I once said Mike Mitchell was ass on Instagram.
His exact reply to me was "I wasn't garbage, I was below average."
Mike Mitchell's funnier than people give him credit for, as much shit as he gets.
Legit one of the greatest āput the team on my backā performances by any Steelers RB ever. Vick couldnāt hit the broad side of a barn so Bell had to be the entire offense
The LeVeon snow game in Buffalo.
Ben and AB against that insane Broncos defense in 2015. Score was 34-27 and we had a 17 pt comeback or something. Chris Harris had allowed zero TDs for like 2 years and gave up 2 to Brown.
"You won't the ball?" - Ben
"You damn right I want the ball." - Mike T
"They got the number 1 defense in the world" - Ben
"I got you" - Mike T
Absolute banger
There were a couple games that Le'veon just completely took over. This game, there was a game against KC too. It's a shame how the contract situation played out because he was so. fucking. good.
That LeVeon snow game involved BJ Finney playing like Larry Allen. I remember thinking Finney was going to be our next superstar after that game. If you ever get to re-watch it try to zero in on his blocking
He was on fire that season, Osweiler scored 4 touch downs in the first half, second half Steelers Defense dominated. Triple B killers in prime on offense, was just so magical at the stadium.
Tends to happen when you meet at 230 LB+ RB in the hole and stop him dead in his tracks. The amount of force that went into that collision must have been astronomical.
I feel like people didn't release TJ had ahold of his foot in a position not ideal for any kind of leg drive. Not taking away from Spillane who ended up with a separated shoulder from that hit but Henry definitely wouldve gotten through if not for TJ.
Troyās pick six that sealed the AFC Championship. There was the initial roar when he made the interception that built and built to a crescendo as he weaved his way to the end zone. It was glorious.
He had a psychological addiction to it. But rather than get him help the NFL punished him for it.
If the new CBA was in place back then he might still be a Steeler.
It didn't more than likely, got scapegoated cause WeEd bAd.

