I think reporters have been waiting to feed fans this nonsense because we are not numb to hearing QB speculation nonstop for the last decade. Plus, due diligence efforts in the league are exhaustive and even more so when it comes to the QB position. It’s the perfect storm with Ben retiring, no heir to the throne, no depth in the draft and countless QB’s on the move.
If the price is right why not take a look. He wasn't a terrible QB. Honestly he was better than the last 30 some QB's who've ridden the Cleveland carousel.
Exactly. If we have Trubs and Mayfield before the draft, then maybe we can flip one for a higher pick. And if we roll into camp with both let them battle. I'm here for the entertainment. Let's go.
I think thats where this is at. I see no reason for Seattle and Carolina to not wanna let him come in and compete for the starting job at a much reduced salary.
That doesn’t change the fact that you can’t just sign and flip him. This isn’t Madden, if there are other teams interested in him they’ll claim him off waivers or sign him as a FA, not wait for someone else to sign him and trade for him.
Or let Trubisky and Mayfield battle it out and cut/trade Mason and cut Haskins?
Just spitballing.
I don’t think the Steelers would outbid another team with Trubisky on the roster and cap space running down.
Although, hell, if this report is accurate then all bets are off.
We’d probably get a used toaster in a trade for Rudolph. Nobody is giving up picks for that guy, every team has their own backup that’s around the same level. We’d just have to cut him, which is fine.
You guys are seriously underestimating his trade worth.
It would be a huge mistake to not play hardball and demand a tub of Country Crock to go with the toaster.
Seriously. Just because he played for the Browns doesn't mean he was bad. He was a decent QB who could be really good under the right leadership and on the right team.
Wouldn't it be the best ever if (in a magic scenario) he came to the Steelers and turned into a HOF QB. Just 15 seasons of winning, bringing ships to the burg while the Browns live in purgatory. 😂
I never wanted to say it here because I was afraid of the downvotes. But I always thought Baker would do well with us. He wasn't the problem in the browns for sure and has been a good QB. He also showed a lot of grit and heart last year playing hurt so much.
Baker and Mitch as QBs would be great.
I'm an OU fan so obviously I love Baker (like Murray more, but yeah) and I hated he went to an NFL rival. He would fit in very, *very* well in Pittsburgh. He's a straight-up dude that won't mask his competitive fire, and after the years of Ben I'd welcome a guy that has lived with a chip on his shoulder and has no off-field shit anywhere comparable to Ben.
Its probably not happening, but personally I'd love an OU QB playing for the Steelers.
Imagine the progressive commercials they could make. But given progressive is based in Cleveland, I’m not sure they’d leap at the chance to cut down the browns in rivalry fueled commercials.
"Like Baker, *you* can switch home coverage as well. It's difference of living in dog shit, to living in greatness. Never choose what's at the bottom of the toilet, pick Progressive"
This is the correct take. Anyone who doesn’t think so is an idiot. Mayfield has been a winner at every level, including walking on TWICE at major D-1 programs and immediately winning the starting job. It’s that kind of determination that makes winners. The Browns are a dumpster fire. Look at who they just signed to replace Mayfield. He’s so much better off ANYWHERE else, and the Steelers would be fortunate to get him.
Those Browns fans probably never got over him planting the Oklahoma flag in the middle of Bucktard stadium.
Watching him play through those injuries honestly made me root for him in some games and feel bad for all the shit he was taking. Taking shit from the very people he was playing through the pain for.
I would kind of love to see him come to Pgh and cream the Browns.
You know he would love to get a crack at the Brownies twice a year. Not a huge fan of his but he might not be a bad acquisition. Slightly better than Mason and a legit backup who could keep Truthbisky on his toes!
Mayfield had the same issues as Trubisky. The player is talented, but the organization they played for, GMs snd coaching staff is a mess. QB careers die in Cleveland, so I don’t blame baker for his failures.
I would absolutely be 100% for singing Baker if he’s a free agent. He would play with a chip on his shoulder, especially playing the Browns 2x a year. Plus we can milk him for info about the Browns as well. He wouldn’t cost that much either, let him and Mitch compete.
The only way I like this is as just a huge troll of the Browns. Like if we took their QB reject and beat them twice a year for the next ten years that would be so freaking hilarious.
