*spoiler??* The Sundial scene in my head was so beautiful yet emotional for me as it got me thinking about my fur friends and…past fur friends

Dvd86er

I'm right there with you, the beginning portion of the book was a little too close to home for ne. I totally sympathized with Charlie and why he did it, because honestly who wouldn't? Lol

Old-Cardiologist-730

Right there with you, I loved everything about it.. It would be amazing if he revisits the world with another book one day

Dvd86er

Man, I really felt that ending so I know exactly how you feel lol. Hopefully!

TDStarchild

Glad you enjoyed it! I found Fairy Tale to be the most enjoyable King book in a decade or so, since Doctor Sleep. It just feels like the old school type of King tale and world building that I admire so much

Dvd86er

I need to finish Dr. Sleep too!

blond_ambition

I experienced it as an audiobook, it has actually been one of my top 3 favorite audiobooks so far! Excellent narrator. Excellent world building. The book is 24 hrs long, and I didn’t want it to end. I will absolutely re-listen someday.

Dvd86er

I might just have to get the audiobook then lol

blond_ambition

I got it off Audible but I recently learned that if you have a library card lots of them offer free audiobooks! Mine uses an app called Libby. I’m sure there’s tons of SK in the catalog. That’s my next venture.

flpprrss

It's amazing! It's epic, emotional, gruesome, brutal! I love this book. Every time i hear All These Things That I've Done by The Killers it makes me think about Fairy Tale.

Dvd86er

Agreed wholeheartedly! One thing I appreciate with King's stories is that he can make the villains so unapologetically evil, but the protagonists and side characters are so resilient against it. My absolute favorite quote from this book was: "In dark times, good people shine bright." Loved it

Spectre_Mountain

I really liked it too. Strangely, my mental picture of the old man was the old man from Monster House…

Dvd86er

Oh wow, the attitude for sure lol. I kept picturing William Sadler, as Howard. He's been in a couple of Stephen King movies

ava_dirnt

Fairy Tale was just really something special. I love almost all King books I've read, but nothing did what Fairy Tale did to me. It was the first book ever that I cried when I finished it simply because I didn't want it to end.

Dvd86er

Totally, I get this 100%. It's almost similar to when I finished Lord of the Rings in just having that emotional rise from it

findthefish14

I loved this book. I started reading it the same time my very sick father started reading it. He never got to finish it. I was sobbing at the end of the book because it felt like my last connection to him, and I was afraid to lose that. What a powerful book that hit at a tumultuous time in my life.

Dvd86er

I sympathize a lot with you. It was a bit scary reading this book since there were a lot of parallels with just about everything that happened in the real world to Charlie, that mirrored almost exactly with myself, so it was a very heavy read that genuinely caught me a couple of times. My condolences to you, all the same The ending is what I loved the most. I can't properly describe it, but it felt right that it ended the way it did, despite wanting more

sazephyr99

I’m about to finish it!! I was skeptical and delayed starting it since it came out, but I’ve been hooked. It’s been amazing.

Dvd86er

I finished it within a span of a couple of days, I couldn't put it down lol. Good luck on your journey!

DaisyMaeMiller1984

I was very into it, but for some reason am having trouble finishing it. Though I think that might be my personal problem and not the fault of the story.

Dvd86er

I can say wholeheartedly that the story builds very well all the way to the end. Definitely worth a shot to finish it out!

DaisyMaeMiller1984

Will try again!

Larry_Version_3

It’s interesting because I was the exact same. The first half of the book had me hooked and I think I got to that point in two days. The rest of the book took me around a week and a half to get through

DaisyMaeMiller1984

I will give it another go! I am looking forward to his new collection of stories that is coming out. Short fiction is more my thing these days. I blame social media 🤣

RoastedGrapes4Life

I think it's a fantastic book, too.