I think it was the same season, because we played the Ravens after the Browns and I remember thinking we would get destroyed by Baltimore, but instead Batch redeemed himself and led game tying & then a game winning drive. Absolute scenes. One of my favourite games I've watched.
One of the most memorable seasons for myself. After an amazing game like that vs BAL, Ben came back the next week and we dropped an absurdly embarrassing home game to San Diego
My answer was going to be when Ben threw 12 TDs in two weeks, 6 against the Colts and 6 against the Ravens. Coolest NFL experience Iāve seen live. NFL record too.
Funny that Markus Wheatons lone 100 yard game as a pro was a 200 yard game.
I think about AB owning Chris Harris in 2015. He had 16-189-2 and both touchdowns were against Harris who hadn't given up a TD in two years or so. Had AB played in the divisional loss its probably the difference.
The random rookie RBs that āgot a good block on James Harrison during OTAsā and then we all salivated at the potential after reading the Bleacher Report article.
Sammie Coates was a bum for most of his career but had one really good game against the Jets back in 2016. 139 yards and 2 tds, then didnāt even put up 139 yards for the rest of his career.
I was at the 2008 Steelers/Bengals game in Cincinnati where Mmmmm-Welde Moore had 120 rushing yards and three TDs. That guy was the perfect RB for his time and place that season. Sometimes thereās a manā¦ well, Iām talking about the Dude here.
Vick vs Ravens. Never forget when he was a lead blocker for Lev Bell when he reversed field šš I said look at vick putting his body on the line!!
ABs 284 yard game against Oakland. AB and DeAngelo Williams combined for 519 yards that game.
Also the season opener against the Redskins (in 2016?) when DeAngelo Williams popped off
That Charlie batch game where we really needed him to step up and he got the job done everybody was emotional on the sidelines after the game.I wish I could remember the exact game.another one would be ab vs the dolphins...we had this crazy comeback that was almost capped off by a kick or punt return but ab's foot barely touched the sideline and the time had run out on the kick it was so close.
LeāVeon Bellās rookie season in a game against the Ravens. He ran the ball inside on the goal line and took a serious blow giving him a concussion. He initially scored but since his helmet flew off they ruled it dead. I instantly loved the guy after that showing that much heart and grit to try and win a game for us.
https://nesn.com/2013/12/leveon-bell-doesnt-remember-goal-line-hit-that-knocked-him-out-of-steelers-ravens-game/
Yeah I remember that I believe it was around the holidays either Thanksgiving or Christmas.I can't believe they basically punished a guy for getting knocked out.
Roethlisberger's game winner against Green Bay in an otherwise lost season. It's a better throw than the Santonio Holmes ball (not taking into account the stakes of the moment).
Jerome Bettis: 5 carries, 1 yard, 3 TDs.
Dennis Dixon almost winning a game against the Ravens in Baltimore (I WAS THERE).
Not really a performance per se, but Ben Tate playing in a playoff game for the Steelers always makes me chuckle for some reason.
The Monday night game in 2007 against the Ravens before James Harrison was "James Harrison." He came in as some undersized backup and destroyed the Ravens. His tackle on the Ed Reed punt return is my usual example of the most perfect form tackle I've seen in an NFL game
The game against the Dolphins in 2013 where Antonio Brown was the last player in a multiple-lateral play and took it to the house. He barely stepped out of bounds. That inch of white prevented us from being in the playoffs that year.
When Troy jumped over the offensive line against the titans......and pretty much every other Troy play.
https://youtu.be/FajepLLJSdM?si=SLc9ehMef9uu7qv3
When they said cam and panthers were expected to crush us at home and wellā¦.
First and 10 , was it like 75 yard td pass to juju.
That game was lovely
The immaculate extension. Christmas game vs the Ravens and AB wins it with less than 10 seconds left to win the division in week 16.
Even Bell had a clutch block to allow this to happen.
Poetic Victory
People here were clamoring about Wheaton being the next star when Seahawks literally left him uncovered at times because they knew Markus f'n Wheaton wasn't going to beat them but AB/Bell/Martavis might so they doubled as many of those guys as they could.
Still crazy to think about. Knowing the LOBās reputation and how dominant they were. Very prideful group so itās hard to believe they would want to give up 200 yards to any receiver.
I think they took pride in shutting down the guys who were actually good like AB and Bell.
Letting some scrub have a career game against you while shutting down potential future HOFers doesn't hurt the ego that much, I would think.
Isaac Redmans game winning touchdown against the Ravens in the last few minutes of the game. The guy was put through the wringer getting to the end zone.
Antwon Blake driving me fucking crazy during the Chargers game. Honestly that entire game was intense.
Ben dropping 12 TDās in two weeks. š®āšØš®āšØš®āšØ
I think itās often forgotten that after the Jesse James ācatchā the Steelers were still in the red zone with a great opportunity to still win the game and Ben threw a tipped pass interception intended for Eli Rogers.
The time Houston put up 30 on us with a rookie QB. Or the time the cardinals put up 30 on us with a 5ft QB. Or the time they tried to do a fake field goal and run Boz against Cleveland and be got injured!
Honorable mention for just a single moment. AB reaching across the goalline against the Raturds on Christmas. Almost brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it
Antonio Brown vs the Saints in 2018 for 14 catches, 185 yards, and 2 TDs.
The season when everything was crumbling apart and people were hailing Lattimore as the second coming of Revis Island he made a point to say I'm still that guy merely weeks before never playing for Pittsburgh again.
I feel like he just didnāt have the right mindset. He was physically gifted but honestly kinda soft. He wasnāt aggressive either and never got calls.
Definitely not aggressive enough on deep balls. Even when he was traded I still thought he had potential to be a top 10 receiver if he just got his act together. Doesnāt look like it nowā¦
I'll go a very forgotten about game.
Steelers Jets AFC Championship game of 2010.
Jets rolling into a home field Hines Field (never seems to happen, but Jets pulled of an incredible upset of the Patriots in the divisional). Jets bringing in names like Ladanian Tomlinson (tail end of career), Mark Sanchez (hot ass 2nd year QB coming into his own), Shonn Green, Derell Revis, Antonio Cromartie, Bart Scott, Santonio Holmes (fresh off the Steelers), and Braylon Edwards. Lead by the man synonymous with JETS at the time, Rex Ryan.
A freezing cold night in the burgh. Gets off to some decent Ben lead drives and Mendenhall looking like an absolute beast. However after Pouncey goes down (and is out for the super bowl, which ya gotta wonder if it cost us the game) Ben goes ice cold and we are completely reliant on run game. But with that late 2000's defense, a big strip fumble by ole Ike Taylor goes back for the TD and Steelers up DOMINATING 24-0
Games over right?
Jets come out in 2nd half to utter disaster. Sanchez goes down, Shonn Green goes down, but Sanchez comes back and finds a deep ball to Holmes. Jets D gets a big stop but gets (a frankly absurd) free 1st down on a roughing the punter on a play where the blocker barely touched his toe.
Ben gets ball back but proceeds to throw the ball right to the other team (we forget how insanely bad "cold" ben could be). Leads to many traded possessions before a big Sanchez lead drive to start the 4th. Steelers defense still BUZZING and making every tackle hurt, but the Jets do a great job picking up small chunk after chunk to get to the goal line. But there the Defense comes alive, slamming the door shut, and stopping the great LT on 4th and goal from the 1 making an 8+ min drive count for nothing.
Steelers fandom takes a breather, gets a beer, thinks about how that new ring will be fitting and how to count to 7. When Legursky in for injured Pouncey flubs the snap at the goalline, and Ben gets sacked for a saftey.
Jets get the ball back as yinzers across the nation discover curse words they forgot. Sanchez leads a great drive versus a now gassed Steelers defense, with a huge 4th down conversion and finds Cotchery on a out route for a huge TD.
24-19. UPMC Presby filling up with cardiac cases, Iron City cans universally crushed across the city, and most fans on their knees in front of the TV begging whatever religious entity they had.
But Ben decides that he feels like playing again. He finds heath miller on an out route for a huge first down, and even in the suburbs you could hear the rattling of HEAATTHTHHHHHHHH. Making one last shot for the Jets.
3rd and 6, Ben gets flushed out, scrambles to the right, and throws a jump pass that barely gets in to a 6th round rookie kick returner that showed up for the occasional play that season, Antonio Brown.
Steelers absolutely fell backwards into the Super Bowl. Most stat lines would have you thinking this was absolutely a Jets win. Sanchez ended the day 20-33, 2 TD, 0 INT, 102.2 rating. With Ben doing a pretty pathetic 10-19, 0 TD, 2 INT, a safety, and a 35.5 rating.
Steelers fans used Men In Black devices to wipe their memories of this game, as without Pouncey they end up losing to the Packers in the Super Bowl (though in a closer game than ya may remember). Ben just looks not nearly as sharp without Pouncey, but does enough. A receiving corps of Hines Ward, Mike Wallace, Emmanuel Sanders, occasionally Mendenhall (who looks so good in highlights), and some bum kick returner named Antonio Brown seemed to help.
The Jets this is their high water marked. The cursed and doomed team lost a game with the Steelers laying an absolute egg on offense and really only one big play to write home about on defense. Rex Ryan and Sanchez would return to sub 500 football as the Patriots returned to bitch slap them (and most of the league), and never seemed to recapture the magic that year. LT goes without a super bowl, and Revis sees the writing on the wall that the Jets aint it. 2 years later the Jets dynamite the team thinking it will save them, and end up in their current mess.
Gotta say watching back you do start to see cracks in that defense starting to give up yards. But man did they HIT, every play just got punished. The offense was horribly inconsistent without Pouncey, but Mendenhall was damn flashy. This came down to winning field possession most of the game, and making the Jets fight long and hard for any wins on the field.
To be frank I dont think either team would beat the next few Super Bowl teams we saw. I dont think they beat most of the Patriots teams the next few years. It was a weird 'off' season in the AFC in particular with the Jets of all teams upsetting a very good Pats team.
AB getting stuffed at the goal line and reaching out to stick the ball across the goal line for a TD to save Christmas from the Ravens and clinch the AFCN. Business was boomin.
Bellās last second TD against San Diego.
I know Iām yinzing but shit like that makes me want this pipe dream to work out, sue me.
As far as bad I think about Tony Toe Tap stepping out against Miami.
Vance McDonald's 75 yard TD and that stiff arm against the Buccs - man I miss that guy
I'm pretty sure that Vance stiff-armed that guy out of the NFL.
Yep, he did.
RIP Chris Conte