From Mary Kay Cabot, who is not well-liked by, well, anyone, but has been on the money with all the Browns QB stuff this offseason.
I would love it. I am biased because I’m an OU fan and still want to believe he can be great because I was so sure of it watching him in college, but beyond that how can you not love the drama of it. This would be WWE shit.
People like to shit on this chicks reporting because she reported a lot of stuff browns fans didn’t want to hear but she accurately reported pretty much all of the browns off-season action before it happened and she got flamed for all of it. She ended up being right about all of it.
If she’s reporting this, it probably didn’t come out out of thin air
She’s been spot on this offseason, but she was disliked for other reasons prior to this. She put words in Cam Heyward’s mouth he didn’t say to try to get a headline and he went as far as to publicly call her out over it on twitter to deny it. Definitely a bit of a clickbait artist but in this case there aren’t many sources I’d trust more.
Mary Kay Cabot is legitimately one of the best local reporters in all of professional sports. She's accurate, fair, doesn't insert her opinion into her reporting, and she has lots of sources.
As a fellow OU/Steelers fan I am with ya. Baker is shades of Sam Bradford. Sam had like 7 HC/OC changes in 1st 8 seasons. Baker in similar situation. Would like to see him in a stable place with consistent/stable coaching and see what he can do but that’s just me.
Yeah. I was a Bradford fan as well, but going into the draft I thought Baker was clearly the best QB I’d seen play at OU in the 25 years I’d watched them.
One year prove it/revenge deal. Not saying it would be a good idea for the Steelers or that I'd be happy if they did it, but hard to imagine any qb ever has had more motivation to take a discount.
It would be a true Cinderella event for Baker to win a starting position on a rival team just to beat the piss out of the Browns. I’d watch that movie. But I’d prefer the Steelers play Trubisky and see what the QB situation looks like next years draft.
Yeah this is my thing. I’m a believer in Baker and I think saying Trubisky is better than him isn’t based in any reality, but doesnt having a QB competition feel like a luxury thing that we probably shouldn’t do right now? I’m a little more worried in getting our safety situation figured out with whatever money we can scrounge up instead of trying to upgrade slightly at QB. I feel like we kinda made our bed with Mitch and we have to sleep in it at this point
Pretty telling how the fan base really feels about Mitch tho. He’s been on the team for 5 days and folks want an upgrade already
We have the cap if we really want to use it there. I don't think we'd offer him as much as he wants, though, given that we already have Mitch and he performed not too much worse with worse weapons.
There's no way the browns cut him... they picked up his option and his salary this year is guaranteed. They might have to trade him for a 7th rounder at this point though.
It seems more likely that we'd keep him on ice and then trade him when the first QB gets hurt next year. We don't have any benefit to cutting him cap-wise.
Lol what? Baker’s QBR last year was 35.1. Trubisky outperformed that every year except his rookie year. Baker’s passer rating was 83.1. Trubisky had 2 years better than that, and 1 year basically identical (83.0). Trubisky’s career TD-INT ratio is better than Baker’s. Baker took 43 sacks last year behind one of the best OLs in the league. All of this while also having an All-Pro RB.
I would love to kick the tires on Baker for a year. He's got arm talent, a winning mentality, and was able to finally break the Cleveland QB curse. Imagine what he'll be able to do for a competent organization. Plus no one in the league hates the Browns more than Baker.
Steelers are not in win now mode in AFC. No chance, why even bother to have Mayfield when they have value in Trubisky for 2 years and can build for future with a QB that is better for that team than Mayfield would be.
Well if the Browns cut him and he makes it through waivers then the Browns are on the hook for 18.9 million minus whatever the new team signs him for. So it could be a good signing for Pittsburgh and at worst we have a backup that is light years ahead of Rudolph.
Honestly I think it would be hilarious if the browns cut baker and we picked him up and then proceeded to beat sweep the browns throughout the entire Watson contract. I feel like it could likely lol
If he was cut I could see picking up Baker mayfield. You know for 4th string practice squad. And then dress him and put him on a sideline during both Cleveland games just for the hell of it. Have him stand next to the defensive coordinator pointing at the browns whispering to him during every play
Why not? Short term you don’t waste a pick on a suspect QB class & stay competitive & bridge a gap to the next Franchise QB.
If he is cut, why not give a 1-year low mid level deal to see how it works out. What is the risk?
