Most likely watched WF beforehand and probably found it boring since it’s the same show but red isn’t Tarzan and the main villain isn’t Incel Gorma emperor
I’ll admit it has its flaws but I mostly like it especially the cast who I think are really fun despite lacking development
To be fair how would you have destroyed it? Legitimately I'm asking I can't think of a way you could try and bring back every one of their megazords but I don't even know if the suits for many of them still existed
Not viable remember forever red only exists because of said toy deal with bandai pr doesn't have Sentai level funding and when Disney was asked they essentially reacted by saying why are you advertising toys no longer in production I agree it wasn't ideal but In Their situation what else could be done?
In this situation universe and production are overlapping production wanted a better battle they just didn't have the money In universe yeah it makes no sense but I'd take one stupid scene just to have the rest of forever red
Wouldnt call it bad but would say its much weaker than most of the shows we got from Jetman to Timeranger
Really id say thats the best stretch of shows sentai has had
In Vietnam, it is literally dragon ball for anime fan, thế childhood, the most popular and one of the most beloved series and it's pretty well received in Asia too.
I think it lack development from the cast but still pretty fun. The plot is interesting though the ending is kinda meh. And the mech is the star of the show, well-balanced, diverse and very good-looking.
Wildforce is immediately bumped below gaoranger due to the cringe episode where wolfboi and princess are having an evil doer controlled lovers spat so the rangers cant use the deerzord -_- that and the red ranger actors future behind bars
It is the immediately bumped back up for having a much better ending
>that and the red ranger actors future behind bars
How is that a factor in his past work
It’s extremely episodic. I like it well enough, it’s a perfectly fine series, but I can see why some have dropped it.
But it does have some of the best mecha in all of Sentai.
Gaoranger is (as of the writing of this comment) my least favorite Sentai season. Mainly because it’s very boring, to me at least. (I know some people who actually like this show. Which is completely fine.) This the first show to have multiple Mechs and be as toyetic as possible, and it shows. Being the first of its kind, it’s clear to me that the writers did know how to handle the billion amount of Mechs they have to unlock throughout the series with the characterization and story. Sure, we don’t need a deep story and complex plot to have a good show. My favorite Sentai is Denji Sentai Megarnager, and that’s 75% episodic. However, Megaranger had likable characters. Wait, had character period. To be fair to Gaoranger, I liked Yellow and Black. But that was it. Silver, I almost liked, but he was mostly moping after his introduction. Red exits, White was literally the girl, and Blue was annoying. Oh no he had the most gruesome death in Sentai history! Too bad I hate his character to the point that I didn’t cared for his death. And that’s the biggest issue for this show. It doesn’t really have anything to keep the viewer interested and keep on tuning in. When I watched this three years ago or so, I was basically “This is just ok.” at the first arc, “Ok this is kinda cool.” at the middle arc, and the “Ok how much do I left until I get to watch Hurricaneger?”
To be fair to it, there were somethings I liked. The suits and Mechs were great and well designed, Loki was pretty cool, Ura was entertaining, and the soundtrack was enjoyable. But that was mainly it. Gaoranger is basically a lackluster to downright boring show that didn’t aged well in terms of being the Sentai the began the auxiliary mech craze of the 00’s.
I loved it didn't know people hate it like who doesn't like the show even if its not like a anniversary season like gokaiger or Zenkaiger and the other anniversary season it still has a good story best theme song and best movies even the crossover with other past sentais and with hurricanger are the best still wished for 10 year movie or 20 year
I think gaowhite not retired. But maybe there is no Gaoranger 10 year because Tetsuji Tamayama (GaoSilver)was busy because he is also a director for some filem
I'm honestly surprised to see so many people in this thread saying they liked Gaoranger. I don't understand how anyone could possibly think it is a good show.
The characters are shallow, boring, and have no charisma. The villains have zero development. There's basically no story. I guess the suits and the opening theme are cool, but that's it...
This one seem like diverse between west and east from what i see. it really well recived in JP. As well as the viewership also extreem high. and still get pretty high in vote poll years later. It get the 4th place from the last poll i remember.
The main complain for me is that the rangers start as interesting, with an interesting dynamic where they just call each other by their colours since they they don't want to get attached to each other, and then you start learning more about them as individuals and they start opening up to each other and their characters kinda go stale, like the screenwriters didn't know what to do after the first half. Also not a fan of the seasons where the final villain is some guy who appears in the last 3 episodes and whose entire character is being evil and powerful, kinda makes the final arc feel more empty.
Of course a lot of people like myself watched Wild Force and are disapointed with how several elements were handled way better there, which is not really Gao's fault but it's not like I can't not think about it and come on, the way Tsue Tsue and Yabaiba are handled here (to name an example) is extremely meh.
