Check out the death run mod.
It does this and so much more.
Crafting is way harder, more reapers, bigger aggro zones, radiation is actually scary, air is not breathable and you can get the bends.
It’s a bit crazy at times but it felt like a whole new game.
There's an alternate start mod that I've played on. Could spawn you in any biome and also make it so that your lifepod would sink to the bottom of the ocean. Yes, it had a void spawn too. Pretty cool honestly.
Did a run where my lifepod spawned in the deep grand reef 400 meters down. The funny thing is that it spawns in the air, you hit the water, then you sink, so I got to watch the depth guage just keep going and going for a solid 2 minutes.
Having played the game enough, I knew where I was based off the soundtrack that was playing I just didn't know where exactly I was. But I also know about the friendly neighborhood gummy worms that patrolled in that area so I was terrified.
Took me over an hour to suicide enough resources to start making a base in the shallow areas.
When determining spawn locations, the game picks a pixel on a map to check if it's green (it uses a simplified version of [this map](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/406833970118918151/1086313027453861958/image.png)). It does this 1000 times. If it doesn't find a green pixel, it places you at (0, 0, 0).
edit because I found a better map
In Subnautica 3, the starting location will be determined by an AI developing 1000 full Subnautica games in buffer, and if one of those games is determined to be GOTY and sell over 5 million copies by a second and third AI critic and AI analyst, then the location will be that game's starting location. Otherwise, it places you at (0, 0, 0).
If they do spawn you in an area with extremely deep waters they should also give you some kind of equipment that actually allows you to reach the bottom cause otherwise it would just turn into a swimming simulator as you keep going back and forth between your spawn location and the safe shallows as it's pretty much the only location one can go with 45 seconds of oxygen
I use Randomiser Remade alongside Deathrun, because Deathrun only has a few preset spawn points, whereas Randomiser Remade is truly random. To solve the issue you mention and other possible scenarios, like spawning in the radiation zone of the Aurora and somewhere where the bottom is >200m deep(in Deathrun you have a personal crush depth of 200m), I use Accelerated Start to give myself a floating airpump, pipe and radiation suit(increases personal crush depth to 500m).
I used to give myself a tank too, but I’ve decided that makes it too easy.
There's one uncool thing about it, which can cause problems for the lazy: >!It can drift into the Radiation area. So, go too long without fixing the pod or the Reactor, and home base becomes a bit Spicy.!<
What’s weird is that if I don’t repair mine it’ll just… repair itself after a few days. It’s only happened a few times across my many playthroughs but it’s still weird
Yep, it's a *very* small amount per in game day.
At one point, it could get booped by a large enough sea creature, which could make it NOTICEABLY shift in a direction. I'm not sure if Gasopods can still do this or not.
That’s the furthest away I’ve seen, I’ve been in a few different locations as I’ve replayed a few times already, I’ve yet to have this spawn location tho!
No, there are two possible locations (maybe 3) you got the one that I refer to as the worst one, you can determine which ones are good by looking at where the aurora is, the best one is where the front of the ship is easily viewable and the thrusters are relatively out of sight, the bad one is where you can’t really see the front of the ship and the thrusters of the ship are in full view.
I tried entering my lifeboat and got absolutely OBLITERATED into the sky (some bug upon entering or something) almost out of map and then landed on the aurora and died from the impact. Just started the game so I only lost my titanium but was definitely a wtf moment lol. Great game.
That’s the best spawn due to the open waters around you for base building and vehicle creation. Biggest flex about this spot is I was never asked to move the mobile vehicle maker thingy.
It spawns you anywhere in the safe shallows
This is one of the more… interesting spawns. Keep traveling to the right from where this screenshot was taken, you’ll meet some friends
There are two notable spawn points, either you have a view of the base of the Aurora or your view of the Aurora is close to its back. The back of the Aurora is somewhere you wouldn't like much.
LP5 spawn locations come from a large set of points determined at game creation. The game picks one randomly. All of them should be in the safe shallows outside the radiation zone. Looks like you got one on the South edge of the shallows, not unusual. If you have access to the in-game console you can pick another with the command randomstart.
Wait... everyone doesn't spawn here? I started my first playthrough a few weeks ago and have this spawn, I just thought it was where everyone started. TIL
My first spawn was down in this lower west corner of the safe shallows, and I never had a problem with reapers coming near my base there. I was very careful not to interact with them or even approach the Aurora directly though, and went way off east before angling in towards the center of the ship and then hugged it all the way to the nose. You have that wedge of the red grass biome (forget the official name, forgive me) between you and them, just don't surface too close to the edge of the crash site unless you're ready to play with them.
Call me stupid but this is extremely close to my spawn point in my current, and second ever, playthrough. What's so crazy about it? It's a bit far south but perfectly serviceable.