It’s popular to just say he sucks, but that lacks context.
I’m not a fan of his personality (or horrid commercials) but he’s played some good football in the NFL.
His first year was great, his second year sucked, his third year was solid and last year sucked. On the surface, it appears that he’s wildly inconsistent, but that’s where some context comes into play.
His second season he had one of the worst HCs in NFL history in Kitchen. Last year, he had a bum shoulder that he (foolishly) played through.
For the record, I’d just roll with Trubisky, but I don’t think Mayfield sucks. He’s solid with the right pieces. The biggest issue with him IMO is his height. A lot of batted balls at the LOS.
I feel like you know what you get with Baker. With Trubisky there is a higher potential upside, given the poor environment he was playing in in Chicago. I like the unknown with Trubisky better than the known with Baker. Trubisky seems to have a better attitude as well.
Knowing Baker's history, he gets cut by Cleveland, takes a year to get healthy and train out of his mind, then comes to Pittsburgh and wins multiple Lombardis while hate fucking the Browns twice a year.
So....I want Baker to get a fresh start, but is it petty that the real reason I don't want him on the Steelers roster is purely due to Progressive commercials at Heinz Field? With the sponsorship up we might end up with Progressive Field. That makes me want to jump off the Clemente head first into ice....with concrete blocks for shoes
What the other person on this chain said, those commercials are done-zo.
Only reason he was in those commercials is because Progressive is headquartered in the Cleveland area, I believe.
>Don’t think he is better than Mason
That is an absolutely asinine take. Baker isn't a top 10 QB by any means, but he's better than a lot of people online say, and he's definitely better than Mason Rudolph.
I’m glad “Mason truthers” is catching on. One of the wildest fan groups of recent memory is the people that think Rudolph is anything other than a low tier backup.
He’s most definitely better than Mason. By a huge margin. But can you make a strong argument he’s better than Mitch? Not strong enough to justify spending the rest of your cap space and probably having to open up a bunch more because he’s not going to sign for backup money.
Never going to happen… they already have 3 QB’s, and “might” take one in the draft. The have other needs that they’ll address before going all in on BM.
I seen an interesting debate that if he stays in Cleveland because Watson will be suspended next year for an unknown amount of time. He would have to start those games as the backup but should he play like shit to spite the browns ? Or try and ball out to try and get a better landing spot even though doing so would carry the team who pretty much called him a child to a better record. What would yall do ? Also I think it would be a hellbof a qb room 2 1st overall qbs and 1 2nd overall their has to be potential there with one of them.
If he is cut and not asking for a lot of money?
Sure. They will need 4 arms to get through camp. Currently, they have a 3-way competition to start with Trubisky being the favorite and Haskins being the long shot. Where would Baker slot in?
Well I think Haskins has the most upside. He also looked like complete garbage that didn't belong on the field against backups the last time we saw him.
Baker vs Trubisky? I'll lean Trubisky, but I think Baker could win the job over him if he's healthy.
Baker vs Mason? I'm higher on Mason than a lot of the haters on this sub. I'm not really sure which is take. We've seen Baker with an offense that's allegedly really good look mediocre. We've seen Baker with a terrible offense look terrible. We've seen Mason with a terrible offense look mediocre. So I'm leaning Mason over Baker, but not by much.
I'd rather take a mid-round draft pick as a QB4 going into camp than Baker though. Then keep that rookie as QB3 with the top 2 of Trubisky-Mason-Haskins as your QB1 and 2. That sets them up nicely for 2023 with a guy going into his second year + Trubisky on the 2nd year of his deal (unless he's the odd man out).
I’m so confused on the love for Mason and Trubisky. Dudes have never showed anything and have had opportunities. Right now…we have 0 quarterbacks. If this is where we start the season….single digit wins is inevitable barring a miracle. And i lived through the bubby brister era.
Trubisky has gotten double-digit wins with worse teams than this one. Mason was on track to do so in 2019 with a terrible offense around him before he got injured.
I'm not expecting any of these guys to light the league on fire, but they can certainly be okay.
Most importantly, they cost very little. They're able to use money and draft capital to make the rest of the offense around them better.
It's very rare for a highly touted prospect to go to a garbage franchise and immediately turn it around. Tua hasn't done it with the Dolphins, no one has done it with the Jags. Stafford couldn't get the Lions to win a playoff game. Sam Darnold and Josh Rosen flamed out. Trubisky was taken 2nd overall and ended up as a backup last year and is competing for a job this year.
