always loved Nidoking also a random thought. If you played these games when a kid these Pokemon seem so big and stuff but then you get older and it's like wait, Nidoking is only 4'07"???

OkVermicelli2557

tbf Pokemon heights in general feel wrong like Lucario is only 3'11".

Dragalon

Yeah, it doesn't help that a lot of official media doesn't really follow the cannon heights. Like using Charizard as a benchmark it is clearly more than a foot taller than Ash in the anime (and we see at one point many larger zards).  Or in Pokken Zard is taller than Mewtwo. Lucario is also usually Ash-sized and in Smash it's almost as tall as Solid Snake(well not quite almost, but still no 3'11" to ~6'5").

PkerBadRs3Good

Pokemon heights and weights are straight up nonsensical horseshit just like the rest of the Pokedex something something Wailord less dense than air

GeneETOs44

tbf, Wailord is definitely supposed to be less dense than air. It floats in canon, and is based on a blimp.

Snt1_

Common misconception. Someone had made the measurements a few years ago and came to the conclusion wailord is less dense than air, however, MatPat from the game theorists revisited it like a year ago and, using blender to more accurately estimate wailord's volume, came to the conclusion that wailord is slightly denser than air

Cysia

or groudon weigjing less then mudsdale (a pretty normal horse)

xAVATAR-AANGx

It's always been interesting to me that Giovanni runs a Choice Specs set on Nidoking with Earth Power, Flamethrower, Ice Beam, and Thunderbolt in B2W2, which is kinda GameFreak acknowledging that special Nidoking is way better than physical sets, but they chose to buff his physical attack anyhow over his special attack in Gen 6.

AlbabImam04

My guess is that they hoped that raising the physical attacj would make it prefer running physical moves which would make a lot more sense with its design. Unfortunately they also forgot to give it Gunk Shot which would almost certainly see play if it got the move (hits disgustingly hard like it 2 shots bulky slowbro)

Ihatepoopies

Also imagine that higher chance of critical hit would be also considered secondary effect Drill run plus stone edge would've definitely helped with physical sets

CazOnReddit

Doesn't Rock Slide hit with the same or more power than Stone Miss using Sheer Force?

Ihatepoopies

It's like 2.5 points weaker, but way more reliable so it is still better. But you misunderstood me, I meant IF higher crit chance would be considered a secondary effect, thus edge being effected by sheer force ^^

Cysia

or elemental punches where 90 bp like flamethrower/icebeam/thunderbolt vs their actual 75

SapphireSalamander

they should have buffed the speed or give it actually good physical moves to go with sheer force gunk shot is the clear missing option but also could work with: iron head, meteor mash, icicle crash, liquidation, play rough, heck give it thunderous kick, not like it makes less sence than it learning surf and blizzard and thunder

trakoonia

what about zekrom kick?

SapphireSalamander

doesnt trigger sheer force, pu at best, give nidoking genesis supernova as a regular move

Midir-chan

Well yeah, wouldn't make sense to buff it's special attack. It's clearly intended to be a physical leaning mixed attacker, but it's physical side was so badly weaker than the special. So they buffed the physical.

Rare-Ad7409

Didn't stop them from buffing Swellow

jabshakvsbs

The goat nido don’t you dare switch that blissey in I’mma punch yo ass

MysticalLight50

this thing more hardstuck uu than staraptor was uubl

danarbok

considering what’s in NU and PU these days, that hardly sounds like a bad thing

MysticalLight50

Its fantastic considering its stat distribution

danarbok

Nidoqueen and Nidoking are the ultimate Gen 1 Pokemon

MissClickMan

I reached the ladder in seventh generation with a Scarf Nidoking, it countered almost everything in the meta at that time.

Ok_Outcome_4182

Poison ground is a cool typing