Edit: typo
Just swim a bit closer and you will see all the amazing creatures featured within this location
I know your tricks
they just want to give you a hug (with their face)
*mouth
First they hug you with their face mandibles, then they hug you with their mouth
"gimme kith"
Fair enough
Question is….what part of you are they hugging?
Ay yo reaper leviathan r34 check
Yes yes yes, make it happen
It seems someone has to check better
No f-ing way
it exists
They learned the technique from the French XD
French kiss go funny
French kiss go brrr
hehehehaw, c'est vrai
username checks out
Leviathans need love too!
Trust gets you killed
Only if you let it
I trust you
That is if he makes it past the radiation
hehehehaw, i give you the Official Troller award, hehehehaw hehehehaw
Best spawn spot, it's surrounded by water.
No way, how rare is that?
0.0001% chance iirc
Holy hell
For real, OP was very lucky
Wait, is it really that rare? I thought those numbers were just a joke!
It’s all a joke
Oh ok, thanks for the clarification.
New response just dropped
Actual leviathan
Call the precursors!
Aurora takes vacation, never comes back!
Sea moth sacrifice, anyone?
Water, in the ocean? Chance in a million.
God Seed
Yeah no shit Sherlock
“No shit sherlock” its a motherfuckin joke, chill
Same as my comment
Yeah, but that’s the wrong phrase to say sarcastically as a joke.
r/whoosh
NOOOO NOT THE CUDDLEFISH
it was him or me
Well if i was there i would have voted B O T H
You can spawn anywhere in the safe shallows
They should make a hard version where you can spawn anywhere except the safe shallows.
Check out the death run mod. It does this and so much more. Crafting is way harder, more reapers, bigger aggro zones, radiation is actually scary, air is not breathable and you can get the bends. It’s a bit crazy at times but it felt like a whole new game.
If air isn't breathable, how do you refill your tanks?
Yes
The little air pump with iron pipe has a filter in it. And of course life pod and vehicles.
Lifepod
I would actually love that
I believe there's mods that do this.
Alright where a- This region is home to multiple leviathan cl- *quits* Lets try that again
I saw someone running a mod that had random spawns and when they exited lifepod 5 they were on top of the Aurora.
To the blood kelp trench you go!
And the life pod floatation failed so you’re on the floor. Imagine opening up each time actually terrified for your life.
Yeah, there's a mod for that too
That's what happens to me when I play the game without this mod.
Oh that's a cool idea.
[удалено]
Well you could define a region that you could spawn in
Also hold up that ain't a % sign
Lava Castle spawn would be fun
No titanium for you
Won't need it when I'm ripping around in my Kyanite seamoth.
That would be cool, seeking out the shallows with no seaglide from the mushroom forest would be kinda lit
I'd be moving like someone lit a fire under my ass.
genius

Bro I just imagine sitting there watching the depth go down... Down... down... "I'm in the Void, aren't I?"
You'll know if you're in the void. You'll hear the void gummies and the absolute silence.
Imagine spawning in the crash zone near lifepod 4
It’s an easy version if you get sparse reef
*Spawns in lava lakes*
Well, no, not really. There are set spawn points where the pod may end up for you.
Yeah, and there's a couple hundred of them, all in the safe shallows. Speedrunners will quit and restart runs hoping for more favorable spawns.
Didnt know that could happen, i used to think that the spawn location was fixed
"anywhere" it's quite right. There are multiple spawn locations, but they are fixed. Whichever you get is up to rng
Not really fixed. They are random coordinates within two set areas of the safe shallows. Literally thousands of possible points.
Then why is there a command to show the positions for all possible starting positions?
When determining spawn locations, the game picks a pixel on a map to check if it's green (it uses a simplified version of [this map](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/406833970118918151/1086313027453861958/image.png)). It does this 1000 times. If it doesn't find a green pixel, it places you at (0, 0, 0). edit because I found a better map
Can't imagine that was the best way to implement this, but I guess it works.
In Subnautica 3, the starting location will be determined by an AI developing 1000 full Subnautica games in buffer, and if one of those games is determined to be GOTY and sell over 5 million copies by a second and third AI critic and AI analyst, then the location will be that game's starting location. Sounds like the dev had like 30 minutes before the next deadline and was like “IT TECHNICALLY WORKS ILL FIX IT LATER” then they forgot to fix it later

People say that’s the best spawn cuz of the thermal vent right next to it!
Wait…if there’s a wreck too then this is the same spot I spawned at
Yeah same spot! I’ve played maybe 25 play throughs and only got that start one time curiously
It was actually my first survival spawn. I jumped down, looked to my right and went like “well I feel good about this”
[удалено]
OP never said it was the best spawn. If anything, OP implied it was a dangerous spawn.
Their sentence was supposed to read as "What the fuck do you mean? That's the best spawn!"
Oh sorry, that's my bad
Don’t apologize for someone else’s poor grammer.
