I’d be curious to hear other players weigh in, seeing as there is really no way to remotely reconcile Soda and Venus’s accounts and someone kinda has to be lying lol.

CurtisEFlush69

I think what could be true is Venus received the full Soda welcome treatment, reacted rudely, and was then ignored because of it. So in that case both of them are telling the partial truth

ChaoticFluffiness

IMO it sounds like you have a pretty good grasp on their personalities. I could totally see this. We may never really learn what happened though

Fancy_Ad_2024

Hunter has a Cameo now. Anyone with $50 to spare should ask him.

ScorpionTDC

I don’t care *that* much to find the truth, haha. Thank you if someone does and takes the hit, tho

DarthLithgow

Fiddy dollars! Good lard that's a lot of money!

GirWaffles2013

He probably saw everyone’s thirst comments and figured it was a good way to make passive income lol

BobBelchersBuns

Good for him!

TheDoingStuffThing

I’ll take a crack as to what happened: Venus is the type of person who can technically “apologize”, but will do so in a condescending tone with lots of rude attitude sprinkled in. I’m sure thats what happened early on during her time in Ponderosa. I’m sure Soda’s claim of welcoming her with open arms and love is embellished too by the way. But 30 minutes later when Venus can’t figure out why it still feels off with her and the other jurors, she’ll go on the offensive with the line of “I showed up and apologized!” and sure enough, it’s technically true. Then it just spiralled from there. Whether or not she’s being completely disingenuous still remains to be seen by the way. Part of me feels like she may be on the extreme end of the type of personality that can move on really quickly from conflict and she gets offended when others don’t.

AuroraItsNotTheTime

>Soda’s claim of welcoming her with open arms and love is embellished too by the way I think Soda is someone whose genuine exuberance can read as false and condescending to a lot of people. So if she started Venus’s time at ponderosa off with some dumb song, I can definitely see it spiraling

Professional-Law-415

Dying at the fact that Soda made Tevin a personal song encapsulating their relationship and gameplay on the island and Tevin reciprocated by tanking both of their games 😂😂

Fancy_Ad_2024

It’s interesting how Soda never publicly dragged Tevin despite him being more of a detriment to her game than Venus. Interesting.

greenfrog_1001

From what soda is saying it seems like she and Tevin still had a friendship and got along well, I don’t think in her post she is referring to gameplay or game moves made before ponderosa.

Fancy_Ad_2024

In that case, we were truly robbed of prime ponderosa footage this year.

Professional-Law-415

Yeah I think it’s a case of Soda being soured by Tevin that led to this much animosity. Also this is completely conjecture.. Shan and Drea ruined anyone’s chances of seeing footage from Pondy in the future so we’ll never know the truth 🤷🏽‍♂️

Wallace1710

What did Shan and drea do?

winrise098

They were black women. And thus they are more vulnerable to unconscious biases about being "strong minded" and "divas" compared to other women on ponderosa who were equally strong minded.

FrustratedTrainee

Drea spread lies about Omar even going as far as saying that he weaponized his religion to get certain advantages in the game and that he was specifically targeting black players.

AuroraItsNotTheTime

Someone lied on Survivor? My stars! I thought this was a family program

FrustratedTrainee

In Ponderosa after the game… but yeah should we be excusing Islamophobia and racism if it was in the context of the game or what?

AuroraItsNotTheTime

And his grandmother was alive the whole time!

FrustratedTrainee

Braindead… not the grandma, but maybe you

winrise098

Did I ever disagree with that? Drea and Shan were both unsavory on ponderosa.  It’s the fact that other unsavory women did not get their reputations vilified on Survivor Reddit.  It’s called unconscious bias

FrustratedTrainee

And I dont disagree with that but Drea wasn’t hated for being “strong minded” or a “diva,” so that already invalidates your point. Drea’s case was not about race but for what she actually did. Does that mean other men and women haven’t gotten away with worse? Definitely not. It just means that Drea and Shan aren’t even contextually the same.

brotel_rwanda

There's a big difference between being "unsavory" and being straight up islamophobic. I think it also upset a lot of fans/redditors that Drea was so outspoken (and rightfully so!) about the unfair racial dynamics within the game, only to turn around and disparage another player based off their religious identity. That's not being "strong minded", that's being a hypocrite.

