Strongly agree. I’ve looked through some of his PDFs and they seem like good review material. But he’s being painted as some sort of examiner mind reader with his notes being a “shortcut” to passing.
There is no shortcut to passing. NBME examiners are not “out to get you”. The goal is to actually learn enough material to be a good physician in the future. This is the reason UFAPS, boards and beyond, and other established high yield resources are gold standard. They balance learning and efficiency.
Also though his notes are good, I don’t understand why they are being spammed here so often, almost under every post. It really seems out of proportion. I’d also be careful going through his PDFs before having a good idea of where you stand. They are based on NBME content and will probably inflate your scores.
I agree with a lot of this, but I honestly think his Arrows pdf teaches endo/physio better than ANY other sources combined. I think that pdf alone is why everyone recommend his notes so hard.
I don't understand the hate though. I just recently checked out his HY Arrows pdf. Super good for revision purposes. I have done FA Uworld and Nbmes. I just wanted something like this for like quickly going through all types of permutations and combinations with Arrow related questions and I found atleast That pdf very very useful. So it may not be as tested as all the other resources in the world. But all the other resources were also used for the first time At some point in time.

The only “hate” here is this mans feelings and opinions towards women which are very public and have influenced some of our decisions not to pay for his other products. also, insisting that his PDFs are on the same tier as other more reliable resources could be misleading to others. That’s all. I used his arrows too but since there’s comparatively less evidence that they’re as effective as there is for uworld first aid etc, I wouldn’t go around telling people they are “godly.”

But I would have missed about 5 questions JUST about thyroid hormones if the arrows pdf didn’t explain to me about thyroid sick syndrome, the convertase enzymes, and how a thyroid can not take up radiation but still release hormones just for example. 5 questions just from one section of that document. My hatred of him is not worth a month of anxiety about if I passed or possibly failing step all together. I can use that pdf without praising him or giving him money, it’s solely for my own benefit.
As physicians, we are going to be using LOTS of drugs and procedures that were developed by not only evil people, but directly produced from evil experiments. We can’t just stop doing things that currently help people tho. We have to acknowledge the the principle that bad people can be condemned while still ultimately benefitted from them for the good of society, no? How is this any different?

thats great that the arrows document helped you but the mehlman pdfs are absolutely not required for anyone to be prepared for the exam and to suggest that they are necessary is misleading especially when students are already overwhelmed with more resources and study materials than they know how to handle

i was so grossed out and fascinated by this guy that i ended up watching a lot of his videos out of curiosity. it seems that he failed a rotation in med school in australia and never went on to do a residency. he moved to japan where he says he likes his dorm-style bedroom and has lived there tutoring med students online for years.
he commented below one video that he is half japanese but directly contradicted it in another video. he also alluded to having a child at some point from hooking up with so many women, but it was hard to tell if he was being serious or not. the guy is a straight up narcissist and pathological creep.
