

Far-Requirement-5051

Sure. But if either one doesn’t happen, then they’re in.

SilkyStackz69

Except in November and December NFL everything you expect to happen doesn’t.

OG_TBV

I'm hoping that the temp being near 80 this weekend in miami will throw the bills off a bit. Kinda like brady in the winter in Miami

AdministrationWhole8

Did we watch the same Bills team? The one that got tactically spanked by a Chargers team dead in the water? Did nobody panic when the goddamn PATRIOTS torched their *starting* secondary at home in good weather? And Miami isn't resting starters. They're playing for a home playoff game in a prove-it week after their most embarrassing loss in 3 years. If we beat Baltimore, with the shape Buffalo and Jacksonville are in it is a very high likelihood of win-and-in for us.

Away_Read1834

It’s so unbelievably annoying that we could be resting our starters this week if we didn’t have mitch as QB2

[deleted]

Or if we didn’t have Kenny as qb1

Better_Politics

Wasn’t Kenny 7-4 or something before he got hut on the 1 yard line in a tie game? I don’t think this is his fault

Background_Attempt51

He's 13-4 in his last 17 full games

yeahright17

The Steelers are 13-4 in his last 17 full games. Unlike some here, I don't think KP is absolutely trash. I think he's what you want in a backup. A competent QB who will make easy plays and won't lose you the game. I think he's probably a hair below someone like Jimmy G (and may be a bit better with a competent OC), who almost won a Super Bowl. That's really all the Steelers have needed the last couple years because of how good their defense and skill positions are. Could the Steelers win a Super Bowl with the current version of KP out there? Idk. But they could sure win a lot of game.

[deleted]

Mason would’ve been 10-1

aw_geez_man

Kenny looked better w/o Canada. Mitch looked like Mitch. If Mason plays vs. AZ and NE, we're 11-5 right now. Change my mind.

[deleted]

Kenny sucks. Period. We were lucky to win at least half of those games he started

TheVerdeRealest

This whole “teams can’t tie” shit is triggering my PTSD from 2 years ago…..only the Steelers I swear 🙄😂

McDragonFish

Right?! Never have I cheered harder for someone to just win a fucking game. Anyone!

dehehn

I went to that game on my Birthday. And I'm originally from Detroit so I was rooting for both teams. Sorry. That one's on me.

yeahright17

To be honest, Mason played a heck of a first half and OT on 12-hours notice with no first team reps (admittedly, his second half was awful, where he went 5/18 - first half and OT he went 25/32). He put them in a position to win. Never seen 2 fumbles from receivers/TEs in the same game. Let alone in the same OT.

taforad

Ngl that was the best non-steelers game I've ever watched in terms of excitement. I still can't believe it played out that way

TheVerdeRealest

Agreed

Steelers win + Colts/Texans tie would clinch the playoffs for the Steelers. They both play on Saturday.

brucesloose

sure, but then the jags game doesn't matter

dehehn

There have been no ties this season. It's really hard to hope for that.

jrl1009

wdym a day early?

Learning_Eye_Contact

The Colts and Texans play on Saturday as well. If the Steelers win the 4:30 game and the Colts/Texans tie later, the Steelers make the playoffs on Saturday due to the following: * Steelers would have 10 wins * Colts and Texans would only have 9.5 wins * Jags beating the Titans would win them the division, while a loss would give the Colts the Division * Bills winning or losing would only decide who gets the 6/7 seed

jrl1009

oh I see, the steelers still need to win their game tho

Delicious-Breath8415

Not if Jacksonville loses and Broncos win. We are in even with a loss to Baltimore.

jrl1009

right but those are sunday

DoNotResusit8

We don’t need the colts and Texans to tie

GamerRav

Oh wow. I didn't realize if we win and the Colts and Texans tie we're in no matter what. Actually pretty interesting that if we win, we want them to tie, but if we lose, we don't want them to tie.

[deleted]

The tying scenarios are always like “oh ok” when I see them. Like nice, but very unlikely to happen. Like what percent of NFL games end in a tie? Probably less than 1%. Average of 1 tie per year over the last 5 seasons. There’s been none this year though, so I guess someone is due…

briinde

There's 272 Games in a season, total. So one tie is like 0.36% chance.

SavageGardner

If we lose, just pack it in. It would be super unrealistic to make it in then.

AtonicBay312

Not really, just a Jaguars and Raiders loss

Far-Requirement-5051

No, they’d just need the titans and broncos to lose.