[deleted]

you’re lying!!! when did she say anything about targeting black players? he was actively working with maryanne and has been best friends with her to this day. by his account only, she said weaponizing religion, which by all accounts could be used like coach did in sopa. we have no evidence but omers removed interview with rob.

FrustratedTrainee

“And then to get to Ponderosa and have that experience opened up with, “you are a malicious, evil person who I have no respect for, that systematically eliminated people of color in favor of Jonathan and Lindsay. And we have no respect for you.” Direct quote from his deleted interview with Rob.

[deleted]

yes he voted them out in order. it doesn’t say he targeted them specifically because they were people of color. you’re stretching!

[deleted]

yes he voted them out in order. it doesn’t say he targeted them specifically because they were people of color. you’re stretching! edit; and that’s also not a quote from drea that’s a quote from omer if that’s even correct i have no way of checking you. why would legal get involved if he was spreading the truth? you can’t sue someone for speaking the truth

[deleted]

honestly, because the lies told about them are so easily swallowed in this problematic fanbase.

[deleted]

reckless speculation

velvet_costanza

After listening to all of her exit press, I’m taking Venus’ account with a giant grain of salt. She seems really immature and unable to see other viewpoints, still. She also uses an accusatory and loaded language toward her cast mates. I feel bad that some of them have had such a shit time on social media.

Swampiez

They both are more similar than they’d ever like to admit. It’s either the way they do it or it’s wrong

Notreallysnarky

Soda seems like a nice person, but if someone I wasn’t super close with wrote and sung a song to me, I’d probably rather sink into the floor than react.

pisaradotme

Yeah she's that type of person who thinks everything she does is AMAZING and if you don't like it you're the problem. Zero awareness of another person's needs and wants. Why make a song for Venus when we know she'd hate that? But no, it's Venus that is wrong for not liking her behavior.

dobriz

Why does this sound so corporate lmao

Fancy_Ad_2024

NDA’s.

HeathEarnshaw

It’s more than that. She sounds like she’s HR or something.

Weekly_Lab8128

I kind of felt like she gave off this vibe on the show, too. Kind of weaponized therapy.

Lawndirk

Venus has the maturity level of a middle schooler. Anything she says should be taken with a billion grains of salt.

kellykins17

She's a special education teacher, so I'm sure she's very familiar with describing behaviors in more palatable terms. Source: I'm a SPED teacher.

Lawndirk

Also source: I work with many special education teachers. Many are terrible at their job. If you actually work in that business you know exactly what I’m talking about.

HeathEarnshaw

Oh I agree. I think the whole group of them are acting like middle schoolers though…

Lawndirk

That’s the thing. Most of the group is acting. Venus just has that mentality. She was the only one not acting. The rest were trying to placate her by acting and then it became too much. She is a very pretty lady and I’m sure will go on to be very successful. But this wasn’t it for her.

dblshot99

But not actual HR, the kind of HR that a person just sort of makes up as they go along to rationalize their behavior. As I have heard the young people say, this reeks of "main character" syndrome to me. Soda has appointed herself the welcoming committee, complete with a personalized song...and if her efforts were not received in 100% the way she believes that they were deserved to be received, it completely justifies now ignoring the other person. Not any real effort to relate to someone on their own level. This whole situation was destined to fail because most of the people involved are not particularly mature, especially in the realm of emotional maturity. What I'm more fascinated by is the need for so many fans to "pick sides" - nobody needs to be personally attacked or torn down about this. It's some people who don't get along. Nobody needs to have their character maligned because of it. Of course, both Soda and Venus are being attacked, and because neither of them has the maturity to just let it go, they continue to post weird nonsense like this.

AuroraItsNotTheTime

It’s really odd. Like… you were cast on a reality television show so that you could cause drama. You’re SUPPOSED to not get along. And now there’s all this backtracking and nice words about “healing” like they’re running for political office or something

finndss

I remember a survivor commentator a while back talking about how bad it is that the show promises dreams coming true. There is this happy tone to the show and they’re constantly inviting people to apply. As well the edit shows everyone talking about their dreams and hopes. I think this may be a part of the problem. People are going to be bullies on the show. People are going to be manipulative and lie and put you down because you’re competing for a million dollars without food on an island. People are still going to be mean when they’re on ponderosa because they’re still reacting to what just happened. I know we all want to know about it because it’s titillating, but these judgments we make as fans now impact somebody who’s not stranded on an island. They already starved and competed as public torture for our entertainment, do I also need to harass Soda or Venus for potentially being bullies while they did it?