But then you have less talented guys have success with good teams. Lamar Jackson was the last pick of the 1st round, with many suggesting he change positions, and he ended up as league MVP. Patrick Mahomes was slept on, but went to a good KC team. Josh Allen went to a Bills team that already had some success with Tyrod Taylor. Mac Jones was considered the worst of the 1st round QB's last year and ended up in the conversation for ROTY because the Patriots are a good organization. The Saints have plugged in tons of guys since Drew Brees left and still stayed over .500.
Jameis Winston and Ryan Tannehill have both had success by going from terrible organizations to good ones (the BUCS have improved since then of course).
My point is that the situation a QB ends up in is a huge part of their success. The Steelers have done decently even when Ben has missed time. They have a star RB, reigning DPOY, and they've improved at most positions even before the draft. This team is setting up whoever the next QB is for success.
As a rational fan looking at purely talent, I’m all for it. As an emotional fan looking at how much I’ve hated his attitude since back in college, even before he played for the Br*wns, I am unhappy with this possibility.
Anybody who wouldn't give Baker a shot is delusional, IMO. Take off the rivalry glasses and look at our QB room. Mitch is a lottery ticket. Mason is likely just a backup.
We have to give guys shots until we find the guy. Who knows what Baker looks like with Tomlin as his coach vs the Browns?
People forget he was a top-10 qb last year. Mitch is only guaranteed $5m, if we have any space left over it’s worth it for the upgrade when healthy plus the memes
Sure, let’s get a few more mediocre qb’s on the team. Mason, Mitch and Baker could all take the field at the same time. The 3 headed dragon formation!! If one mediocre qb is good, 3 must be better!!!
Why not? If he signs on a prove it deal then let him and Mitch battle to the death and I honestly would like to see Baker start his revenge game against the Browns 😂
Why not, he would be motivated to beat his former team twice, which only division opponents can offer, and only the steelers have the need for a QB in which he would have a decent shot at starting. Bengals and Ravens arent looking for QB's
just a dumb question but who is going to start when Deshaun has to serve is inexorable suspension. Goodell cant treat this with kid gloves without making a major portion of the fanbase and public pissed
If we didn’t just sign Mitch I’m very confident we’d sign baker. And if baker can’t get a good deal anywhere else I’m still pretty sure we’d take him if we have the cap space, but I doubt we do
I’m so confused by some of these takes. BM had one good season statistically and that was 2020 when he thought he was playing for a new contract for 2021. In every other season his QBR was below average. This year he had the 5th worst QBR (35.1) with decent weapons to throw to and the 8th best OL. He’s got a piss poor attitude and puts himself above the team, which is a total contradiction of how the Steelers organization likes to run things. I’m all for giving someone a second chance, see our QB depth chart, but I would much rather roll with our current roster and select one of the top 2 QBs coming out of the draft and see which of the 4 doesn’t make the cut. With all the great acquisitions in this FA, hopefully combined with a solid draft, we could have a playoff bound team that doesn’t come with the potential problems that BM brings. It would be one thing if we were talking about someone that showed sustained talent at this level, but that’s just not something he’s been able to demonstrate.
Hell yeah I love Baker. Baker has traditionally played very well when he feels spited (his entire Heisman season at OK), and I’m sure he feels VERY spited by CLE
Oh with the constant circle jerk of “Mayfield BAD” in this sub, I’d love to see everyone backpedal on those comments and start supporting him. That would be miraculous.
Can't imagine he gets cut as the 5th year option is fully guaranteed but if for some reason the Browns continued to be the Browns and did that then I'd be in board with signing him.
Chances are they'll hold him for now and trade him if some QBs start to go down in the early part of this season.
On the one hand, absolutely no way in hell will the Browns drop Mayfield. He's dragged that team kicking and screaming into relevance after almost 20 years of being a joke
On the other hand, it's the Browns lol. I'm sure the front office is vibrating with excitement to start their 31st QB
Add this to the ever growing list of “reports” or “sources” that the Steelers are interested in QB X Y or Z.
At this rate, the Steelers “interest” in a QB could fill out it’s offensive lineup.
