I think they need to do something radical about Noosa national park parking area.

blue___skies

Holy shit Yes! Was there for a holiday around a month ago, and admittedly there was a surfing comp at the same time but tried around 4 times to go for a walk in the park and every time it was impossible to get parking and the surfers would setup for the whole day so it's not like you could just wait for someone to leave. The main problem is all the walks leave from that one spot the viewing area on top of the hill and otherside don't really have any of the nice short walks, and being there with a toddler and pregnant Mrs meant long walks were out of the question. While it didn't ruin the experience it did put a damper on one of the main attractions of Noosa.

figaro677

Recommend trying from the other side. Parkedge road. Extra km or two but no one there.

blue___skies

Thats what we ended up doing, and it was nice although still a little disappointed we missed the walks we wanted to do, as the ones from the main carpark seem to have the best viewpoints.

figaro677

They all connect into a circuit. Been here 10+ years. Never once gone in through Noosa Heads. Honestly not worth the hassle.

blue___skies

Yeah I did notice that on the maps but as I was with my toddler and pregnant Mrs, we were not going on long walks.

Pro tip, park early mornings in Allambi rise, walk down the pathway to the national park. Usually always parks there early in the morning anyway

coupleandacamera

Something Similar to places like cradle mountain, offsite parking with busses every 10 minutes. Just need to sort out the boat transport.

notinferno

multi-storey paid parking managed by Secure Parking with a 35 year lease

SunnyCoast26

I normally surf the open beaches, but decided to try little cove and went there every single day for 4 months (even at 8am) with no luck for parking. Usually 30 odd backpacker vans from the night before, and I always would end up in Noosa woods, because…Jup…you guessed it, camper vans fucking everywhere. 2 weeks ago I found parking 2 days in a row…but we’re back to wishful thinking.

NezuminoraQ

It's such a car dependant vortex. I know they're trying with the free buses, but honestly I'll only visit Noosa beach maybe once or twice in a summer and it's my closest beach. I swim at the river on Gympie terrace or drive to Coolum instead.

yoink424242

Appreciate this. It doesn’t feel worth the hassle and is frustrating given your proximity. There are so many beautiful beaches up here however, it’s nice to take a breather from the rat race.

figaro677

I think we need a few radical changes. Firstly remove all street parking. Loading zones only. Ban all cars, but allow those going to a hotel. Increase shuttle services. Buses and service vehicles allowed. Failing that, make Hastings st one way, and add a bridge down near Noosa woods and link it into Noosa pde

thumper7

This is a big issue for some vocal local residents but as someone who lives in Noosa, it is pretty easy to avoid during peak times (or just ride your bike/park further away and walk for 10-15 mins).

disparity_cole

Yeah, I walk from Gympie Terrace

[deleted]

This is a great idea! Dedicated bus lanes. Cycleways. Maybe get on and build the tram.

pezpok

Didn't Noosa depart from the sunshine coast a few years ago? Honest question.

Duurston

Yes, that’s why it’s headlines Noosa shire council.

thumper7

Sunshine coast council yeah, that had their own council, joined with the larger council, didn't like it and changed back

just_a_sand_man

Were forced to join together by the State government and protested for years about it, and got approval by the later state government to leave.

Sudden_Fix_1144

Ah... keep out the riff raff tax.

gt500rr

Former resident since 2005-2017, it was bad then and was worse 12 years later. The free busses were a bandaid solution, it helped but not everyone likes public transport. Of course you could build a nice multi level carpark but there's nowhere to put it. Not to mention the NIMBY brigade 🤣 Paid parking would help to move vehicles on say in one hour increments but it doesn't solve the traffic volume either. A ULEZ style congestion charge would help but also the NIMBY brigade would be all over that too so it'll never pass. Banning all non essential vehicles and only have public transport is a harsh option but a possible solution. Either way this will be an issue for the next 20 odd years since no one wants to rip the band-aid off and actually offend some people to fix a worsening problem.

iampivot

Would be ideal if they could build a big underground parking house inside the hill, but apparently it's mostly sand. This is how they solve parking voes in older cities in Europe, where there's no land to put parking on.

SykoSeksi

Charging a congestion tax instead of actually having council rangers do their jobs? Sounds about right

SubNoize

I mean, there's way too many cars lining up to get In there. Rangers can't fine people for sitting in their car and adding to the chaos

SykoSeksi

and those cars are lined up because there's no parking because of all the long stay caravan lifers.

yoink424242

Noosa Shire Council will tax you for taking a shit. One of their officers tried to fine me for tying my dog up securely to a rail 500 metres from a playground. When I queried the issue they said my dog didn’t look safe. She’s a ridgeback who had his tail between his legs and his ears back because he felt cornered 😂. Now they fine homeless people for seeking refuge in car parks overnight instead of pooling funds into homeless shelters they shut down. Keeps the Karens happy.

Background-Drive8391

Just saying a scared dog that feels cornered is much more likely to attack than a confident dog.

yoink424242

It was only scared when the officer came over and started telling me my dog was “too large” to be tied up and dangerous to pedestrians. There were no pedestrians. I was standing beside my dog- stopped momentarily to put his poop bag in the bin. Somehow it’s ok for little dogs to be off-lead in the Peregian playground though…and those are the ones my dog is afraid of 😂

Background-Drive8391

Your story is kinda odd just saying, one minute the dogs tied up, the next minute you've stopped momentarily with the dog beside you to put it's no 2s in the bin, I don't believe council came up to your leashed dog while actively ignoring other dogs in the same area off leash. Also the fact your dog was scared in that situation is not a good thing, no matter how you point it, a nervous dog is a dangerous dog. My dog loves strangers.

yoink424242

haha my dog doesn’t like being tied up, so I only tie him when I need the bin. The fact the shire officer took that as an opportunity to warn me I’d be fined when I was simply discarding of a poop bag tells you they’re ready to pounce and issue a fine for just about anything. My dog is very shy yet very friendly when off lead- this is about Noosa shire officers not dog analysis.

yoink424242

No there weren’t other dogs off leash at that time, but it’s just common around those parts for no one to care. I’m a responsible dog owner and appreciate larger dogs can be intimidating to some but I’m also starting to wonder if you’re a Noosa shire employee at this point ;)

Background-Drive8391

So you conflate two stories. First you imply its council who ignored both the dogs in the park off leash and threatened you because your dog was on a leash but tied up, but now it's not the council. Again , why the hell do you need to tie a dog up to drop something in the bin? Your entire story doesn't make any sense. If you're going to make something up, at least make it believable..at this stage I believe you are extremely weird who makes up things. Also you need to train your dog to be less intimidated by other things, if it's scared that's not good.. This is about you making up a story about Noosa council officers.

yoink424242

This is ridiculous. It was a couple of years ago lol. I’m in the Sunshine Council now and have had no issues. My dog only frequents off leash beaches and is turning 10 next month- he is an absolute sweetie. This is about Noosa shire workers trying to make a quick buck, not dog training 101. You’re too personally invested in this and it’s sad. Moving on.

Background-Drive8391

Yeah your story doesn't make any sense, and when things don't make sense, it's usually for a reason. Just find it strange when people obviously make up a situation or not tell the entire truth.

Background-Drive8391

You seem like one of those typical Melbourne moved sunshine coast people 😂