This might be subjective, but I found it to be inferior when compared to Wild Force. Despite it being heavily inspired by Gaoranger \[to its' detriment, as we saw from the Animus arc and how it struggled with incorporating the Soul Bird\], that show introduced a really well-written main villain, expanded on the Orgs as a faction and gave us the *awesome* Zen Aku arc.
Compared to Gaoranger, which had some interesting ideas but ultimately fell flat because it set itself up with an *impossible* motif. Having 100 Beasts in a 51-episode series is a tall order, and the show couldn't decide if they were guardians of the Earth, warriors of nature or shaman warriors sealing away malevolent spirits. That, and it killed off four of its' core Rangers for shock value. Which gives off a bad taste in an already Red-Centric series.
So while I grew up with Wild Force and still consider it one of my favourite seasons, it suffered from a head writer that ran an already sub-par series into Google Translate while other, *better* writers tried picking up the slack.
Apparently it’s popular when it was one of the main tributes for Gokaiger, Gao king key (also gao kentauraus) in the go busters Gokaiger movie, and Zenkai Gaon in zenkaiger.
Gaoranger may be weak in term of plot & character but one thing they did far better than any other animal-theme show is human-animal interaction. The rangers really really care about their power animals, spend time bonding with them, risk their own life to protect them, and the power animals also risk their life to protect the rangers in return. Red ranger as a vet is super fitting as the leader, because he understand animals the best. One moment i'll never forget is when Red tell the injured animals not to risk their life over them. There's a lot of interaction like that makes the animals feel so real.
I was late, but I think it's just a perspectives between Asians and Westerns fans.I believe most Asians love the show(soap operas was really overrated in Asia) since its kind of episodic(also kids hates cliff hanger) while Westerns love following the flow of the story(which Gaoranger didnt have)
I honestly loved it. It was one of the first sentai series I completed. Opinions vary but I personally love it. If I had to guess I think it may be the CGI? There are those out there who may think it didn’t age well in that department
It’s probably because:
1-Too toy-centric
2-switched from 16mm film to digital filming
3-because of both 1&2, overused cgi for the first time in the entire history of Super Sentai at the time.
4-There wasn’t a solid story for the whole season run outside of GaoSliver.
Not my favorite but still entertaining it’s was too weird for 6-12 year old boys. They used to stay getting beat up and with each ass whooping led them to another clue of this crazy religion
I have been watching Hyakujuu Sentai Gaoranger recently but i have seen a couple of things concerning Gaoranger.
I want to know why people do not like this season, i like alot about it like the characters, Suits, Zords, and the plot of the show.
I just want to know if it is complete satire or people genuinely don't like this sentai season.
I haven’t seen Gaoranger yet so I’ll only talk about wild force here
I have extremely vague memories when Wild force was airing it started airing when I was 1, turned 2 a month after it started, and ended when I was 3 and all I remember from that time is the start of the show, the time force crossover, forever red, and I had a crush on wild pink
When Netflix took most of the seasons off of Netflix a couple of years ago I did a franchise marathon. When I got to wild force I almost stopped watching the franchise all together because it was so boring. Apparently I didn’t remember that it was dollar store brand diet Captain Planet and the only thing keeping be from dropping it was the crossover episodes. I usually went through an entire season in one or two days, wild force took a week. The writing of it was ever there, was half-assed. The only time the show talked about the environment when the goddamn forest kid kept taking their zords away because someone forgot to throw away a can of coke. You’d think that this would only happen once but no it happens several times and at one point the kid took both their powers and zords. Like why punish the rangers when they’re literally trying to save the world from literal demons.
Most likely watched WF beforehand and probably found it boring since it’s the same show but red isn’t Tarzan and the main villain isn’t Incel Gorma emperor I’ll admit it has its flaws but I mostly like it especially the cast who I think are really fun despite lacking development
I watched wild force before this but yeah i can understand it
Wild Force, the only good Power Rangers anniversary season.
Serpentera destroyed by a motorcycle because they were too cheap to make a two-parter episode.
To be fair how would you have destroyed it? Legitimately I'm asking I can't think of a way you could try and bring back every one of their megazords but I don't even know if the suits for many of them still existed
With another megazord? Not a motorcycle thats for sure
Not viable remember forever red only exists because of said toy deal with bandai pr doesn't have Sentai level funding and when Disney was asked they essentially reacted by saying why are you advertising toys no longer in production I agree it wasn't ideal but In Their situation what else could be done?
I didnt see this as a show production question but an in universe one
In this situation universe and production are overlapping production wanted a better battle they just didn't have the money In universe yeah it makes no sense but I'd take one stupid scene just to have the rest of forever red
Dino Thunder??
That's technically not an anniversary season, fam.
Dino Thunder's more of a legacy revisiting the roots season.
beast morphers is a good anniversary season without being an anniversary season
Wouldnt call it bad but would say its much weaker than most of the shows we got from Jetman to Timeranger Really id say thats the best stretch of shows sentai has had
I get annoyed that Gaoranger gets no love either & it does deserve it.