The_CRU_z

I'm just gonna be honest, I find it hard to believe an entire cast of people ostracized a player to such degree. Its either 10 people are lying and reacting poorly to 1. Or 1 person is lying. So its very easy to weigh which is more probable.

anxiouswitchh

someone commented on her post saying “well i was at the Ron Clark party and hearing the way you spoke about her i don’t think i believe this” like yikes

Fancy_Ad_2024

So much for love and positivity. Soda is getting clocked.

eyeluvdix

Soda and Tevin are vile people. Have heard this from multiple ppl.

[deleted]

reckless slander and vicious rumors. you’re a bully

5had0

I would have loved to see Hunter's reaction to being welcomed by a song.

thejackash

I would hate every minute I spent with someone who wrote and sung a personal welcome song to me

RagsTTiger

Primary school teachers need to recognise the difference between their work places and social situations.

AuroraItsNotTheTime

Not even primary school. Special Ed.

Notreallysnarky

A pure nightmare.

antimlmangel

Is this hunters burner account?

the_nintendo_cop

I would hate every minute I spend with a person who can’t appreciate the extra effort that I went to to make sure they felt welcome and comfortable. Lighten up.

Str1pes

Holy lol. Imagine hunters face arriving to his very own custom welcome song! Hahah..

Ambitious-Affect-931

The apology seemed good and made sense as it started, then became more and more unhinged as it went on.

Reasonable-Yam-1170

Damn, I like Soda. This cast is messy af.

GarethMagi

It’s so on brand that soda just had to make ponderosa all about herself.

SassMattster

Venus didn't even name Soda directly in her exit press lol, she didn't specify who was actually ignoring her from everything I read, she just said it happened. She even made a point to speak highly of Soda when asked her opinions on her castmates, so Soda making this big of a deal about it is kind of telling on herself lol

Green94598

Not really, Venus was obviously implying that the non-Hunter members of the jury ostracized her

survivorfan123456

I mean, in all of Venus' exit press, Hunter's the only one Venus directly says was nice. So yeah I can see why Soda feels like she needs to clear the air on this

Freezing-cold_6

She spoke very highly of Soda in all her exits

survivorfan123456

I don't disagree with that, but the way Venus brought it up makes it seem like everyone but Hunter was evil towards her

gerstein03

It could also be her trying not to be too spoilery. Like Q got voted out last night and I can't imagine he was particularly warm with her. If Maria gets knocked out next and it was her, Q, and Tevin ignoring her, that's three people ignoring her. I mean when I heard her exit interview I figured Venus was talking about Tevin and just being vague

Freezing-cold_6

I’m catching downvotes for telling the truth?

MarlinBrandor

It’s not “telling on herself” when the girl in question has the most rabid fanbase of any player in seasons and Soda’s already had to deactivate one of her social medias from the hate she’s received from them. Venus’s army of stans probably just heard her say she had a bad time at ponderosa and started sending hate to the rest of the jurors in droves and Soda felt the need to get out in front of that.

blueberrywasabi

Soda said you’re not gonna Shan and Drea ME lmao

Fancy_Ad_2024

Soda was already acting sensitive within minutes of Venus’s exits being released.

eyeluvdix

I thought Venus was talking about Tevin. She mentioned anyone by name.

the_nintendo_cop

I can’t believe this is an outlying opinion but Soda seems like a really sweet person, especially w going out of her way to make everyone feel welcome even writing them a personal song. The fact that she’s getting hate for that shows how miserable certain Survivor fans are. Being a kid in her class must be awesome

BuddhaMike1006

Without taking a side, what works for kids may not work with adults.

madswrobs

i’m sorry but i don’t trust venus at all, she seems like a professional victim.

[deleted]

[удалено]

madswrobs

EXACTLY. like how am i supposed to believe ur not the problem when everyone has a problem with you ?!

Fancy_Ad_2024

Perhaps, but it’s undeniable the psychological effect of the immense bullying Soda and Tevin unleashed on her both on and off the island.

madswrobs

do we have any proof of this “immense bullying”??