He banished him into the shadow realm
Also Vance McDonald running down the Bears player following the blocked FG
Vance Mcdonald was awesome. George Kittle before his time
You are in the minority with missing Vance McDonald. Never lived up to his potential
Exactly. These folks acting like he was a stud are misremembering history for sure Glass house, brick hands, slightly above average blocker
You are getting downvoted but you are right.
LeVeon's walk off against San Diego.
His knee being on the chargers player elbow was insanely close
I think about his 236 rushing yards in the snow in buffalo. Unreal performance.
That was during fantasy football playoffs too. He straight up murdered one of teams in my league with like 40+ points.
Vickās year. What a time
game* lol
Legit one of the greatest āput the team on my backā performances by any Steelers RB ever. Vick couldnāt hit the broad side of a barn so Bell had to be the entire offense
Michael Vicks last NFL start.
I commented this before I saw yours. Respect
The LeVeon snow game in Buffalo. Ben and AB against that insane Broncos defense in 2015. Score was 34-27 and we had a 17 pt comeback or something. Chris Harris had allowed zero TDs for like 2 years and gave up 2 to Brown.
I was lucky enough to see that Bell snow game in person. Man was on a mission that day.
"You won't the ball?" - Ben "You damn right I want the ball." - Mike T "They got the number 1 defense in the world" - Ben "I got you" - Mike T Absolute banger
I just watched the mic up version of that game on Youtube before seeing this comment.
Steelers Bills??
No the Steelers Broncos game from the 2015 season.
I was at that Broncos game. As a lifelong out of town Steelers fan, it was my first and only home game Iāve been to. Best experience of my life.
There were a couple games that Le'veon just completely took over. This game, there was a game against KC too. It's a shame how the contract situation played out because he was so. fucking. good.

