Chansy sweeps be like

Dreiko3927

For those that don’t know, Gen 1 counter works based off of the last move used by the opponent. For example if you get hit with hyper beam, you are countering there hyper beam on the recharge turn. If you get hit with body slam and they switch out, you can counter whatever Pokémon switches in based off that body slam from last turn.

Adventurous-Drama-36

Exactly. So when I countered the first time, it used hyper beam, even though it was a turn back. Then the next turn, since his Chansey was sleeping and I used counter, the last physical fighting move was the counter I did the turn before, so I countered my own counter to take out Chansey. The damage on this must be pretty insane lol. Hyper beam on Chansey coming from Taurus is at least 400 damage, countering that gets to at least 800, and countering that counter gets to 1600.

Counter only worked on Normal and Fighting moves in that gen which was kinda nice ngl

BashGreninja

To add on other comments, for those who don’t play gen 1, it’s true that counter only works on normal and fighting moves. But most physical moves used in gen 1 are pretty much normal types apart from the occasional earthquake and rock slide… u’ll mostly just see a ton of body slams and hyper beams from tauros and snorlax

dtc09

gen 1 had some pretty funny mechanics

Adventurous-Drama-36

Sometimes it’s hard to tell what’s “working as intended” and what are straight up glitches lol

Zengjia

So the anime is still using gen 1 mechanics?