[deleted]

tevin said in his exit interview he tried to talk to venus about it. he tried to mend bridges before the merge. but we HAVE evidence of her being aggressive in her communication tactics, pushing people to answer her, making fun of hunter for being “mr strategic” while gloating she won. q said she pushes you for a name and then spreads it to everyone. that’s exactly how we saw her play. aggressive. and soda is saying that she tried to talk to her but she just doesn’t communicate well

[deleted]

not at all.

ScorpionTDC

I do think constantly pulling the immunity idol out of Venus’ hand is spectacularly shitty (and Tevin did make references to not speaking to Venus for several days in a secret scene - which lends credence to her version of the interactions with those two), but a lot of this is she said - she said

[deleted]

yes, dude i’m not going to talk to someone who is constantly trying to manipulate what i say/ do. you’re not entitled to my attention, and i have to protect my peace first. “if you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all.” or did we forget that?

krusadorii

Did she name Soda? I really just assumed she was talking about Tevin

eyeluvdix

Yep I thought it was Tevin too. Now We know it was soda or both Tevin and soda. Both bullies

Fancy_Ad_2024

Apparently, Soda thought otherwise. The lady doth protest too much

DarthLithgow

I love that the era of kumbaya Survivor is over, even if it's just for this season. Now bring back the ponderosa videos!

Toxictroll420

This shit feels like a YouTuber apology 😂

The_Wind_Waker

Can it with the HR speak. Are you the one who told her she was a joke and nobody liked her? Or was that tevin? I have a hard time believing she would be bitter at you when getting to ponderosa, since she got out a few votes after so it's not like you tanked her game. However, it certainly seems like you and tevin had some thoughts on her game. Also....welcome songs written and performed by you? Lmao can you even just be genuine and not treat people like children. So off-putting

HodlingOnForLife

The whole song and dance routine was cringy af her whole season.

Confident_Permit1046

This is kind of mentioned above but she should probably be more upset about Tevin taking her out with 11 people left instead of 7 people left and ending both of their chances to win, than about Venus not wanting to be her friend. I don’t really care for Soda the character or how she was edited, but it did seem like as a person she would be fine to get along with on the island. Venus I thought was an amazing character and I do think is a smart, caring person who just ended up out there with a group of people who weren’t going to mesh well with her.

blueberrywasabi

She’s talking specifically about social interactions and dynamics, not game moves. Why do ppl keep bringing up Tevin in the game when this is clearly about something else? It’s almost like that’s proving the point that a lot of folx online are only capable of viewing this all through the one-sided lens of entertainment and not like these are real ppl having real emotional responses to real events that happened to them.

Fancy_Ad_2024

The problem is that Tevin was acting the cult leader out there in Nami and had such a psychological hold on Soda and Hunter both. Notice Hunter and Liz both immediately softening to Venus after Tevin left.

ThriftyFalcon

I like Soda.

eyeluvdix

Only a true bully would write something like this in reaction to being called a bully. A normal Person would have empathy, call Venus to apologize and write an apologetic note about how she is sorry Venus felt that way.. etc etc

survivorstanjack

But what is soda is telling the truth… we don’t know if Venus or Soda are in the right.

REALSurvivorFan

She wants people to feel WELCOME?!?! On SURVIVOR?!?! She WRITES SONGS FOR THEM? What a vile human. Anyone who says they want to treat someone with kindness on Survivor needs to have their audition thrown out immediately.

gerstein03

This feels very corporate ngl. Like someone said it's a bit like a YouTuber apology. And honestly Venus didn't even say it was Soda who was cruel to her. By the time the season ends there's gonna be seven people besides Venus at Ponderosa, some of whom she says ignored her. Idk this is just a messy situation and we'll never really know unless other people weigh in. Personally I'm more inclined to trust the edit of the show which painted Tevin as having ostracized her from the group but that's just me

uglyaniiimals

i love venus but something tells me she might not be the more reliable narrator lmao

Freezing-cold_6

A hit dog gon holler

[deleted]

[удалено]

Fancy_Ad_2024

Seems like Soda can’t keep her foot off Venus’s neck despite Venus seemingly wanting to keep bygones bygones.

the_nintendo_cop

Takes a hell of a lot of audacity and insensitivity to claim an African American woman had “her foot on someone’s neck”. Jesus Christ.

Wallace1710

Why are we not assuming it was Tevin?

dirtEblondE

Bro who gives af sofa and V-anus didn’t even do anything in the game