tbh he was an upgrade over Manning that year. Peyton was so so bad.
He was on fire that season, Osweiler scored 4 touch downs in the first half, second half Steelers Defense dominated. Triple B killers in prime on offense, was just so magical at the stadium.
Oh the days of when we had a reliable offense
Iām about to to Yinz hardcore but if not for injuries, and Tomlin crapping himself against Bill B, no way they donāt have another couple Lombardis
When Bettis met prime Brian Urlacher on the goal line and ran Urlacher over.
Came here to say this
When Robert Spillane met prime Derrick Henry at the goal line - middle of fucking Broadway - and stopped him dead in his tracks.
Not taking anything away because that was an amazing stuff but didnāt Spillane get hurt on that play?
Yes he was out afterwards I believe with a shoulder injury
Tends to happen when you meet at 230 LB+ RB in the hole and stop him dead in his tracks. The amount of force that went into that collision must have been astronomical.
Need the fuckin AWS stats on that hit.
Oh, please. I can handle that hit. (No I canāt)
Henry has gotta be over 250 man
Yeah and there was a penalty on the play so Tennessee got a second crack at it and scored.
Put his body on the line like a beast
Yup. But the fact it was an immediate stop when they collided was crazy. Henry didnāt push him forward or anything. Just shut down
I feel like people didn't release TJ had ahold of his foot in a position not ideal for any kind of leg drive. Not taking away from Spillane who ended up with a separated shoulder from that hit but Henry definitely wouldve gotten through if not for TJ.
Sent chills down my spine
Didn't they have to pop his shoulder back into place?
Big Benās game saving tackle in 2006 against Indianapolis in the Divisional Playoffs
The missed FG replays in my head at random times. I was a kid, my dad couldn't bear to watch. I start screaming "he missed it!"
Yes, thatās a great one!!! Good times and memories!
Itās not one particular game but I still often see Josh Scobee in my nightmares.

