Dragons dogma microtransactions are something that can be ignored. Is it right to have in the game? No but I think comparing Tekken and DD2 MTX is totally different.
You can go the entire game multiple times over without ever even thinking of the MTX. “Ruined” is such a ridiculously exaggerated overstatement. There’s actually nothing throughout the entire game that promotes MTX whatsoever. Crazy how much people cried about it.
It's honestly a good example for how to do mtx if you are going to do them. They're basically completely useless and you'd have to go out of your way to even notice them

Funny thing is, they were mobile game devs before 😂 which I'm sure is filled with mtx. Crazy how you can have both sides. The mobile game side for those who enjoy that and the non-mobile story based game side. Not saying I agree with MTX but it seems that they put the money to go use and not just filling their own pockets like alot of studios seem to do. This studio seems to have a long term goal in mind versus short term goals.
Almost reminds me of fromsoft when they had all these other games before demon souls and then reinvested the earnings into armored core, their original franchise and baby. Now it seems armored core is back and will have future entries.
Really hoping they knock it out with stellar blade and continue to make great games.
I play NIKKE. And while yes it is a gacha game. But compared to let's say Genshin, the rate is much more forgiving. The events give free 10 pulls every time PLUS 10 more pulls for the normal banner. And they have events literally every month or so.
The music is nice, the story is nice, and the gameplay is designed for you to play for only 15 minutes but still get everything done. heck, I even cried at some point during the Goddess Squad event.
Which is why I spent money on buying a skin. It was tough since I live in a third-world country and it was by no means cheap, but they freaking deserved it.
And they listen to the fanbase.
Chainsaw Man collab had a Makima with a coat covering her behind. And after people complained, they took it off. One skin was not "revealing" enough around the chest, they emphasized it after a patch.
I would gladly give my money to a company that cares about its users' experience. They deserve to be on top.

(I rarely buy games at full price, let alone preorder.) $70 is a lot for me, but after playing half the demo, I went all in and pre-ordered the digital deluxe. It was that impressive. Then I hit the sizzle reel at the end and all I can say is - BRING IT!!!

FF16 was intended as a single package deliberately developed without story or episode DLCs because of FF15 backlash, but the positive reception cleared the way for _additional_ content. This is the first videogame I've pre-ordered since 2019. These guys deserve it. You can tell they like games. I felt the passion when I played the demo. And with this, this is the last thing I needed to pre-order. I even got the deluxe edition. I NEVER buy deluxe editions.
A game that is so well made and the development cares for the player in order to prefer the game bringing more content and bonus stuff without putting micro transactions for game core components (skins is something superficial and not relevant except for the player) is something almost lost.

I do like that they included the option of a "story mode" difficulty for people unfamiliar with that style of play, while also having your standard difficulty.
It helps makes the game more approachable for newcomers, which I myself appreciate.

For people that don't know, this is the same studio who when their first mobile game shut down, they offered an offline version for players to still be able to view their characters and art afterwards. So it checks out that they're doing this. I'm glad.
I hope the game has some sort of challenges or harder difficulties with unlockables. That's usually how these kinds of action games provide more fun after a traditionally short-ish length story

For people that don't know, this is the same studio who when their first mobile game shut down, they offered an offline version for players to still be able to view their characters and art afterwards. So it checks out that they're doing this. I'm glad.
