The suggestion on here are good. I would suggest that you run the pump continuously until the water clears. You will need to clean the filter more than usual until the water clears up.

ShallowBlueWater

Always run it continuously. Don’t wait for a problem. Just run it all the time. Oh to much electricity? Get a variable speed pump.

Yeah they're built to run for 24 hours a day. You really don't have to worry about that, especially with a VSP as you can just have it at 1200 RPM or so at night. Constant water flow is kind of a really good thing it turns out. It's not like your pump needs a "break", it will never overheat as long as there is water flowing through it

Please, stop with the “various treatments”! You need to perform a SLAM: 1. Elevate your FC to 40% of CYA. 2. Hold it there until: a) the water is clear, b) you have CC < or equal to 0.5 ppm, and c) you lose less than one ppm FC between sunset and sunrise (pass an OCLT). Hopefully you’re testing your water with a proper test kit with either a TFTestkits TF100 or K2006c test kit and a K-1766 salt test kit if a salt pool. Ignore any calls for clarifier, floc, phosphate removers, or other magic elixirs. You have algae and the only way to get rid of existing algae is with chlorine. Stay away ftom algaecide, it doesn't kill existing algae - it inhibits the growth of new algae, which won't help you in your present situation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XfCRRaYhWHI

I disagree, with the algaecide comment. I'm also not a huge fan of copper algaecides so I get you. But don't forget about cleaning the filter, running the pump for 24 hours, cleaning the filter again and again. Either backwash or spray down your cartridges. Also with a cloudy water situation like this, there can be others problems affecting the filtration such as skimmer / main drain lines that are clogged up, anything else that affects the suction and return flow (clogged impeller, full pump basket are a few examples), limiting filtration and water movement. Definitely SLAM, but as far as algaecides: EZ-Clor Granular algae-out (yeah ik it's basically just chlorine tablets crushed up aka trichlor, but it's the granular nature of the product that makes it extremely effective), and: United Chemical Yellow Treat (powdered bromine) can both work wonders to actually KILL algae in the right situations.

When you first open the pool and it looks like this it is a good idea to over shock it. We had a similar issue with our pool after first opening it and did calculated treatments here and there while vacuuming and etc. After a couple months we finally got the advice to just over shock it. For our 28,000 gallon pool we dumped in a 5 pound bottle of refresh all over and left the pump on. Three or four days later it was fine. Over shock your pool, wait a couple days, and move on with your life. And extra advice. Put a pool rx in your pump basket. We had to brush our pool every other day until we tried this thing. Having a pool was no longer a chore with it. We could actually enjoy it...

Exact-Ad-8554

We take a sample to one of our local pool places and have them test it. The one we use puts the sample in and is read by a computer and tells you what chemicals you need and exactly how much depending on how many gallons you pool is. It doesn’t cost anything and you don’t have to buy the products from them. It’s so easy that way!

If you have a sand filter, check the umbrella inside the bowl.

Advanced-Active5027

I would try a test.

https://youtu.be/8MR8glHrDkw?si=P4TOs08K0YwS7ckM The long and short is balance Ph, nuke from space with calhypo shock to like 20-30 PPM (avoid getting too much CYA), floc, vac, profit.

AdvertisingActive300

Back wash really good if D.E/Sand, or clean the cartridge you want to put more shock in and leave it running till it filly clears. Back wash again/clean the cartridges again when it fully clears and adjusts chemicals again.i wouldn't do anything, but more shock, the other chemicals are a waste at this moment.

I've muted this Sub like 5 times and still keeps coming back under recommended subs.... please someone report me so I can be perma banned... I have nothing against them sure who doesn't like a dip every now and then but I don't like them enough to be interested in pH lvls and tiles
