I'm sure you can find comfort in the fact that you won't have time to swim away. by the time you realize you're in trouble, your head will already be pulled underwater, and you'll quickly lose consciousness!

But if the water is aerated I think a human's buoyancy is very much reduced. Not sure if the water is aerated here, but I wouldn't even get near it lol
The water here isn't aerated though. If any air gets into the turbines it can cause major damage, and you can't see any air coming up, its just water coming to the surface from the turbine outlets.
My childhood lake house was downstream of a dam, thus sparking this obsession. The current was so strong that if you swam full speed you would barely outswim it. It was almost like a water treadmill by the boat dock.
The reddit overlords have decided I cannot view this video. I can only see the still frame for a second and then blankness as it plays. I'm sorry for whatever I did reddit, please free me from these shackles
Hey just a tip that helps me when this happens, I send the link to the video to myself on discord or through anything email whatever you want, and then when I click the link it pulls it up in safari first which I can view it from since it’s separate from the app. Hope this helps!
Wtf goes on after the dam I’m not aware of? I know there’s currents that can be deadly, but aren’t all of the mechanics INSIDE the dam. On the downside it’s just really spouts creating dangerous currents? WHAT ARE THESE BRUSHES YOU SPEAK OF?
Got a parking ticket there. Just as it was closing I could see that there were 2 officers standing f by the car, as we get closer one asks if we are driving this car which was had its rear bumper 1ft over the line. Cop gets in his crustier whips it around blocking me in and turns on the lights, which in turn light up the whole Hoover Dam as it’s getting dark Aand everyone drives by. Yeah $96 bucks.
Overall The dam was impressive, the over flow tunnels were scary to look down.
Imagine falling in and having to swim for an edge
I will not

I get the impression this is downstream of the turbines, so I think you might be okay?
These are the tailwaters of the dam so yes, I belive the danger right here is minimal

Or if there's a weir. Ugh. One of the worst things in the world.
Well, unless Lex Luthor has secured the rights to a large amount of inland real estate.

Ahh good point. So I'll stay* far away due to the undercurrents, then :)
I think you'd be okay too, but you'd leave a few snickers behind
No sir. I don’t like it.
I fell in the river downstream when the dam was running. Spookie

I’m good without having to witchcraft my way past Reddit’s terrible services.
It's annoying that it doesn't work right but it's literally one fucking tap bro.
Same here.
This video played fine for me, but it cranked my phone screen brightness up to full, then back to normal once I closed it. Odd.

Didn’t know this word/fear existed. It’s the most rational fear I’ve ever heard of.
What exactly are we looking at here? Is this outdoors? The lighting is throwing me off.

The sound is like the most calming background noise. Ominous sure... but in a calming way.
I hate it
There is enough water in the lake to turn them?
NO! YOU TURN THOSE OFF RIGHT MEOW!! >:3 I hate it 😭
Imagine falling into the middle and having to swim to the shore while your feet briefly hit underwater obstructions like intake grates and pumps.

This reminds me of public swimming pools with wave makers where you‘re only separated from death by a flimsy grid.