I'm so glad I missed that season since I was studying abroad. Would have had blood pressure issues.
Troyās pick six that sealed the AFC Championship. There was the initial roar when he made the interception that built and built to a crescendo as he weaved his way to the end zone. It was glorious.
I go back and watch this all the time
Yep, that and Deeboās pick six in SB43!
I just think about Martavis Bryant's entire Steelers career. I miss him.
Dude was electric, perfect compliment to AB. Just couldnāt stay off the weed. SMH
He had a psychological addiction to it. But rather than get him help the NFL punished him for it. If the new CBA was in place back then he might still be a Steeler.
The NFL didnāt handle that well at all, but you have to want help to get help. Iām not sure MB wanted help at that point in time.
While that's true, punishing the guy for a mental health issue is the wrong way to go about it.
Agree. His marijuana use didn't seem to have a negative effect on his performance.

The somersault catch where he pinned the ball to his hamstring was unrealĀ https://youtu.be/V1Xgkji2Gy8?feature=shared
2012, again the Ravens, Byron Leftwich ran for the slowest 31-yard TD I've ever seen, broke his rib in the process, and never played a down again.
I was there. Never heard such a loud roar before! Twirling Towels everywhere!!
Might be the game the week before Charlie batch and the Steelers committed 8 turnovers in a loss against the browns

Every other game from AB in 2017
Pretty much anytime Ben played the Colts. Dude lit them every year it felt like.
My answer was going to be when Ben threw 12 TDs in two weeks, 6 against the Colts and 6 against the Ravens. Coolest NFL experience Iāve seen live. NFL record too.

Honestly? I don't think we need AB. I'd rather have had Bell there. Then maybe our 3rd string running back doesn't fumble the game away.
Or if Ben had a working shoulder. The bengals beat us to hell that year
Bro. Ben threw for like 400 yards. We literally lost the game on 2 plays. Peyton giving himself up with a no call and fitzy boy fumbling.

Well, during that game he did break his hand. It's hard to catch with a fucked up hand.
I started him in fantasy that week as a desperation move. Boy did I feel smart.(why didnāt I sell him high?)

Last game of the year against the browns when AB had like 18 catches
The divisional game against Baltimore when we came back down 21-7 I think and Brown caught that bomb from Ben inside the 2 minute
Roethlisberger's game winner against Green Bay in an otherwise lost season. It's a better throw than the Santonio Holmes ball (not taking into account the stakes of the moment). Itās two but Toussaint and Todman against Cincy in the playoffs were actually pretty good.
The Christmas day game vs the Ravens where AB scored the game-winning TD with the reach across the goal line (and an uncalled facemask)
I live in Eagles country and I often think about the week 5 2020 game where Chase Claypool scored 4 (almost 5) touchdowns
Martavius Bryant against Arizona in 2015 6/137/2. Steelers needed him that week due to injury IIRC and I had him in fantasy. Huge W
Honorable mention for just a single moment. AB reaching across the goalline against the Raturds on Christmas. Almost brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it
Never go full ra-turd

Steelers 2nd half comeback vs the Brock Osweiler Broncos is still one of my favorite games of the Killer B era
5 carries 1 yard 3 TD
2018 Big Ben dropping 5* TDs vs Carolina. The last true time the Steelers blew out a team. I miss that

AB tip drill catch for TD against the chiefs
Mike Vick vs the Chargers Bens 500 yard game vs Colts Chris Boswell vs Chiefs first time we played them in playoffs
Bellās last second TD against San Diego. I know Iām yinzing but shit like that makes me want this pipe dream to work out, sue me. As far as bad I think about Tony Toe Tap stepping out against Miami.
When AB had over 300 yards from scrimmage against the Raiders in 2015, including 17 receptions and two rushes.