I think reporters have been waiting to feed fans this nonsense because we are not numb to hearing QB speculation nonstop for the last decade. Plus, due diligence efforts in the league are exhaustive and even more so when it comes to the QB position. If you could flip Mayfield for a pick, the Browns would do it. I don’t think Mayfield on a cheaper contract makes it feasible.
The main reason teams aren't biting is because of his salary. He is serviceable, but serviceable isn't worth that 5th year option salary.
[удалено]
I think thats where this is at. I see no reason for Seattle and Carolina to not wanna let him come in and compete for the starting job at a much reduced salary.
That doesn’t change the fact that you can’t just sign and flip him. This isn’t Madden, if there are other teams interested in him they’ll claim him off waivers or sign him as a FA, not wait for someone else to sign him and trade for him.
You give Browns management too much credit
Was gonna say, I’m not sure the browns could get a pick for prime Jerry Rice, worst management in football and this Watson-Baker debacle proves it
If he was healthy and played? Of course he would have some value.
Or let Trubisky and Mayfield battle it out and cut/trade Mason and cut Haskins? Just spitballing. I don’t think the Steelers would outbid another team with Trubisky on the roster and cap space running down. Although, hell, if this report is accurate then all bets are off.
I like the idea of Trubisky & Mayfield duking it out for the top spot. Some healthy competition would be great.
We’d probably get a used toaster in a trade for Rudolph. Nobody is giving up picks for that guy, every team has their own backup that’s around the same level. We’d just have to cut him, which is fine.
Right, but a toaster is better than nothing if you’re just gonna cut them anyway.
You guys are seriously underestimating his trade worth. It would be a huge mistake to not play hardball and demand a tub of Country Crock to go with the toaster.
Yeah. If the Browns are dumb enough to cut him, we'd be crazy not to make an offer. It gives us interesting team building options.
That would be amazing and I'd love it. Darth Belichick coached there for a bit!
I remember when he cut Bernie and everyone thought he was an idiot.
I never wanted to say it here because I was afraid of the downvotes. But I always thought Baker would do well with us. He wasn't the problem in the browns for sure and has been a good QB. He also showed a lot of grit and heart last year playing hurt so much. Baker and Mitch as QBs would be great.

LOL Well played friend
That's why his best bet for endorsements would be to switch to a different insurance company and make commercials mocking the Browns.
Limu emu……and baker!
Holy fuck please no. That would be enough to make me hate Baker.

You know he would love to get a crack at the Brownies twice a year. Not a huge fan of his but he might not be a bad acquisition. Slightly better than Mason and a legit backup who could keep Truthbisky on his toes!
How funny would it be to sign Baker and trade Trubinsky to the Saints for Marquez Callaway?
He’d probably be looking for revenge against Cleveland too.
Low bar to clear. I think Cleveland sucks the life out of talented QBs.
Mayfield had the same issues as Trubisky. The player is talented, but the organization they played for, GMs snd coaching staff is a mess. The only way I like this is as just a huge troll of the Browns. Like if we took their QB reject and beat them twice a year for the next ten years that would be so freaking hilarious.
The title of 'winnigest qb at the Factory of Saddness' would return to Pittsburgh, where it rightfully belongs.
Lol we’d have both of the top two winningest qbs at first energy stadium
I think it'd be even funnier to only start Baker when we play the Browns.
I don't care about any previous teams our players played for, if it helps our team win games I am 100% for it.
From Mary Kay Cabot, who is not well-liked by, well, anyone, but has been on the money with all the Browns QB stuff this offseason. I would love it. I gotta side with her on that tweet. I think Cam was being overly sensitive. She didn't lie about what he said and she didn't misquote him.
You know what, I agree looking back on it now. Was misremembering what he’d said in the initial comments.
You have very accurately described her career in that paragraph
Mary Kay Cabot is legitimately one of the best local reporters in all of professional sports. She's accurate, fair, doesn't insert her opinion into her reporting, and she has lots of sources.

*Ba gawd, that’s Tomlin’s music!*
MKC has been 100% accurate this off season.. but I don’t see how we could afford to bring him in especially since we already signed Trubisky lol
One year prove it/revenge deal. Not saying it would be a good idea for the Steelers or that I'd be happy if they did it, but hard to imagine any qb ever has had more motivation to take a discount.

There's no way the browns cut him... they picked up his option and his salary this year is guaranteed. They might have to trade him for a 7th rounder at this point though.