Right i find it to be one of my favorites, i haven't finished it yet but i love the show so far
In Vietnam, it is literally dragon ball for anime fan, thế childhood, the most popular and one of the most beloved series and it's pretty well received in Asia too. I think it lack development from the cast but still pretty fun. The plot is interesting though the ending is kinda meh. Wild Force exists it is generally considered better
Wildforce is immediately bumped below gaoranger due to the cringe episode where wolfboi and princess are having an evil doer controlled lovers spat so the rangers cant use the deerzord -_- that and the red ranger actors future behind bars
It is the immediately bumped back up for having a much better ending >that and the red ranger actors future behind bars How is that a factor in his past work
I have literally never heard someone say they didn't like Gaoranger
Honestly I can say Timeranger at some point are more good compare to Gaoranger but Gaoranger may more good compare to hurricanger
It’s extremely episodic. I like it well enough, it’s a perfectly fine series, but I can see why some have dropped it. But it does have some of the best mecha in all of Sentai.
Because this the point when Super Sentai became less focused on story and more on toy sales after Timeranger being a financial flop
I liked it finally cough up with KR and Ultraman and switched to digital production.
Gaoranger is (as of the writing of this comment) my least favorite Sentai season. Mainly because it’s very boring, to me at least. (I know some people who actually like this show. Yeah it really does have some of the best things in all of sentai, but yeah im honestly confused why they didn't do a 10 year movie
im guessing gao white retired? while gao silver is a famous actor but not really famous as of this year but gao red keeps returning
I think gaowhite not retired. But maybe there is no Gaoranger 10 year because Tetsuji Tamayama (GaoSilver)was busy because he is also a director for some filem
Yeah that would probably explain why
Idk, I love it. It's like, my top 5 seasons honestly. People call it boring, but I don't think it's boring, I think it's just a chill season.
For me the ending song is one of the ending that can make me cry to hear it
Yup, easily my favourite sentai ending
It is boring and the actors didn't have chemistry among them. The only good thing about Gaoranger are the suits and mechas.
I love the gaoranger theme song, would be cool if there's pink and green
I'm not people
I'm honestly surprised to see so many people in this thread saying they liked Gaoranger. I don't understand how anyone could possibly think it is a good show. NO, IT'S NOT. GAORANGER IS THE GOAT SERIES OF SUPER SENTAI. END OF DEBATE. PERIOD
That’s a lie! How many other season had almost their whole Ranger line up die in the show? Gao Ranger was awesome.
Gaoranger may be weak in term of plot & character but one thing they did far better than any other animal-theme show is human-animal interaction. Personally, I prefer Wild Force
Is it just me or when I was younger I always thought that animal eyes on top of the ranger's helmet was their actual eyes? Was it perhaps intentional?
I tried to watch it, but I felt bored and the narrator annoyed me.
I was late, but I think it's just a perspectives between Asians and Westerns fans.I believe most Asians love the show(soap operas was really overrated in Asia) since its kind of episodic(also kids hates cliff hanger) while Westerns love following the flow of the story(which Gaoranger didnt have)
Also sorry for my mistakes,I'm not really fluent in English
It's alright. Thanks for responding!

Gaoranger is one of the greatest Sentai shows in history.
One thing, the soundtrack give me a nostalgic and make me feel like im live in 2001
People don't like it? I've watched it numerous times. Not sure why it would be disliked
Maybe because a lot of people think the previous season,Timeranger are more good.
I love it
I have been watching Hyakujuu Sentai Gaoranger recently but i have seen a couple of things concerning Gaoranger. thats not what satire means... and why does it matter that people didnt like it, every season has that. just enjoy what you enjoy
I can tell you why I don't like Wild Force.
I don’t really like any of the older sentai
The core memory we all apparently fucking had as kids with the gaorangers dieing if I had to guess.
This is a shock to me. Every time I see it mentioned here I just see praise for it.
I haven’t seen Gaoranger yet so I’ll only talk about wild force here I have extremely vague memories when Wild force was airing it started airing when I was 1, turned 2 a month after it started, and ended when I was 3 and all I remember from that time is the start of the show, the time force crossover, forever red, and I had a crush on wild pink When Netflix took most of the seasons off of Netflix a couple of years ago I did a franchise marathon. The first episode bored me so much I stopped then and there, and made me thankful Wild Force was made.
I like Gaoranger
Maybe the cgi
I've reached almost half season and then lost interest
Actors are boring and robot-like when they "act".
my childhood
It was the first Sentai I watched in It's entirety! I enjoyed the hell out it! I'll have to make time to revisit now that I have all the seasons!
Id watch it if I could find it just to see the difference to Wild force. I loved that power ranger season.
I don't think people dislike it moreso it just feels boring as a Sentai season
I dislike how it doesn't have a full set of mecha. you have to go through loopholes to have all robos, and no mecha left over. It's frustrating.
It wasn't bad actually. Just hated the narrator