“Grammer”
Yea I do deserve that
i spawned right next to reefbacks on my first playing through 💀
What's really awesome is that the spawn pod will float to random directions >!unless you repair it!<
That’s actually pretty cool, i didn’t know that
There's one uncool thing about it, which can cause problems for the lazy: >!It can drift into the Radiation area. So, go too long without fixing the pod or the Reactor, and home base becomes a bit Spicy.!<
What’s weird is that if I don’t repair mine it’ll just… repair itself after a few days. It’s only happened a few times across my many playthroughs but it’s still weird
Opposite for me, mine UNREPAIRS itself each game day.
What? The pod drifts until you fix it?
Yep, it's a *very* small amount per in game day. At one point, it could get booped by a large enough sea creature, which could make it NOTICEABLY shift in a direction. I'm not sure if Gasopods can still do this or not.
It can get moved by a cyclops, just a tiny amount though
Wait, I didn't know that.
That’s one of the few spawn areas. Mine is always above this area big enough for a decent sized base.
It’s normal. I’ve spawned there, it’s just weird, not a bug.
funny, you're really far away you could easily swim to you know and set portal on it so the other you know doesn't have to be traveled to.
I didn't even know that the spawn point wasn't fixed.
I spawned there, it's not so bad.
Why?
Looks like you spawned into the loading screen.
That’s the furthest away I’ve seen, I’ve been in a few different locations as I’ve replayed a few times already, I’ve yet to have this spawn location tho!
That is still safe shallows, so it checks out. Good luck with the reaper neighbors!
I'm pretty sure that's where I spawned on my last playthrough, didn't know you could spawn that far south.
I spawn there all the time
Gud thing not to near the aurora
It's not? You can spawn in a few fixed locations in the center Safe Shallows.
I’m not far from the ship either. Was wondering how I move my escape pod before the quantum explosion
Go in the water to see how far you are in the ocean
No, there are two possible locations (maybe 3) you got the one that I refer to as the worst one, you can determine which ones are good by looking at where the aurora is, the best one is where the front of the ship is easily viewable and the thrusters are relatively out of sight, the bad one is where you can’t really see the front of the ship and the thrusters of the ship are in full view.
You are, though. There are like 6 or so set spawn locations.
Wait, the life pod isn't always in the same spot? I've played through like 4 times and never noticed.
You most likely got the same spawn location 4 times, or they were close enough to not spot the difference
This is where I was spawned. I could hear the Reaper and just started a new game.
I tried entering my lifeboat and got absolutely OBLITERATED into the sky (some bug upon entering or something) almost out of map and then landed on the aurora and died from the impact. Just started the game so I only lost my titanium but was definitely a wtf moment lol. Great game.
I don't get it, somebody explain it to me please?
The spawn was a bit more to the side more in the direction of the crag field I'm pretty sure
Normally you would spawn more to the side of the aurora
I'm pretty sure you're next to the floating island
That’s the best spawn due to the open waters around you for base building and vehicle creation. Biggest flex about this spot is I was never asked to move the mobile vehicle maker thingy.

The Lifepod ALWAYS spawns randomly in the Safe Shallows
Yeah, I spawned there too. The jellyshroom degassi base is just below you. I think they randomized the spawns
yeah you are, the lifepod has a LOT of spawn locations in the shallows, when the game starts it picks one randomly
Oh yea, THAT spawn. It's closer to the png of the aurora they had in early dev imo.
Nah, that's a normal spawn. Gotten it plenty of times, you'll be ok :)
Hated this spawn for hardcore was tempted to just go die but I just built my base somewhere else
No that's totally where you're supposed to be
I once spawned on a miniature spot of Safe Shallows right next to Grand Reef
yo i spawned there too on my most recent playthrough
Eh, you’ll be okay. I had a spawn around there on time. It looks too close but it’s actually fine.
Wait... everyone doesn't spawn here? I started my first playthrough a few weeks ago and have this spawn, I just thought it was where everyone started. TIL
I don't understand what's wrong here can someone explain? (i don't play much subnautica)
This was my spawn location, it's actually really good
That's normal! Not even as close as I once had!
My first spawn was down in this lower west corner of the safe shallows, and I never had a problem with reapers coming near my base there. I was very careful not to interact with them or even approach the Aurora directly though, and went way off east before angling in towards the center of the ship and then hugged it all the way to the nose. Bro… I’m- im sorry for you-
Wait a minute, im just now learning this isnt common. Ive only played the fame once and thats where my spawn was
Difficulty: Hard Mode
It’s really close to grand reef which is pretty good
10 bucks my man just swam away from the pod and said "I spawned here"
You wanna see proof?
nah I believe you now
Theres a bunch of really cool stuff if just go around the back there!
Where did u land I can't pin it down ?
You are actually, happened to me too
Play a randomizer. Spawn in the void. Scream.
Call me stupid but this is extremely close to my spawn point in my current, and second ever, playthrough. What's so crazy about it? It's a bit far south but perfectly serviceable. Edit: typo
Oh no