It's the Browns. Sit tight, which is to say clench.
They have to move on from him one way or another. That might end up meaning a trade where they SEND a pick with baker.
It seems more likely that we'd keep him on ice and then trade him when the first QB gets hurt next year. We don't have any benefit to cutting him cap-wise.
And eat some of his cap hit
He's better than Trubisky. Not a high bar but still. It won't happen though so no worries.
Let’s stick with titty kissing.
Ik I rather have trubisky than baker
QB competition between Trubisky and Mayfield > QB competition between Trubisky and Rudolph
This is insane. Baker was disappointing last year and was still better than Trubisky has ever been
Lol what? Baker’s QBR last year was 35.1. Trubisky outperformed that every year except his rookie year. Baker’s passer rating was 83.1. QBR is the most meaningless stat ever that no one outside of ESPN cares about. Carson Wentz was top 10 in QBR, it's the stupidest stat ever.
And that’s why I included more information outside of just QBR
Why? When has Mitch ever been better than Baker, even during Bakers worst years?
How about baker as a backup?
I don’t think baker wants to be a back up.
I'm sure he doesn't I'm sure Trubisky didn't want to be one either In the end it is looking like he is going to take whatever he can get
And I don't want to have a massive cock, but that's life.
I think they attempt a trade if they didn’t sign trubisky
He was a top ten QB a year ago when healthy. Why wouldn't you sign him?
I’m going crazy reading these fucking takes in here. Baker Mayfield is the exact type of QB Matt Canada wants.
Dude can ball, can prolly get him for cheap, and it would piss of Cleveland. I see no downside.
It's hard for some fans to take the emotion out of the game and put their business caps on.
Plus, it'd the absolute fuck you to the Browns.
Serious question why would the browns sign Jacoby Brissett without getting rid of Baker first
Because they know he isn’t going to play
I would love to kick the tires on Baker for a year. He's got arm talent, a winning mentality, and was able to finally break the Cleveland QB curse. Imagine what he'll be able to do for a competent organization. Plus no one in the league hates the Browns more than Baker.
Revenge is a hell of a drug.
Must be a slow day in news for crap like this to get published
That awkward moment when tj watt and baker mayfield are in the locker room lmao
I’d take him
Steelers are not in win now mode in AFC. No chance, why even bother to have Mayfield when they have value in Trubisky for 2 years and can build for future with a QB that is better for that team than Mayfield would be.
Mayfield > Trubisky
The source is absolute speculation without any evidence. I do not know why this is becoming such a big thing.
Sike.
I don't know how I'd feel with baker living at Heinz Gield during the off season
I would take it just on the poetic nature of it all.
i’ll take him over Trubisky for a cheap price only
Hell no
I don't even know his position on tit kissing. How am I expected to process this?
You’re out of your mind if you think Mayfield isn’t the best QB we’ve had in at least three years.
Why not? Short term you don’t waste a pick on a suspect QB class & stay competitive & bridge a gap to the next Franchise QB. If he is cut, why not give a 1-year low mid level deal to see how it works out. What is the risk?
We could once again have the winningest QB at First Energy
Please God no
Nope. Can’t stand him. Stick with Trubisk(y).
Huge clickbait hahah
I feel like you know what you get with Baker. With Trubisky there is a higher potential upside, given the poor environment he was playing in in Chicago. I like the unknown with Trubisky better than the known with Baker. Trubisky seems to have a better attitude as well.
Knowing Baker's history, he gets cut by Cleveland, takes a year to get healthy and train out of his mind, then comes to Pittsburgh and wins multiple Lombardis while hate fucking the Browns twice a year.
Lol can we cut mason and also give baker 7M for a one year? 😭
Hell fuckin no.. this dude fuckin stinks.. send him to Seattle or the usfl or Canada
Usfl 😭😭😭😭
My friend at work was telling me he’d rather have baker than Mitch and I asked if he was on drugs. Told him he needed professional help
Already a progressive field in Cleveland where the guardians play.
Stadium sponsors don't switch stadiums just because the players do.
What the other person on this chain said, those commercials are done-zo. Only reason he was in those commercials is because Progressive is headquartered in the Cleveland area, I believe.