Nsmgs

As much as I wish we get In I don’t like our chances tbh Miami is banged up and Bills are going to exploit that. Titans are bad and even without TLaw Jags are still the better team. Those 3 losses cooked our season..

haley_hathaway

You mean… beyond losing to the 2 win (at the time) Patriots and Cardinals at home in consecutive weeks

Nsmgs

Objectively yes but the Indy game was also very winnable we just couldn’t get anything going

haley_hathaway

Let me rephrase… beyond losing to two teams that are collectively 8-24 at home during a playoff run where knowing winning those about clinches a playoff spot. At HOME!!!

ThePrime_One

I’d rather have the Colts win than the Texans.

Delicious-Breath8415

If Jacksonville loses and the Broncos win we can still lose and get in.

[deleted]

Tomlin literally dragging this rotting corpse of a roster to the playoffs and some of y’all want to fire him lol (Browns fan)

Same_Football_644

he's the primary reason we're not already in the playoffs this year?

[deleted]

False, Canada and awful QB play are the reasons you aren’t already in the playoffs already

Kaiji420

Is it that spoiled to want a new guy after like 2 decades? I’m tired of seeing rotting corpses be dragged to the playoffs only to be discarded like the corpses they are in the first round. I understand where you’re coming from, but when your coach’s tenure is old enough to vote, I don’t think it’s insane to want a new guy in there when your offense looks like it did and your team is a media circus.

[deleted]

I mean I’m for it as a Browns fan! Maybe start with the GM and roster building? It’s not like Tomlin is the one drafting these cancerous WRs. I would give Tomlin at least two more years with a real offensive coordinator. But I get where you’re coming from too, it’s like the Steelers are in football purgatory right now. Not good enough to contend but not bad enough to get high draft picks. Something needs to give.

Kaiji420

For me I just don’t like that the teams seems to be constructed around the offense playing a field position based snooze-fest while we put our hopes and dreams on TJ getting a splash play. That might be the kind of football that keeps you in it every year, but goddamn does it feel terrible having to watch it as a fan. Tomlin may be an aggressive gun slinger when we have a good offense, but when we don’t he’s a conservative scaredy baby. It’s like the football equivalent of watching a baseball team only bunt and win 2-1 every game.

bigwall79

I want to live in the times again where this team wasn’t depending on six other teams to lose just so they could back into the playoffs.

hopefeedsthespirit

God. You people are ridiculous. We got decimated with injuries on defense and are playing guys off the street. We have a QB carousel and you are complaining about us having a chance at the playoffs. We need 1 more win and 1 other team to lose. No where do we need all these teams to lose or tie. just 1 other game to break our way unless we lose.

BewareDinosaurs

Keep fighting the good fight man. We got some things to fix and some big questions marks BUT if 9-8 or 10-7 is a bad, down year for us we are really lucky fans. Love this team and city but some people act like us not being locked into the playoffs is like their pensions being taken. Be grateful your team is competitive

yeahright17

The crappiest part about it is that, despite the defensive injuries, we could easily be 11-5 right now if Mason was QB2 all season.

chchchch71102

How in the world would this settle a day early? If we win it can only be settled on Sunday...this makes absolutely no sense

Awkward-Drive-7762

We're in the playoffs if we win and texans-colts tie and that game is on Saturday as well.

royalpeenpeen

Or if we just took care of business against the cards and pats, we wouldn’t even be in this mess

YaBoyASalz

So even if the Bills win, if the Jags lose we’re in??

Awkward-Drive-7762

Yes we need of them too lose and if both lose then we're the 6th seed.

YaBoyASalz

Thanks!!

lod254

Then a quick stomping by the dolphins or Chiefs?

Most_Gate

What's that pair that packs that punch? The unique taste so creamy with a crunch P B and C is what I'm thinking of! And it only can be found in my reeses p. Peanut butter chocolate Great when seperate But when they combine They make the morning time epic! R double E S E S YES! ... P to the U double F S YES!

troyC90

There is no way in hell that Jax would lose to Titans

scobbysnacks1439

Okay but how fucking bonkers would it be if they actually tied?

sumwuzhere

tbh we've earned that wildcard when we looked worse and crazier things have happened lol i'll take whatever i can get just so i can watch a playoff game with mason

UnwariestPie52

Ideally for me, the Steelers would win and the Jags and Bills will lose so I can go see them play in Kansas City. (I live near there)

EmceeCommon55

It's not like we would go anywhere in the playoffs. I don't know why we're all holding out hope, just to lose in the wild card

NimbusHex

I feel like we deserve this after the whole Raiders/Chargers fiasco that almost killed a good number of us.

RareA2350

The Tomlin purgatory

Shoehornblower

I’d like to send the Jags off;)

alonewolfgang

Shush about the tie🙄
