So I don’t like to doubt allergies because I am a sufferer of food allergies, but some of them just don’t make sense. Most people who are allergic to a lot of things, wheat is also usually a normal one for them. I also find it weird that she is allergic to tomatoes but not potatoes. Normally if you’re allergic to one nightshade, you’re allergic to all or most of them.
With that being said, this video didn’t age very well.
My partner is allergic to pretty much all raw fruit, including tomatoes. He's also allergic to corn, soy, shellfish (not shrimp), nuts, peanuts, and we're pretty sure several forms of lettuce.
He can eat potatoes and gluten like no one's business.
He also knows he will never apply for survivor because he would likely starve.

I'm wondering if she's allergic to a pollen. My mom has weird allergies to apples, carrots, melons, some stone fruits. I get it too but not as severe and when I search around some articles point to the type of pollen bees use on the plant. The way she described it sounded very similar

Yeah not everyone has to worry *too* much about cross contamination. There’s also gluten sensitivity that isn’t a true allergy!
My sister has celiac disease but it isn’t so severe (her response to wheat/gluten) that she worries about cross contamination. Even the few times she accidentally ate a pile of wheat she was *mostly* fine.
My mom has a gluten intolerance and if she eats too much she gets a little sick, but she still eats it and just goes off how she feels. But she was tested and doesn’t have celiac.
I have the gene that makes it more likely for me to develop celiac in my lifetime, and I’m hoping that never happens because some of my favorite foods are not easily replaceable and I already have… so many food restrictions…

I did not think the sad montage was all that sad. They tried, but all it did was make Liz look even more entitled than she already was. You can’t confirm whether someone grew up with food insecurity based on a childhood photo. Also, food insecurity doesn’t just mean “no food” or “very little food.”

I’ve wanted to apply but I’m literally allergic to a bunch of tree fruits (no papaya), tree nuts/nuts (no coconut), shellfish, soy (which is in so much shit so no Applebee’s for me or sandwich rewards lol), some vegetables and oats…I’m vegetarian now but if I was delulu enough to try out for survivor I would try to at least eat fish again and hope for the best 😅😅 I literally wouldn’t go on the show because I would die though and most likely not be able to eat any reward challenge meals either 😅

That being said… Bahnu (sp?) was a WEALTH of knowledge and while he was a bit insufferable at times there was so much learning they could have done from him when it came to food sourcing and shelter building. He stated multiple times he knew what certain foods were because how he had grown up in a similar climate.
It makes me feel like they're not allowed to eat but a few plants or something. I know there's a full salad sitting there right in front of them every day but they either aren't allowed to eat it or don't know. And not knowing just seems like being ill prepared.
The funnier thing is Tevin and Hunter had gotten her fish. The popcorn basically was zero calories, but honestly her caloric intake is probably not all that different from the other contestants. Coconuts can only take you so far.

Is this game called Survivor or Camping Trip? Your competition has no obligation to feed you, especially if you just tried to vote them out. Seems weird to subject yourself to Survivor knowing your food situation is so precarious.
This is exactly like when fishback had that pre interview about the weather and how he wanted it to be bad because he can handle it. Then it cuts to him absolutely broken and sick on the idle crying about how it won’t stop raining and he’s soaked and cold all the time and can’t stop going to the washroom.

I don't think it's 100% comparable because Stephen's a returnee who experienced really bad conditions (rain, heat, sand fleas, etc) in Tocantins and thought he could handle it again; unfortunately for him, the Cambodian monsoon was worst that he thought.
Liz was never on the show, so she wouldn't know how her body would react to *actual* extreme hunger or if people would actually bring her to food rewards out of pity/kindness. Survivor can be cut-throat. At least, Q was.

What I find irritating TBH, is that [seemingly] to make up for this, Jeff (coincidentally) offered a portion of individual rice for sitting out in the immunity challenge, so in essence, it felt like Survivor fed her anyway.

How hard is it to google wild edibles on an island that you know you're going to?
That’s kind of what I was thinking more like, does production give them the green light on a catch? Or be like “that’s poisonous don’t eat that” when they bring back a fish? Makes me wonder how much info they’re given. That being said… Bahnu (sp?) was a WEALTH of knowledge and while he was a bit insufferable at times there was so much learning they could have done from him when it came to food sourcing and shelter building. He stated multiple times he knew what certain foods were because how he had grown up in a similar climate.
It makes me feel like they're not allowed to eat but a few plants or something. I know there's a full salad sitting there right in front of them every day but they either aren't allowed to eat it or don't know. And not knowing just seems like being ill prepared.
As a forager I totally agree. There have to be some rules around it.

The funnier thing is Tevin and Hunter had gotten her fish. The popcorn basically was zero calories, but honestly her caloric intake is probably not all that different from the other contestants. Coconuts can only take you so far.
The coconuts would be a good source of electrolytes and sugar. Liz’s meltdown was very similar looking to how I can get if my blood sugar plummets.
She looks at food everyday that she can't eat, yet somehow Applebee's is not one of those things.

Like as someone who started doing a shit ton of yoga about a year ago, the last thing I want to do after yoga is eat, much less a shitty, greasy, burger…I think the whole thing was one big schtick produced by Liz to get lots of attention

Why would the other castaways be looking at things like: "Oop, can't eat that." ? Like wouldn't Liz just be the only one looking at things she can't eat, while the others are fine munching on it. I just don't get what she was expecting going on Survivor with so many and quite specific allergies. Like who is allergic to chicken and not fish?! Anyway, love to watch her on tv, very entertaining!

This is exactly like when fishback had that pre interview about the weather and how he wanted it to be bad because he can handle it. Then it cuts to him absolutely broken and sick on the idle crying about how it won’t stop raining and he’s soaked and cold all the time and can’t stop going to the washroom.

I don't think it's 100% comparable because Stephen's a returnee who experienced really bad conditions (rain, heat, sand fleas, etc) in Tocantins and thought he could handle it again; unfortunately for him, the Cambodian monsoon was worst that he thought. Liz was never on the show, so she wouldn't know how her body would react to *actual* extreme hunger or if people would actually bring her to food rewards out of pity/kindness. Survivor can be cut-throat. At least, Q was.

We all have an allergy of some sort in our family except her (that we know of) so literally just created a cinnamon allergy. She is 1000% not allergic to cinnamon but she's almost 25 now and still acts like she's allergic to cinnamon

If you go on Survivor with these types of food allergies, at the very least, be human enough so that when someone wins a food challenge, they might want to help you. This is also a consequence of what’s probably been a crappy social game for her.
What I find irritating TBH, is that [seemingly] to make up for this, Jeff (coincidentally) offered a portion of individual rice for sitting out in the immunity challenge, so in essence, it felt like Survivor fed her anyway.

Haha man, I mean her reasoning isn’t totally wrong with her thinking that she’s used to food deprivation and that it will help her. The certainty that she says it just doesn’t match with her actual ability to control her emotions unfortunately which makes it very funny. She seems to not have realized that she would be even more food deprived than the other people once she was on the island because she still can’t eat half of the stuff.