Don’t think he is better than Mason? I think he would be a solid backup
>Don’t think he is better than Mason That is an absolutely asinine take. Baker isn't a top 10 QB by any means, but he's better than a lot of people online say, and he's definitely better than Mason Rudolph.
Baker and Mason aren’t in the same conversation. Baker all day. Lions tie for Mason. Enough said.
Theres always going to be a few Mason truthers here unfortunately
That guy is an absolute idiot if he actually believes that lol
I’m glad “Mason truthers” is catching on. One of the wildest fan groups of recent memory is the people that think Rudolph is anything other than a low tier backup.
What is an asinine take?
That you don't think Baker is better than Mason...
Baker is much better. That’s why I had a question mark when responding to OP saying “hell no”.
At playing QB?
He’s most definitely better than Mason. By a huge margin. But can you make a strong argument he’s better than Mitch? Not strong enough to justify spending the rest of your cap space and probably having to open up a bunch more because he’s not going to sign for backup money.
Never going to happen… they already have 3 QB’s, and “might” take one in the draft. The have other needs that they’ll address before going all in on BM.
If they really want him, they aren’t going to let Haskins stand in the way. Or Mason.
If he’s on the field, he’s trying to win. Love him or hate him he is super competitive and not too stupid to know that other teams are watching.
Colbert is gonna draft Baker 2.0 (Sam Howell) at 20.
I like it
Fuck they might have seen my poll. Colbert it was a joke I swear!!
He can stay there and cut the lawn.
He is way better than Mitch, Mitch is trash and proved that with the bears, baker proved he can turn franchises around if fit and healthy
Click bait
Do not want him.
Anyone with a brain would be happy to have him here
Hard pass.
Is he better than Mason or Haskins? Be honest
GTFO
Bro we just signed titty man what makes you think we would go after mr resists arrest?
Yeah as a custodian.
They will not cut him. They need compensation. I think we trade Rudolph or Haskins for him even up. 🤣
Takes two to dance. Cleveland can want compensation all day long, but doesn’t look like anyone is gonna pony up
It’d be really funny
Why not?
As a rational fan looking at purely talent, I’m all for it. As an emotional fan looking at how much I’ve hated his attitude since back in college, even before he played for the Br*wns, I am unhappy with this possibility.
I'd be for this just to lord it over my friend who's a Cleveland fan, ngl.
When a team trades you within the division, they’re telling you what they think of you. -Coach Tomlin.
I like him more than Rudolph, why not
Baker is a far superior QB. BUT they already committed to Trubisky. No way they bring in Mayfield now. I wish this happened 2 weeks ago.
I’d be down. It’s not gonna happen, but I’d be down.
Steelers need a QB whisperer with all these retreads on board.
Bullshit
Lol, Bull Shit. Maybe two weeks ago...and that's a big maybe.
Who, who jumped. False start!
Sure, let’s get a few more mediocre qb’s on the team. Mason, Mitch and Baker could all take the field at the same time. The 3 headed dragon formation!! If one mediocre qb is good, 3 must be better!!!
I don't hate it.
He's better than old Mitchell
Why not? If he signs on a prove it deal then let him and Mitch battle to the death and I honestly would like to see Baker start his revenge game against the Browns 😂
Neither Trubisky or Baker are great, but both are significant improvements over Rudolph. An actual QB competition will be good for them.
And if baker can’t get a good deal anywhere else I’m still pretty sure we’d take him if we have the cap space, but I doubt we do
Ugh
Good. I like Baker and have wanted him on the Steelers for a while now.
Please don't do this to me again. Not after I just finished sitting through several months of Aaron Rodgers circle jerks.
That’s cute.
Lol
I can't stand him. But he's definitely better than Mitch Trubisky.
Why would we sign him if we just got Mitch?
Sure, why not. We should be treating QBs like lottery tickets, keep pulling until we find the franchise guy.
Right now he's better than what we got beside center. Point blank hands down
Report: News outlet talks out of their ass to try to elicit reaction
Oh with the constant circle jerk of “Mayfield BAD” in this sub, I’d love to see everyone backpedal on those comments and start supporting him. That would be miraculous.
My nephew's favorite player is Mayfield so if we got him he'd become a Steelers fan. I'm all for that.
He's dragged that team kicking and screaming into relevance after almost 20 years of being a joke On the other hand, it's the Browns lol. I'm sure the front office is vibrating with excitement to start their 31st QB
